To ease rush at booking counters, the railways is mulling introducing booking of unreserved railway tickets on e-wallets like PayTM, JioMoney and <keyword id="15491" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Airtel">Airtel</keyword> Money. 
 
According to agency, the move is also expected to help scale up paperless mobile ticketing operation across the country in a big way. 
 Unreserved ticketing forms a huge chunk of the railways' total ticket sale in a day and "we want to tap this sector through e-commerce", a senior <keyword id="54441" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Railway-ministry">Railway Ministry</keyword> official told the agency. 
 
The railways will not have to bear any cost for the facility. Instead, the public transporter is expected to earn from the selected e-wallet players commission on each ticket sold and retainer fees. 
 
Many top mobile wallet companies are keen on joining the railways, the official said, adding talks were on to finalise the modalities. 
 
Since these e-wallets are already operational for booking taxis, cinema tickets and other services, joining the railways will offer a big scope for these private players. 
 
The move is a win-win proposition for both the railways and the mobile wallet companies, the official said. 
 
The railways carry total 23 million passengers in a day, of which only six per cent is in reserved category and the rest are in unreserved segment which includes daily commuters. 
 
At present, mobile ticketing options are available in a few suburban sections including Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi-Palwal. 
 
However, despite the huge scope in unreserved ticketing sector, the use of railway wallet for mobile ticketing did not elicit as good response as expected. 
 
According to the railways, the use of e-wallets like PayTM in the unreserved ticketing system is expected to boost the paperless mobile ticketing operation. 
 
While the current mobile ticketing requires geo-fencing of certain area to prevent malpractices, there is no need for such measures with these e-wallets. 
 
Discussions are on with these players for making the operation foolproof with bar-coding system as more than one crore tickets are sold daily through unreserved ticketing system, said the official. 
 
Moving ahead with the 'Digital India' mission, the railways expect to make the e-wallet system operational across the country early next year.

Hyderabad, Nov 24 (IANS) Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao announced that the state government is ready to administer the "scientifically approved vaccine" for Covid-19 to the people. He felt that it should be verified whether the vaccine has any side effects before its administration. Rao expressed the opinion during a videoconference meet which Prime Minister Narendra Modi held with all the Chief Ministers to discuss the method pertaining to distribution and administering of the vaccine to people. "People are eagerly waiting for the vaccine. A scientifically approved vaccine is need of the hour. The Telangana state government is ready to distribute and administer the vaccine to people on a priority basis. Accordingly, we have drawn an action plan. However, one has to take into consideration whether the vaccine has any side effects," said KCR, as the Chief Minister is popularly known. "There are different weather and climatic conditions in the country. Coronavirus also did not affect the country in a uniform manner. Vaccine too may give different side effects in different regions," he said. KCR suggested that initially a batch of vaccine doses be sent to the states, which can be administered to some people. "Let us assess the situation after administering vaccine on these people and then administer it to the rest," he added. After the videoconference, he held a meeting with the officials and directed them to prepare an action plan to administer the vaccine in the State and also instructed them to create the required infrastructure facilities. KCR also instructed the officials to put in place cold chain all over the state. He said committees should be formed at the state, district and Mandal level to conduct the vaccination programme. He said the vaccine should be given first to the Covid warriors and frontline workers like the police and other departments, people above 60 years of age and those people suffering from acute diseases. He asked them to prepare a list. Telangana ready to administer Covid vaccine: KCR to PM

New Delhi, Mar 15 () After almost a three-year gap, the Banks Board Bureau, the headhunter for state-run banks and financial institutions, has been able to find a suitable candidate to head India Infrastructure Finance Company (IIFCL). The BBB, headed by former Secretary Department of Personnel and Training B P Sharma, has zeroed in on P R Jaishankar, the executive director at National Housing Bank, for the post of managing director of IIFCL. The post has been lying vacant since June 13, 2017. The chairman and members of the Banks Board Bureau interviewed various candidates on March 14, 2020, and it recommended Jaishankar's name for the MD position, the Bureau said in a statement. It took three attempts to find a suitable candidate for the post of MD and CEO of IIFCL. According to sources, Jaishankar has been facing interview since 2017 when the government had first invited application for the job. He was then chief general manager with IIFCL. No one was found suitable from among the list of applicants in 2017. Subsequently, another failed attempt was made 2018. The government-appointed panel in March 2019 interviewed candidates for the post but did not find any one suitable to lead the organisation. The government for the third time invited applications in May last year, which reached its logical conclusion. The Bureau interfaced with 19 candidates from various public and private organisations on March 14, 2020 for two vacancies of deputy managing director (DMD) in EXIM Bank; one vacancy of DMD in SIDBI, IFCI Ltd and IIFCL each besides the vacancy of MD in IIFCL, it said. Keeping in view their performance in the interface and their overall experience, it said, the Bureau recommends Lekhan Thakkar for the vacancy of DMDs in EXIM Bank (vacancy arose on 16.08.2017) and Harsha Bangari (vacancy arose on 21.07.2019) while N Ramesh and Sudatta Mandal as the candidate on the Reserve List respectively. It has recommended Sunil Kumar Bansal for DMD in IFCI, Pawan Kumar for DMD in IIFCL and V S V Rao for the DMD in SIDBI. The decision on the appointment will be taken by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister, in 2016, approved the constitution of BBB as a body of eminent professionals and officials to make recommendations for appointment of whole-time directors as well as non-executive chairpersons of public sector banks (PSBs) and state-owned financial institutions. It was also entrusted with the task of engaging with the board of directors of all PSBs to formulate appropriate strategies for their growth and development. Besides, it was asked to frame a strategy discussion on consolidation based on the requirement. BJP has managed to win 8 seats while INC could manage to win only 1 seat. Odisha has 21 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state. Navin Patnaik’s BJD (Biju Janata Dal) is fighting from all these constituencies of Odisha for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The Chanakya exit polls prediction for 2019 Lok Sabha elections forecast 7 seats for the BJD for the parliament out of the 21 seats. CVoter had predicted 11 seats for the party while India Today exit poll results said the party will bag only 4 seats from the state of Odisha. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJD got 20 out of 21 seats leaving the remaining 1 seat for the BJP. In 2009 Lok Sabha elections, the results saw BJD 14 seats from the state leaving 6 seats for INC and 1 seat for CPI. The key candidates who fought for BJD from Odisha are as follows. From Kalahandi seat, Pushpendra Singh Deo contested for the party. Chandrasekhar Sahu contested from Berhampur seat, from the Bargarh seat Prasanna Acharya has fought the elections. The sitting MPs Bhartruhari Mahtab and Pinaki Mishra contested from their winning constituencies Cuttack and Puri once again. MP Rabindra Kumar Jena fought once again from his winning constituency Balasore. NDTV’s exit poll predictions say the BJD is bound to win 11 seats in the state just one more seat than what is predicted for the BJP out of the 21 seats in the state. However, BJD is hopeful of repeating the thumping performance it showed during the assembly elections when it secured a two-third majority. The party hopes it can repeat the same performance and can get not less than 15 seats in the state in 2019 Lok Sabha elections once the results are announced. Navin Patnaik’s BJD is doing quite well in the state over the recent past as evident in the assembly elections and the results of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections will let us know if the outcome matches the forecasts.
