BillMe, established in 2018, has introduced innovations aimed at reducing the reliance on paper bills and enhancing the value proposition for merchants through digital invoicing solutions. The startup has a clientele of over 4,000 businesses, overseeing more than 15,000 retail point-of-sale (POS) systems. In August 2022, it acquired Ezetap, an offline POS company that was founded with the aim to simplify the in-person offline payments experience. Prior to that, the company acquired Pune's fintech startup IZealiant Technologies, which offers payment technology solutions tailored for banks. BillMe's rapid deployment and integration capabilities allow businesses to adopt digital invoicing in under 10 minutes, simplifying the process and requiring minimal tech expertise. Dashboards will empower merchants to analyse customer behaviour, set custom campaign rules, and facilitate cross-sales, promotions, video embeds, banner ads, and more. Customers will benefit from a streamlined, efficient checkout process without concerns about storing or retrieving physical bills, addressing issues for both customers and merchants. Leading fintech player <keyword id="2777173" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="razorpay" source="Orion">Razorpay</keyword> on Tuesday announced its first international expansion with the acquisition of a majority stake in <keyword id="13127382" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="curlec" source="Orion">Curlec</keyword>, a leading Malaysian fintech startup, for an undisclosed sum. E-commerce is booming in Malaysia with an estimated market size of $21 billion in 2021 and is poised to grow further to over $35 billion by 2025. Razorpay said that with acquiring Curlec, it will further unveil new channels for global business expansion for online businesses based in India and Malaysia. "With the vast experience in a heterogenous market like India over the last seven years, our expansion to the Southeast Asia payments market is timed exactly to coincide with the company's growing dominance in all things payments," said Harshil Mathur, CEO and Co-Founder, Razorpay. Curlec was founded by Zac Liew and Steve Kucia in 2018. The company builds new-age technology solutions on top of existing payments infrastructure, to make it easier for companies of all sizes, to collect recurring payments and take control of their cash flows. Initially backed by 500 global and other investors, the company's annual revenue has been growing at nearly 5X since 2018. "We look forward to the next phase of our journey and scaling together across Malaysia and Southeast Asia," said Liew. Razorpay goes global, acquires Malaysian fintech startup Curlec

The acquisition of Pune-based IZealiant, the fifth by Razorpay to date, will strengthen its banking solutions arm that builds innovative tech solutions for banks, the company said in a statement. Founded in 2015, IZealiant provides mobile-first, API-enabled, and cloud-ready payment processing products for banks and financial institutions. "The team at IZealiant has extensive experience in developing and implementing complex, high-performance acquiring and issuing systems and I am confident that together we will be able to build industry-first solutions for the banks in India," said Harshil Mathur, CEO and Co-founder of Razorpay. Working closely with over 45 banks in India, Razorpay's banking team has been part of several critical projects including the Razorpay TokenHQ -- India's first multi-network RBI compliant card tokenisation solution, and MandateHQ -- the API-based, plug-n-play recurring payments interface for banks. On the other hand, IZealiant has deployed its 'ZealPro' product suite for more than 50 banks across 18 countries, processing millions of transactions including in India, South Africa, Nepal, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Singapore, Uganda, among many others. "The timing couldn't have been better as financial institutions are increasingly looking to adopt advanced, flexible, and secure solutions to meet ever-evolving customer needs," said Prashant Mengawade, CEO, IZealiant. Razorpay buys a Pune-based startup to strengthen its banking segment, its fifth acquisition so far

Fintech services platform Razorpay on Thursday announced it has acquired offline payments services provider <keyword id="6519244" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="ezetap" source="Orion">Ezetap</keyword>, becoming one of the few companies globally with a significant online and offline presence in payments. According to sources, the deal size is around $150-200 million. This marks Razorpay's sixth and biggest acquisition to date. The <keyword id="14747570" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ezetap-team" source="Orion">Ezetap Team</keyword> of around 300 employees will join Razorpay and work as an independent business unit. "We believe that the businesses of tomorrow will not distinguish between physical and digital channels and will expect a unified payment experience through a single integrated platform," said Harshil Mathur, CEO and Co-founder, Razorpay. Ezetap provides software for financial technologies, including point of sales (POS) solutions, billing, loyalty solutions among others, enablingAbusinesses to accept payments in-store and on-delivery. It currently serves over 500,000 touchpoints, including <keyword id="18635" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="amazon" source="Orion">Amazon</keyword> and BigBasket, and works closely with banks like <keyword id="13222" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="sbi" source="Orion">SBI</keyword>, <keyword id="45123" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="hdfc" source="Orion">HDFC</keyword>, ICICI and Axis, among others, processing over $10 billion in annual transactions on its platform. Fintech services platform Razorpay acquires offline payments firm Ezetap

The startup boom in <keyword id="3658" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword>, which some say peeked in 2015, is still looked at as the key to innovation and entrepreneurship in the country. Analysing these <keyword id="6362513" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="startups">startups</keyword>, <keyword id="28120" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Linkedin">LinkedIn</keyword> published the 2018 LinkedIn Top Startups List for India. The world’s largest professional network looked at actions taken by more than 50 million professionals on the site and came up with a list of the 25 most attractive startups where people want to work. <keyword id="2808667" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="OYO">OYO</keyword>, India’s largest hospitality company, tops the list. Their aggressive expansion plan has led them into Malaysia, China and the UK in just the last 9 months. Currently the company is in conversation to raise $1 billion which will bring its total valuation to over $4 billion. The health and wellness startup, <keyword id="4506924" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="cure-fit">Cure.fit</keyword> came in second, which isn’t really a surprise considering they offer their employees unlimited leave, fixed increments every six months and a concierge service for personal tasks. It’s followed by <keyword id="6890164" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="dunzo-in">Dunzo.in</keyword>, a concierge services venture, in third place. That being said, Dunzo.in isn’t pan-India yet and only has services available in Pune, Bangalore and Gurgaon.  Unicorn club Other than OYO, Rivigo and Udaan.com are two other startups on the list that are near unicorn status. Rivigo, a logistics startup, is almost at $1 billion after recently raising an additional $50 million in funds. Udaan.com is leading the pack, according to the report, with it being valued at over $ 1 billion after its round of September fundraising. Employee engagement matters Some of the startups on the list have made it there because they recognise that it’s important for employees to feel a sense of ownership. For instance, OYO ensures that all new hires are exposed to actual business problems from their first day at work so that they understand their responsibility and accountability. Razorpay, on the other hand, has a unique regulation where every team member has to take fours hours of customer support calls, regardless of seniority or role. Other companies employ innovative appraisal methods instead. Jumbotail, for example, flouts the norm by giving 80% weightage to peer feedback and only 20% to manager feedback while looking at annual reviews. The startups on this list have been measured across four pillars - employment growth, engagement, job interest and top talent. While a lot of disruptive and new startups made it to the list, older names like Flipkart, Swiggy and BigBasket are missing.
