Along with its third-quarter earnings, Reliance Industries announced that its pact with BP will be extended to form a new Indian fuels and mobility joint venture. "The venture expects to expand from RIL’s current fuel retailing network of over 1,400 retail sites and 30 aviation fuel stations across India to up to 5,500 retail sites and 45 aviation fuel stations over the next five years," the company statement said."The retail network will operate under the Jio-BP brand," it added. The venture is expected to be formed during the first half of 2020, subject to regulatory and other customary approvals. BP is a one-third partner in the KG-D6 oil and gas basin along with RIL and Canadian company Niko. The two companies, RIL and BP renewed their partnership last year, eight years after they first inked a pact to work together in India.

New Delhi, Jun 8 () Shares of Reliance Industries on Monday jumped nearly 3 per cent after the company sold 1.16 per cent stake in its digital unit to Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) for Rs 5,683.50 crore. It gained 2.74 per cent to touch a one-year high of Rs 1,624 on BSE. On NSE, it rose 2.32 per cent to Rs 1,618.40 -- its 52-week high. Reliance Industries on Sunday said it sold 1.16 per cent stake in Jip Platforms to ADIA for Rs 5,683.50 crore, taking the cumulative fund raising to Rs 97,885.65 crore that will help pare debt at the oil-to-telecom conglomerate. "This investment values Jio Platforms at an equity value of Rs 4.91 lakh crore and an enterprise value of Rs 5.16 lakh crore. ADIA's investment will translate into a 1.16 per cent equity stake in Jio Platforms on a fully diluted basis," the company said in a statement. With this investment, Jio Platforms has raised Rs 97,885.65 crore from leading global investors including Facebook, Silver Lake, Vista Equity Partners, General Atlantic, KKR, Mubadala and ADIA in less than seven weeks. After surging over 640 points in early trade, the 30-share BSE index settled 83.34 points, or 0.24 per cent, higher at 34,370.58. Similarly, the NSE Nifty closed 25.30 points, or 0.25 per cent, up at 10,167.45. IndusInd Bank was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, soaring around 7 per cent, followed by Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, ONGC, Titan, Infosys and Tech Mahindra. Shares of Reliance Industries (RIL) jumped around 3 per cent during the day, hitting their one-year peak, after the company sold 1.16 per cent stake in its digital unit Jip Platforms to Abu Dhabi Investment Authority for Rs 5,683.50 crore. Shares, however, closed 0.51 per cent lower as investors cashed in on recent gains. M&amp;M, UltraTech Cement, HDFC Bank and Nestle India were also among the laggards. Market opened on a positive note following positive cues from Asian peers as OPEC+ output cut extension for additional month, said Narendra Solanki, Head- Equity Research (Fundamental), Anand Rathi. However, during the afternoon session, benchmarks gave up most gains on profit-booking by traders after an almost 1,200 point rally in Nifty since last week, he added. International oil benchmark Brent crude futures rose 0.95 per cent to USD 42.70 per barrel. The 30-share BSE Sensex surged over 640 points in early trade, mirroring bullish sentiments in global markets in the wake of surprisingly strong US jobs data, but an intense volatility gripped the index as the session progressed. On the Sensex chart, IndusInd Bank was the top gainer, soaring around 7 per cent, followed by Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, ONGC, Titan, Infosys and Tech Mahindra. Among the top losers were: Mahindra and Mahindra, Ultratech Cement, HDFC Bank, Tata Steel and Nestle India. Meanwhile, crude oil prices rose after major oil producing nations agreed to extend a production cut to counter the blow to demand in the wake of COVID outbreak. International oil benchmark Brent crude futures rose 0.95 per cent to USD 42.70 per barrel. On the impact of coronavirus cases and related developments on sentiment, analysts said that in India, the numbers continue to rise and the markets seem to be ignoring this, for the time being, giving more priority to the news of the economy opening up.
