Dinker Vashisht, vice president of corporate affairs at Swiggy said “Online models ensure end-to-end transaction records, age verification and adhere to limits. Further, online tech stacks synchronise with regulatory and excise requirements, ensuring adherence to timings, dry days and zonal delivery guardrails” Beer manufacturers like United Breweries and AB InBev are also interested in this concept, an industry executive told ET. “Beer blends more with grocery shopping, especially for consumers in big cities, and needs to be chilled, which limits its visibility in liquor vends.” In 2020, AB InBev started Beerbox, a platform that listed places delivering alcohol within a 3-4 km range. Will alcohol home delivery be a reality soon? Swiggy, Zomato, and Blinkit smell an opportunity

Allied Blenders and Distillers Ltd, the maker of Officer's Choice whisky, on Thursday fixed a <keyword id="19911460" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="price-band" source="keywords">price band</keyword> of Rs 267 to Rs 281 per share for its Rs 1,500-crore <keyword id="19913114" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="initial-public-offering" source="keywords">initial public offering</keyword> (IPO). The initial share-sale will open for public during June 25-27 and the bidding for anchor investors will open for a day on June 24, the company announced. Broking firms have pegged the company's <keyword id="20000950" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="market-capitalisation" source="keywords">market capitalisation</keyword> to Rs 7,860 crore post-issue. The initial share-sale comprises fresh issuance of equity shares worth Rs 1,000 crore and an Offer-for-Sale (OFS) of shares to the tune of Rs 500 crore by promoters. As a part of the OFS, Bina Kishore Chhabria, Resham Chhabria Jeetendra Hemdev and Neesha Kishore Chhabria will sell shares. Proceeds from the fresh issue worth Rs 720 crore will be used for the payment of debt. Besides, a portion will be used for general corporate purposes. The total debt on the the company's books was around Rs 808 crore as of December 2023. Half of the issue size has been reserved for qualified institutional investors, 35 per cent for retail investors and the remaining 10 per cent for non-institutional investors. Further, investors can bid for 53 shares and in multiples thereof. With a market share of over 8 per cent in <keyword id="20830317" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Made-Foreign-Liquor" source="keywords">Indian-Made Foreign Liquor</keyword> (IMFL) market by sales volumes in fiscal 2023, Allied Blenders and Distillers is engaged in the manufacturing, marketing and sale of alcoholic beverages in India and abroad. The product portfolio of the firm comprises several brands of IMFL across whisky, brandy, rum and vodka. The Delhi Cabinet may take a rational decision on the proposal this month, <a href="https://www.hindustantimes.com/cities/delhi-news/delhi-govt-may-give-nod-to-home-delivery-of-liquor-in-the-capital-101652127460746.html">according to Hindustan Times report.</a> According to the official government procedures, it is mandatory to notify the excise policy at the start of every financial year. It has remained the same in the last few years, however, it was restructured last year by the Delhi government. It added the definition of new zones and included a one-time charge at the time of bidding for vends. “If anyone home-delivers liquor as of now, it will be deemed illegal," said an excise official. The new 2021 rules stated that shops with L-13 license will be allowed to deliver both Indian and foreign alcohol/liquor to the homes of people, only if the order is received through an online web portal or app. However, this rule restricts all deliveries to hostels, offices or institutions. “Home deliveries have to be envisaged and built as a separate channel. It has a cost involved, and if it is force fitted, one of the current supply chain participants — manufacturer, distributor, retailer or consumer — will have to absorb it. That is a disincentive. Therefore, for home deliveries to succeed, an altogether new parallel distribution chain is needed which has provisions for costs and reasonable returns for all its participants,” said Vinod Giri, director general of the Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies (CIABC). The existing policy also allows vendors to <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/india/news/cheap-liquor-in-delhi-is-a-thing-of-the-past-now/articleshow/89919730.cms">give discounts</a> on liquor, however, it was discontinued by the Arvind Kejriwal-led government in February, as the discounts were attracting a lot of crowd outside liquor shops, violating COVID-19 rules and regulations. On April 2, the Delhi government allowed the vendors to offer a maximum 25% discount on the retail price. The new excise policy is still a work in progress, and reports suggest it will be announced soon. “The department has submitted some proposals for the consideration of the cabinet. It will not be a new policy but a revised one which will try to address the challenges which were identified during the implementation of the existing policy (2021-22). There is a significant potential for revenue augmentation and also providing a decent standard of customer experience at par with the stature of the national capital," an unnamed official was quoted as saying by the report. The policy document also proposed to reduce the legal drinking age from 25 years to 21 years in parity with neighbouring cities. Delhiites may soon enjoy home delivery of liquor, says report

Panaji, Feb 21 () Liquor traders in Goa on Fridayasked the state government to stop issuing any more licencesfor retail sale of alcohol as the industry has reached"saturation point".All Goa Liquor Traders Association presidentDattaprasad Naik also said if the proposed hike in excise dutyon alcohol mooted in the recent state budget is not withdrawn,the entire industry would collapse.The budget 2020-21, presented in the assembly onFebruary 6, proposed a hike in the excise duty on variousliquor brands, including local brew 'Feni'.Talking to , Naik said 2,000 retail liquor outletsalready exist for a population of 15 lakh which is sufficientto meet the requirements in Goa."There is no space for more outlets in the state. Thestate government should stop giving fresh licences for thenext three years, he said, adding the industry has reached"saturation point".Naik said besides the 2,000 retail outlets, there are8,000-10,000 bars which sell liquor across the state, apopular tourist destination.He claimed the liquor trade industry is slowlyslipping out of the hands of Goans due to "faulty" policies ofthe state government.Pointing out that former chief minister ManoharParrikar had amended the State Excise Act to make it mandatoryfor fresh applicants to have 25-year domicile certificate,Naik said this rule should also be implemented during annualrenewal of licences.When licences are taken up for renewal annually, therule of 25 years of domicile in Goa should be made compulsoryso as to stop increasing take over of the industry by non-Goans, he said.Naik admitted that several local traders haveillegally leased out their premises to non-Goans.This was the trade which was exclusively with Goans,but slowly it is slipping out of their hands. Other aspects, such as flexibility in working schedules, have also played a part in this."People are leaving because they're not feeling valued; they're not feeling as though when they bring something to a manager that they are being listened to, especially if it's a challenge," Adam Crowe, a business development manager at Larimer County Workforce Center, which helps businesses find workers, told the Coloradoan. He continued: "It's hard to say they need to be more empathetic because that feels like a slap in the face.""Over time, businesses will learn that lesson. Empathy has strong ties to production. If you take the time to really understand the needs, values, skills, and attributes of individual employees, they'll know how to support them in the very best way," he said.

As the pandemic for restaurants to close dining rooms and limit capacity, more than 30 states allowed bars and restaurants to sell alcohol to go in an effort to stay afloat. Buffet chain <keyword id="1739157" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Golden-Corral">Golden Corral</keyword> was hit especially hard by restaurant closures and is now working with Icee and Coca-Cola to sell frozen drinks like a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/golden-corral-to-expand-buffet-model-with-drive-thrus-alcohol-2021-4">Jack and Coke Icee to help attract younger customers.</a>Though alcohol sales helped restaurants survive over the past year, they might not be a tenable way forward.They're still a small piece of most restaurants' businesses, analyst Mark Kalinowski told Insider. And there are some clear challenges: it tends to be cheaper for customers to just go to a liquor store, he said. "It's a competitive business and highly fragmented even with restaurant closures."To stay competitive, restaurants will need to show that they're valuable as one-stop shops for food and alcohol.
