To help them, the Delhi government launched a custom Google Maps platform where people can find hunger relief centres spread across the city — many of which are schools that have been turned into shelters for the needy.

 According to chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, over 500 such relief camps have been set up to help those without a place to go and no supplies to tide them through the lockdown. Each municipality should, on average, have at least two shelters.

 The relief centers will serve lunch between 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm and dinner between 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm every day. Even though everyone is welcome, social distancing will be strictly followed within the shelters under the watchful eye of a nodal officer appointed by the district magistrate. Since many of the people who really need this service may not necessarily own a phone or be familiar with Google Maps, it’s recommended that you either guide them through the process. How to use Delhi’s Google Map of hunger relief centers Anyone can access the map either from their laptop or mobile phones by clicking on the link shared by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) or navigating through the window above. You can zoom in and zoom out of the map the map to find your locality and the relief centers close by. The blue pins indicated schools that have been turned into shelters and the red pins are the government-owned camps. Clicking on a pin will reveal the address of a particular shelter. Once you’ve selected the relief center, since its a Google Map, you can also click on directions to see the best possible route to reach a particular camp. The entire list of shelters can also be found if you tap on #DelhiHungerReliefCentre on your mobile. Tapping the arrow next to shelter homes and school list will display all the respective options. Custom Google Maps in Delhi lead the way to relief centres with shelter and food

<ul><li><keyword id="15491" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Airtel">Airtel</keyword> has partnered with Vahan to help migrants and workers get food, shelter, healthcare and jobs.</li><li>Airtel will send an SMS to reach out to the workers impacted by the Coronavirus lockdown and direct them to Vahan’s platform.</li><li>This service is currently available only in Delhi and Bengaluru.</li></ul>Telecom company Airtel partnered with Bengaluru-based startup Vahan to provide relief to migrants and workers affected by the nationwide Coronavirus lockdown. Vahan is a tech startup that uses artificial intelligence to match job seekers with employers through messaging apps such as WhatsApp. Airtel and Vahan will now use their resources to provide migrants and workers access to relief services such as food, shelter, healthcare and jobs. What Airtel and Vahan are doing to help migrants and workers Airtel will launch an SMS campaign to reach out to the impacted workers on its network in Delhi and Bengaluru. The SMS, which will be sent in English, Hindi and Kannada will include a link that will direct users to Vahan’s website. Vahan will then use its AI solutions to connect the user with the nearest relief provider. As per the company, it created a resource pool of over 1,000 NGOs that are involved in helping the citizens. "We at Vahan, in close partnership with Airtel, are really proud to be able to leverage the power of our technology to touch millions of the most needy when they require our help the most. We are also excited about our ability to help these people get jobs as we all work towards returning to normalcy,” said Madhav Krishna, CEO of Vahan. Airtel had earlier launched a Coronavirus risk assessment tool in partnership with Apollo Hospitals Group. Airtel partners with tech startup Vahan to help people find jobs, food, shelter and healthcare

New Delhi, Apr 5 () Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant has written to over 92,000 NGOs appealing them to assist the government in identifying Covid-19 hotspots and delivering services to vulnerable groups. Kant, who is heading the Empowered Group (EG 6) on coordinating with private sector NGOs and international organisations, has also written to all chief secretaries urging them to instruct the local administration at the district level to utilise the physical and human resources made available by NGOs and civil society organisations (CSOs), an official statement said. The government had on March 29 constituted 11 empowered groups to suggest measures to ramp up healthcare, put the economy back on track and reduce misery of people as quickly as possible post the 21-day lockdown imposed to contain the coronavirus pandemic. "CEO Niti Aayog has written to over 92000 NGOs/ CSOs registered on the Darpan portal of Niti Aayog, appealing them to assist the government in identifying hotspots and deputing volunteers and care givers to deliver services to the elderly, persons with disabilities, children, transgender persons, and other vulnerable groups; to create awareness about prevention, social distancing, isolation, and combating stigma; to provide shelter to homeless, daily wage workers, and urban poor families; set up community kitchens for migrants," the statement said. It further said that the empowered group (EG 6) conducted detailed deliberations with 40-plus prominent CSOs and NGOs working in different parts of the country and with different communities. "Several challenges and issues raised by these CSOs were addressed by the EG6 to facilitate their working in the field during this crisis," it added. The statement said the EG6 has contacted start-ups, namely AgVa, Biodesign Innovation Lab, Kaeaenaat, Qure AIDrona Maps, mFine, MicroGo and Staqu, working on innovative ventilator designs, testing tools, and tracking solutions to understand their scale and possible contributions. Industry representatives and the EG 6 deliberated in detail on several challenges on critical issues of health-care intervention, pertaining to ramping up production and procurement of ventilators, personal protective equipment (PPE), testing kits, in collaboration with several other EGs; apart from ways to step up the relief and rehabilitation and information dissemination, it added. Industry representatives have also shared in detail the activities undertaken in public advocacy, philanthropy and, CSR by way of running factory kitchens for preparing, distributing free food in coordination with local administration; and making available factory hospitals/ premises/ guest houses as quarantine and shelter facilities. The other members of the Empowered Group include Dr Vijayaraghavan, (Principal Scientific Adviser), Kamal Kishore (Member, NDMA); Sandeep Mohan Bhatnagar (Member, CBIC) and senior officials of various ministries. Covid-19: Niti CEO writes to NGOs for assistance in relief measures

New Delhi, Apr 21 () State-run REC has reached out to over 76,000 needy people with food and ration during the lockdown to contain Covid-19, according to a power ministry statement. The REC has tied up with Delhi Police to provide 500 food packets on daily basis, it said. Concerned over their plight, the REC Foundation, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of REC Ltd, under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power is distributing cooked food, ration, utility packets, masks, sanitisers and even providing shelter during the lockdown benefiting 76,000 daily wagers and their families till date, it noted. REC Foundation has already sanctioned funds totalling Rs 7 crore for these activities and more such funds are already in the pipeline. Power Minister R K Singh said in the statement that the REC has already donated Rs 150 crore to the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM CARES) Fund to support India's fight against coronavirus. In addition to this, all REC employees have voluntary contributed a day's salary to the PM National Relief Fund. REC Foundation in association with respective state-owned power distribution utilities is providing food grain packets and other utility packets like masks and sanitisers. REC Foundation has also released funds to the offices of distribution companies, collector and/or district magistrates of various districts across India to provide cooked meals twice a day for 10 to 30 days. Talks are on with many other districts for execution of the same in their areas. In addition to these, food kits are also being provided in these districts to those who have facilities to cook at home. Around 300 workers and daily wagers engaged in construction of REC World Head Quarters, Gurugram, belonging to various states like Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha and Gujarat, and other needy people from vicinity areas are also being provided ration items on a bi-weekly basis. Sesa Goa has also been working in close-coordination with the district management to help them in providing necessary infrastructure and provisioning of protective equipment across COVID- 19 medical facilities in Goa."In the current situation where Goa is going through a tough phase in view of the pandemic, this fund is a contribution by Sesa Goa Iron Ore towards the State Relief Fund of Goa to combat the deadly Coronavirus," Vedanta Sesa Goa Iron Ore CEO Sauvick Mazumdar said in a statement.Sesa Goa Iron Ore has been assisting the communities at various locations with meals, essential groceries, medical facilities and shelter, the statement mentioned. New Delhi, Apr 19 () Labourers, who are stranded in different parts of the country due to the ongoing lockdown, will be allowed to go to their respective places of work within a state with certain conditions, the Union Home Ministry said.Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, however, made it clear that there will be no inter-state movement of workers during the lockdown, which has been extended till May 3.The order issued by Bhalla said that due to the spread of coronavirus, workers employed in industry, agriculture, construction and other sectors have moved from their respective places of work and are housed in relief and shelter camps being run by state and UT governments.Since additional activities, outside the containment zones, have been permitted in the consolidated revised guidelines with effect from April 20, these workers could be engaged in industrial, manufacturing, construction, farming and MNREGA works.To facilitate their movement within the state or UT, the following guidelines may be followed:The migrant labourers currently residing in relief and shelter camps in states and UTs should be registered with the concerned local authority and their skill mapping be carried out to find out their suitability for various kinds of works.The SoP said in the event that a group of migrants wish to return to their places of work within the state where they are presently located, they would be screened and those who are asymptomatic would be transported to their respective places of work.It may be noted that there shall be no movement of labour outside the state and UT from where they are currently located.During the journey by bus, it would be ensured that safe social-distancing norms are followed and the buses used for transport are sanitized as per the guidelines of the health authorities.The local authorities shall also provide for food and water etc., for the duration of their journey, the SOP said.The lockdown was first announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 24 for 21 days in a bid to combat the coronavirus endemic.
