<ul><li>The <keyword id="6354335" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="reserve-bank-of-india" source="Orion">Reserve Bank of India</keyword> has announced that it is working on a dedicated cloud facility.</li><li>The cloud facility is being developed for the country’s financial sector.</li><li>The new facility is aimed at enhancing data security and privacy.</li></ul>India’s central bank, the <keyword id="50847" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="reserve-bank" source="Orion">Reserve Bank</keyword> of India (<keyword id="30067" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="rbi" source="Orion">RBI</keyword>) is working on a dedicated cloud facility for the booming financial sector in India. This was announced by RBI governor <keyword id="6359111" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="shaktikanta-das" source="Orion">Shaktikanta Das</keyword> during the central bank’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) announcement. The cloud facility is aimed at enhancing data security and privacy. It will also offer better scalability and ensure business continuity for companies. "Banks and financial entities are maintaining an ever-increasing volume of data. Many of them are utilising the cloud facilities for this purpose. The Reserve Bank is working on establishing a cloud facility for the financial sector in India for this purpose,” said Das. Its purpose is to help smaller entities build efficiencies in terms of scale, explained Rabi Sankar, deputy governor of RBI at the post-monetary policy press conference. The cloud facility will be set up in a phased manner in the medium term. It will be initially operated by Indian Financial Technology &amp; Allied Services (IFTAS), which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the RBI. The facility will later be transferred to a different entity, owned by companies from the country’s financial sector. There is a growing need for improved data security as there has been a steady increase in digital transactions in the country. The setting up of this cloud facility will help startups and small enterprises handle data efficiently, probably at a reduced cost compared to existing international options available. RBI MPC has decided to keep key rates unchanged at 6.5% in its December policy. Other announcements from the meet include enhancements to limits for specific categories of transactions for Unified Payments Interface (<keyword id="6358921" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="upi" source="Orion">UPI</keyword>). As per the new UPI transaction limits, individuals can now make payments up to ₹5 lakh per day to hospitals and educational institutions by UPI. This was earlier capped at ₹1 lakh. The central bank has also proposed to increase the e-mandate for recurring payments to ₹1 lakh from current ₹15,000. India’s central bank to establish cloud facility for financial institutions

The Cabinet resolved that those who tested positive would be put in home quarantine with home isolation kits and it was decided to keep 10 lakh home isolation kits ready for the purpose. Urging the people not to get anxious about the virus and rush toprivate hospitals, the cabinet said government hospitals were equipped with all facilities, medicines, expert doctors and the patients should utilise these services. "The Cabinet also made it clear that the government is ready to spend any amount of money to ensure medicines, equipment and facilities in the government hospitals," it said. The government decided to make available to the needy, in all the government hospitals, the availability of Remdesivir, Low Molecular weight Heparin, Dexamethasone injections, Favipiravir tablets, other medicines, PPE Kits and testing kits abundantly. Telangana Health Minister Etela Rajender and Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar will conduct a videoconference on Thursday with the Collectors and find out their requirements for their respective districts and take necessary decisions. Telangana to conduct 40,000 COVID-19 tests daily

<ul><li>Favipiravir has demonstrated positive clinical outcomes in some trials and has already been approved for use to treat Covid-19 in Russia and parts of the Middle East. </li><li>Sun Pharmaceutical on August 4 announced the launch of Favipiravir, under brand name FluGuard, at ₹35 per tablet for the treatment of mild to moderate cases of Covid-19 in India. </li><li>Whereas, Hyderabad-based Zenara Pharma on August 5 announced that it has received approval from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) to manufacture and sell Favipiravir tablets to treat coronavirus. </li></ul>After Glenmark and Cipla, two more Indian pharma companies — Sun Pharmaceuticals and Zendara Pharma — said they are manufacturing Favipiravir in the country to treat coronavirus. Favipiravir was originally developed to treat novel influenza in Japan and was sold by different manufacturers under the name Avigan, Abigan and Fabiflu. The recoveries exceeded active cases of the <keyword id="1754604" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="coronavirus">coronavirus</keyword> infection by 7,32,835, it stated. "The recovery rate has continued its upward journey to reach another record high of 67.62 pre cent amongst COVID-19 patients," the ministry said. Under the "whole-of-government approach", the public and private sector resources are combined towards the COVID-19 response and management under the Centre-led strategy. Focused implementation of 'test, track, treat' strategy by the Union and state and Union Territory governments, ramped up hospital infrastructure and testing facilities, and emphasis on treatment of the hospitalised patients through the standard of care protocol advised by the Centre have effectively ensured that mortality of COVID-19 patients is contained, the ministry said. "As a result, the case fatality rate (CFR) has been low when compared to the global scenario and it has been progressively falling. It stands at 2.07 per cent today," it said. India saw a single-day spike of 56,282 cases, taking the country's COVID-19 tally to 19,64,536, while the death toll due to COVID-19 climbed to 40,699 with 904 new fatalities being reported in 24-hour span, data updated at 8 am showed.
