The listing also mentions that it is powered by an ARM processor, which means the Jio laptop could be an affordable offering. This would make sense if the telecom provider’s JioPhone strategy is anything to go by. The listing mentions a Chinese company named Emdoor Digital Technology, which makes ARM-powered Windows laptops. This would allow Jio to target a much wider audience, especially at a time when affordable phones and tablets have become commonplace due to an increased need to study from home. While the Jio tablet could run PragatiOS – an Android-based operating system developed by Google and <keyword id="10926" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="reliance" source="Orion">Reliance</keyword> Jio – tailored for tablets, the Jio TV could offer access to popular over-the-top apps which are also available on the set-top box it sells to its broadband subscribers. The overall strategy seems to be a connected ecosystem of hardware and services, including Jio 4G, JioFiber, JioPhone and likely soon, the Jio laptop, tablet and TV – with the Jio network connecting all of them together. Even in India, 5G smartphones have become quite popular, despite the fact that the commercial rollout of 5G is yet to begin in the country. Telcos have warned that this move would not only delay the rollout of 5G smartphones in the country, this could also impact India’s goal of becoming a global hub for smartphone manufacturing. The telcos have said that local testing and certification of 5G smartphones will bring down the availability of 5G smartphones as testing and certification will require a lot of time. The TEC had earlier called for local testing and certification of all smartwatches, smart cameras and wearables being sold in India. As per the report, the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), which includes Airtel, Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea, Ericsson, Nokia and others has written a letter to K. Rajaraman, the telecom secretary. “We urge your intervention to instruct TEC to rescind the existing notifications covering all existing consumer electronic products under the MTCTE Certification regime and to desist in pursuing smartwatches, wearables, and smart cameras under Phase III and 5G mobile phones under the proposed Phase V of MTCTE,” COAI said in the letter. Telcos reportedly urge government to skip local testing to avoid 5G phone shortage

Tech giant <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/news/how-you-can-stop-google-from-tracking-your-location/articleshow/88735666.cms" data-type="tilCustomLink">Google</a> on Wednesday announced that its Nest Hub (2nd Gen) is now available in the country at Rs 7,999. The <keyword id="7979084" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="google-nest-hub" source="Orion">Google Nest Hub</keyword> (2nd Gen) is available in chalk and charcoal colours across Flipkart, Tata Cliq and Reliance Digital. "The new Nest Hub's speaker is based on the same audio technology as Nest Audio and has 50 per cent more bass than the original Nest Hub," the company said in a statement. "And with an additional mic, it hears you better than ever, resulting in a more responsive Google Assistant," it added. The Nest Hub (2nd Gen) features an edgeless glass display. It is designed with recycled materials with its plastic mechanical parts containing 54 per cent recycled post-consumer plastic. The microphone can be turned off by simply sliding the hardware switch on the back of the device (an orange light indicates it has been disabled). By default, the user's audio recordings are not retained, and they can delete all their recent activity by simply saying things like "Ok Google, delete everything I said last week". Guest Mode can be turned on with simple voice command so that the user's Assistant activity won't be saved to their Google account and personal results won't be shown. The tech giant said that the new Nest Hub can fill any room with music from services like YouTube Music, Spotify, Apple Music, Gaana and JioSavvn. It can also play movies, videos and TV shows with a subscription from providers like Netflix, and YouTube Premium.
