Mumbai: Superstar <keyword id="1671" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="shah-rukh-khan" source="Orion">Shah Rukh Khan</keyword> on Tuesday teased his friend and filmmaker <keyword id="19973215" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="karan" source="keywords">Karan</keyword> Johar for hosting more chat shows and directing lesser films. <keyword id="19900227" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shah-rukh" source="keywords">Shah Rukh</keyword> and Karan, who are set to host the International Indian Film Academy (<keyword id="22515764" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="iifa" source="keywords">IIFA</keyword>) Awards 2024, have worked together in several hit movies such as "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai", "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham...", "My Name is Khan", and "Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna". At the press conference of the IIFA Awards, Shah Rukh pulled Karan's leg for being less active on the directorial front. "He hosts chat shows, film shows. Picturein bhi toh bana mere bhai (When are you going to make films, my brother?)" said the superstar, eliciting laughter from the filmmaker. Karan, whose last directorial was 2023's "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani", admitted Shah Rukh was right. "This is sounding so wrong on so many levels for a filmmaker. That I should be making movies. The "Pathaan" star, who is returning to the IIFA stage as a host after almost a decade, said he wanted to present all editions of the awards show but the dates didn't match. "IIFA is being hosted all around the world, which makes us very proud. While many believe that OTTs and their convenience, especially during the covid pandemic, could leave theatre seats empty, actor and producer <keyword id="84792" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rana-Daggubati">Rana Daggubati</keyword> believes that the theatres aren't going anywhere. As a man who dons hats from both sides – an actor and producer, his family also owns one of the biggest and oldest production houses in South India, Daggubati said the two platforms are different and will co-exist. Speaking at the Business Insider Global Trends Festival 2020, Daggubati said that as humans we come from a generation of spectacle and the theatre will continue to be there as a place where you want to see the world in a very large format and be immersed. “Today, theatre technology, whether its 3D or IMAX has also become more immersive,” he said. Daggubati breaks it down for us and says it’s the content that will decide which platform it will go to. “Cinema that is made specifically for the theatre will continue to exist within a limited time – for two-three hours and any drama which is driven towards a longer storytelling, the OTT will be the way to go,” he said. And it will all be on the hands of the consumer. “You’ll be very defined even as a consumer what you go to the theatre for and what you would consume on OTT,” he said. India’s entertainment industry and the influence of OTT Despite the pandemic, a recent report by PwC said that the Indian Entertainment and Media Industry is expected to grow at 10.1% CAGR to reach $55 billion by 2024. The COVID pandemic kept theatres in India shut for over six months, and after the initial resistance from OTT releases, big Bollywood names started to make their way to platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+ Hotstar. And even though theatres have opened up across the country, no major release has been released in the cinemas yet as people still seem to be skeptical of visiting them. And this has led to a jump in consumption and number of subscribers in the Indian OTT space. According to the PwC report, India’s OTT market is on track to become the sixth largest in the world beating the OTT revenue from countries like South Korea, Germany and Australia. “Subscription video on demand will be the prime driver of revenue, increasing at a 30.7% CAGR from $708 million in 2019 to $2.7 billion in 2024,” said the report..

Nestled in the city of Hyderabad, is a mythological learning centre that takes one back to those memories. And at the helm of it is South Indian superstar Rana Daggubati. Daggubati, who brought the world to his notice with his role as the villain in SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus <keyword id="6354370" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="baahubali">Baahubali</keyword>, has partnered with Future Group and Amar Chitra Katha to bring about Amar Chitra Katha Alive - a state-of-the-art learning centre spread over 10,000 square feet for art and design, life skills, performing arts and vedic science and ethics. Daggubati claims it's not just another summer school. The ACK Alive centre offers over 64 courses – a modern take on Indian Gods Krishna and Balarama who studied life skills in just 64 days, he said. The courses range from simple courses like Photography, Creative Writing and Theatre to ones like Vedic Mathematics, Tarot reading and even Kalaripayattu – an Indian martial art that originated in Kerala. “The centre offers an all age group learning. You can come at any age or any time of your convenience and pick up a program that you like,” Rana Daggubati told Business Insider. Daggubati who has been involved in mythological movies like Baahubali, realised that there was no brand holding together all the stories that India’s mythology together like Amar Chitra Katha did. Talking about how the partnership happened, he said, “I was actually working on a different project with the Future Group and was then introduced to the idea of the Amar Chitra Katha learning centre.” While the centre was initially supposed to be built in Mumbai, Daggubati, who is now a director at Amar Chitra Katha, brought it to Hyderabad. Why? Better real estate options, of course! “Mumbai was the first option but we wanted to build something of scale. A centre which can have at least 250 people learning at the same time – in Mumbai it would be too expensive. Meanwhile, Hyderabad has an audience which still has great respect for ACK and still has a large readership too,” said Daggubati. The bringing about of ACK Alive also had a personal connection with Daggubati. The centre is today built on Daggubati’s previous office space. “Converting my previous office into a learning centre was quite emotional as this is where I learnt everything I know,” he said. At ACK Alive, Daggubati himself will be enrolling for a Vedic Mathematics course. The curated courses have seen a great response too, with over 200 families coming over in the first few days of its launch. While there are free classes going on until April 15th, many have already registered. This Baahubali star has a 10,000 square feet space to experience robotics, maths, and mythology

Just when we thought that we have seen every wonder that south Indian movies are capable of doing, we are proved wrong and that too in less than two minutes. 
 The trailer of <keyword id="6354370" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="baahubali">Baahubali</keyword>, which happens to be India’s most expensive movie ever takes us to lush green mountains in the first part, and to an epic battle field in the latter part, leaving us wanting for more. 
 Showing the leading men <keyword id="2880171" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="prabhas-verma">Prabhas Verma</keyword> and <keyword id="84792" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rana-Daggubati">Rana Daggubati</keyword> in the roles of warriors, the trailer has certainly set the expectations high for the movie, the first part of which would be releasing on July 10. 
 The movie is directed by S.S. Rajamouli and produced by K. Raghavendra Rao, Shobu Yarlagadda and <keyword id="2880240" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Prasad-Devineni">Prasad Devineni</keyword>. It has been made in Tamil and Telugu, and would be dubbed in Hindi, English, Malyalam and French.
