Revenue from its digital services, which includes Reliance Jio, showed a quarterly growth rate of 5.4% to ₹ ₹14,910 compared to three months earlier. "Our subscribers now exceed 330 million. We added a net of 25 million subscribers in this quarter," CFO Alok Agarwal said. Reliance Jio, the company’s telecommunications arm, has shown a growth on the back of a steadily growing subscriber base. In fact, Jio <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/mukesh-ambanis-reliance-jio-beats-airtel-to-be-indias-second-biggest-telecom-network/articleshow/70291841.cms">beat out</a> Airtel to become the second most subscribed network operator in the country earlier today, according to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) report. Its user base has been growing steadily where BSNL, Airtel and Vodafone have been leaking subscribers. From May to June, Airtel lost 1.5 million users and Reliance Jio added 8.1 million subscriptions to its user base. But the growth in subscribers also means there’s an impact on the average revenue per user (ARPU). Agarwal stated that there’s been a decline in ARPU from 126 to 122, but added, “From our customer profile, we’re seeing a distinct shift to higher tariff packages which are inherent really slightly cheaper than lower tariff packages.” Reliance Jio’s EBITDA is up 8% and EBITDA margins are up by 110 basis points. Reliance Jio has today managed to raise as much as ₹25,215 crore from a Canadian asset management company, Brookfield’s subsidiary — BIF IV Jarvis India. This will help the company repay some of its mammoth debt accumulated in the process of investing in Jio and offering deep discounts to win over customers.

Overall margins shrank to 16.1% from 18.3% because automobile demand has been on a downtrend last few months. At a time when the sales for the entire two-wheeler industry fell 9%, Bajaj Auto clocked a 1.6% growth in sales between April and June 2019. Bajaj Auto’s profits stood at ₹1126 crores, just a tad higher than the figure the same time last year. It’s consolidated profit after tax stood at ₹1012 crores, down 2.8% from a year earlier. Bajaj Auto share price spikes as company gains market share

Mining conglomerate <keyword id="19919721" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vedanta" source="keywords">Vedanta</keyword> Ltd on Tuesday reported 36.5 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 3,606 crore for June quarter FY25 due to improved margins and robust cost reduction across all operations. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 2,640 crore in the year-ago period. Income rose to Rs 36,698 crore over Rs 34,279 crore in the year-ago period, according to an exchange filing. Vedanta said in a statement that the proposed demerger of its businesses is on track and it has already filed the demerger scheme with NCLT after getting a nod from secured creditors. The company said that its board has approved a capex investment of USD 270 million for its oil and gas business. "The strategic priority for the Cairn Oil &amp; Gas business is to augment reserves and increase near term volume through infill wells and enhanced oil recovery. In order to deliver this, the Board has approved capex investment (net) of USD 270 million across fields in the Rajasthan block for drilling wells and construction of surface facility for ASP ( Alkaline Surfactant Polymer) injection," the company said in a separate filing. Vedanta Executive Director Arun Misra said that the company has delivered a strong start to the year, with exceptional EBITDA improvement of 47 per cent and PAT improvement by 54 per cent year-over-year on the back of improved margins, and robust cost reduction across all operations. "Our aluminium and zinc divisions continue to outperform industry benchmarks, consistently ranking in the top quartiles and deciles of the global cost curve. These achievements are a direct result of our strategic focus on cost, as reflected in a 20 per cent year-over-year reduction in overall cost," he said. The company's growth projects are well on track and it remains committed to commission the majority of these projects in FY25. "Moving ahead, our focus on operational efficiency, sustained expansion, and ESG excellence will guide our journey. With this dedication, we are confident in our ability to create substantial shareholder value in the year ahead," he added. Last month, the mining conglomerate raised Rs 8,500 crore (over USD 1 billion) through Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP) of 19.31 crore equity shares at an issue price of Rs 440 per share. Company's CFO Ajay Goel said, "The overwhelming response to the Vedanta's... QIP...underscores investors' huge confidence. The proceeds from the QIP will be further instrumental in deleveraging the balance sheet and reduction of finance costs. We have received all the requisite approvals and have filed the demerger scheme with the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) taking our demerger a step closer to reality." The company's gross debt stood at Rs 78,016 crore as on June 30, 2024. Vedanta Q1 profit surges 37% to ₹3,606 crore on improved margins

Revenue rose 13.8% to ₹8,702 crore for the period. In constant currency terms, the company’s revenue rose 8.2% YoY for the June quarter. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, however, this revenue was almost flat at 0.1% growth. “Our key verticals BFSI (banking, financial services and insurance), Manufacturing &amp; Resources and Hi-Tech, Media, and Entertainment, which make up 75% of our revenues performed well,” said Debashis Chatterjee, chief executive officer and managing director. “Our strategic programs are bearing fruit and is evident in the upward movement across our client buckets. The order inflow continued to increase and reached $1.41 billion in this quarter,” he added. The company has 723 active clients as of June 30, 2023. During the quarter, $5 million+ clients increased by 18 on a YoY basis, while $10 million+ clients increased by 9 and $50 million+ clients increased by 3. “Our operational rigor helped us achieve an EBIT of 16.7% and PAT of 13.2%," Chatterjee added. EBIT is earnings before interest and taxes, while PAT refers to profit after tax. At the end of the quarter, the company had 82,738 professionals with the trailing 12 month attrition at 17.8%. Among the deals won during the quarter are a deal from one of the largest property &amp; casualty insurance companies in the United States, which has chosen LTIMindtree as a strategic partner for a multi-year application development and maintenance deal. Shares of the company were trading 2.5% lower at ₹5,006 in morning trade on the NSE. Meanwhile, the Nifty50 was up 0.45%.

LTIMindtree Q1 net profit rises 4.1% to ₹1,152 crore, revenue up 14% YoY

New Delhi, Apr 30 () Billionaire Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) on Thursday announced fund raising of Rs 53,125 crore by way of a 1:15 rights issue, the first such issue in nearly three decades, as it steps up efforts to pare debt. One share will be offered for every 15 shares held at Rs 1,257, a 14 per cent discount to the closing price for April 30. In its earnings statement for fourth quarter, RIL said this would be India's biggest rights issue. The move comes within days of RIL agreeing to sell a 9.99 per cent stake in its digital platform to Facebook Inc for USD 5.7 billion or Rs 43,574 crore. Ambani had in August last year unveiled plans to cut debt to zero by 2021. As part of this plan, RIL has been seeking strategic partnerships across its businesses while targeting to deleverage the balance sheet. At the end of March quarter, RIL had an outstanding debt of Rs 3,36,294 crore. It also had cash in hand of Rs 1,75,259 crore, bringing the net debt position to Rs 1,61,035 crore. RIL said its board also approved a dividend of Rs 6.50 per equity share for the financial year ended March 31, 2020. It "approved the issuance of equity shares of Rs 10 each of the company of an issue size of Rs 53,125 crore by way of 'Rights Issue' to eligible equity shareholders of the company as on the record date." "The price for the Rights Issue has been determined at Rs 1,257 per share and the share ratio at 1:15," it said. "The proposed Rights Issuance will be the first by RIL in three decades. The issue will be structured as partly paid shares and will enable shareholders to phase out the outlay on their investment over a period of time." Typically, cash-strapped companies use rights issues to raise money when they really need it. In these rights offerings, companies grant shareholders the right, but not the obligation, to buy new shares at a discount to the current trading price. The last time RIL tapped the public for funds was in 1991 when it had issued convertible debentures. The debentures were subsequently converted into equity shares at Rs 55 apiece. As part of its balance sheet deleveraging plans, RIL is talking to Saudi Aramco for selling a fifth of its oil-to-chemicals business for an asking of USD 15 billion and has sold half of its fuel retail venture to BP Plc for Rs 7,000 crore and telecommunication tower business to Brookfield for Rs 25,200 crore. Together, proceeds from these transactions will result in a reduction in RIL's net debt. "The Board was also informed that the company expected to complete the capital raising programme totalling over Rs 1.04 lakh crore by Q1 of the current financial year. Reliance to raise Rs 53,125 cr via 1:15 rights issue at Rs 1,257 per share

Once the Rs 4,447 crore (about $568 million) acquisition of <keyword id="12724311" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="blinkit" source="Orion">Blinkit</keyword> is closed, <keyword id="830092" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="zomato" source="Orion">Zomato</keyword> will experiment with cross leveraging its customers base for Blinkit and vice versa, its Founder and CEO <keyword id="476451" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="deepinder-goyal" source="Orion">Deepinder Goyal</keyword> has stressed. Goyal said that in India, super brands will work better than super apps. "Which means that the Blinkit app will continue to operate independently. We will also start working on integrating the delivery fleet back-ends which should drive higher delivery efficiency over time," he said in the letter to shareholders. Tech integrations between the two companies will accelerate the pace of progress at both ends, he added. According to the company, the losses for Blinkit are coming down every month -- from Rs 2,040 million (about $26 million) in January 2022 to Rs 929 million ($12 million) in July. "The losses have come down owing to a) operating leverage and b) improved execution. As the GOV (gross order value) per day per store goes up, losses come down given the high operating leverage in the business," said Zomato CFO Akshant Goyal. The company said that Blinkit has also shut down a number of unviable dark stores, which were not scaling and the team will continue to evaluate non-performing stores. In just six months, the Blinkit business has scaled to 20 per cent of Zomato's food delivery GOV while being present in less than 15 cities. According to Akshant, Zomato took about 45 months since the launch of food delivery to get to the current monthly GOV scale of Blinkit. Deepinder said that there is a misconception that Zomato would have gotten to the same (or perhaps bigger) scale and size had we launched quick commerce organically seven months ago. Akshant added that in Gurugram, Blinkit GOV is 70 per cent of Zomato food delivery GOV (for June). "Quick commerce cuts across a wide range of essential spends including grocery, fruits and vegetables, beauty and personal care, OTC medicines, stationery items, among others. Therefore, we expect the overall customer base, average order value as well as monthly order frequency to be higher than food delivery," he mentioned. With continued solid execution and synergy realisation with Zomato, post the transaction, the Blinkit journey to profitability "should only accelerate", the company noted. Zomato reported Rs 185.7 crore in consolidated loss for the quarter ending June 30, compared to a loss of Rs 359.7 crore in the previous quarter. The consolidated revenue saw 67 per cent increase at Rs 1,413.9 crore from Rs 844.4 crore (same quarter last year), and 16.68 per cent up from Rs 1,211.8 crore in the last reported quarter. Zomato, Blinkit will cross-leverage each other's customer base soon, says Deepinder Goyal

"At Rs 1,189 crore, growing 31 per cent YoY (year-on-year), the company reported its highest ever and 19th consecutive quarter of PAT growth on the back of strong operational performance and execution excellence across all its businesses of generation, transmission &amp; distribution, and renewables," Tata Power said in a statement. According to the statement, these businesses contributed 84 per cent of the PAT (net profit) in Q1FY25, compared to 72 per cent in the same period in FY24. The statement showed that the consolidated net profit before exceptional items was Rs 906 crore in the quarter ended June 30, 2023. The company's revenue rose 12 per cent YoY to a record high of Rs 16,810 crore (from Rs 15,003 crore in Q1 FY24), and EBITDA grew 11 per cent to Rs 3,350 crore in the reported quarter (from Rs 3,005 crore in Q1 FY24). EBITDA refers to earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization. "All our businesses have grown profitably on the back of operational efficiency, execution excellence, and sustained business momentum," said Praveer Sinha, CEO and Managing Director, Tata Power. He informed that the planned capex for this financial year is Rs 20,000 crore and the company is committed to adopting and leading the new and emerging clean energy technologies, including pumped hydro projects, hydropower projects in Bhutan, and opportunities to develop small modular nuclear reactors as the government policy evolves. The company has recorded a capex investment of Rs 4,000 crore in Q1FY25. It has a clean and green installed capacity of 6.1 GW as of Q1FY25, accounting for 41 per cent of the capacity, with another 5.3 GW under execution. The combined order pipeline for utility-scale EPC and solar rooftop, including group captive, is Rs 15,500 crore. Tata Power is poised to garner 20 per cent market share in the residential rooftop segment on the back of its new solar manufacturing facility and strong pan-India channel partner network, it said. Tata Power net profit up 31% to ₹1,189 crore in June quarter

New Delhi, Apr 30 () Oil-to-telecom conglomerate Reliance Industries on Thursday posted its biggest drop in quarterly net profit, even as it announced India's largest rights issue and said the Saudi Aramco deal was on track and more strategic investors have evinced interest in buying a stake in its digital platform. Net profit in January-March slipped 37 per cent to Rs 6,546 crore, the lowest in three years, as a rise in consumer-facing business was not enough to shield the firm from fall in the petrochemical business. The profit was also down due to one-off spending. The company's board approved a rights issue of Rs 53,125 crore, which it said was the biggest in India and the first by RIL in three decades. "The price of rights issue has been determined at Rs 1,257 per share and the share ratio at 1:15," the company said in a statement. On the back of last week's USD 5.7 billion (Rs 43,574 crore) Facebook investment in the company's recently created digital arm Jio Platform, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) said it is expected to complete capital raising of over Rs 1.04 lakh crore before June. Besides Facebook's 9.99 per cent investment in Jio Platforms and the upcoming rights issue, this fund includes Rs 7,000 crore that it got for selling 49 per cent stake in the fuel retailing business to BP plc of the UK. The company said it is in talks with other strategic and financial investors for a Facebook-sized deal in Jio Platform -- the unit that houses India's youngest but biggest mobile operator. Without revealing the identity of the companies, RIL in its fourth-quarter earnings statement said the investment would be announced in the coming months. The firm further said its board has approved hiving off its USD 75 billion worth oil-to-chemicals business into a separate division to enable the sale of a 20 per cent stake in the unit to Saudi Arabia's national oil company Saudi Aramco. The hiving off will be subject to the approval of the National Company Law Tribunal. "Saudi Aramco due diligence process is on track," it said, without giving timelines for completion of the deal. The firm's billionaire owner Mukesh Ambani had in August last year announced the deal as part of plans to cut debt at the firm to zero by March 2021. The deal was to conclude by March 2020. In the fourth quarter, the company said it had an exceptional item of Rs 4,267 crore which dented the profit. Revenue fell 2.5 per cent to Rs 151,209 crore. Net profit excluding exceptional items increased by 3.7 per cent to Rs 10,813 crore, it said. This is the second quarter in 2019-20 that saw a dip in profit. It had reported a quarter-on-quarter decline in Q1 FY20. Commenting on the results, Ambani, chairman and managing director of RIL, said: "Today I am pleased to announce that despite the daunting challenges arising from the fallout of the global pandemic, our company has once again delivered a resilient performance for FY 2019-20." "Our O2C (Oil to Chemicals) businesses delivered sustained earnings due to its integrated portfolio, cost-competitiveness, feedstock flexibility, and product placement capabilities. We continue to operate all our major facilities at near-normal utilisation levels," he said. The consumer-facing business of retail and telecom further strengthened their leadership positions and recorded robust growth on all operating and financial parameters during the year, he said. "We are fully committed on our investment plans in our consumer businesses and new initiatives. We are at the doorsteps of a huge opportunity and our rights issue and all other equity transactions will strengthen Reliance and position us to create substantial value for all our stakeholders," he said. While oil refining margins rose for the second consecutive quarter, the company opened 468 retail stores and added 26 per cent more subscribers to its Jio mobile phone service that helped increase the profitability of the venture. But the weakness in its traditional petrochemical businesses continued. The operator of the world's largest oil refining complex saw pre-tax earnings from the business rise 28.2 per cent to Rs 5,706 crore in the fourth quarter of the current fiscal year. It earned USD 8.9 on turning every barrel of crude oil into fuel, as compared to a gross refining margin (GRM) of USD 8.2 per barrel in January-March 2019. The GRM was, however, lower than USD 9.2 per barrel earned in Q3. With its retail store strength rising to 11,784 from 11,316 at the end of the third quarter, the retail business posted a 20 per cent jump in pre-tax profit to Rs 2,062 crore. Reliance Jio, the group's telecom arm, posted a standalone net profit of Rs 2,331 crore, which was 177.5 per cent more than the previous year, as subscriber base swelled to 387.5 million. Earning per subscriber rose to 130.6 per month from Rs 128.4 in the previous quarter. The petrochemical business saw pre-tax profit drop 24 per cent to Rs 4,553 crore on fall in product prices. Loss in the oil and gas exploration and production business widened to Rs 485 crore from Rs 267 crore in Q4 FY19. Having completed its major investment cycle, Reliance said its outstanding debt rose to Rs 336,294 crore as on March 31, 2020, from Rs 306,851 crore as on December 31, 2019. New Delhi, Apr 23 () Facebook Inc's USD 5.7 billion investment in Jio Platforms, subsidiary of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), will help to monetise the digital platforms of both companies and aid in deleveraging of RIL's balance sheet, Fitch Ratings said on Thursday. Facebook's investment for a 9.99 per cent stake in Jio Platforms is the single-largest FDI in the Indian telecoms and technology sector. Reliance Jio, the wireless market leader with around 390 million subscribers, is a subsidiary of Jio Platforms. At the same time, Reliance Retail, RIL's retail arm, has also partnered with Facebook's WhatsApp to allow RIL's e-commerce business users to use the WhatsApp platform. Fitch said it had in August last year revised the outlook on RIL's 'BBB' rating to 'positive' and may upgrade to 'BBB+' if "net adjusted debt/EBITDA ratio improves to below 1.5x on a sustained basis". "The deal is part of RIL's plan to strengthen its businesses and to achieve a net cash position - through partnerships and supported by organic growth and lowcapex," Fitch said in a statement. "We expect the partnership with Facebook to bolster RIL's consumer business in the medium term." The rating agency said the proceeds from the transaction should help RIL maintain the pace of its deleveraging - counteracting the likely weakness in its refining and petrochemical segment during 2020-21. Fitch expects RIL's oil-to-chemical segment to face volume and margins headwinds due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in line with the industry trend. "We expect the pandemic to weaken demand for refined products and petrochemicals in Asia-Pacific during 2020, with a gradual recovery through 2021 to pre-COVID-19 levels. However, RIL should be less affected than peers, due to the high complexity of its refineries and integrated petrochemical operations with feedstock flexibility," it said. The deal, it said, will allow both Facebook and Jio to monetise their digital platforms, engage customers online, and provide direct connectivity between users and merchants. Usage of digital platforms is likely to grow significantly in the medium-term amid severe disruptions caused by lockdowns and social distancing measures. Increasing reliance on digital platforms might also assist RIL in gaining market share in India's growing e-commerce segment, and soften the impact of lower footfalls in its physical retail stores. "Jiomart, which is a market-place platform and built in partnership with small merchants and 'kirana' (small neighbourhood retail store) shops, will allow users to buy goods and services using WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. Jio Platforms will focus on introducing digital solutions for 60 million micro, small and medium businesses; 120 million farmers; 30 million merchants; and millions of SMEs in the informal sector," Fitch said. On its part, Facebook is likely to be able to expand its platforms - including Facebook Marketplace, Instagram Shopping and Facebook Pay - to help SMEs set up virtual shops on such platforms and sell goods and services. Facebook plans to roll out WhatsApp Payments in India and other countries this year, after having tested this with a million people in India in 2018. WhatsApp Platform, which has started charging businesses, is still offered free to retail users globally, it said. Facebook reported 641 million daily active users (DAU) in APAC in 4Q19, up by 14 per cent year-on-year and now contributing around 39 per cent of overall 1.7 million DAUs. India is the single-largest market with about 330 million monthly users, and also one of the fastest-growing markets for Facebook. WhatsApp's messaging app also has the largest user base in India, with about 400 million users. "We believe internet users in the country will rise to at least 800 million by 2022, up from around 600 million in 2019 as India overtook the US to become the world's second-largest smartphone market after China by unit shipments in 2019. Facebook deal to help Reliance monetise platforms, deleverage: Fitch

New Delhi, Apr 28 () Billionaire Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) will on Thursday consider a rights issue - the first such issue in nearly three decades - as it steps up efforts to pare debt. The Board of the country's largest company will meet on April 30 to consider and approve audited financial results of the firm for the quarter and year ended March 31 as also to recommend dividend, RIL said in a regulatory filing. It would also "consider a proposal to issue equity shares to existing shareholders on Rights basis, as may be permitted under applicable law, subject to such regulatory/statutory approvals, as may be required," the company said without giving details. The move comes within days of RIL agreeing to sell 9.99 per cent stake in its digital platform to Facebook Inc for USD 5.7 billion or Rs 43,574 crore. Ambani had in August last year unveiled plans to cut debt to zero by 2021. As part of this plan, RIL has been seeking strategic partnerships across its businesses while targeting to deleverage the balance sheet. At the end of December quarter, RIL had an outstanding debt of Rs 3,06,851 crore. It also had cash in hand of Rs 1,53,719 crore, bringing the net debt position to Rs 1,53,132 crore. Analysts expect dilution of at least 5 per cent through the rights issue. In other words, each shareholder will be entitled to apply for five new shares for every 100 shares held. This will help RIL raise about Rs 40,000 crore, assuming some discount to the current trading price. Typically, cash-strapped companies use rights issues to raise money when they really need it. In these rights offerings, companies grant shareholders the right, but not the obligation, to buy new shares at a discount to the current trading price. The last time RIL tapped the public for funds was in 1991 when it had issued convertible debentures. The debentures were subsequently converted into equity shares at Rs 55 apiece. As part of its balancesheet deleveraging plans, RIL is talking to Saudi Aramco for selling a fifth of its oil-to-chemicals business for an asking of USD 15 billion and has sold half of its fuel retail venture to BP Plc for Rs 7,000 crore and telecommunication tower business to Brookfield for Rs 25,200 crore. But the crash in oil prices has created uncertainty over the timeline for the completion of the Aramco deal. On August 12, 2019, RIL announced that it has signed a non-binding letter of intent to sell a 20 per cent stake in its oil-to-chemical (O2C) business to Saudi Aramco. The O2C business, which has an enterprise valuation of USD 75 billion, includes RIL's refining and petrochemical divisions, and RIL's 51 per cent stake in its fuel marketing business. The company had sold a 49 per cent stake in its fuel marketing business in India to BP Plc for USD 1 billion. In July 2019, RIL announced the sale of its telecommunications tower business - which was already transferred to the investment infrastructure trust, InvIT, to Brookfield Asset Management Inc for Rs 25,200 crore.
