Mukesh Ambani-owned <keyword id="6354504" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Reliance-Jio">Reliance Jio</keyword> just won a huge battle against <keyword id="15491" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Airtel">Airtel</keyword> and <keyword id="6354923" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vodafone-India">Vodafone India</keyword>. The Indian telecom regulator, <keyword id="6356988" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="TRAI">TRAI</keyword>, stated Reliance Jio’s ‘free voice calls for life’ plan was not predatory and did not violate any regulations. 
 
Airtel and Vodafone India were forced to lower their tariff plans after Reliance Jio rolled out free voice calls plan. The incumbent telecom operators had claimed the plan for predatory. 
 
Reliance Jio welcomed TRAI’s decision and termed it as a win, stressing that a big focus of its packages is free voice calling for Local, STD and National roaming for all times. 
 
Meanwhile, TRAI said Reliance Jio could not extend its ‘Welcome Offer’ and should conclude by the end of the year. 
 
Reliance Jio offered a welcome plan under which new subscribers could avail a host of free offers for 90 days. 
 
Jio is also offering unlimited free fourth-generation or 4G mobile broadband till December 31.

These investments were made into the tower assets, which is a newly formed entity. This fund that the latest entrant into the telecom market has raised, will help it become a more independent company, releasing itself from the group that also houses retail and energy business. “Proceeds from the investment by Brookfield will be used to repay certain existing financial liabilities of Reliance Jio (RJIPL) and acquiring the balance 49% of equity share capital of RJIPL, currently held by RIL,” the company said in a statement today. The digital services arm of RIL has a debt of ₹170,654 crores, which is the most indebted business, much higher than its energy business, according to its first quarter results statement. These investments were made into investment trusts or INVITS floated by the Reliance Jio, into which it transferred its fibre optic and telecom tower assets in April this year. The latest investment has come into the tower assets of the company. Reliance Jio has managed to bag 322 million subscribers and has become the second largest telecom operator, within three years of its launch. In the months of May and April, it had added eight million subscribers and is growing at a rapid pace. However, Jio has also been gathering as much debt not just because of the deep discounts it offers, but also because of its grand plans of expansion across wireless and wireline businesses. It has plans to take it fibre optic business to 1,600 towns and cities, making it necessary to bring in new investors who can support it. Reliance Jio raises ₹ 25,215 crore from Canadian fund Brookfield to repay debt

A complaint has also been registered against the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Cellular+Operators+Association+of+India&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Cellular Operators Association of India</a> (COAI) As per reports, the Competition Commission of India (<keyword id="47183" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="CCI">CCI</keyword>) has ordered a detailed probe against <keyword id="15491" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Airtel">Airtel</keyword>, Vodafone, <keyword id="6354924" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Idea-Cellular">Idea Cellular</keyword> and COAI in this matter and will investigate whether unfair business practices were done. Sources told ET the CCI would also examine COAI’s conduct. The probe by the Director General (DG) has been ordered for allegedly trying to restrict the entry of <keyword id="6354504" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance-Jio">Reliance Jio</keyword>, the official added. Director General (DG), which is the investigation arm of the CCI, will look into the matter. An Airtel spokesperson told ET, "We have not received any such communication from the CCI and would, therefore, not be able to comment. We have already stated that we have always responded with alacrity and provided a staggering quantum of PoIs (Point of Interconnections) to Reliance Jio in record time." "Though we have not seen the order as it has not been published yet, we are disappointed at the apparent news (if confirmed), that the CCI has decided to go forward with an investigation into the complaint filed by Reliance Jio," COAI Director General Rajan Mathews told ET. Also, Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio has alleged the incumbent telecom players that they do not provide sufficient network connectivity. Sources told ET the watchdog has concluded that dominant telecom players allegedly colluded and used the platform of COAI to deny point of interconnection to Reliance Jio.

After the website Magicapk.com posted subscriber data of <keyword id="6354504" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Reliance-Jio">Reliance Jio</keyword> customers, including email IDs, names and Aadhaar numbers on the website, Reliance <keyword id="2003276" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jio">Jio</keyword> has approached the law enforcement agencies in order to take strict action against the website. The website was suspended hours after the initial reports of the data being posted on the website on Sunday. 
 <keyword id="3820" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mukesh-Ambani">Mukesh Ambani</keyword> led Reliance Jio is the newest entrant in the telecom sector in the country and already has 120 million subscribers. If all data have been compromised it can be the biggest data breach in the country. So, the website would reply to all queries made through the website for Jio numbers with information of the subscriber’s name, email IDs and Aadhaar detail. 
 
A Jio spokesperson said that they have informed law enforcement agencies and that the data appeared to be “unauthentic”, “We have come across the unverified and unsubstantiated claims of the website and are investigating it. Prima facie, the data appears to be unauthentic. We want to assure our subscribers that their data is safe and maintained with highest security. Data is only shared with authorities as per their requirement. We have informed law enforcement agencies about the claims of the website and will follow through to ensure strict action is taken,” said the spokesperson. 
 Reliance Jio is one of the biggest 4G player in the country. Jio’s entry in the telecom space was one of the most awaited news in the telecom sector. But the entry was not completely without roadblocks. Even before Jio launched its services commercially on 5th September 2016, Jio has been involved in a war of words with the other telecom operators including <keyword id="15491" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Airtel">Airtel</keyword> and <keyword id="15492" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vodafone">Vodafone</keyword> over Jio’s free services.
