A budget offering from the brand, the TWS buds are tuned towards a set of users who are looking for options under a budget. Redmi emphasised that the product is developed keeping the younger generation in mind. But is it enough for the Buds 3 lite to create a name for itself in such a cluttered market? Especially, when competitors like OnePlus and Realme have their own offering to compete. I will try to put things in perspective with this review. Price &amp; Availability Redmi Buds 3 Lite is priced at ₹1,999 and will be available on company’s website and Amazon India. Design &amp; Build Redmi Buds 3 Lite have entered a competitive segment, where small details can make a big difference. The brand has played it safe here, with the design being as basic as possible. It’s not wrong necessarily but when you look at Realme Buds Q2s with a transparent lid, you feel there is room for some experimentation. <div type="image" title="Redmi Buds 3 Lite are portable and easy to carry" msid="93273695" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Redmi Buds 3 Lite are portable and easy to carry&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The Redmi 3 Buds with me are in black color and have an engraved Redmi branding on the case. The case, as I mentioned, is basic and there is nothing to rave about it. Sporting a plastic build, the finishing on the case is a bit slippery, and you might have to maintain a conscious grip around it if you are clumsy like me. The case also gets scratched if you keep it with your keys. Moving on, Redmi has struck well when it comes to the form factor of the case. It is compact and lightweight. It’s small enough to fit in your pocket along with other items, so full marks for portability. The case has a tiny LED up front for denoting charge once plugged in. On the bottom you will find a USB Type-C charging port. The buds follow the traditional dot design, which is compact and sits well in the ears. They also have a nylon hook, which is supposed to add a better grip. I personally don’t find them as useful, and unfortunately, the bundled hooks didn’t do the job for me either. The buds are IP54 splash resistant, which means they are supposed to hold well against sweat and minor splashes. As they did, since I didn’t face any problems with the buds during my workout. It’s a simple 3 tap process. You turn on the Bluetooth on the device, refresh the list and select the accessory. The buds show up on the Bluetooth range instantly, making the pairing process smooth. Once connected, there is a sound notifying the pairing. The buds can also be used individually, a feature I would like to see on all devices of this nature. The execution here gave me no reason to complain and I could use individual buds easily. These results were similar for both my Android phone and iPhone. Another point to note here is that Redmi Buds 3 Lite uses Bluetooth 5.2, which promises better connectivity and audio performance. <div type="image" title="Gesture support on Redmi Buds 3 Lite is choppy" msid="93274214" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Gesture support on Redmi Buds 3 Lite is choppy&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The gesture support on the buds is choppy. I have used both the OnePlus Nord Buds and Realme Buds Q2s and in order of ranking the gesture support the Redmi Buds 3 Lite is the weakest. This is disappointing given that there is no real variety in gestures either. A single tap plays and pauses the music, while a double tap is used on respective buds on either of the buds is used for answering calls. Then there is the classic, a long press for voice assistants. So far in my 3 days of usage, the buds have rarely responded to the gestures precisely. And it does get annoying after a while. I tried to figure out a crack for this, and as it turns out there are particular spots on the buds where one needs to tap for the gestures to work. Once clear, it was a smooth sail. However, for a generic consumer, this can be jargon and hinders the very convenience that a TWS unit promises to offer. I hope Redmi takes note of this since the hardware on Redmi devices doesn’t usually disappoint. The multi-device connectivity on the buds is also missing - a common miss on budget buds. Audio Performance Redmi Buds 3 Lite features 6mm Dynamic drivers, which deliver a decent audio performance. I have used the buds to listen to a variety of music, and made my observations accordingly. Starting with the good. The volume levels on the buds are fairly loud, and one can actually cut away from their surroundings thanks to the audio output. It has small drivers but they deliver decent thump and bass, sometimes better than Nord Buds and Realme Q2s. This opinion stays concrete for every genre I tested, from classic Kishore Kumar to recent tracks by Tyga. However, I do wish there was a way I could switch volume levels from the buds, but this feature is missing across the budget segment. Where the buds miss out is details. The loudness of the buds tends to take over audio details at times. This is noticeable with streaming both music and content. The recurring problem has been the audio output having an echo. It is not noticeable in songs with mellow beats, but gets more prominent with high-energy soundtracks, involving multiple instruments. That said, it does not spoil the experience to the point that you don’t enjoy your music. The range on the buds is also favorable, Redmi claims it has a 10-meter range and practically it’s close to the same. I could plug in my device at charge and listen to music without any issues. There is also a game mode on the buds, which gets activated once you press and hold both buds at the same time. I did two sessions of BGMI with its game mode. And there was no noticeable difference between the regular audio and dedicated game modes. Either way, the buds are a good comrade for gaming. I could figure out the direction of sound with the buds on. The calling experience on the buds was surprisingly decent and on par with Nord Buds. The audio quality was clear, and the microphone performed perfectly. However, I still find budget TWS buds lacking the microphone quality we see on high quality wired earphones. Case in point my regular wired Apple earpods. Buds 3 Lite promises 18 hour playback on single charge, with the case carrying 13 hours of charge on the go. The real-time performance is around 14 hours, give or take. It means a light user who use the buds on commute will have to plug them once in 3 days. A heavy user who takes them for gyming, commuting and casual streaming will have to plug them in within a day and a half of usage. These numbers shouldn’t be discouraging, though, they are in line with the portfolio of Budget TWS buds. The saving grace is the quick charge feature though, 10 minutes of plug-in time gives you about an hour of usage. Verdict Redmi Buds 3 Lite delivers on the expectations we set with a budget of TWS buds. Still, to put things in perspective, if you are confused between them, Realme Q2s and Nord Buds read the following. The Redmi Buds 3 Lite are for users who like classic TWS features and can adjust to the minimal aesthetic. You get a loud audio output which is mostly good and decent calling performance, plus Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. In the case of Nord Buds and Realme Q2S, there is an aesthetic advantage and better gesture support. But the audio performance is at par and sometimes underwhelming compared to the Redmi Buds 3 Lite. While I have moved on to wireless headphones, I still like using my wired earphones when the other ones are charging. And not being able to connect them to this Galaxy M52 device is annoying at times. Interestingly, its predecessor, the Galaxy M51, did feature the 3.5mm audio jack. Again, it might not be an issue for many users, but if for you it is, then you can look at Realme X7 Max 5G in the same price range. Overall, the phone feels good in the hands and single-handle operation is comfortable. The phone is sleek and is lightweight, but the back does catch fingerprints and using a back cover is recommended. Design-wise, the only negatives would be its audio features; lack of 3.5mm jack and poor sound quality from the speakers. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Display" comment="subhead" text="Display">Display</cmsannotation> The display is one of its superior features. Watching videos on YouTube and OTT platforms is truly an amazing experience given the picture clarity and sharpness. Even while playing games, the display offers clarity and with its 120Hz refresh rate the experience is quite smooth. It was easy to spot opponents in battle royale games and first person shooter games in general. The picture quality and the clarity of the display delivers an enjoyable gaming experience. The Galaxy M52 5G’s has Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the display that should offer some amount of protection from scratches and accidental drops. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Performance" comment="subhead" text="Performance">Performance</cmsannotation> The Galaxy M52 5G is powered by a competent mid-range processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset. It offers consistent performance across the system and applications. The apps load in no time, and I did not experience any lag while switching between them or searching for them. I found the performance of the phone to be exceptionally good while gaming or streaming content from OTT platforms. <div type="image" title="Back" msid="86867052" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div>I encountered an issue where the M52 did struggle a bit. While all the devices in my room had no issues connecting to my 5GHz WiFi connection, the M52 did show sign of poor connectivity, which was due to the range as it improved as I moved closer to the router. Samsung and other smartphone makers are now providing 5G support to mid-range and budget smartphones, and with this Galaxy M52, you get support for 11 bands of 5G. However, 5G is yet to roll out in India and you will not be able to use this feature any time soon in the country. The 5G support makes it future proof and also allows you to use the feature when you travel to a country that supports the 5G network. Gaming I tried games like Asphalt 9 and Battlegrounds Mobile India, and the performance of the phone was quite incredible. Both the fast chipset and good quality display combine to offer crisp and vibrant graphics that help in gaming. There was no lag or frame drop instance while playing any of these highly demanding games. It did get warm but I did not experience abnormal heating after playing for 45 minutes to an hour. It may heat up if played for longer but I cannot be certain since I did not test it yet. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Battery" comment="subhead" text="Battery">Battery</cmsannotation> There is a significant drop in battery capacity from its predecessor. The Galaxy M51 was equipped with a gigantic 7,000mAh battery while this Galaxy M52 comes with a 5,000mAh battery, which is still massive. However, this is quite impressive for this device since its thickness is claimed to be reduced by 21%. In terms of performance, the battery life is impressive as it gave me over 9 hours of screen time with mixed usage including light gaming, streaming and web-browsing. The phone comes with a 15W charger in the box, which takes about two hours to recharge the battery fully from under 10% charge. Nevertheless, the phone is compatible with a 25W Samsung charger that should improve the charging time significantly. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Camera" comment="subhead" text="Camera">Camera</cmsannotation> Interestingly, Samsung has reduced the number of camera sensors on this Galaxy M52 compared to its predecessor. The rear camera module features a 64MP primary sensor, 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 5MP Macro sensor. The pictures have high dynamic range, sharp focus and clarity. The ultra-wide lens also captures a large field of view and delivers decent performance during the day. For better results., using a tripod while shooting videos is recommended. There is a Single Take mode that can capture a moment in various ways including, a panoramic view, regular view and a video. The Fun mode is integrated with Snapchat filters and allows you to click images with funny backgrounds and virtual props. To explore other modes, you will have to click on More, where you can access Pro Mode, to set the auto-focus, white balance, ISO, aperture and other settings to click pictures like a professional. Other modes here include macro, portrait, hyperlapse, slow motion video and panorama. The camera app is very responsive when you open it. Switch between modes is also smooth and the camera loading time after clicking an image or recording a video is remarkably low. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Software" comment="subhead" text="Software">Software</cmsannotation> The Galaxy M52 5G comes with Samsung One UI 3.1 running on Android 11. The UI is very clean and offers plenty of customisation options. You can choose from plenty of widgets that can be added to your home screen. There are plenty of themes and wallpapers options that users can use to personalise the phone. Users can also change the layout of how apps will appear and how many apps will appear in each line. The phone comes with pre-installed applications that are both native and third-party apps like Moj, Daily Hunt, Byjus, Josh, Amazon and others. While you can delete most unwanted applications, you will not be able to delete system apps like the Clock, Calculator, Gallery and others that are needed for the smooth functioning of its software. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Verdict" comment="subhead" text="Verdict">Verdict</cmsannotation> The Samsung Galaxy M52 5G has seen a major upgrade from its predecessor. The display, performance and camera are all above-average. The phone does lack some places such as the missing 3.5mm jack, no stereo speakers for audio and mediocre macro lens. Most of these are not a deal breaker for many. So overall it's a fairly good deal for the price and it gets better if you can get it during a sale. However, you should note that there are plenty of other options from its competitors, such as the OnePlus Nord 2 , Mi 11X and Realme X7 Max . While the OnePlus Nord 2 and the Realme X7 Max have the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset, the Mi 11X has the Snapdragon 870 which are slightly more efficient than the Snapdragon 778G chipset used in the Galaxy M52, the battery life is better on M52, it's the lightest among its competitors and also offers same, if not better, camera performance than its competitors. While after two years, the premium QLED TVs are still a great deal for the price, the company decided to follow up with budget variants for a wider consumer base. The latest in the portfolio is its U-series TVs that don't use the QLED panels but is a value offering for those who are ok to have an IPS LED panel in bigger size and lesser price, which is usual in this segment. I have been using the 65-inch U1S TV for over four months which is a fair amount of time to find out whether it's a safe investment or not as it’s been used for over a hundred hours. It has received a handful of software updates refining the user experience over time, and some initial bugs have also been fixed. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Price and competition" comment="subhead" text="Price and competition">Price and competition</cmsannotation> If you're looking to buy a 65-inch TV, you must read this review because this TV might save you some money. The OnePlus U1S 65-inch retails at ₹66,999, and its counterparts from Sony, LG and Samsung cost between ₹90,000-1,00,000, while brands like Xiaomi, HiSense and others are priced similarly. The Redmi X65 4K LED TV comes closest to taking on the U1S at ₹60,000. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="OnePlus U1S display performance" comment="subhead" text="OnePlus U1S display performance">OnePlus U1S display performance</cmsannotation> The U1S, as mentioned, has an IPS panel with 4K resolution and supports HDR 10, HDR 10+ but no Dolby Vision. The picture quality on the panel is splendid regardless of the low cost and the panel type. You can't compare it to more expensive counterparts having OLED or QLED but the colour accuracy and tones look very close to natural in both HDR and SDR content. Even more impressive is that the blacks look great, which is an uncommon trait on IPS panels and the same goes for the viewing angles and dark scenes. It's been a go-to screen for me for quite some time for dozens of shows and movies that came out during the course. The HDR performance of the TV is quite impressive for the price but it falls short in some areas compared to slightly premium competitors from Philips and Vu which are priced around 80K, and at that price, the best bet is to go for the 55-inch OnePlus Q1 Pro. While there's no Dolby Vision support, the HDR 10 and 10+ does enhance the results for HDR content if supported. The colour reproduction and tones, sharpness and brightness are very impressive. Even for SDR content, the quality was at par with the best in this range, it shows evenly saturated colour tones and crisp details with ample brightness. There's also an option to change picture modes and other settings like brightness, warmth etc to suit your preference. But of all the modes, we liked the 'Movie' the best for watching shows and movies. It also upscales regular 24fps and 30fps content to 60fps without showing any sign of stutter with the help of MEMC. It's great to watch fast-moving content like sports and even movies that support a higher refresh rate. I did not notice any banding or clouding issue, which used to be a common trait on LED panels, but this one does a great job in that department. I would recommend you to keep the TV in a position where there's no light source on the opposite sides as you might see the reflection on the screen in dark scenes. Even with the peak brightness, the issue sustains and it can be seen in the pictures I took of the TV. If you're a gamer with any of the new consoles with support for high refresh rate at 4K resolution, this TV can do a fair job for gaming as well. it supports HDMI 2.1 with Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) which turns on as soon as you plug your console. I used my PS5 to play some new titles like Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Ghost of Tsushima and some multiplayer games like Fifa 21, and Rocket League and I didn't find a reason to complain unless your expectations are supremely high. It handles 60fps well, has great black levels and doesn't miss a single particle effect. Ghosts of Tsushima is a visual treat in itself and the TV doesn't upset in showing the beautiful horizons in their full glory. Details like the blowing wind, greenery, water and even combat sequences look great. Overall, this TV is tuned well for content ranging from animated cartoons to dark DC movies. Not only that, but gamers can also resort to this one if OLED and QLEDs are out of budget and the size matters more than the picture quality. Overall, the TV has a good panel for content consumption and gaming and this is where the praises for the TV come to an end as we will now venture into areas that have some issues that could affect your purchase decision. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Audio performance" comment="subhead" text="Audio performance">Audio performance</cmsannotation> As soon as I set up this TV, I went to YouTube to check the audio and I was a little disappointed. Not that I enjoy the audio now, but software updates over the months has improved the audio performance by a thick margin. The TV also supports Dolby Atmos, which means you can attach a supported soundbar or speaker if you wish to experience the best of what it has to offer. <div type="image" title="OnePlus TV Audio." msid="87667218" hostid="261"></div>The TV's audio is tuned in collaboration with Dynaudio and has two bottom-firing speaker units with 30W output. I am not a fan of built-in speakers on affordable TVs as the content nowadays is made for bigger and better speakers just like the screens. While the U1S does a fair job at voice clarity, loudness and definition, the bass response leaves you asking for more. You won't have the best experience watching a movie or even listening to a song unless you connect it to an external speaker. It's good enough for family members who watch daily soaps, cartoons, podcasts, news or even for gaming. So, investing in an external speaker is suggested only if you wish the get a theatre-like movie watching experience at home. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="User Interface and performance" comment="subhead" text="User Interface and performance">User Interface and performance</cmsannotation> Like all OnePlus TVs, the U1S also comes with Android TV 10 with a layer of OxygenPlay on top. It's a hybrid OS, which means you can operate in either of the two with a click of a button, which is a good addition as a preferential alternative. It offers tons of customisation options, modes and features but thankfully it doesn't make the interface look cluttered or ugly. Even kids and first time smart TV users can navigate through with ease. It offers multiple casting options like Miracast, Chromecast, and DLNA. There's also a seamless Google Assistant support that is accurate and fast, but at times it wakes up even when there's an 'Ok Google' advertisement on the TV. <div type="image" title="OnePlus TV UI." msid="87667205" hostid="261"></div>Other impressive features include the data saver mode, parental control using Connect app, and also screentime monitoring. The OnePlus Connect app not just acts as a remote control but also to play media using the phone. Lastly, the ecosystem that OnePlus is building with its accessories is also promising for the future. For example, those who own a OnePlus Watch can use it as a remote control, also the TV detects the TWS buds and enables quick pair when it's around the TV. However, we expect it to be more intuitive and seamless to call it a valuable addition to the overall experience. Especially, when they're restricted to OnePlus products that might not be the best investment for a user. The performance of the U1S is one area where the affordability of the TV becomes evident. While it did work smoothly initially, it did not keep it consistent over the past three months. It has a Mediatek MT9612 SoC with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Instances like switching between OxygenPlay and Android, opening apps like Netflix or Amazon Prime wasn't seamless as it stutters in between the process occasionally. The hiccups and lags are seen across the UI and more specifically in third party apps even those which come preinstalled. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Design, build and connectivity" comment="subhead" text="Design, build and connectivity">Design, build and connectivity</cmsannotation> The <keyword id="11344674" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="oneplus-tv-u1s" source="Orion">OnePlus TV U1S</keyword> comes with tabletop feet and wall mount options, but I chose the former in my usage. Like most large-sized thin TVs this one also wobbles, but the feet are of metal and hold it sturdily so it won't fall off unless it's pushed with force. Also, the feet are placed widely unlike some TVs that have the stand in the centre, which means you'll need to have a big TV stand to place it. <div type="image" title="OnePlus TV Stand." msid="87667311" hostid="261"></div> The build quality is at par with my expectations at this price and also the standard. The bezels are minimal, the ports are convenient to reach. It has 3 HDMI ports, 2 USB ports, an RF port, an AV port and an optical port. It also supports dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. <div type="image" title="OnePlus TV bezel." msid="87667259" hostid="261"></div>In terms of dimensions, ‎it is 21.2 x 88.8 x 144.8 cm and weighs 18.3 kg. The remote control has a new design, a better build quality and is very ergonomic to use. The power buttons remain embedded in the OnePlus button, which does confuse anyone who uses the TV for the first time, but it's not a deal-breaker.
