And the latest in town claims to be responsible, quite literally. 'Responsible whatr' is the latest in the beverage industry and claims to offer water full of nutrients at a ph of 7.4. Sold in aluminium cans, the company says that the water isn’t pumped from the ground and is instead from a “completely natural source in the most natural manner straight from the Himalayas”. The one-year old company has a manufacturing plant in Solan, Himachal Pradesh. And that brings with it, a steep price of ₹60 for a 500 ml can, six times than that of a normal mineral water bottle. The water can be ordered online from their website and is also available in stores in Delhi and Mumbai. The idea behind using aluminium cans was to avoid plastic wastage, as the metal is 70% recyclable and is in line with the Indian government’s vision of eliminating single use plastic by 2022. “It does not alter the freshness of the water when exposed to light or heat and the water remains fresh and cold,” says the company. “Currently, the plastic waste generation in India is roughly estimated at 9.46 million tonnes annually, of which 40% remains uncollected. Keeping India’s plastic consumption in mind and the need to eliminate it, Aluminum was the natural choice for packaging for the brand. We are looking to hone in on this opportunity and grow our brand ‘Responsible Whatr’,” said Ankur Chawla, who founded the company along with Bhrigu Seth, and has over a decade long experience in the hotel industry. But the idea of selling <keyword id="9437941" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="water-in-aluminium-cans">water in aluminium cans</keyword> is not new. Meanwhile, the <a href="https://theprint.in/india/governance/modi-govt-replace-plastic-water-bottles-aluminium-steel-cans-trains/306614/">Modi government </a>too has been toying with the idea to avoid single use plastic. According to reports, the Indian government was in talks with the Steel Authority of India (SAIL) to produce these cans for the Indian railways. But aluminium won’t exactly be the most eco-friendly move. According to a <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/us-environment-plastic-aluminium-insight/plastic-bottles-vs-aluminum-cans-wholl-win-the-global-water-fight-idUSKBN1WW0J5">Reuters</a> report, a 330 ml can of aluminium will make way for 1300 grams of carbon dioxide emissions. “Primary aluminum uses huge amounts of electricity and it’s also got some chemical releases of greenhouse gas emissions,” Martin Barrow, director of footprinting at UK-based non-profit consultancy the Carbon Trust told <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/us-environment-plastic-aluminium-insight/plastic-bottles-vs-aluminum-cans-wholl-win-the-global-water-fight-idUSKBN1WW0J5">Reuters</a>. Water sold in aluminum cans to avoid plastic use is the latest trend in India – but costs six times than that of a mineral water bottle

My husband, our four kids, and I live on a close-knit block where families share kid responsibilities, cook occasional dinners for one another, and help when couples can't <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/signs-you-need-a-new-babysitter-2022-6">find a babysitter</a>.Most people say it <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/decided-raise-kids-family-near-grandparents-pros-and-cons-2024-1">takes a village to raise a family</a>, but every village can look different. For us, our neighbors are our main support — and we wouldn't have it any other way.<h2 id="1233bdbc-2565-4785-895f-fd823d58cd4a">We watch each other's kids on a regular basis</h2>A few years ago, one of the moms on our block organized a brilliant rotation for five of us families. Each couple would take turns hosting all the kids for a few hours on Saturday morning. The other couples could use their kid-free time however they wanted: to get chores done, walk to a coffee shop together, or sit and read a book in silence. The following Saturday, a different couple would have the kids.While having all nine kids at once may seem like an enormous undertaking, the kids played well together most of the time while the hosts kept watch and provided snacks. Not only did it give parents the gift of time on the weekend, but it also helped us get to know each other and each other's kids better. The kids became closer friends, too.Now, it's common for kids to be at each other's houses.Someone might text, "we can't find a sitter for Saturday night. Anyone up for taking two extra kids from 5-8:30?" Or "Sam is coming to see if your boys can play. If that's not okay, just send him or all of them here."The idea is that we're all in this together and that, surprisingly, more kids can ease the load.When neighbors come to our house, my kids love it and are fully occupied. I can finally prep dinner or <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/stay-at-home-mom-works-part-time-morning-routine-2024-4">sneak in a workout</a>. And if I need someone to watch my kids while I run to an appointment or so I can take a nap while my newborn sleeps, there's usually someone on the block who's happy to take my kids.<h2 id="760cbcc0-2539-4efd-8b5a-4f1368fe8658">We rotate cooking 'family dinners'</h2>On lazy Sunday afternoons when the kids ride bikes on the sidewalk and the parents chitchat on a nearby porch, someone might ask, "What're you doing for dinner?" Most of us respond with a shoulder shrug, wishing we didn't have to go home and figure out what to make.The convo might lead to a large pizza order for all, brats on the grill in someone's backyard, or a hodgepodge potluck. During the cooler months, someone might whip up a double batch of chili or chicken noodle soup, and text the group: "Who's in?"Our "street family dinners" don't have to be fancy — although there are some excellent chefs on the block. The shared meals give us a way to gather and reduce the burden of cooking every night for our own families.The kids usually run off and play after 10 minutes at the table, leaving us parents to kick back and chat over a beer or batch cocktail. Those nights are filled with laughter, stories about raising our families, kid shenanigans, and a beautiful reminder that we aren't alone during these amazing yet arduous years of parenting.<h2 id="5cdc7321-94a6-4a9d-84ed-b2cb4fed081c">Parents take turns watching the kids in the summer to help with childcare</h2>When school is out or our <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/hire-college-students-child-care-kids-2024-2">college-aged nanny</a> is gone for the summer, parents on the block chip in to help with gaps in childcare. Between remote workers, part-time workers, and teachers, there are a few parents who rotate watching kids during the summer.In the afternoons, first-grader Sam might knock on our door, looking for my boys. The three of them will play together for hours, switching between our backyard, the basement, and Sam's house — a favorite spot with mountains of monster trucks and Legos. The downtime gives me a chance to finish an article, send out invoices, or sweep the floors.Another dad might take an extra kid or two on a beach trip while their parents are at the office. Many times, this is better for everyone: the kids have someone their age to play with, so the adult on duty has less entertaining to do. The informal sharing doesn't cover the full lack of childcare, but it eases the burden.<h2 id="82cb1754-fd9d-41f0-be0e-7f43acfe11aa">We share kid clothes, shoes, puzzles, and more</h2>My neighbor Carolyn often drops off shirts and leggings that no longer fit her daughter and shoes and shorts that her son has outgrown. Katelyn brings my kids puzzles and games, and Jess recently gifted me a car seat.I'm incredibly grateful for the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-save-money-as-a-big-family-young-kids-2024-7">cost-savings to my family</a> and the time saved from not having to go shopping. But it's especially fun to watch kids on the block cycle through old favorites. The sentimental pieces are worn again, bringing them new life and time in the sun.Our neighborhood isn't perfect, and sometimes the workload may be uneven, but our neighborhood village supports us and is there for us. Someone always has my back or is looking out for us. The sharedness of family life makes it lighter, sweeter, and much more enjoyable. Most of all, we're making memories and relationships we'll cherish for the rest of our lives.

So there's a lot of time to balance responsibilities and time for yourself.She recommends thinking of the weekend in five chunks: Friday night, Saturday day, Saturday night, Sunday day, Sunday night. This can help you time and plan weekend activities and responsibilities.Time-management coach Alexis Haselberger told me that a lot of her clients struggle with relaxation and putting work down.This can be worsened when you schedule an unrealistic responsibility load into your weekend. The outstanding tasks in the back of your mind can make you feel like you didn't have a weekend — and makes you feel bad for not completing it.She recommended making a manageable to-do list and blocking time off to complete the tasks. People can experiment with balancing responsibilities and free time, she said, since creating a fulfilling weekend is so individualized and requires work.Plus, Vanderkam said if you do finish all your tasks — don't go looking for new ones to do.Try something newYou're not really creating new memories while binging Netflix, scrolling TikTok, or chilling around your home. So this can make it feel like you did nothing over the weekend, Haselberger said.She told me that people often think doing these activities will help you decompress from the week — "and it does in the moment, but then it doesn't. Other residents and activists also took to TikTok to tell travelers not to visit or to leave if they were already there.But <a target="_blank" href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CwA2lwJtd8I/?hl=en">Daniel Kalahiki</a>, owner of the food truck Like Poke, posted a series of <a target="_blank" href="https://www.instagram.com/p/Cv284YXNvED/?hl=en">Instagram videos</a> saying those messages were misguided. Kalahiki's food truck is located in Wailuku and was not directly hit by the fires that impacted Kula and burnt much of Lahaina to the ground, killing more than 100 people."Lahaina's closed. We grieve for them, we cry for them, we do everything we can for them, and it will never, ever be okay or be the same," Kalahiki said, adding the only people who should be in Lahaina are residents or those who are rebuilding. "But we still need the rest of the island to be open so we can continue to live."He said most of Maui still needs and wants <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/maui-tourists-complain-activities-cancelled-over-fires-employee-four-seasons-2023-8">tourists</a> to come."Kihei, Wailea, open. Wailuku, Kahalui, open. Paia, Haiku, open. Hana, open. All of those places are still open," he said. "All of those local businesses — hundreds of local businesses that depend on at least a little bit of tourism, as do I. Although my business is based on locals, I still need that little bit of tourism."Kalahiki said in another video that what he feared was already becoming reality, adding that people all over Maui were being financially impacted, even losing their jobs or businesses, because people are telling tourists to stay away or confronting the ones who are already there.He mentioned several celebrities and prominent figures that he thought were acting irresponsibly by telling people not to come, including Momoa."Jason Momoa, have fun on your late-night shows throwing spears with your buddies, but what're you guys going to do for us now?" he said.A representative for Momoa did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.Kalahiki urged tourists coming to Maui not to cancel their plans but to vacation responsibly by staying away from Lahaina and instead visiting areas on the east side of the island that were not hit by the fires. He encouraged any tourists to take some time out of their trip to volunteer while they are on Maui and to support local businesses.Kalahiki did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment via Instagram and phone."We all still need to pay our bills so that we can contribute to helping the people in Lahaina and Kula that have lost everything. We still need to survive," he said, adding: "It will be the worst day of my life, if I lose my house to the bank because of Maui being 'closed.'"
