You may think your <keyword id="93698" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="resume">resume</keyword> is already tip-top, but put yourself in the shoes of a recruiter. <keyword id="1373952" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="hiring-managers">Hiring managers</keyword> receive dozens - sometimes hundreds - of resumes for any given opening.<br />
<br />

	They don't have the time or resources to review each one closely, so they spend approximately six seconds on their initial "fit/no fit" decision.<br />
	<br />
	To them, most look exactly like all the other nondescript resumes in their pile. If you’re using the same tired phrases as everyone else, you’re not as exciting—or as hirable—as you thought you were.<br />
	 

	You may be perfect for the job, but just one typo, if it's formatted poorly, or you use the wrong font, could get them to say a NO. So, here prepare to not face such a situation at all:

	<strong>1. Avoid meaningless adjectives</strong>
A resume can fail to make the impact with the use of phrases like “seasoned manager” or “influential leader” without an accompanying explanation. It’s a better idea to drop the qualitative description and add years of experience, job-specific technical skills and quantifiable achievements instead.<br />
<br />
<strong>2. “I am Creative…” Naaah!</strong><br />
“Creative” might seem like the perfect word to describe your unique personality, but not when thousands of other applicants think the same thing. Instead of telling the recruiter you’re creative, show them evidence of your creativity.<br />
<br />
<strong>3. Remove “results-oriented.”</strong><br />
What exactly do you mean when you describe yourself as “results-oriented”? Do you aim to hit the goals your employer sets for you? That should be a given. Every employer wants employees who drive results. So prove to the recruiter you’re that person with details, and nix the empty and nondescript “results-oriented.” This description is subjective. Instead, highlight your skills and accomplishments by using the names of the projects or campaigns you worked on, then include the results for said projects.<br />

<strong>4. “Passionate” equals to desperation</strong><br />
Recruiters are likely to think you’re passionate about what you do, or they might think you’re desperately looking for a job. The verity of your enthusiasm can easily be checked through your social media profiles. If you really love what you do, your Facebook and Twitter accounts would show work-related status updates, reflecting how excited you are about what’s happening in your job. Replace the word with solid examples of how much you love what you do, such as details about personal projects related to your line of work. For instance, if you’re a programmer, include info about apps you’re developing for your own use or for fun.<br />
<br />
<strong>5. Rid your resume of “responsible for”</strong><br />
This gives the picture of a mechanical employee doing what he’s paid to do—no more, no less. Change this phrase to “managed X,” “completed X tasks,” or similar action verbs that embody leadership and initiative.<br />
<br />
<strong>6. Axe “excellent oral and written communication skills.”</strong><br />
Although this is a must-have soft skill, recruiters don’t need to see it on your resume. Because hiring managers can judge your communication skills in mere seconds! If your resume and cover letter fail to communicate why you should get an interview, then what’s the point of putting “excellent communication skills” on paper? Proofread your resume for grammar slips instead. Remove fillers and redundant phrases.<br />

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Two months after Seth and Scarlett Eskelund began #VanLife full-time, the US shut down.</li><li>The couple headed back home and started their own <keyword id="2372797" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="camper-van">camper van</keyword> conversion company aided by social media.</li><li>This business affords them the flexibility needed to go back into van life once the pandemic is over.</li></ul><p>Many of us remember exactly where we were when we first realized COVID-19 was about to jarringly disrupt our lives.</p><p>For Seth and Scarlett Eskelund, the realization hit when they were in Sedona, Arizona, a 29-hour drive from home on the East Coast. The couple had just begun their full-time <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/cabana-valentines-day-package-in-a-ford-transit-camper-van-2021-2">#VanLife</a> journey two months prior, a goal they had been working towards since early 2019 when they first purchased a used van to turn into their own <keyword id="9065995" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="tiny-home-on-wheels">tiny home on wheels</keyword>.</p><p>"It was pretty devastating for both of us," Seth Eskelund told Insider in an interview. "It was a long time in the [car ride back home] to sit and think about it and go down Interstate 40 essentially the wrong way for what we had prepared for."</p><div type="image" title="levii the van 1" height="1250" width="2500" msid="81736233" hostid="261"></div><p>However, a glimmer of hope came out of this disappointment. Along the drive back home, the couple decided to pursue their plans of buying another used van to convert into a camper, an idea they had already been toying around with.</p><p>"We wanted something that would keep us connected to the van life community," Scarlett Eskelund told Insider in an interview. "We knew we wanted this in the long run. We figured we'd do something that kept us connected to the community as a whole."</p><p>This decision then turned into Roah (pictured below), the couple's first camper van conversion after returning home during COVID-19. The moment they completed and sold the van, the duo returned to the road and began heading up to Canada for the summer.</p><div type="image" title="Louis the Van's Roah build camper van" height="1880" width="2500" msid="81736234" hostid="261"></div><p>But as we all know now, the Canadian border closed, and the couple was again forced to return home. That was when they decided to convert another van, this time out of leased warehouse space. And as the cliche goes, the rest is history, and the couple has now built five vans, including the personal camper that's been with them since the start of their van life journey.</p><p>"We joke that we're just continually forced into this in the best way possible," Scarlett Eskelund said.</p><h2>Converting and selling vans is a necessity</h2><div type="image" title="QUIN the van 1" height="1875" width="2500" msid="81736235" hostid="261"></div><p>"If we don't sell these vans, it's over, not just for the business, but … we would have no money to get back out on the road and <keyword id="6354692" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Travel">travel</keyword>," Scarlett Eskelund said. "Luckily I don't think either of us harped on that too much, because I think if we did, we definitely wouldn't have gotten into this."</p><p>The pair's 12 to 18-hour workdays grant them a rapid turnaround time. The first van they built in the warehouse, pictured below, was completed in 20 days - partially because the couple needed the financial support - and sold in three weeks.</p><div type="image" title="QUIN 2" height="1250" width="2500" msid="81736236" hostid="261"></div><p>Ironically, that van was the longest it has ever taken the couple to sell a finished van. Their "list-to-sell" time normally sits at around two to three weeks, which Seth Eskelund says is "pretty quick."</p><p>Relying on public interest after a van has been completed - instead of doing custom builds - may seem risky. But so far, this business decision has paid off with the help of the couple's <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZiRzGOlxC_flHL_rL-KuOg">YouTube</a> and <a href="https://www.instagram.com/louisthevan/?hl=en">Instagram</a> presence, which have almost 70,000 subscribers and 21,000 followers, respectively. All of the couple's buyers have found their vans through Instagram, where the Eskelund's will do daily check-ins on their in-progress vans.</p><p>Within two to three weeks after a camper van sells, the pair will have another used van in the garage, ready to convert again.</p><h2>Their pricing methods aren't an industry-standard, but that's the point</h2><div type="image" title="levii the van 2" height="1878" width="2500" msid="81736237" hostid="261"></div><p>The Eskelund's camper vans have been a hit with customers because of their prices, according to the couple. Their tiny homes on wheels can range from a weekend warrior van to a built-out unit with a shower and toilet. But no matter the amenities, the couple aims to price "very fairly" and below the current market rate, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/custom-camper-van-company-interest-tripled-amid-pandemic-2021-1">which can often run high</a>.</p><p><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/camper-van-conversion-companies-resilience-in-sales-despite-the-coronavirus-2020-5">Camper van conversion companies</a> and <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/rv-sales-skyrocketing-as-lockdown-ends-2020-6">RV makers have seen a boom</a> in sales as more people have turned to <keyword id="1327762" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="road-travel">road travel</keyword> during COVID-19. But as a result, the camper van market has been price gouging, sometimes to the tune of an additional $60,000 to $70,000 compared to 2019 prices, according to Seth Eskelund. But when pricing their own vans, the couple doesn't want to take this route, and instead opts for a price tag that's less than the general market.</p><p>From the start, the couple's goal was to convert vans to give them something to focus on during the coronavirus pandemic. The point was never to become wealthy from the business: instead, they wanted to break even or just make a small income.</p><p>"It's a lot more than just a business and money for us," Seth Eskelund said. "I would say we are as personally invested in the vans as we are in the business, and maybe that's not smart from a business perspective on us, but that is who we are."</p><div type="image" title="QUIN the van" height="1250" width="2500" msid="81736238" hostid="261"></div><p>The pair factors in several aspects when pricing the van, including its mileage, the cost of purchasing the initial used van, and build specifications. This then leads to a price range of anywhere between $30,000 to $90,000, which is far <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/mercedes-benz-sprinter-camper-van-waitlist-2020-12">cheaper than builds from companies that have an almost $300,000 tag</a>.</p><p>There's also the added bonus of ad revenue from their YouTube videos, which allows the couple to subsidize their prices while educating the public about how to DIY a camper van.</p><p>"Obviously there is demand and a lot of supply as well, but I think that's been a factor in why we sell quickly because we really do try to price as fairly as we can," Seth Eskelund said. </p><p>As Scarlett Eskelund describes it, this is both a lifestyle and a business, giving the couple fluid "accessibility." When the COVID-19 pandemic is over, the pair will continue their business for as many months out of the year as they would like. For all the other months, they'll resume their #VanLife dreams.</p><p>"It's a means to an end," Scarlett Eskelund said. "It allows us the ability to do what we really want to do."</p>

"You have so much access to a lot of greatness."</p><p>Cook's long and winding road to the NBA emerges as a compelling subplot embedded in the greater narrative of what makes Prince George's County special.</p><p>Multiple PG County natives turned professional basketball players — including Durant and Jerian Grant — and coaches from the area spoke at length in the film about Cook's remarkable tenacity.</p><p><div type="image" title="QuinnCook1" height="1080" width="1920" msid="75769484" hostid="261"></div></p><p>"It's the cliche term of 'You can doing anything you put your mind to' but Quinn is the perfect definition of it," Keith Thomas of Coach Team Takeover said of Cook during the documentary. "He had plenty of people in his ear telling him his best route was going overseas trying to get money, but Quinn had a dream."</p><h2>Cook grew up alongside many a budding basketball star in Prince George's County</h2><p>There, the legacy of NBA, WNBA, and NCAA greats that had walked those same streets before them was palpable. He spent his first three years of high school playing for DeMatha Catholic — a well-known entity in the world of high school basketball — and notes in the film that "on my high school team we had five guys make the NBA."</p><p><div type="image" title="QuinnDeMatha0" height="480" width="720" msid="75769485" hostid="261"></div></p><p>"The thing that makes PG County so unique is that the guy you want to be like is bringing you up," Cook said. "The D1 players and NBA players bring you up because they know what they had to go through to make it."</p><p>Two-time NBA All-Star Victor Oladipo, first-round draft pick Jerian Grant, his brother, Jerami Grant, and an abundance of standouts for top-tier college programs played on Cook's junior-year squad that was ranked first in the state. He later took his talents to Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, following in the footsteps of successful point guards like Rajon Rondo, Ty Lawson, Nolan Smith, Rod Strickland, and Brandon Jennings.</p><p>"It takes a village really," Cook said. "Just having all the resources. We're a family. We all root for each other. We all want to see each other be great, and we all support each other. That's what makes our county so unique and special."</p><p><div type="image" title="quinn cook coach k" height="1786" width="2500" msid="75769486" hostid="261"></div></p><p>He committed to play for Mike Krzyzewski's Duke Blue Devils and spent four years working his way up from role player to starter and captain. He was also the heartbeat of the stacked 2014-2015 squad that hung yet another national championship banner in the rafters of Cameron Indoor Stadium.</p><h2>Still, Cook's college success wasn't enough to put him on the NBA's radar</h2><p>He watched teams pass him by with each of the 60 picks of the 2015 NBA Draft, and when it was all over, "felt sorry for myself for about two minutes."</p><p>"Every kid dreams of getting drafted," Cook said in the documentary. "I knew what I was going to wear. I knew what I was going to do as soon as I heard my name called, but it never happened."</p><p><div type="image" title="quinn cook" height="1762" width="2349" msid="75769487" hostid="261"></div></p><p>Even if Cook himself ever had any doubts that he'd find a way to achieve his dreams, those who grew up around him knew better.</p><p>"When he didn't get drafted, everybody knew he was going to be alright because that's the type of player he is," Jerian Grant said in the documentary.</p><p>Durant felt similarly.</p><p>"[Cook] called me when he didn't get drafted, and he was crying," he said in the film. "And I'm like 'Bro, you've got talent. Just keep working.' He never stopped."</p><p><div type="image" title="quinn cook kevin durant.JPG" height="1630" width="2174" msid="75769490" hostid="261"></div></p><p>"There's definitely this feeling from Kevin of just wanting to make sure Quinn is good," Kleiman told Insider. "Kevin has his own matter-of-fact way of leading, and I think that he feels a responsibility to Quinn in that way."</p><p>And on the other end of the relationship, Cook knew Durant was always part of his support system, going as far as describing him as a big brother.</p><p>"KD has always been a big brother to me and someone that I reached out to for anything," Cook told Insider. "He's reached out to me just making sure I was okay. He's always been there for me."</p><h2>Cook spent years cycling between working his way onto NBA rosters and dropping down to the D-League</h2><p>In 2016, the 6-foot-1 point guard earned D-League Rookie of the Year honors after recording 19.6 points on 47% shooting from the field in addition to 5.4 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game.</p><p><div type="image" title="quinn cook" height="1849" width="2465" msid="75769492" hostid="261"></div></p><p>He got the call up to participate in that year's NBA Summer League and subsequently signed with the New Orleans Pelicans, but the franchise waived him before the regular season started. He went back to the Canton Charge and was the MVP of the 2017 D-League All-Star Game before signing a series of 10-day contracts with various NBA teams.</p><p><div type="image" title="quinn cook" height="2248" width="1904" msid="75769493" hostid="261"></div></p><p>Though many prospects in positions similar to his may have considered taking their talents overseas, Cook never lost sight of his NBA dream and refused to waver. </p><p>"I never thought about it. I never entertained it," Cook said. "I told my agent to never bring me anything overseas. If it wasn't the NBA, I didn't want to do it. I think that's where it starts. If you're contemplating on overseas and have one foot in one foot out, you lose focus. But for me, I was zeroed in. I was focused in on making the league."</p><h2>Cook eventually found a foothold in the NBA with the Golden State Warriors</h2><p>When superstar sharpshooter Stephen Curry was sidelined with a series of injuries from late 2017 to early 2018, the D-League standout stepped up to fill the void and eventually earned a two-year deal. With Durant by his side, Cook and the 2018 Warriors won the NBA Finals. He was emotional, reflecting on his journey after the victory.</p><p>"It takes a long time to get really good at playing basketball, and a lot of those guys grind it out for a while," Durant said in the documentary. "Quinn Cook is the same way ... Just never stop working, man. That's what I tell people. Look at Quinn."</p><p>Cook has since moved on to join LeBron James and Anthony Davis in Los Angeles. He described playing for the Lakers — his favorite NBA team from childhood — as "a dream come true."</p><p>"I used to collect Lakers jerseys and gear," Cook told Insider. "We had a Lakers room in our house with all of our stuff, and it was purple and gold. The surprise feel-good story of Kevin Durant's new documentary on basketball Quinn Cook's NBA breakthrough

<ul class="summary-list"><li>On Wednesday, Skybound and Image <keyword id="39755" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="comic">Comic</keyword>s released a "Walking Dead" one-off called "Negan Lives!" exclusively in comic stores.</li><li>It debuts about a year after the "Walking Dead" comic <a href="https://www.insider.com/the-walking-dead-comic-ends-2019-7">ended its 16-year run</a> and follows what happened to Negan after issue No. 174.</li><li>In a letter to fans, the creator <keyword id="1891441" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Robert-Kirkman">Robert Kirkman</keyword> confirmed Negan was almost killed by Maggie in that issue. It's something he teased before.</li><li>Kirkman shared an email from the artist Charlie Adlard that he said made him change his mind about killing the character. Adlard said he was "a bit unconvinced" by Negan's death.</li><li>It's one reason Negan doesn't appear in the final 19 issues of the comic. Kirkman already <a href="https://www.insider.com/the-walking-dead-comic-ends-2019-7">had his ending laid out for four years</a>.</li><li>All proceeds from "Negan Lives!" are going directly to comic book stores. You can <a href="https://www.comicshoplocator.com/StoreLocator">find a store selling the issue here</a>.</li></ul><p>The "<a href="https://www.insider.com/category/the-walking-dead">Walking Dead</a>" creator <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/robert-kirkman">Robert Kirkman</a> nearly killed Negan, the foul-mouthed, bat-wielding Savior, three times in the comics.</p><p>In "<a href="https://www.skybound.com/comics/the-walking-dead/negan-lives-1-robert-kirkman-charlie-adlard">Negan Lives!</a>" the new one-shot issue of "<keyword id="952399" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="60" keywordseo="The-Walking-Dead">The Walking Dead</keyword>," Kirkman describes how he almost offed the character during one of his final comic appearances.</p><p>"Negan was supposed to die in issue #174," Kirkman wrote in the Letter Hacks section at the end of "Negan Lives!" "I even wrote the full issue script, ending with Negan's death."</p><p>In the letter, Kirkman says Negan would have been shot by Maggie in the 2017 issue. Negan brutally killed her husband, the fan favorite Glenn, years earlier in issue No. 100.</p><p>Kirkman previously teased Negan's alternative fate in the Letter Hacks of issue No. 176, writing: "Is this where I admit that in the original script Maggie shot him and Charlie asked me to change it? Is that true? Who knows?!"</p><p>At the time, it wasn't clear whether he was joking. In July's new comic, Kirkman shared the email that he said persuaded him to keep Negan alive.</p><h2>Why didn't Kirkman kill Negan? Artist and longtime collaborator Charlie Adlard 'saved' him.</h2><p><div type="image" title="negan maggie 174" height="1194" width="800" msid="76742179" hostid="261"></div></p><p>After sending the proposed script to Adlard, Kirkman received an email back. Adlard said he was "a bit unconvinced" by Negan's death and thought a redemption story would have worked for him. He suggested Negan's fate was a cliche and expressed his wish to "break the mold."</p><p>Here's the letter from Adlard to Kirkman:</p><p style="padding-left: 40px;">There we go — he's gone.</p><p style="padding-left: 40px;">I know Negan wasn't going to last, so this issue came as no surprise, unlike the Andrea saga, but it's still sad to see him go. Nicely done</p><p style="padding-left: 40px;">... except... I'm a bit unconvinced by the way Maggie shoots him. Are you trying to say that this is some sort of "id" thing where deep down inside, that's what she wants to do, even though she's being convinced she doesn't have to shoot him. It just feels a bit forced.</p><p style="padding-left: 40px;">As I said, the more I got to know Negan — especially over these last few years — the more I wished he'd stayed around till the end. I wish redemption would've worked for him. This is absolutely no criticism of you at all, but more a criticism of western [at least] literature/entertainment, where, because the majority of us find the death penalty — therefore an eye for an eye adage — abhorrent, we carry it out in fantasy. Hardly any western villain gets away with not dying at the end. We, as an audience, always demand the ultimate punishment for our fantasy bad guys. It's a shame we didn't break the mould with Negan... the baddest of bad guys, but very far down the road to redemption and forgiveness, who pays the usual ultimate price — death. Imagine, if he lived, what we could say about our society?</p><p style="padding-left: 40px;">Sorry for my diatribe, it's something I've always felt about our <keyword id="4578" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="entertainment">entertainment</keyword> industry for a while, and here seemed a good place to air it.</p><p style="padding-left: 40px;">Anyway, as you were. (<a href="https://thepopinsider.com/news/people/twd-nycc/">During the "Walking Dead" New York Comic Con panel</a> Insider attended in 2019, Kirkman acknowledged Negan was <a href="https://thepopinsider.com/news/people/twd-nycc/">his favorite character</a>.)</p><p>"Charlie's impassioned and very thoughtful email about the state of villainy in Western culture really moved me," Kirkman wrote. "Taking Negan from the vilest villain to actually being reformed was a powerful message."</p><p>"Charlie made that story way better," Kirkman continued. "You know what that is right there... a great collaborator. So I immediately knuckled down and rewrote the last six pages of the issue... and we ended up with a much more poignant and thoughtful ending that I'm far more proud of than what I'd originally done."</p><p>In issue No. 174, Maggie confronts Negan, prepared to kill him, but relents after he begs her to take his life. His attitude changes her mind. She leaves Negan with his thoughts refusing to give him what he wants so easily.</p><p><div type="image" title="maggie leaves negan twd 174" height="696" width="926" msid="76742180" hostid="261"></div></p><p>And then readers don't see Negan again until the comic's final issue.</p><p>"I knew the end of the series was coming nearly 20 issues later, and I didn't want to alter my plans by adding more Negan stories," Kirkman wrote of why the character didn't show up again until the final issue.</p><p>In issue No. 193, readers learn Negan has been living out his days in isolation on a farmhouse. He's seen putting flowers on his wife's grave near the comic's end.</p><p>"I thought #174 was a great ending for the character, with the scenes in #193 acting as a nice, vague bookend... and that was it," Kirkman said.</p><h2><strong>Kirkman was inspired to write 'Negan Lives!' to help comic shops</strong></h2><p><div type="image" title="negan lives comic store.JPG" height="2500" width="1875" msid="76742182" hostid="261"></div></p><p>At the end of "Negan Lives!" Kirkman said he was inspired to put together the comic after a conversation with a cofounder of Pacific Comics, Bill Schanes, on the state of the comic industry amid the coronavirus pandemic.</p><p>"Bill was calling up publishers and urging them to come up with 'big, loud projects' that would drive people back into comic stores, giving store owners a firm footing as they got their businesses up and running again," Kirkman wrote.</p><p>The conversation prompted Kirkman to revisit Negan while taking on the costs of publishing himself.</p><p>"I sent a brief email to Charlie, laying out the goal of driving people to stores; how we'd do the book for free, even paying for production and printing ourselves, and donate all the money to stores," Kirkman wrote.</p><p>"Charlie is a great man and jumped at the chance to do something for the store owners who got us where we are today," he added.</p><p>All proceeds from "Negan Lives!" go directly to comic shops. In addition to the regular covers with the title in a red font, some comic stores received one gold and two silver foil variant covers. Some are already going <a href="https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&amp;_nkw=negan+lives+gold+variant&amp;_sacat=0&amp;LH_TitleDesc=0&amp;_udhi=350&amp;_sop=16udhi=350&amp;_sop=16">for upward of $300 on eBay</a>.</p><h2>Is this it for 'Negan Lives!'? Kirkman: 'I'll never say never.'</h2><p><div type="image" title="negan twd 193" height="622" width="1215" msid="76742184" hostid="261"></div></p><p>Kirkman said Negan's story arc from issues No. 174 to No. 193 was his side quest to recover his wife's remains and bury them.</p><p>"I always liked the idea of Negan going on this mission to retrieve those remains and put them to rest properly," Kirkman wrote.</p><p>"I can honestly say I don't know if we'll ever actually see 'what happens next,'" he added. "To me, you see the headstone in #193, that story is pretty much told... but I'll never say never. But probably never. Probably..."</p><h2><strong>Could we see Negan get one of these alternative comic deaths on the show? Maybe, but it seems unlikely.</strong></h2><p><div type="image" title="twd 1014 negan daryl" height="2000" width="3000" msid="76742186" hostid="261"></div></p><p>While it didn't play out in the comics, there's always a chance to see the alternative play out on AMC's "The Walking Dead."</p><p>The show has been known to deviate greatly, especially in recent years, from the comic. Lauren Cohan is set to <a href="https://www.insider.com/the-walking-dead-season-10-finale-maggie-2020-4">reprise her role as Maggie</a> on the <a href="https://www.insider.com/the-walking-dead-season-10-finale-date-moved-2020-3">yet-to-be-aired season 10 finale</a> before returning as <a href="https://www.insider.com/is-maggie-returning-to-the-walking-dead-2019-10">a series regular on season 11</a>.</p><p>The idea of Maggie fatally shooting Negan is an enticing one for viewers who may still hold a grudge against Negan for brutally killing Glenn. A version of the scene from issue No. 174, however, was already adapted onto "The Walking Dead" before Cohan <a href="https://www.insider.com/maggie-leaves-the-walking-dead-2018-11">originally left the series in 2018</a>. On season nine, episode five, Maggie also intended to kill Negan during a jail-cell visit but leaves because she doesn't want to give him the satisfaction.</p><p>"I came to kill Negan, and you're already worse than dead," Maggie tells Negan. "That settles it."</p><p><div type="image" title="twd 905 maggie negan" height="2000" width="3000" msid="76742188" hostid="261"></div></p><p>Since taking over the show on season nine, the showrunner Angela Kang and the writer's room have worked on, essentially, <a href="https://www.insider.com/walking-dead-does-negan-deserve-redemption-2019-2">a redemption story arc for the character</a>. Now <a href="https://www.insider.com/walking-dead-samantha-morton-interview-2020-3">that he has killed Alpha</a>, the leader of the Whisperers, it's tough to imagine the show would consider killing him off anytime soon.</p><p>The season 10 finale is set to debut sometime later this year on AMC. The network will host a virtual "TWD" panel during San Diego Comic-Con's at home session. 'The Walking Dead' creator explains how he almost had Maggie kill Negan in the comics and the email that changed his mind immediately

He had completed 175 races in a six-year span, becoming an IRONMAN All World Athlete in two consecutive years and <a href="http://www.glennhartrick.com/photos?lightbox=i110d1">gracing the cover of Runner's World magazine</a> for their body issue along the way.</p><p>But all of that changed in June of 2014.</p><p>Hartrick had just competed at the Memorial Hermann IRONMAN North American Championship in The Woodlands, Texas and was out on a routine training bike ride when a car made an illegal U-turn and hit him.</p><p>He was instantly paralyzed from the chest down.</p><p>Hartrick spent 30 days in the hospital and two months at the Kessler Rehab Institute healing nine broken ribs, two collapsed lungs, a broken jaw, broken scapula, and blood clots in both of his legs.</p><p>"I had the mentality of the overused cliche 'life is a marathon, not a sprint,' and I really took that to heart," Hartrick said. "It seemed like an insurmountable mountain to climb at the moment and then all of a sudden I'm making progress [in my recovery], and that gave me motivation, just like it did when I ran my first marathons. I really tried to use that mentality that I had as an athlete to get me better both mentally and physically."</p><p>But even before Hartrick completed his inpatient rehabilitation and returned home, he was focused on finding his way back across finish lines.</p><p>"I said 'I'm sitting in the hospital right now but I'm going to come back and I'm going to do the 2015 New York City Marathon right where my journey started,'" Hartrick said. "I knew that was going to be my recovery and help me prove to myself that I'm back and I'm still me."</p><p>There was a handcycle in the outpatient unit at the hospital, and as soon as he had the necessary strength, Hartrick was doing laps down in the parking lot. Soon enough, he was ready to return home and resume training on his own.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Wayne Stephens</span></p><p class="caption">"I got my handcycle in March of 2015 from the Challenged Athletes Foundation," Hartrick said. "It was really difficult, but once I got focused that same fire came back and came back instantly. It was amazing."</p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>Sixteen months after the accident, Hartrick finished the TCS New York City Marathon in 1:37, good for 10th overall in the handcycle category. He went on to finish third overall in the handcycle category at both the Philadelphia and Los Angeles Marathons later that year.</p><p>The following year, he was the fifth overall and first American finisher in the handcycle category at the New York City Marathon. In 2017, he finished first at both the Philadelphia and New Jersey Marathons before making his IRONMAN return. He finished first in the physically challenged open division at the 2017 IRONMAN Florida with a time of 13:11:07.</p><p>"When I did my first IRONMAN, I did it in 13 hours and 48 minutes," Hartrick said. "When I came back and did it again as a physically challenged athlete for the first time, I was faster than when I first did it as an able-bodied athlete."</p><p>Hartrick dreamed of attending the IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii since he first became a competitive triathlete. He came close in 2012, finishing less than two minutes too late at the IRONMAN U.S. Championship in New York City, but he never managed to qualify before his accident. Hartrick was selected to attend the IRONMAN World Championship this year and was the sixth overall and third American in his division to cross the finish line.</p><p>"There are a lot of things in life that don't meet expectations because they're hyped up so much, but I can tell you this met every single expectation that I ever had," Hartrick said. "It was harder, it was faster, and it was hotter, but it was more rewarding than I ever could have imagined."</p><p>Now, Hartrick is quickly shifting gears to the 2018 TCS New York City Marathon November 4, where he will race in the pushchair category for the first time.</p><p><span>"There is not a better day in New York than marathon Sunday," Hartrick said. "It's the best marathon in the world for a reason. It was my first marathon back in 2006, and it was my first comeback race back in 2015. Now to be able to do it in a racing chair knowing how far I've come, I really think I'm helping to prove that anything is possible."</span></p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Wayne Stephens</span></p><p class="caption">"The first goal is to beat the time I did it in as a runner the first time," Hartrick said. "I know that there's some potential significant upside after that, so anything else would just be the icing on the cake."</p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>Not only will the race be a personal milestone for Hartrick, but he will also find his way into the history books when he crosses the iconic finish line. He will become the first person to ever <span>finish the race in the open, handcycle, and push rim divisions.</span><span></span></p><p><span>"It's an exclusive club that I belong to, and I don't encourage it for everybody else. If they can just stick to running I think they'll be better off," Hartrick joked. "But i</span><span>t gives me some credibility when I'm speaking to kid with paralysis, or I go back to Mt. Sinai or Kessler and can speak to some newly-injured individuals or kids. I can say 'four years ago, I was you. I was sitting in a hospital bed, and this was what I was faced with.
