A press release form Dr Reddy's said the portfolio includes approximately 45 commercial products, four pipeline products and 40 approved non-marketed products, including a number of generic products focused on women's health. Under the terms of the agreement, Dr Reddy's will acquire the portfolio for an upfront payment of approximately USD 90 million in cash, contingent payments of up to USD 15 million, consideration towards inventory and credits for certain accrued channel liabilities to be determined on the closing date, it said. For the financial period ended June 30, 2022, Mayne Pharma reported total revenue of USD 111 million (USD) for the acquired portfolio. Approved high-value products include a hormonal vaginal ring, a birth control pill and a cardiovascular product. The closing of the transaction is subject to satisfactory completion of customary closing conditions including the applicable waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976 (HSR Act), as amended. The acquisition will complement Dr Reddy's US retail prescription <keyword id="6469017" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="pharmaceutical" source="Orion">pharmaceutical</keyword> business with limited competition products. It also supports Dr Reddy's efforts to accelerate and expand affordable medications for patients, the release further said. Marc Kikuchi, Chief Executive Officer, North America business, Dr Reddy's, said, "This important acquisition provides our North America organisation with a significant foothold in the women's health space. The acquisition is in line with our stated strategy to enhance our portfolio in our chosen growth markets. We are well-positioned to successfully integrate the portfolio and grow the business." Drug maker Cipla Limited on Sunday announced the launch of experimental anti-viral drug remdesivir under its <keyword id="9441113" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="brand-name-cipremi">brand name Cipremi</keyword>. Remdesivir is the only US FDA approved Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) treatment for adult and paediatric patients hospitalized with suspected or laboratory confirmed COVID-19 infection. In May, US drug maker Gilead Sciences extended a voluntary non-exclusive license to Cipla to manufacture and market Cipla's generic version of remedisvir called Cipremi. The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has granted Cipla regulatory approval for restricted emergency use in the country as part of the accelerated approval process considering the urgent and unmet medical need, the company said in a statement. As part of a risk management plan, Cipla will provide training on use of the drug, inform patient consent documents, conduct post marketing surveillance as well as conduct a Phase IV <keyword id="122283" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Clinical-trial">clinical trial</keyword> on Indian patients. "Cipla appreciates the strong partnership with Gilead to bring remdesivir to patients in India. According to a preliminary report from the ACTT-1 (Adaptive COVID-19 Treatment Trial 1) study, a randomized clinical trial conducted with remdesivir on 1,063 patients over 60 centres across US, Europe and Asia demonstrated a faster time to clinical recovery in hospitalised patients as compared to placebo. Most of these patients were on oxygen therapy of which some were receiving high flow oxygen or non-invasive ventilation, and some were on a mechanical ventilator. The mortality rates in the study were 7.1 per cent in those given remdesivir and 11.9 per cent in those who were given placebo. In May, Gilead Sciences signed non-exclusive voluntary licensing agreements with six Indian pharmaceutical companies to boost the supply of remdesivir, the experimental antiviral drug that has shown promise in Covid-19 treatment. These companies were -- Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd., <keyword id="9441116" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="zydus-cadila-healthcare-ltd-">Zydus Cadila Healthcare Ltd.</keyword>, Biocon company Syngene, Hetero Labs Ltd.; Jubilant Lifesciences; and Cipla Ltd. Media reports said that Hetero Labs Ltd has also received regulatory approval from DCGI but the drug maker was yet to make it official. As part of the review process, Dr. Reddy's will present the safety profile of the phase 2 study, and interim data of the phase 3 study, which is expected to complete by February 21, the Hyderabad-based firm said. Sputnik V has demonstrated an efficacy rate of 91.6 per cent in the interim analysis of the phase 3 clinical trial, which included data on 19,866 volunteers in Russia, who received both the first and second doses of the vaccine. Sputnik V maintained a consistent efficacy at 91.8 per cent even among the group of 2,144 volunteers over 60 years old. "The efficacy of Sputnik V was reported to be 91.6 per cent by the Lancet, which is an impressive development in the fight against Covid-19. The initiation of the EUA process will be a critical step forward for us in ensuring speedy access to the Sputnik V vaccine in India," said G.V. Sputnik V developed by the Gamaleya National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology was registered by the Ministry of Health of Russia on August 11, 2020 and became the world's first registered vaccine against Covid-19 based on the human adenoviral vector platform. More than 250 clinical studies over two decades have proven the safety, efficacy, and lack of negative long-term effects of adenoviral vaccines. Dr.Reddy's gets authorisation to start rolling out Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine in India

(Eds: Changes headline) Hyderabad, July 15 () Hetero Healthcare Ltd is supplying 60,000 vials of Covifor, generic version of Remdesivir injection in the country from July 13 to 20, the company website said. Covifor is the first generic brand of Remdesivir, which is meant for treatment of COVID-19 patients that are adults and children, hospitalised with severe symptoms of the disease. The drug is available in 100 mg vial (Injectable). It needs to be administered intravenously in a hospital, critical care setting, under the supervision of a registered medical practitioner. Out of 60,000 vials, Maharashtra, which has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the country will get 12,500 followed by Delhi and Telangana with 10,000 and 9,000 respectively. According to the website, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka will get 7500, 6000, 2000 and 3000 respectively while the rest of the country will get 10,000 injections. The company has supplied the drug to as many as 166 hospitals in Maharashtra and 53 in the national capital. When it comes to Telangana , Hetero supplied 14,502 vials, the information available at 11 AM on the site on Wednesday said. Remdesivir is the only drug approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) for Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) treatment of adult and paediatric patients hospitalised with suspected or laboratory confirmed COVID-19 infection. Hetero Healthcare Ltd starts supply of generic Remdesivir

New Delhi, Jan 3 () Drug major Dr Reddy's Laboratories on Friday said it has received shareholders nod for proposed amalgamation of Dr Reddy's Holdings Ltd into the company.
 The resolution for the scheme was approved by 99.98 per cent votes of the total 13.10 crore votes casted by equity shareholders of the company, it said in a regulatory filing.
 21,026 votes, which accounted for the rest 0.02 per cent, were posted against the resolution, it added.
 The voting was conducted as per the directions of the Hyderabad Bench of the National Company Law Tribunal on November 22, 2019.
 The meeting of equity shareholders was convened on January 2, 2020.
 The board of Dr Reddy's Laboratories had on July 29, 2019, approved the amalgamation of Dr Reddy's Holdings Ltd, an entity held by the promoter group which holds 24.88 per cent equity shares of Dr Reddy's Laboratories, into the company.
 The scheme would lead to simplification of the shareholding structure and reduction of shareholding tiers, the company had said. "The Promoter Group cumulatively will continue to hold the same number of shares in the Company, pre and post the amalgamation," it had said.

New Delhi, Feb 7 () Dr Reddy's Laboratories Ltd on Friday announced the launch of Trientine Hydrochloride capsules in the US market. Trientine works by removing copper from the blood. It is used to treat Wilson's disease, a genetic metabolic defect that causes excess copper to build up in the body. In a regulatory filing, Dr Reddy's Laboratories announced the launch of Trientine Hydrochloride capsules USP, 250 mg, a therapeutically equivalent generic version of Syprine (trientine hydrochloride) capsules approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA). "We are pleased to provide this convenient alternative for patients, pharmacists and distribution partners," Chief Executive Officer and Head of Dr Reddy's North America Generics Marc Kikuchi said. The Syprine brand and generic products had US sales or approximately 94.2 million dollar MAT (Moving Annual Total) for the most recent twelve months ending in December 2019, according to IMS Health. New Delhi, Mar 19 () Drug firm Dr Reddy's Laboratories on Thursday said it has launched generic Naloxone Hydrochloride injection, indicated for complete or partial reversal of opioid depression, in the US market. The company has launched Naloxone Hydrochloride injection USP, 2 mg/2 mL (1 mg/mL) single-dose prefilled syringe after the approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA), Dr Reddy's said in a statement. The product is a generic version of ADAPT Pharma Operations Ltd's Narcan injection, it added. Top officials of the city-based drug maker in the latest annual report said the dependence on China for the supply of intermediates and active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) will change in future as global pharma companies will want to reduce their dependence on that country and there ought to be more backward integration as firms attempt to establish themselves as end-to-end manufacturers. "Overall, however, there was no major impact of the pandemic on either in Q4 FY2020 or the full year FY2020. Equally, there is no denying that we may face many COVID-19 related uncertainties in FY2021. New Delhi, Feb 27 () Dr Reddy's Laboratories on Thursday said it has launched the first generic version of Vimovo tablets, used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, in the US market. The Hyderabad-based firm announced the first-to-market launch of Naproxen and Esomeprazole Magnesium delayed-release tablets in the US market, Dr Reddy's Laboratories Ltd (DRL) said in a statement. The company's product is the generic version of Vimovo tablets approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA). "This launch is a testament to our core strengths in areas of research and development and intellectual property," DRL North America Generics CEO Marc Kikuchi said. He further said: "We are excited to be a part of forming the first generic market for Vimovo tablets and to provide an affordable treatment alternative for patients." As per IQVIA Health, the Vimovo brand had the US sales of around USD 414 million for the most recent twelve months ending in December 2019.
