 Refining margins have been muted last few months due to the fall in demand for oil products. Oil product demand growth stalled to nearly zero and there is oversupply of gasoline and naphtha, Morgan Stanley said in a report on July 10. However, According to research firm CGSCIMB, margins from petrochemicals have dropped sharply since April 2019 and the decline has been sharpest in paraxylene, which has flowed through across the polyester chain. That would mean the decline in profit would be pronounced in Reliance mainstay business, the report added. Gross refining margin of $8.1 per barrel in the last quarter was the lowest in 18 quarters.  While Jio may be the rising star in Reliance Industries portfolio spanning from oil and gas exploration to petrochemicals to retail, the telecom venture brings its share of anxiety to the investor's mind-- debt. The company's total debt has increased over 58% in the last two years largely due to the investments made in Jio as well as the cash burnt in winning over the millions of customers. Reliance Jio has today managed to raise as much as ₹25,215 crore from a Canadian asset management company, Brookfield’s subsidiary--BIF IV Jarvis India. However, the increasing traction for its telecom vertical Jio as well as the retail business may provide some relief to Chairman Mukesh Ambani, who has often said in the recent past that "data is the new oil". Oil product demand growth stalled to nearly zero and there is oversupply of gasoline and naphtha, Morgan Stanley said in a report on July 10. "RIL reported that its consolidated effective net debt reduced by ₹990 billion at end-FY19 due to a demerger of its telecom assets to an special purpose vehicle (SPV). Top stock movers — RIL, Future Retail, Ujjivan SFB, Pfizer, CG Power, and others

Shares of <keyword id="6355199" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="reliance-industries">Reliance Industries</keyword> on Wednesday rebounded nearly 6 per cent after plunging over 12 per cent in the previous session.The stock was trading 3.49 per cent up at Rs 1,152.05 on the BSE. In early trading hours the stock gained as much as 5.8 per cent to Rs 1,178.40. On the NSE, it was quoting at Rs 1,151.65, up 3.37 per cent. It touched a high of Rs 1,178.45, higher by 5.77 per cent. More than 1.71 crore shares of Reliance Industries were traded on the NSE, while BSE saw an exchange of 57 lakh shares till noon. The spurt in volume was more than 6.70 times during the day on the BSE. After surging 308 points in highly volatile trade, BSE benchmark Sensex was up 196.45 points, or 0.55 per cent, at 35,831.40, and the NSE Nifty rose 33.60 points, or 0.32 per cent, to 10,485.05. Shares of Reliance Industries on Monday slumped as much as 13 per cent amid a price war among oil producers leading to international crude prices crashing by their biggest margin since the 1991 Gulf war. Global oil benchmark Brent crude futures were trading 0.24 per cent higher at USD 37.31 per barrel at 1230 hours. Domestic financial markets were closed on Tuesday for Holi.

Despite a larger slowdown in the economy as well as in people’s consumption, Reliance Retail saw its pre-tax profits grow by 66.8% to ₹2,322 crores as opposed to ₹1,392 crores in the same quarter last year. The revenue from Reliance Retail grew to ₹41,202 crores as opposed to ₹32,436 crores in the same quarter last year. His plan seems to be working.After disrupting India's telecom market with <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/mukesh-amabani-reliance-jio-4g-lte-2016-9">cheap mobile data and calling services,</a> Reliance Jio has been steadily gaining market share. The company offers 50 rupees ($0.70) per gigabyte and monthly plans as low as 149 rupees ($2).Reliance Jio, part of Ambani's <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/stocks/reliance_industries_1-stock">Reliance Industries</a>, added 1.79 million subscribers in July, 10 times more than all rivals combined, according to the <a href="https://trai.gov.in/sites/default/files/PRNo98Eng18092018.pdf">latest data </a>released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India on Wednesday. Competitors Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea Cellular added 0.3 million subscribers and 0.6 million subscribers, respectively. According to a report by Jefferies, Reliance Jio has more than doubled its market share over the past 16 months. As of July, it controlled 19.6% of India's <a href="https://trai.gov.in/sites/default/files/PRNo98Eng18092018.pdf">1.17 billion telephone subscribers</a>, up from 9.3% in March 2017."If the recent trend continues, by the end of March 2019 it would have a subscriber base of 300 million from the current 225 million," Jefferies analyst Somshankar Sinha said. <div class="KonaFilter image-container"><div class="image on-image">Jefferies</div></div><div class="KonaFilter image-container"><div class="image on-image">Jefferies</div></div>And while Jefferies is impressed with its telecom business, it has a price target for Reliance Industries of 880 rupees - a downside of 27.2% from current levels.
