The deceased were identified as Bhanu Prasad (50) and Anita Devi (45). A spokesperson from the State Disaster Response Force (<keyword id="20485516" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="SDRF" source="keywords">SDRF</keyword>) said that after receiving information about three people missing due to a cloudburst last night at Jakhanyali in the Ghansali area of Tehri the SDRF team searched the area. "During the search, the SDRF recovered two bodies and found an injured person, who was brought to the hospital through a stretcher from a 200-metre-deep ditch. The bodies were subsequently handed over to the district police," said the official. Meanwhile, two children died and nine others were injured after the roof of a dilapidated house collapsed in the Bhori Dera area of Haridwar following heavy rainfall, said an official. The deceased were identified as Aas Mohammed (10) and Nagma (8). Speaking about the incident, Haridwar District Magistrate Dhiraj Singh Garbyal said, "Following heavy rainfall, 11 people were trapped in the debris after the roof of a house collapsed in Bhori Dera under the Bahadarabad police station area of Haridwar." "Two children, Aas Mohammed (10) and Nagma (8), died in the incident and three others were critically injured and are undergoing treatment. The remaining people are also hospitalised but are out of danger. This old house was in a dilapidated state, and heavy rain caused it to collapse," said the DM. The District Magistrate and SSP reached the spot to assess the situation. The officials spoke to the local people and immediately ordered to shift the injured to the local hospital. The officials also assured to provide compensation to the deceased and the injured in the entire matter as per the government order. According to the DM and the SSP, the priority of the administration and police is to rescue the people buried in the incident safely, after which the compensation will be announced. Earlier on Wednesday, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued a 'red alert' for Uttarakhand. Following the instructions of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Commissioner of Garhwal Division Vinay Shankar Pandey inspected disaster relief camps and disaster-affected areas in Tehri district earlier on Monday. Pandey visited Government Inter College Vinak Khal, Tingarh village, and Budhakedar, listening to the concerns of the affected residents.He held meetings with disaster-affected individuals and officials in temporary relief camps, assuring them of the government's commitment to sensitive and effective disaster relief efforts. Chief Minister Dhami emphasised that there should be no shortage of funds for disaster relief work. During his visit, the Commissioner reviewed the arrangements in the relief camps, instructing for power backup, television access, children's education, and livelihood support.

The IMD has issued an <keyword id="2917676" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="orange-alert" source="Orion">orange alert</keyword> for Dehradun, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat and Bageshwar districts while a <keyword id="3290791" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="yellow-alert" source="Orion">yellow alert</keyword> has been issued for Haridwar, Tehri, Chamoli, Udham Singh Nagar and Pithoragarh districts. Heavy rains in Uttarakhand had triggered landslides and flash floods in several places, officials said. An official estimate earlier put the toll from rain-related incidents in the state at 52 while another 37 people were injured. Even today, a part of the famous Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple in Dehradun has collapsed following incessant rain. Devotees faced problems as the way leading to the temple's entrance was partially blocked due to the falling of trees. (ANI)

In Uttarkashi district, one person died in a car accident on the Mando-Tekla motorway late on Tuesday night after losing control of his car and falling into a 100-meter-deep gorge. In Dwarahat area of Almora district, a mother and her two minor daughters also lost their lives after their two-storey house collapsed due to incessant rains on Tuesday night. Further, wet weather has caused rivers like Gaula, Sher Nala, Surya Nala in the Kumaon region to swell up. However, public sound systems are in place in sensitive areas, so as to inform people on a mass scale in case of emergencies. Since the beginning of June, Uttarakhand has collectively recorded normal precipitation at 262.8 mm. The district of Bageshwar has particularly received ‘large excess’ rainfall at 554 mm, while Pithoragarh (464.5 mm), Udham Singh Nagar (360.4 mm) and Chamoli (191.6 mm) have all registered ‘excess’ showers as compared to their respective long-term average figures. IMD issues 'red alert' in Uttarakhand for heavy rainfall in the next two days

The national capital, Delhi has again seen more than expected rain on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Himalayan states of Uttarakhand and <keyword id="6358126" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="himachal-pradesh" source="Orion">Himachal Pradesh</keyword> continue their tryst with the bad weather which has left many homeless. The financial capital of the country, Mumbai, has also received heavy downpour since morning and this is expected to continue till late evening. Here is a quick update of what’s happening in these areas across the country. Uttarakhand: Yamunotri National Highway blocked The traffic on the Yamunotri National Highway has been suspended due to the continuous debris falling at five places of Uttarkashi including Dabarkot and Jhar Jhar Gad. "Efforts are on to open the highway by the National Highway Authority Barkot. Passengers are stranded at various places on the highway due to the closure of the highway," according to District Disaster ManagementoOfficer, Uttarkashi. Apart from this, the Chamiala-Budhakedar Motor road has been also closed due to excessive water and debris in Chail Gadere in Lata village in Himachal Pradesh. The District Disaster Management Officer of Tehri District, Brijesh Bhatt informed that due to the surge in the water level of Gadere, water and debris have entered 5-6 houses. Delhi: Yamuna's water level breaches danger mark again The water level of River Yamuna surges again, as it was recorded at 205.83 at 10:00 am on Thursday. Notably, the danger mark of the Yamuna is 205.33 meters. After days of receding, the Yamuna water level in the national capital once again crossed the danger mark amid incessant rains in Delhi and adjoining areas. In the NCR, the Hindon River also witnessed a rise in the water level. Visuals showed that the area near Ecotech 3 got submerged following the surged water level due to which many vehicles got stuck in the water. Himachal Pradesh: Kinnaur, Spiti valley cut off from Shimla The Kinnaur and Spiti Valley, both tribal districts, have been cut off from Shimla, the national capital, following the blockade of National Highway 5 (Hindustan-Tibet Road) due to rock falling, landslides, and sinking of road. The National Highway has been blocked at Baroni, Manglad, and Pashada near Jhakri in the Rampur Subdivision of Shimla. Alternate routes are also closed due to heavy rains and landslides. The Luhri-Aut National Highway (305) is also blocked at three places and gushing waters have entered many houses. Stranded, drivers of public transport vehicles are running out of food and trying to cross the blocked stretches on foot. Videos of people crossing the landslides on foot amid risk of stone falling and landslides have been widely circulated on the internet. Incessant rains in Mumbai; IMD forecasts heavy to very heavy showers Heavy rains lashed Mumbai and suburbs in the last 24 hours with some areas receiving extremely heavy showers, officials said on Thursday. The city witnessed incessant rainfall since Thursday morning, but there was no report of any major waterlogging in low-lying areas, they said. The India Meteorological Department's (IMD) Mumbai centre has predicted "heavy to very heavy rain" in the city on Thursday. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) declared a holiday for all government and private schools and colleges here on Thursday after the IMD issued a 'red' alert for the metropolis. Maharashtra: Traffic blocked on one arm of Mumbai-Pune Expressway The highway police on Thursday blocked the movement of vehicles on the Mumbai-bound arm of the Pune-Mumbai Expressway for two hours to remove boulders and mud on the carriageway, officials said. Due to incessant rains in the region, a landslide occurred on July 23 near the Adoshi tunnel on the busy road, said an official. The special two-hour traffic block was taken from 12 noon and 2 pm, he said. So far, the highway police have taken three such blocks to remove the debris and mud on the Mumbai-bound lane of the Expressway, he said. Telangana administration on high alert The Telangana government has put the entire state administration on high alert in view of the incessant rains that have been lashing the state during the last couple of days. Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari said that as per the directions of Chief Minister K. The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority action follows development of a low pressure area over south Andaman Sea and adjoining areas of south-east Bay of Bengal that is likely to concentrate into a depression in the next 36 hours and reach south Tamil Nadu coast around Wednesday. Weather officials have predicted moderate to heavy rains starting Tuesday till Friday in the state. Strong winds are also expected to hit the state, especially the southern districts. Orange alert is given to authorities to be prepared. The Safdarjung Observatory, which provides representative data, recorded a minimum temperature of 4.4 degrees Celsius, while Ayanagar and Lodhi Road weather stations registered 3.5 and 3.8 degrees Celsius. The city is likely to record another "severe" cold day on Friday. "Cold day to severe cold day at a few places and cold wave to severe cold wave conditions at many places.
