In order to improve their <keyword id="39495" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Rankings">rankings</keyword> in global lists of best universities, <keyword id="6386086" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Indian-Institutes-of-Technology">Indian Institutes of Technology</keyword> would focus more on research works and increase the intake of doctorate students over the next 4-5 years. 
 As per an Economic Times report, IITs in Kharagpur, Delhi, Chennai and Mumbai want to almost double the enrolment of <keyword id="6437374" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="PhD-students">PhD students</keyword> to increase focus on research &amp; <keyword id="94495" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="80" keywordseo="Innovation">innovation</keyword> and drive internationalisation of these institutes, with an eye on drastically improving their global rankings. 
	 

	Currently, the country's premier higher education centers struggle to make it to top global lists. 
	 

	"Apart from providing a pool for high quality faculty and entrepreneurs to fuel the startup industry, increased focus on research will help the IITs to improve their image in world rankings," said a government official. <keyword id="57604" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="iit-delhi">IIT Delhi</keyword> plans to enroll 300 PhD students this year and would almost double the number over the next two years. 
	 

	IIT Madras has already doubled the intake of PhD scholars in the past two years to 500 from about 200, while IIT Kharagpur too is looking to double the number of PhD students from about 400 last year. Further, <keyword id="61708" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="IIT-Bombay">IIT Bombay</keyword> expects the number of PhD students graduating to almost double in the next four years from 210 last year. It has admitted over 500 doctorate students this year. 
	 

	IITs are now pushing for more international exposure. "For a better ranking, IITs will have to work around building an international brand. We at IIT Kharagpur are roping in our alumni network for the same," said Siddhartha Mukhopadhyay, dean of alumni affairs and international relations at IIT Kharagpur. 
	 

	IIT Kharagpur plans to send over 300 students on International summer and winter programmes, conferences and competitions this year. It's also pushing for international internship for its students. 
	 

	The institute is also setting up innovation labs to encourage research and innovations. <keyword id="108320" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="IIT-Kanpur">IIT Kanpur</keyword> is also in the race to scale up research projects. "Earlier, we were doing research on projects valued around Rs 20 lakh but now, through our faculty, we are chasing projects valued a few crores," said Sandeep Verma, head of chemistry department at IIT Kanpur. 
	 

	Sarit Kumar Das, dean of academic affairs at IIT Chennai, said a thrust on research will help IITs improve their global rankings to around 35 from 60-80 now. 
	 

	He, however, said ranking is not the sole reason to focus on research. "IITs are role models for other institutes in the country. Also the role of IITs is moving away from being a mere supplier of manpower to producing entrepreneurs, CEOs and high quality professors," Das said. IITs in Bombay and Delhi are also increasing the number of PhD students to push research. "World over, PhD programmes and PhD students are among the main generators of new knowledge and expertise, together with faculty and research staff in universities," said <keyword id="2885183" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Narayan-Rangaraj">Narayan Rangaraj</keyword>, dean of academic programmes at IIT Bombay. 
	 

	Anurag Sharma, dean of academics at IIT Delhi, said the institute is building more hostel facility for PhD students. "Perception so far is that IIT Delhi is an undergraduate institute but we are now looking at establishing ourselves as a research institute. PhD is the main engine for research," he said.

Nancy Morel posted a <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@nancy.xoxx/video/7176185050096995590?is_copy_url=1&amp;is_from_webapp=v1">clip</a> of herself getting ready for work in the midst of a skin flare-up on December 12, and it was viewed over 7.3 million times. Morel said she'd been going to doctors for her <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@nancy.xoxx/video/7176390084869033222?is_copy_url=1&amp;is_from_webapp=v1&amp;item_id=7176390084869033222">condition since 2016</a>, but currently has no diagnosis. On December 13, Morel posted a <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@nancy.xoxx/video/7176390084869033222?is_copy_url=1&amp;is_from_webapp=v1">follow-up video</a>, reacting to a TikTok featuring dermatologist <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@skinbydrazi?lang=en">Dr. Azadeh Shirazi</a>, who has 1.9 million followers on TikTok.Multiple captions appeared on screen as Morel's original video played in the background, with footage of Shiraz overlaid. "Looks similar to vascular occlusion...BUT," one caption said, before a second caption appeared that said, "Something's not quite right...doesn't seem 'natural.'" Shiraz then pointed to a further caption which read, "She's a very talented makeup artist."The video is no longer available on Shirazi's account, but the clip was featured in Morel's response and was stitched by others.In Morel's response, she said: "I don't wish this lady any hate or negativity. I am only speaking on this because if 14 year old me saw a video like this she would crawl into her self conscious shell."She continued, "I hope this lady can understand why this video is extremely upsetting considering her large following and spreading false information on situations she clearly hasnt researched." The video received over 8.3 million views. Throughout her response video, Morel wiped her face to show there was no makeup on her skin and showed the inside of her mouth where the flare-up was also visible."If you're going to speak so vocally on something that is so sensitive, then make sure you're 100% right," Morel said at the end of her video. A number of top comments criticized Shirazi. "What the hell!!! That is SO unprofessional of her!" a comment with over 100,000 likes said. Shirazi can be heard addressing Morel, saying, "Hi Nancy, hi TikTok. I am really sorry." The on-screen caption read, "I want to apologize for thinking your skin condition was not real. "It shows people how harmful this kind of behavior from medical professionals is," Killeen said. "I hate when I see medical professionals, many in my field, who are giving unsolicited opinions and advice about other people's bodies, bodies which they have not examined and they have no relationship with."Shirazi, who describes herself as an "educator" in her TikTok bio, regularly uploads videos reacting to <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@skinbydrazi/video/7173859055071694126?is_copy_url=1&amp;is_from_webapp=v1&amp;lang=en">skincare routine TikToks</a> and <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@skinbydrazi/video/7174958929120628014?is_copy_url=1&amp;is_from_webapp=v1&amp;lang=en">providing advice</a>. According to <a href="https://azimdskincare.com/pages/our-story">her website</a>, she is a board-certified medical doctor and is currently the medical director at La Jolla Dermatology and Laser Surgery Center in San Diego, California.
