His supporters were seen singing and dancing to the drumbeats at his residence in Paraunkh near Kanpur. Kovind, who was nominated by the BJP-led <keyword id="105903" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="National-Democratic-Alliance">National Democratic Alliance</keyword>, received 7, 02, 644 votes and scored an easy win over the opposition's candidate Meira Kumar, a former Lok Sabha Speaker. Kovind won by 65.65% votes. Meira Kumar got 34.35% of votes. His successor President Pranab Mukherjee will demit office on July 25. Ram Nath Kovind was born on October 1, 1945 in Kanpur Dehat, UP. Kovind has been a member of <keyword id="48510" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rajya-Sabha">Rajya Sabha</keyword> from UP for two terms: 1994-2000 and 2000-2006. He is a Dalit leader and headed BJP's Scheduled Caste Morcha between 1999 and 2002. He has been working on various issues related to Dalit and Scheduled Castes, and has served in many committees.

It was President Ram Nath Kovind who took the lead as he inaugurated the proceedings for the new Parliament session. “ Large scale investments have been made to strengthen rural India. New Delhi, Jan 31 () President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday said fundamentals of the country's economy are strong and all out efforts are being made to make India a USD 5 trillion economy.
Addressing a joint sitting of the Parliament, the President said that foreign exchange reserves were at a record high and the FDI inflow was on the rise.
 "... government is committed to attaining the goal of making India
a USD 5 trillion economy. Towards this objective, government is
making efforts at all levels of the economy in consultation with all
stakeholders," he said. 
 In spite of global challenges, Kovind said the fundamentals of Indian economy are strong. "Our foreign exchange reserves have reached a historical high of over USD 450 billion," he added.

As the race to <keyword id="100736" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Raisina-Hills">Raisina Hills</keyword> approaches its finale on the July 17, Ipsos, the global market and opinion research specialists and InShorts conducted its proprietary Pulse of the Nation Poll to get in touch with the popular opinions surrounding the Presidential Elections. The poll witnessed the participation of 1,19,132 unique users. The results seemed to be clearly in the favor of former <keyword id="30033" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Bihar">Bihar</keyword> Governor, <keyword id="6354561" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Ram-Nath-Kovind">Ram Nath Kovind</keyword>, who won the popular vote with 71% in favor.  Key Findings: Polarity between the Genders on the choice of the President Although Ram <keyword id="3705711" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="nath-kovind">Nath Kovind</keyword> is leading with the majority of popular votes, it was interesting to witness the polarity between the preferences of the two common genders.  62% favors a Non-Political President Perhaps it’s time we witnessed more of scientists, educationists, or perhaps entrepreneurs as the Head of the Nation. While 62% Indians would like to have a President without a Political Background, 22% feels that the background doesn’t matter. However, 11% Indians are strictly against having a President from a non-political background, and the remaining 5% choose not to reveal their opinion. 40% Indians believe the post of President is Very Critical; 37% says it Doesn’t Matter India appeared divided on the role of the President. While 40% believe that the role is Very Critical, since the person is heading the nation, 37% view the Presidency as merely a symbolic post. Furthermore, 15% of Indians believe that the post should be abolished as it is a waste of taxpayer’s money, although 8% refrained from commenting.

 65% of voters aged between 18 to 30 years The survey was dominated by the age group of 18-30 years, constituting 65% of the sample size. Users aged between 31 to 45 years comprised 22% of the sample, with 7% of users aged between 46 to 60 years, 4% under 18 years and the remaining 2% over 60 years.

(Photo Source: twitter/@rashtrapatibhvn) <ul><li><keyword id="6356970" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="myanmar">Myanmar</keyword> has announced that they will provide a ‘visa-on-arrival’ to <keyword id="110519" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-tourists">Indian tourists</keyword> arriving through the international airports of Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay. </li><li>The Indian president Ram Nath Kovind is on a visit to Myanmar to discuss various bilateral and multilateral issues including ‘Act East’ policy, and ‘Neighbourhood First’ Policy. </li><li>Last September, the Indian government rolled out its updated policy that allowed free visas to Myanmar tourists. </li></ul>In a bid to foster people-to-people relationships between India and Myanmar, India’s president Ram Nath Kovind is on a state visit to the country. One early outcome from his visit has been a new travel policy introduced by Myanmar, making it easier for Indians to travel to the country. While discussing India’s ‘Act East’ policy and ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy, it was announced on Tuesday Myanmar will now provide ‘visa-on-arrival’ to Indian tourists. India’s president tweeted about the new policy, which will grant these visas to Indian travellers arriving through the international airports of Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay.

 Last September, the Indian government had rolled out visa-free policy for Myanmar tourists. The move was initiated after PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Myanmar, according to a Myanmar Times report. Adding to this, the president said that India’s Northeast region has welcomed and is starting to reap the privileges of ‘Land-border Crossing Agreement’ that was recently inferred. The agreement was <a href="https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/myanmar-to-grant-visa-on-arrival-to-indian-tourists-says-president-ram-nath-kovind-1961014">reportedly</a> signed in May this year, and was put into practice in August along with the inauguration of international entry-exit checkpoints at the Tamu-Moreh and the Rihkhawdar-Zokhawthar border.

 Even though, the number of Indian visitors to Myanmar is currently not significant, there is a wide scope of growth and expansion, U Naung Naung Han, general secretary of Union of Myanmar Travel Association <a href="https://www.mmtimes.com/news/government-relaxes-visa-rules-indian-travellers.html">reportedly</a> said. Myanmar’s Hotel and Tourism ministry recorded about <a href="https://www.mmtimes.com/news/government-relaxes-visa-rules-indian-travellers.html">41,197</a> Indian tourists last year, it noted. While the Indian Tourism Ministry noted that there was a <a href="https://www.mmtimes.com/news/government-relaxes-visa-rules-indian-travellers.html">10% increase</a> in Myanmar tourists after the new policies were rolled out.
