<ul><li>Instagram has announced a set of features to enhance user experience, like Notes, <keyword id="15802269" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="candid-stories" source="Orion">Candid Stories</keyword>, and others. </li><li>Candid Stories will allow users to capture and provide real-time updates through <keyword id="3536746" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="instagram-stories" source="Orion">Instagram stories</keyword> - but these stories will only be visible to users who also share their own stories. </li><li>Except for Notes, all other new features are currently under testing.</li></ul>Despite being criticized for trying to copy other applications, like TikTok, photo and video sharing social networking service, Instagram has not stopped rolling out new features. In fact, Instagram recently <a href="https://about.instagram.com/blog/announcements/updates-to-instagram-messenger-and-stories">announced</a> five new features for its users, namely - ‘Notes’ to share thoughts, like a status update, ‘Candid Stories’ to share real-time updates with other active Candid Stories’ users, ‘Group Profiles’ to share posts with selected groups of people, ‘Add Yours nominations’ to tag and nominate people to participate and ‘Collaborative Collections’ to collectively save posts of common interest. According to Instagram, these features are designed to enhance the user experience and make people feel more connected with friends. Out of all the features listed above, the Notes feature has been rolled out for all Instagram users already. The major difference between regular Instagram stories and ‘Candid Stories’ is that the latter will only be visible to those users who also share their own candid stories. From the looks of it, the ‘Candid Stories’ feature appears to be similar to how BeReal works. Launched in 2020, BeReal is a social media photo sharing application through which users can click and share real and unfiltered pictures with their friends, but only once a day. BeReal is one of Instagram’s major competitors. Instagram shared in a <a href="https://about.instagram.com/blog/announcements/updates-to-instagram-messenger-and-stories">blog post</a> that they are testing the ‘Candid Stories’ feature for Facebook Stories as well. “Capture a candid from the stories camera, the multi-author story at the top of feed, or from the daily notification reminder that starts after your first candid. For those who don’t want to receive the daily notification reminder, you can always turn it off in your Settings,” stated Instagram. Currently, the ‘Candid Stories’ feature is under testing. It is not yet confirmed when the feature will be available for all Instagram users. It’s like there is no marriage season anymore, because there are marriages happening round the year. Precisely why there has been a boom in online wedding planning space in the recent past. More and more entrepreneurs have jumped into the fray. As each player is trying to get the maximum leverage out of this rising demand, a new startup <keyword id="3059916" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="WedMeGood">Wedmegood</keyword> has got some of the tricks going right for them compared to others. Folks here are killing it on social media! 
 
Active on <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Instagram+">Instagram </a>for about 18 months now, the firm has crossed 1,00,000 likes. It’s got 10,000 followers on <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Pinterest+">Pinterest </a>in the span of 8-9 months and more than 60,000 on <keyword id="6354576" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Facebook">Facebook</keyword>. The idea of such a portal was incepted out of a personal problem which founders Anand and Mehak faced while planning their cross-cultural wedding. They realised the need for a trustworthy yet fun platform and after a few months of intense planning and strategizing, they launched their own portal in February, 2014. It is now visited by more than 2 lakh unique visitors every month, has growing followers on social media and it recently picked up a round of funding from IAN and marquee angels like Hemant Kanakia, Alok Mittal, Anupam Mittal and Rishi Parti. 
 
After serving to-be-wed couples for over one and a half years, WedMeGood has recently launched its app. Plans galore, what intrigues us the most is their almost explosive growth on social media. Business Insider got chatting with founder Anand Shahani on this and the conversation resulted in some key insights on how to get users and keep them engaged on social platforms. Check it out: 
 
Your social media fan following is rising by the day. What were the ideas for making it big on social, and how did you go about implementing them? 
 Weddings are such a high involvement line that most couples start searching for inspiration a year before their wedding. Given that brides are the ones driving decisions we had to reach them where they are most active- <keyword id="819905" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Instagram">Instagram</keyword>, <keyword id="939877" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pinterest">Pinterest</keyword>, Facebook and then attract them to our website. Chances are, if they love our social media feed, when the time comes to hire their vendors, they will turn to us at the time as well. There is of course the matter of being a startup, we are always strapped for cash when it comes to marketing, so we knew we had to make sure our organic channel did superbly. 
 We took some interesting initiatives to get things going for us on social. Like the <keyword id="6358096" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Snapchat">Snapchat</keyword> ‘Fan Takeover’ Initiative. So, our fans take to our Snapchat account when attending a wedding. They snap live from the wedding- right from the decor to the dulhan and our snapchat followers get the feeling of attending a wedding, get great ideas and inspiration in the comfort of their homes. We now get requests from planners, brides and grooms to attend their wedding just so they can be on Wedmegood snapchat. 
 
Which one is your biggest traffic driver? 
Our Facebook Blog has been the biggest traffic driver. The most successful feature has been our real wedding stories, where we showcase albums of couples who recently tied the knot, and list out the vendors they hired and their experience. Not only does this help in engaging couples hunting for great ideas, but also helps us reach a larger audience as the bride and groom share it on their own social media accounts. Our Real weddings have become so popular that we average 1 wedding submission a day in peak period, though we cannot feature all of them. Over the past year, Pinterest has become one of our strongest platforms as well. Our Pinterest boards are divided in a way, so that you can plan your wedding sitting right there. From Sikh brides to Morning weddings, each image pinned has been described in detail. Pinterest now accounts for almost as much traffic as Facebook. 
 
Okay. It’s rightly said save the best for the last. Your best results are on Instagram. How did that happen? 
On Instagram #wedmegood, we currently have over 1,00,000 organic followers. So, we regularly encouraged crowdsourced content from both users and vendors. We told them to upload inspiring wedding photos on their own Instagram and hashtag #wedmegood . We would then repost our favourite tagged photos on our own Insta handle. So far, more than 28,000 photos have been uploaded by others using #wedmegood. 
 
Why did you think of choosing this route of promoting the brand? 
Once we realised its importance, we decided to actively educate ourselves as we as founders too wanted to be involved in the social media to set the tone. Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest came naturally given Mehak’s strong content background. However Pinterest and now Snapchat have had a learning curve. We have always believed that an organic audience translates into a higher quality audience - who are genuinely engaged with your brand - and this is what we found in our experience as well. The reason WedMeGood works is because the audience on it is genuinely engaged with the brand and trusts it. 
 
Elated over the overwhelming response, Anand’s wife and co-founder Mehak S Shahani said: “We are seeing extremely high engagement levels from both couples and vendors. Our users spend an average of 5 minutes on site and during their planning period visit us multiple times a week. In a short span of time, we have been able to provide a platform which couples can trust for their wedding decisions and with the upcoming app, we are sure to provide an even better experience for couples across India.”

With this, users will be able to read and share personalised articles and news stories from trusted sources all over the world with no subscription required, according to the company. Microsoft redesigns Skype with new themes, colour options

According to 9to5Google, this will include <keyword id="15811994" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Googles-Pixel-smartphones" source="Orion">Google's Pixel smartphones</keyword> as well as <keyword id="10808812" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Samsung-Galaxy-devices" source="Orion">Samsung Galaxy devices</keyword>, which both support this 'Material You' theming on home screen icons. With the new update, it will change the Twitter icon's colour to match the users' wallpaper and system, as well as any other apps that support this feature. Other notable apps that support <keyword id="12465365" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="themed-icons" source="Orion">themed icons</keyword> include Slack, Spotify, Telegram, Mastodon, Reddit and more, according to the report. Twitter now supports themed icons in latest Android 13 update

Ride-hailing major <keyword id="1042120" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="UBER" source="Orion">Uber</keyword> has partnered with the US-based robotics company, <keyword id="15813152" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="CARTKEN" source="Orion">Cartken</keyword>, which will provide <keyword id="15813153" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="SIDEWALK-ROBOTS" source="Orion">sidewalk robots</keyword> to its subsidiary, Uber Eats, to deliver food. According to The Verge, the company will be getting six-wheeled delivery robots, developed by a team of former Google engineers, mostly known for deploying their vehicles on college campuses. Uber claims that its partnership with Cartken represents the robotics company's "first formal partnership with a global on-demand delivery app beyond college campuses". Cartken's robots are electric, with a trunk that can hold nearly two dozen pounds of cargo, and embedded cameras that can detect obstacles and direct them to their destination, according to the report. The report also mentioned that the robots have a delivery radius of several miles, but they only travel slightly faster than walking and they cannot climb stairs so they may not be as appealing to people living in multi-storeyed houses. In October, Uber and Motional, a global driverless technology leader, announced a 10-year agreement to offer fully driverless rides using Motional's new all-electric IONIQ 5-based robotaxis. With this, Uber has now returned to the game of robotaxis after it sold its struggling autonomous vehicle business to the US-based Aurora Innovations in 2020. The companies said they will strategically deploy the service in cities across the US, with the first trips expected to start later this year. For Cosme, rechanneling the fervor and labor of fandom into something potentially monetizable was the golden-egg idea that shifted him out of retail and into the pop culture industry."Pop Crave," he typed into his document of potential names for his business venture, one night after work. That same week he created a Twitter account with an Andy Warhol inspired cartoon Marilyn Monroe as an icon, and a slogan: <a href="https://twitter.com/PopCrave">Pop Crave</a>, "Your Go-to Source for Pop Culture News, Chart Updates, Music Releases &amp; More!"Ever since its launch five years ago, Pop Crave has quickly become an ambient and ubiquitous presence on Twitter, and currently boasts over 598,500 followers. It frequently beats legacy publications like Billboard and Rolling Stone in being the first to disseminate music news, as well as circulate niche data others have missed. Pop Crave has become a leading entertainment news source on Twitter. <h2>Pop Crave prioritizes speed</h2>Pop Crave's popularity on Twitter, specifically, should come as no surprise. This isn't something Cosme would have considered when he set to work on Pop Crave during that summer five years ago, alongside friend Harry Johnson. Each day, while still working his shift as a store assistant, Cosme would spend an average of ten hours "relentlessly posting content," and scouring through celebrities' social media pages, trying to find untapped data he could give meaning to. For the first three years, Cosme wasn't making a profit. He took many bathroom breaks at his store assistant job so he could keep writing news updates throughout the day. His friends and family couldn't fathom it, they told Cosme he was wasting his time. "What kept me going was my pure love and passion for pop culture and pop music. I wanted to create something out of nothing so bad," he says. Cosme found a gap he was determined to fill. "I'd come across thousands of accounts dedicated to different things, but there weren't any independent news accounts at the time." He had a clear vision in mind — a platform for pop culture enthusiasts that would roll out daily news, chart updates, throwbacks, music anniversaries, and fun facts. The followers and audience came almost instantly."Twitter was the perfect tool for us because it allows us to crank out news as quickly as we do and it taught us how to get directly to the point in so many characters, which is what fans love," he says. "They get the whole story in a nutshell. I think we were able to create such a presence because we're consistent, there's no 'off' button for Pop Crave." <h2>In 2018, Cosme began rercruiting writers for volunteer work</h2>As Pop Crave gained more influence and momentum, Johnson and Cosme enlisted their mutual friend Jericho Capio to join the team, but "80% of the work" still fell on Cosme. In 2018, he began recruiting writers — most commonly journalism graduates fresh out of school — for volunteer work. His team of eight, he says, have "backgrounds from across the board."They all work individually and remotely, and communicate and distribute workload via Whatsapp, and more recently through Zoom, though Cosme is soon looking to purchase an office. Within the next two years, he hopes to be able to pay his staff a full-time wage, but for now, Will says that anyone working for Pop Crave will be "happy to build their portfolio and learn about entertainment media." People who do work for Pop Crave are also rewarded with college credit and 'perks' whenever they become available.Shae Woodward, who joined Pop Crave in late 2018, says that while staff aren't paid, "it isn't about the money." For Woodward, who previously worked in business development and marketing at PeopleTV, Pop Crave is more like a "passion project," which she hopes will one day materialize into a full-time job. For now, although staff don't supposedly work on a full-time basis, Pop Crave is a "24/7 hour gig."<h2>For its staff, Pop Crave is more of a passion project than a full-time job</h2>In February 2019, around the time Cosme left his job as a store assistant in order to pursue Pop Crave full-time, Drew Howard came on board as an editor. A graduate from Grand Valley State University, Howard moved to New York for a three-month internship in New York, where he wrote about personal finance, before moving back to his home city of Michigan, where he spent his days looking for writing jobs on Indeed.com. When he was eventually hired into a virtual role for a $2,000 fee, he never saw that money.Pop Crave seemed like a lifeline in an otherwise unavailing landscape. The account had 270,000 followers by the time Howard joined, but it's since accumulated more than double that in a little over a year. In that time, he's had the opportunity to connect with journalists from Rolling Stone, Variety, Billboard, and many more, while they've used Pop Crave as a source — furthering the Twitter account's credibility. He's also witnessed an explosion of Twitter news accounts inspired by Pop Crave, leading him to believe that the future of music journalism is down the very path he's on. As staff newsrooms are radically downsizing, and publications are going under, Howard feels he has nowhere else to put his faith than in Pop Crave. "I don't see myself applying for jobs at a place like Billboard or Rolling Stone or Vulture in this media environment with the pandemic," he says. "The most I've ever been paid to write (outside of PopCrave, to be clear) was about $75 dollars a week. I don't want to put my trust in major (and trashy) corporations anymore, we want to start our own thing." Pop Crave stands out from these outlets, Howard believes, since its shortcomings have become its strengths. "Because most of our news is in tweet form, and not an article that requires you to click on it, we are providing more information in our captions." In other words, Pop Crave isn't clickbait, according to its staff.<a href="https://twitter.com/paulbridgewater">Paul Bridgewater</a>, who has a background in marketing, and is the current editor-in-chief of independent music website The Line Of Best Fit, views Pop Crave a little less generously. "Everyone who's producing content is complicit in the grey areas around clickbait," he says, "but there's a line that's often crossed." No matter how careful the journalist's phrasing, nor how neutrally presenting, entertainment news is almost always likely to elicit a reaction. "That's part of why we do it, but then you have [Pop Crave], a faceless, almost anonymous twitter account spewing out tweets as content, and doing it in a way that's meant to feel like they are some pop-obsessed website." Cosme and Howard are insistent that Pop Crave is a legitimate source of music journalism. "The goal of journalism, as I was taught, is to communicate a message that's straightforward, free of bias, fact-checked and easily digestible," says Drew. "Over half a million users trust us enough to get their info on our page, so if that's not journalism, I don't know what is."<h2>'Pop Crave has less to do with journalism than it does online fandom'</h2><div type="image" title="kpop oz ateez crowd fans" height="1499" width="3000" msid="79178459" hostid="261"></div><a href="https://twitter.com/noyokono">Gary Suarez</a>, who has worked as a <keyword id="278613" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Freelance">freelance</keyword> music journalist for almost two decades, writing for the New York Times, NPR, and Forbes, among others, believes Pop Crave has less to do with journalism than it does with online fandom. "It's a disruptor that has zero interest in journalism, preferring instead to appeal to the fans and stans scrolling on social," he said. "It doesn't exist as a replacement for music journalism, because that wrongly implies its followers were people who'd also, or were it to disappear, instead read music journalism."Suarez has had Pop Crave blocked on Twitter for a while now, after noticing that it sometimes pulled content from other publications "without the professional decency of crediting or linking." Recently, however, it appears that Pop Crave has made a concerted effort to credit other sources.Suarez calls Pop Crave "an optimized way to convey certain bits of information to music fans on social media" that on its best day is a "link farm." Some staff agree that Pop Crave's reporting is more aligned with internet fandom culture. "I'm not sure how to summarize exactly how we fact check," says Howard, "but a lot of it comes from a basic understanding of Stan Twitter. We're good at sniffing out what's fake and what's real just from our experience on the platform. There are also platforms like Reddit and ATRL that help us, as well as the thousands of stan accounts that are doing their own version of reporting." But Cosme is adamant that Pop Crave fact checks just like any other major organization would. " Our credibility and reputation are important," he says.One credibility campaign the group is embarking on is trying to get verified on Twitter. Since Pop Crave's content is so inimitable, numerous <a href="https://twitter.com/PopCrrave">parody accounts</a> have emerged on Twitter, with the same cartoon Marilyn Monroe icon. "We run into these daily, and to be honest, it's frustrating and distracting," says Will. According to a Twitter spokesperson, the website has "paused public submissions for verification. However, our teams around the world continue to work closely with trusted partners to verify select accounts." They refused to provide any details on individual accounts like Pop Crave. Beyond the Twitter account, Pop Crave is trying to establish legitimacy elsewhere.Recently, Cosme launched a Pop Crave website. <a href="https://popcravenews.com/">Popcravenews.com</a> publishes features, interviews, and longer-form content, with the intention to give the brand "an editorial voice" as well as something "professional-looking" that will "attract artists who want to collaborate with us." The team is also developing a podcast, which they hope will bring in a steady cash flow. Perhaps most notably, Pop Crave gained attention for being one of the first outlets (at nearly the same time as Insider) to call the 2020 presidential election in the US for Joe Biden, via Decision Desk HQ. Cookie cereal is here, and it's ready to <a href="https://www.insider.com/easy-whipped-drinks-that-you-can-make-at-home-2020-4">take over your social media</a>. It's easy to see the appeal of cookie cereal. The bowls of tiny <keyword id="118638" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Cookies">cookies</keyword>, swimming in pools of milk, are reminiscent of the Cookie Crisp cereal that we used to love as kids.<div type="image" title="cookie crisp cereal" height="1335" width="2000" msid="75683749" hostid="261"></div><h2>In fact, Cookie Crisp suddenly began trending on Twitter after Justin Schuble posted his cookie cereal video on TikTok and Instagram on Thursday</h2> Schuble, who is behind the popular Instagram account <a href="https://www.instagram.com/dcfoodporn/">@dcfoodporn</a>, told Insider that he was inspired to make cookie cereal after trying out the miniature pancake trend."I added milk to my original pancake cereal attempt and got some backlash because milk and pancakes aren't a combination we immediately think of," he said. "So I started to think about things that actually work with milk — cookies!" Better yet, Schuble realized that many of his followers would <a href="https://www.insider.com/self-taught-baker-makes-three-ingredient-desserts-recipes-2020-5">already have the ingredients</a> to make their own cookie cereal. "Most of my recipes are simple, easy to replicate, and use ingredients that you probably have in your pantry because I want to provide my audience with ideas for what they can make at home," he said. "Most people either have cookie dough in their fridge, or have the ingredients necessary to make it." <h2>When he first tried to make cookie cereal, Schuble took one pack of Nestlé Toll House chocolate chip cookie dough and cut it both lengthwise and crosswise</h2><div type="image" title="cookie crisp cereal" height="1102" width="956" msid="75683750" hostid="261"></div>He then rolled each small square of dough into a ball and baked them all on a cookie sheet. <div type="image" title="cookie cereal" height="1112" width="954" msid="75683752" hostid="261"></div><h2>Schuble said he learned a lot from his first attempt, and picked up some tricks when he made cookie cereal the second time around</h2>"First, I would recommend making sure all of the cookie dough pieces are the same size so that they cook evenly," he said. After cutting your cookie dough into even pieces, Schuble recommends rounding the edges instead of rolling each piece into a ball. "Flatten them slightly," he said. "I added an extra chocolate chip on top for the ideal presentation." <div type="image" title="cookie cereal" height="1616" width="1080" msid="75683753" hostid="261"></div>Then pop the dough in the oven and bake the cookies at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for seven minutes so that they come out "still slightly soft." "Then let them sit on the counter for a few minutes to harden up," Schuble added. <h2>Once it's time to enjoy your bowl of cookie cereal, make sure to be careful with the milk <div type="image" title="cookie cereal" height="1616" width="1080" msid="75683756" hostid="261"></div></h2>"The cookies can get soggy," Schuble said. "I'd recommend adding some cookies and milk and trying it before adding more. Or another option is to eat them with ice cream as a dessert!" <h2>Food blogger Valentina Mussi tried to turn cookies into cereal back in March, using pre-packaged miniature chocolate chip cookies to test out the concept</h2>But when Mussi saw Schuble's video, she decided to give the budding trend a new spin and make her own cookie cereal completely from scratch. Mussi, who runs the Instagram page <a href="https://www.instagram.com/sweetportfolio/">@sweetportfolio</a>, told Insider that she opted to make miniature snickerdoodle cookies because the dough doesn't have to be chilled. <div type="image" title="cookie cereal" height="2500" width="2000" msid="75683758" hostid="261"></div>Mussi rolled the dough into tiny balls and tossed them in cinnamon sugar before placing them on a <keyword id="6360038" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="baking">baking</keyword> sheet lined with parchment paper. <div type="image" title="cookie cereal" height="2500" width="2000" msid="75683764" hostid="261"></div>She baked the cookies at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for five minutes and, like Schuble, let the cookies cool down for a few minutes so that they could "harden a bit." Mussi likewise advises against adding too much milk, warning that the cookies get soggier than regular cereal. <h2>Both Schuble and Mussi have tried plenty of TikTok food trends, and Mussi said she far prefers cookie cereal to miniature pancakes</h2>"They're much easier to make!" she said. "The mini pancakes involve such a tedious process." Schuble also loves that cookie cereal puts a fresh and easy spin on Cookie Crisps, without requiring a lot of ingredients. "I see this homemade cookie cereal as a new and improved version that you can make without going shopping," he said. "It's definitely more time-consuming than opening a box of cereal, but a lot of us have some extra time on our hands these days. Miniature waffles have already begun popping up on Instagram as well. And there's even mini Pop-Tarts!"I am now obsessed with mini versions of things and eating them in cereal form," Mussi said.
