It's not just Hindi films that are facing the heat in theatres, films across the world are facing the issue of a low footfall in theatres because the pandemic has triggered a change in the behavioural pattern of the audience." She further mentioned that people are very cautious about visiting crowded places and cinema halls. "I feel it's just a phase and our films will soon bounce back strongly. We, as an industry, are working on it, changing gears and figuring out the way forward at individual levels. She has juggled between multiple roles internally, from research to marketing and Titan feels like her second home now. She moved to Titan’s jewellery brand Tanishq, as head of design, innovation and development in 2017. She has been helping the brand take its design game to the next level, despite not being from a design background. It is considered a valuable and strategic asset because it helps companies remain relevant in a world that is undergoing unprecedented change, connect with consumers at a personal level and stand out in a sea of competitors. According to Kant, Titan was the first brand in India to come up with innovative design solutions and trendy products. It was an era where watches served a functional purpose and Titan’s design team decided to disrupt the industry by launching watches as a fashion accessory. Today, designs are created not just keeping the aesthetics in mind but also the functionality of the product, which has helped the brand become the world's 5th largest watchmaker. Walking us through the process of product designing and development, Kant said, “There are three key aspects to our design process. The first is the consumer, for whom you are designing, what are the needs, what are our aspirations, what is the new thing we are going to bring to the table. Second is finding key trends. We are all influenced by trends in a very big way. And especially, the pandemic has changed long-held mindsets: our attitude, behaviour and actions are all influenced by trends. So it's very important for us to be constantly looking at how trends influence our categories. And third, and the most important thing is whenever we create a design, it is not just the product we create, we create a story, we create a narrative, and this whole thing is dependent on what we call the ‘Design Stories.’” Kant and her team are living the dream. They travel to different destinations to incorporate real-life insights into their product designs. They call it, ‘immersion trips’. She is required to spend time at various locations of India to bring in a new, immersive perspective into her product designs. However, her job is not all play. Every new product that Titan works on requires thorough research, diligent execution that pays equal attention to both ergonomics and style. A Chief Designer Officer is also required to supervise customer orientation and excel management skills. “We immerse ourselves in the theme, which could be online immersion, and if things are fine, we always believe in immersing ourselves in that particular situation. For example, if temple architecture or a palace is the inspiration, you really need to be there -- we visit these places, look at them, experience its touch and feel, try to understand the nuances, gathering all that could which could inspire an individual,” shared Kant. <div type="image" title="30" msid="81065805" hostid="261"></div> “After interpreting it, we consider various constraints that could affect the manufacturing and designing process: it could be the manufacturing or budgetary constraints, we bring the business reality into it. The team then comes back, ideates and decides on a design for a particular product, be it watches, eyewear, fragrances or jewellery. Then it is fleshed out in the form of a product, which is shared with the internal stakeholders. Then we look at the feedback, if there are any, and look at it from a marketing point of view: how differentiated it's likely to be, what is its purpose in the market, how is it going to take on competition, is it going to be an image builder, is it going to act to the core. So, there are a lot of things which go around it. And once it is accepted collectively by both the design team and our internal stakeholder, it goes into this process of development,” she added. To bring this vision into reality, Kant then supervises the development process which starts with 2D sketching, 3D drawings, 3D prototyping, matching the product with the original inspiration, designer’s vision and then marketing comes into the picture. At Titan, the amount of time invested in ideation and conceptualisation differs from category to category but generally takes about 2-3 months. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Evolving with changing times" text="Evolving with changing times">Evolving with changing times</cmsannotation> While design has always been a part of Titan’s DNA, the process itself has undergone a lot of change over the years. It has evolved from being a look-good factor to solving a problem for consumers. Walking us through design’s evolution, Kant said, “Fundamentally, if you look at design from a macro perspective, it was just considered a feel-good factor in the early days. It was not seen as an integral aspect, design was seen as something which is aesthetically good but the fact is design is much beyond aesthetics, it is not just something which looks good. The purpose of design is to solve problems today and looking good is a very important part of it but it has to function fabulously and meet with the user's needs. The whole thing about comfort, about safety about ergonomics is such an important part in design. For example, for jewellery, security also plays an important role -- how secure is it? Even a small thing can’t fall off.” <div type="image" title="32" msid="81065690" hostid="261"></div> Today, as gen-z and millennials prefer comfort over fashion, Titan’s design has also started expanding its product range. They prefer light jewellery and minimal watches. Titan has always tried to keep consumer research and trends at its forefront to stay ahead of the curve and cater to a wide set of audiences. On how a traditional company like Titan has evolved with time, Kant said, “As we progress, we will be catering to the alpha kids, kids of millennials and to the generation coming after that, because we are a company which keeps pace with the consumer. Consumer behaviour is constantly changing and that has an impact on what we create because we are very clear that we are creating for the consumer. So if you are talking about the millennials and the Gen Z, to whom the Fastrack Run caters to or it could be our Zoop, which will cater to much younger TG, it is all about keeping pace and understanding the consumer. So it comes easily because there are two things which are constantly changing, which is at the root of our process, consumer and trends. As long as we track them closely, we can create a product for anyone and anywhere.” There’s a lot of pressure on a Design Officer to bring in differentiation in each product launch. Kant says that finding the fine balance between differentiation and relevance is what will give any business success. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="COVID’s impact on product designing process" text="COVID’s impact on product designing process">COVID’s impact on product designing process</cmsannotation> Titan’s immersive trips have come to a halt after COVID. Consumers have become more price-conscious and started caring about the environment more than ever before. Titan is also focusing on minimalism, sustainability and well-being. On a fundamental level, Titan had to move its whole designing process online. Sharing how COVID impacted Titan, Kant said, “We are trying to approve products, get this whole piece done online and that is a shift and we’re all getting used to it. And moving forward, I'm sure we will see a lot of benefits in this particular process which we will adapt even when we come back to a normal situation. It could be in terms of cutting down on travel cost, cutting down on time, faster approvals, saving a lot of time, there’s clarity in decision, these are the plus points of possibly doing it online. We will take the benefits of this and incorporate it and come up with a hybrid way of working, which will work well for us.” <div type="image" title="titan Traq" msid="81065731" hostid="261"></div> Titan is also experimenting with more colours and trying to bring in self-expression and optimism in its pieces. At the same time, it is trying to offer its consumers a little comfort zone that takes them down a memory lane and reminds of better days. “From August to September last year, there was a lot more optimism and people were looking up to doing things. So if I were to talk from the lifestyle space, there's a little more color because people are waiting to breathe, open out and do things which we have not been doing for the last many months. This whole thing of expressing oneself is getting translated. So when I talk from a jewelry point of view, it's more of a little more of a color, a little more of a celebration, more of optimism, a little more of positivity, all of that is sitting there, which as we move forward, and as things also around us kind of become better is something which will certainly happen. And nostalgia is another big piece, which I see continuing for a while. So all of these will certainly have a big impact on what we create and how we design,” said Kant. Apart from creating trendy products for Titan, this year, Kant’s focus would be to stick to fundamentals and help her team navigate the challenges that COVID throws in their way. A lot of her teammates live alone or are feeling isolated and as a leader, she will focus on motivating the team, looking optimistically at the future, and really charging them up.

The basic plot of the film goes like this – 10 strangers stranded on an island get killed one by one. The film has everything that’s synonymous with edge-of-the-seat experience – suspense, thrill, fear, perfect characterisation and of course, a haunting song, Gumnaam hai koi. 
 
4. Jaani Dushman (1979) 
The story of Jaani Dushman is based in a village, which is notorious for the mysterious killings of brides dressed in red. The bidaai song Chalo re doli uthao kahaar is an indication that another bride is going to be attacked by a mysterious monster. The creature can’t be killed as every time someone tries to kill it, it leaves its own body and possesses the body of the person who tries to kill it. The multi-starrer film was a box-office hit. 
 
5. 100 Days (1991) 
More than a horror film, 100 Days is a spine-chilling entertainer starring <keyword id="6355846" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Madhuri-Dixit">Madhuri Dixit</keyword>, <keyword id="297" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Jackie-Shroff">Jackie Shroff</keyword> and <keyword id="675553" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="40" keywordseo="Jaaved-Jaffery">Jaaved Jaffery</keyword>. 7. Vaastu Shastra (2004) 
A family including a couple and their son, as well as the wife’s sister, shifts to a new house. Just when they begin to live happily, the boy starts interacting with kids whom no one else can see. Initially, the parents dismiss it as child’s fancy but as things start to take a gory turn, they begin to take notice. But unfortunately, it’s too late by then. 
 
8. 1920 (2008) 
Haunted houses are hot favourites of those who love the horror genre and 1920 is a period film that portrays a haunted haveli (castle). A married couple comes to live in the haveli and experiences mysterious happenings, which are out of human control. If you believe in God and His power to save one from evil spirits, you will enjoy this film. 
 
9. 13 B Although this movie is marred by poor direction, the plot makes it a must-watch. The protagonist, R. <keyword id="4759" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Madhavan">Madhavan</keyword>, shifts to a new house 13-B but under a mysterious scheme of things, his life gets connected to a TV serial. Whatever happens in the TV serial, also happens with his family in real life. What’s more, that serial only comes on their TV. The film hooks you from the first frame till the last. 
 
10. Ragini MMS (2011) 
The movie has been partially inspired by the 2007 Hollywood horror flick, Paranormal Activity. It also takes cues from the real life incident of a Delhi-based girl called Deepika. She reportedly fell prey to a spirit’s wrath at a haunted house where her boyfriend took her and tried to make an MMS without her knowledge. The film was produced by <keyword id="378" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Jeetendra">Jeetendra</keyword> and <keyword id="154993" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Shobha-Kapoor">Shobha Kapoor</keyword> of Balaji Telefilms.

Production banner Yash Raj Films in a media statement stated about the two songs sung by Arijit in "Tiger 3". The first song "Leke Prabhu Ka Naam", a dance number featuring Salman and <keyword id="6354850" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="katrina-kaif" source="Orion">Katrina Kaif</keyword>, will be out on Monday. The second song is a romantic track. <keyword id="12352996" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="pritam" source="Orion">Pritam</keyword>, the composer of "Tiger 3", expressed his excitement about the first partnership between the two renowned performers. "It was a collaboration that was waiting to happen. Salman Khan is one of the biggest superstars and Arijit Singh, our generation's top singing sensation. These two stalwarts coming together for a song was long overdue and we are thrilled that it is happening for 'Tiger 3'," Pritam said in a statement. The third installment in the "Tiger" franchise is directed by Maneesh Sharma. The spy-thriller will see Salman and Katrina reprising their roles. Arijit Singh to sing for Salman Khan for the first time in 'Tiger 3'

Bengaluru, Mar 7 () Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa would present the state budget for the fiscal year 2021-22 in the assembly on Monday. The Chief Minister, who holds the finance portfolio, had already hinted that the effect of COVID-19 would be visible on the budget. "Amid the COVID-19 situation, we have to ensure development in all the districts across Karnataka. This time emphasis would be on women empowerment, tourism, agriculture and irrigation," the CM had said. According to a government official, hopes are pinned on the ongoing vaccination drive against COVID-19, people's willingness and the reduction of cases in the coming months. Just before the outbreak of pandemic in India, Yediyurappa in the budget on March 5, 2020 had presented an outlay of Rs 2,37,893 crore. The Bangalore Political Action Committee (B.PAC), which aims at improving governance said the budget this year should focus more on improving education and health, environment, increasing mobility and enhancing infrastructure. The managing trust and CEO of B.PAC Revathy Ashok told : "Improving mobility is also an important area to focus on. More emphasis should be on electric mobility and infrastructure development." Lockdown effect: Deve Gowda's grandson marriage to be low-key

Bhubaneswar, Dec 13 () The RBI Central Board on Friday reviewed functioning of the urban cooperative banks and enforcement framework in the backdrop of scam in the Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative (PMC) Bank affecting lakhs of depositors.
 The Central Board headed by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das also discussed the current economic situation, as well as the domestic and global challenges facing the country, the central bank said in a release.
 "The Board's discussions focussed on issues related to urban cooperative banks, extension of enforcement policy and framework to cooperative banks and NBFCs (non-banking financial companies)," it said.
 Following exposure of scam in the PMC Bank, which had over 9.15 lakh depositors, the RBI had imposed restrictions on withdrawals.
 Statutory inspection of PMC by the RBI had revealed large group exposure toward Housing Development and Infrastructure Ltd (HDIL) Group companies to the tune of about Rs 6,226.01 crore (inclusive of interest accrued in the related accounts).
 Out of the total exposure of Rs 6,226.01 crore at the end of March 2019 to the HDIL group, only Rs 439.58 crore was disclosed to the RBI and remaining Rs 5,786.43 crore remained undisclosed.
 The RBI release further said the report on trend and progress of banking in India for the year 2018-19 and other policy and operational issues.
 RBI Deputy Governors N S Vishwanathan, B P Kanungo and Mahesh Kumar Jain and other directors of the Central Board -- N Chandrasekaran, Bharat Doshi, Sudhir Mankad, Manish Sabharwal, Ashok Gulati, Prasanna Kumar Mohanty, Satish Marathe, Swaminathan Gurumurthy and Revathy Iyer, attended the meeting.

Bengaluru, Apr 17 () Scores of people thronged afarmhouse to get a glimpse of the wedding of former PrimeMinister and JD(S) supremo, H D Deve Gowda's grandson NikhilKumaraswamy, ignoring appeals not to visit the venue in viewof the ongoing lockdown in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.Nikhil, son of former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy,tied the nuptial knot with Revathi, the grand-niece of formerKarnataka housing minister M Krishnappa.The marriage was solemnised at Kumaraswamy'sKethaganahalli farmhouse at Bidadi in the neighbouringRamanagara district, a JD(S) stronghold."The information we have is that at least 150 to 200vehicles were given permission to attend the event. Thishappened when the social workers who want to serve the badlyaffected poor people are not getting permission to run theirvehicles," Ramanagar BJP district president M Rudresh alleged."Till now Ramanagara is safe from coronavirus and is inthe green zone. If at all the disease spreads in Ramanagara,the entire blame will be on Deve Gowda's family," Rudreshalleged.He also said that he would meet the DeputyCommissioner and the Superintendent of Police of Ramanagaradistrict and ask them how permission was granted for such a"large gathering".JD(S) MLC T A Sharavana denied allegations that thelockdown norms were flouted."There were only eight people on the stage to performrituals as against the claim that people crowded the venue.Social distancing was maintained throughout the marriage,"Sharavana told P T I.JD(S) leader N H Konaraddi also denied the accusationssaying that all the norms were followed."Whatever central guidelines are there, we have themfollowed in toto. The social distancing norm has also beenadhered to," he said.Sources said the family was forced to shelve grandplans in view of the COVID-19 lockdown with only close familymembers in attendance.With congregation of any type not allowed during thelockdown to check the spread of coronavirus, Kumaraswamyexplained in a video message earlier this week that the eventwill be a low-key family affair with minimum number of people.He had also appealed to his party workers, relativesand well-wishers not to visit the venue.According to him, after the lockdown was announced,the marriage was planned at their home here itself but sincesocial distancing will be a challenge, it was decided toorganise it in Ramanagara. Reliance Industries led the gainers on the exchanges and modest gains were seen on pharma and fertiliser stocks. 
 The <keyword id="6354813" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="nifty">Nifty</keyword> rose 8 points to trade at 8,246 at the start of the week. Reliance Industries, Vedanta, Lupin, Cairn and Wipro posted gains on the Index while Tata Motors, HCL Tech, Zee, ONGC and Tech Mahindra slipped in trade. The Nifty's Advance-Decline Ratio stood at 20/29 and RIL, Jet Airways and HCL Technologies were the top traded stocks on the National Stock Exchange. 
 Broader markets were bathed in green although gains were modest. The CNX 100, CNX 200 and CNX 500 indices rose more than 0.2 percent each. Gains were higher on the Mid Cap and Small Cap benchmarks. The trend was mixed on the sectoral indices with benchmarks representing the Auto, <keyword id="25455" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="finance">Finance</keyword>, IT and Media sectors slipping in trade. Strong gains were seen on the CNX Energy index as also on the pharma and PSU banking spaces. 
 Sentiment was soft on the Bombay Stock Exchange with the <keyword id="6484188" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sensex">Sensex</keyword> gaining 87 points, or 0.3 percent, to 27,302 points. GAIL, Infosys, Bharti, Axis and Hero Motors were among the gainers while Bajaj Auto, Coal India and ICICI Bank figured on the losers list on the index where the Advance-Decline Ratio stood at 1:1. 
 
Reliance, Tata Motors and State Bank of India were the top traded stocks on the Sensex. 
 
Bulls were in control in the futures and options space, but only just. 89 futures advanced compared with 73 that fell. Mid Caps dominated the gainers list with Futures of Amtek Auto, Kaveri Seed, McLeod Russel and Hindustan Zinc surging ahead. Mild profit booking was seen on futures of LIC Housing Finance, Adani Enterprises, Grasim, Ceat and Power Grid. 
 
Godrej Consumer Products, Godfrey Philips, Revathi Equipment and Repro India were among the stocks ticking on the top volume buzzers charts.

In honour of World <keyword id="19472" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="aids">AIDS</keyword> day, we’ve enlisted <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword> movies, which did their bit to raise awareness about Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). 
	 

	1. <keyword id="37967" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Phir-Milenge">Phir Milenge</keyword> 

	This is perhaps the first movie that comes to our mind when we think of Bollywood movies on AIDS. Starring Salman Khan, Shilpa Shetty and Abhishek Bachchan, it was directed by Revathi. The movie, which was releases in 2004, was appreciated by critics for strong performances and a novel way of dealing with the myths about AIDS. The movie did a business of Rs 2,99,06,142 and was declared a flop.

	2. My Brother… Nikhil 

	This 2005 movie was directed by Onir starred Sanjay Suri, Juhi Chawla and Purab Kohli in lead roles. It is said to be based on the story of Dominic D’Souza, an Indian AIDS activist. Suri played a homosexual swimmer who contracts HIV and finds support from his sister and partner. The performances of the star cast were appreciated by all. It The movie, made on a small budget, garnered Rs 1,20,00,094 at the box office.

It was made on a tight budget of Rs 3,000,000 (estimated), and remains practically unknown in the Bollywood circuit.

	This 2000 movie, directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, stars Shivaji Satam, Reema Lagoo and Nisha Bains in pivotal roles. It tells the tale of a young teenager who contracts AIDS during a blood transfusion, and how she chooses to live her life afterwards. The movie collected Rs 70,00,000 at the box office, and was later declared tax free by the government.
