The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=ayodhya&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Ayodhya </a>dispute to yet to settle down but one thing is coming up for sure in the holy city-Ramayana museum. 
 
Yes, Hindu hardliner and newly appointed <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=yogi+adityanath&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath</a> did not surprise anyone with his move as he cleared 20 acres of land for construction of Ramayana museum in Ayodhya. The proposal had come up during previous<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=akhilesh+yadav&amp;sortorder=effectivedate"> Akhilesh </a><a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=akhilesh+yadav&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Yadav</a>-led UP government, but was rejected. 
 As per various reports, the Ramayana museum in Ayodhya will cost Rs 154 crore and will be a part of the <keyword id="980432" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ramayana-circuit">Ramayana Circuit</keyword> for which the Modi government has sanctioned Rs 225 crore, with Rs 151 crore exclusively for Ayodhya, which is the hub of the circuit. 
 
The move to build a museum also comes after the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=supreme+court&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Supreme Court</a> advised an out of court settlement for Ayodhya Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute. 
 
The Modi government had increased the Ramayana museum grant from Rs. 175 crore to Rs. 225 crore so that a state of the art museum can come up in the ancient town celebrated in Hindu epics as the seat of Lord Rama’s birthplace and kingdom. 
Sources told Times Now the formalities will be completed within the next seven to ten days. 
 
The Government is planning to complete the construction of the Ramayana museum within 18 months. 
 The decision to build the museum had triggered a fierce political battle then, with the <keyword id="6354265" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="samajwadi-party">Samajwadi Party</keyword> simultaneously announcing that it will construct a Ramlila Park in Ayodhya.

The politically charged town of <keyword id="6354931" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Ayodhya">Ayodhya</keyword> in Uttar Pradesh would have a state of-the-art Ram museum to promote <keyword id="6363500" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="ramayana">Ramayana</keyword>. <keyword id="6358079" type="POSITION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Tourism-Minister">Tourism Minister</keyword> <keyword id="210147" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Mahesh-Sharma">Mahesh Sharma</keyword> told the Economic Times that the <keyword id="6360789" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Modi-Government">Modi government</keyword> is coming up with the museum, which would be part of the proposed 'Ramayana circuit'. Fortunately, the ‘disputed site’, the reason for all the battles, would not be touched by the project. "This will be an exclusive museum which will be part of a larger holistic plan. The idea is to depict the mahima (grandeur) of <keyword id="353792" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Lord-Ram">Lord Ram</keyword> and Ramayana," Sharma said. "It is on high priority and the scale will depend on funds available. We will do this next year." The museum would be build on the model of the Swaminarayan <keyword id="76721" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Akshardham-Temple">Akshardham temple</keyword> in Delhi - which features a sound and light show, boat ride and a film on Swaminarayan - and house archaeological material related to the deity. 

	The minister said work would soon begin on the detailed project report. 
 

	In order to again turn Ayodhya into a major cultural hub, the Modi government plans to develop all sites related to Lord Ram in and around the town.. When asked about the political ramifications, the minister said that the museum may reach the state of completion in 2017, a time when UP elections are due. He added, "Tourism we can develop. We are not saying we are going to make a Ram mandir there."
 

	The tourism minister further stated that the government is already working on a chain of five circuits. "For every year we will declare a different circuit. Ramayana circuit will start with the centre somewhere in Ayodhya and Chitrakoot and definitely we go to Makohda in Basti, then Janaki kund in Unnao and nearby areas and places relevant to the life of Ram...that is our idea," he said. 
 

	The Centre would also host what it calls are cultural activities revolving around Ram and Ramayana at events abroad, including festivals and travel marts. According to officials of the Tourism Ministry, the government has already asked Uttar Pradesh to send a proposal for the project under the Centre's Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spirituality Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) scheme. 
 

	"We have requested the state government to develop the proposal under the PRASAD scheme. Cost estimates are open-ended as of now and depend on the outline and scale of the proposal. This is actually an inter-state project as well so we will talk to other states as well," Tourism Secretary Lalit Pawar said. Rakesh Tiwari, director-general of Archaeological Survey of India (<keyword id="46215" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="ASI">ASI</keyword>), said that discussions on the Ramayana circuit are still at a preliminary stage and the ASI would help the tourism ministry with all related inputs. 

	"We will help develop the circuit in whichever way the government asks us to. Cultural bodies are also going to be roped in to bring alive the folklore and legends associated with Ramayana," said Tiwari.

Not a temple, but a hi-tech Ram museum is coming up in Ayodhya

Kathmandu, Cinema halls across Kathmandu on Friday stopped the screening of '<keyword id="9776044" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="adipurush" source="Orion">Adipurush</keyword>', a day after Mayor Balen Shah warned that no Indian movie will be allowed in the Nepal capital if the film based on the Hindu epic <keyword id="6363500" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ramayana" source="Orion">Ramayana</keyword> does not correct the "mistake" about the birthplace of Sita. The <keyword id="17720608" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="nepal-film-union" source="Orion">Nepal Film Union</keyword> has urged all the cinema halls in Kathmandu to stop showing 'Adipurush' and urged theatres outside the capital to release it only after assessing the security situation. In a tweet on Thursday, the Mayor said that in 'Adipurush', it is mentioned that "Sita is the daughter of India". He added that until this mistake will not be corrected in India and Nepal, no Indian movie will be allowed to be shown within the Kathmandu metropolitan city limit. The film is written and directed by <keyword id="2236748" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="om-raut" source="Orion">Om Raut</keyword> and produced by T-Series and Retrophiles. Shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu languages, the film has courted controversy in India as well. In a statement, Nepal's QFX Cinemas said: "Keeping the security of our viewers, QFX is not going to show 'Adipurush'... We are waiting for the government's decision. As soon as this issue is resolved, we will issue another notice and apologise for the inconvenience to our viewers." Nepal's Censor Board also decided to hold back permission to the upcoming Indian epic mythological film, based on the Hindu epic "Ramayana", for the same reason. Sita was born in Nepal's Janakpur and Lord Rama came and married her, as per the Ramayana. Besides Mayor Balen Shah, some sister organisations of various political parties have also protested against the film and warned that they will not allow the screening until the filmmakers correct the mistakes regarding the birthplace of Sita. This is not the first time that Mayor Shah ratcheted up the nationalist planks. Mayor Shah on June 8 placed the map of Greater Nepal in his chamber to counter the Indian "Akhand Bharat" map placed in the new Parliament building. The best part was, they didn’t restrict themselves to characters or titles from either the west or from the region as there were publishers that sourced titles from all around the world. While the west was gobbling up names like <keyword id="25718" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="batman">Batman</keyword>, <keyword id="7435" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Superman">Superman</keyword>, <keyword id="112243" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="X-Men">X-Men</keyword>, <keyword id="319257" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="The-Avengers">The Avengers</keyword>, <keyword id="254726" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Justice-League">Justice League</keyword>, <keyword id="184711" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tarzan">Tarzan</keyword>, The <keyword id="46483" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Phantom">Phantom</keyword>, etc., children in India also had local heroes like Chacha Chaudhary, Nagraj, Doga, Bahadur and many more to choose from. But then what changed? There has to be a reason why there are so few young readers today. Most comic book slash graphic novels in India nowadays, target the 25 to 35 age group, which is a little uncommon when you compare it with the target audiences in Europe and America. One reason for this readership decline could be the advent of cable television and video games. Mainstream cable channels in India entered homes in the early to mid nineties, just when the comic book industry had reached its peak. And so did computer gaming. Suddenly, most children from middle class Indian families could (or in most cases, had to) make choices. This created a very unique dilemma for the comic book publishers in India. Their loyal readers were growing up and the next generation of children were simply not starving for <keyword id="4578" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="entertainment">entertainment</keyword>, at least not like their predecessors. It's like how the 90's grunge scene was hugely popular among the youth then, but today not too many new grunge bands are seen around, even though that 90's crowd (which has now aged) still swears by Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden and other bands. 
Liquid Comics, which was known as Virgin Comics back when it was launched in 2006, made some serious efforts to turn the Indian readers towards a grittier, serious and darker path of entertainment through its Shakti series. The core essence of the titles was to make the content appealing to a wider and more international audience while still retaining the series' Indianness. It had characters such as Devi (a modern day reincarnation of a goddess) and The Sadhu (a colonial period piece about an Englishman who was a reincarnated version of a warrior sage from the past). The themes dealt with subjects like reincarnation, spirituality and highly developed individual characterisation (think Neil Gaiman's Sandman). These were clearly not aimed at children, but at late teens and adults. 
There is also Holy Cow Entertainment which refurbished the story of Ramayana through the perspective of the much misunderstood Ravan. The ten-part comic series, called Ravanayan, is written by Vijayendra Mohanty from Delhi and illustrated by Mumbai-based Vivek Goel. What makes this story unique is its creativity to steer away from the traditional 'good against evil' formula. The reader is made to empathise with Ravana, a demon king, who is the main antagonist in Valmiki's original Ramayana, and they are told why he made the choices he did. This is something really progressive in India, where any alternative view to the traditional narrative has mostly been condemned by religious fundamentalists. 
Comics have usually been a gateway drug to the addictiveness that is reading, and its decline is hence more worrying. Somewhere after the nineties, when the age of Cartoon Network dawned upon India, the number of young readers spiralled down. There's also the changing face of parents today. Children in the 80's and 90's had parents and grandparents who told them stories of epics such as Ramayana, Mahabharata, etc. not today. This is where comic books can make a great impact for young readers. Titles like Chacha Chaudhary and Shaktimaan dropped the ball by being too preachy. That is something kids today can easily see through. The key to breaking through to them lies in original content and storytelling. Maybe Indian publishers can develop apps that let young readers read online versions of comic books on their mobile devices. Indian comic books have a lot to offer, but they should try harder to adapt to new technology to deliver.

She was doing a strict penance for several years only to see Lord Sriram. Finally Ram visited her and accepted her humble offerings. The hill got the name Sabarimala after this historical character. Holy bath with ghee is highly auspicious to the main deity The holy bath given to the main deity is called as Neiyyabhishekam. This is done with the ghee carried to the temple by the devotees who observe fasting and use emptied coconut shell to carry the ghee to the temple bundled in the same color cloth that the devotees wear during the 41 days austerity period before visiting the temple.

While some users felt "Ramayan" did not mete out fair treatment to its female characters, others felt the storyline champions women's empowerment. In the latest move, he has ordered closure of slaughter houses across the state, along with a <keyword id="4323477" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="ban-on-cow-smuggling">ban on cow smuggling</keyword>.

 The Bharatiya Janata Party (<keyword id="14666" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="BJP">BJP</keyword>) manifesto had mentioned all the illegal slaughter houses will be shut down, and there will be a blanket ban on all the mechanised slaughter houses.

Even though it couldn’t be ascertained as to what type of slaughter houses have been asked to be shut down by the CM, the ban on <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/With-Cow-Trafficking-And-Slaughtering-On-Rise-Mother-Cow-Struggles-For-Existence/articleshow/42632154.cms">cow smuggling</a> is being seen as a positive step keeping in mind the suffering that dairy-based industries had to go through. 
 In his election meetings, BJP Chief <keyword id="6355521" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amit-Shah">Amit Shah</keyword> had stressed upon party’s decision to ban all slaughter houses in UP once they <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/adityanaths-appointment-indicates-bjp-pursuing-hindutva-politics-opposition/articleshow/57714937.cms">come to power</a>.
