<keyword id="6358815" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tech" source="Orion">Tech</keyword> giant <keyword id="10387" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="microsoft" source="Orion">Microsoft</keyword> on Wednesday partnered with the <keyword id="3029683" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="union-ministry-of-skill-development" source="Orion">Union Ministry of Skill Development</keyword> and Entrepreneurship (<keyword id="2952126" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="msde" source="Orion">MSDE</keyword>), and Capacity Building Commission (CBC) to enhance the functional computer literacy of nearly 2.5 million civil servants of the <keyword id="6378065" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="central" source="Orion">Central</keyword> government.<br /><br />The project -- Capacity Building by MSDE in Microsoft Digital Productivity Skills -- will digitally empower them to provide efficient and effective citizen-centric services to the vulnerable and underprivileged sections of society.<br /><br />"Through this programme, we are aiming to empower central government employees on key digital skills and amplify the vision of Digital India," Ashutosh Chadha, <keyword id="231267" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="group-head" source="Orion">Group Head</keyword> and Director, Government Affairs, Microsoft India<br /><br />"This initiative will not only drive more productivity but will also enable ease of doing business with more digital solutions," Chadha added.<br /><br />Within the project, the training will include job roles such as Section Officers, Assistant Section Officers, Clerks, Upper Division Clerks, Lower Division Clerks, Under Secretaries, Deputy Secretaries, and equivalent officers at senior, junior and supporting levels in the central government entities.<br /><br />CBC has undertaken the capacity-building plans for the ministries of Defence, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Expenditure, Finance, Social Justice, Civil Aviation, Ports and Shipping, and Labour.<br /><br />As part of the collaboration, Microsoft will develop an online, self-paced learning course on Microsoft Office 365 digital productivity suite offerings for MSDE, enabling MSDE to provide digital skills training to the officials in central government ministries and departments.<br /><br />The courses will be created under two categories -- Beginners and Advanced courses of 12 hours duration each -- and the learners would be enabled with access to Advanced course after receiving the certificate of completion in the Beginners course.<br /><br />"Our aim is to develop citizen-friendly and business-friendly policies. Microsoft joins hands with MSDE, CBC to train 2.5 mn civil servants in India

<keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword> faced an acute talent demand-supply gap of 28 per cent in 2021 for jobs in new-age technologies amid the demand of nearly 1.5 lakh jobs in areas like 5G, Cloud computing, AI/Big Data analytics, IoT, mobile app development and robotic process automation, a new report showed on Wednesday.<br /><br />The talent <keyword id="1761478" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="demand-supply-gap" source="Orion">demand supply gap</keyword> will continue to widen with the advent of 5G and allied technologies rollout, according to the report by the <keyword id="1640349" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Telecom-Sector-Skill-Council" source="Orion">Telecom Sector Skill Council</keyword> (TSSC), as <keyword id="6354814" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Prime-Minister-Narendra-Modi" source="Orion">Prime Minister Narendra Modi</keyword> dedicated an indigenous 5G Test Bed, in the form of 5Gi, to the nation on Tuesday.<br /><br />"A deeper look at the technological changes, along with proper skilling, will prepare the workforce of the future. We hope to address policy issues like low penetration of broadband and the industry needs to proliferate at a CAGR of 30-40 per cent in order to create a phenomenal number of jobs," said <keyword id="12218680" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="K-Rajaraman" source="Orion">K. Rajaraman</keyword>, Secretary, <keyword id="58770" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Department-of-Telecommunication" source="Orion">Department of Telecommunication</keyword> (DoT).<br /><br />"TSSC should put in place a set of occupational categories such as rural broadband technician which can support the development of BharatNet in rural areas," he emphasised during the launch of the report.<br /><br />The telecom council plans to train 1 lakh people in the next three years and open 10 new Centres of Excellence across the country.<br /><br />"With original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) setting shop in India, they will need a plethora of job roles to set up their supply chain. We aim to aid the ecosystem with a world-class skilled workforce for 5G and its allied technologies," said Arvind Bali, CEO, TSSC.<br /><br />TSSC President Akhil Gupta (Vice Chairman, Bharti Group) said that they now plan to accelerate skilling initiatives to international regions and map the international workforce demand.<br /><br />"It is important to train the workforce to use these new technologies in a much more effective fashion. India is witnessing a 28% of talent crunch in the technology area, says report

New Delhi, Feb 7 () Agro-chemical firm Insecticides India on Friday posted a 47.8 per cent fall in consolidated net profit to Rs 8.90 crore for the quarter ended on December 31, 2019, mainly on account of decline in institutional sales and exports.<p>The company had clocked a net profit of Rs 17.05 crore during the December quarter of 2018-19, according to the BSE filing.</p><p> Although net income rose to Rs 263.63 crore during the third quarter of 2019-20 from Rs 216.59 crore in the year-ago period, but expenses remained higher in the said period.</p><p> The expenses for the quarter under review increased to Rs 252.13 crore from Rs 192.39 crore in the year-ago quarter, the filing added.</p><p> "The profitability for the quarter was impacted due to decline in institutional sales and exports and fair valuation of inventory in this environment further aggravated the situation," Insecticides India MD Rajesh Aggarwal said. </p><p> "However, on a year-to-date basis, our margins were less impacted, and we are hopeful that the profitability will improve going forward with recovery in prices is expected by end of next quarter," he noted.</p> Insecticides India has formulation facilities at Chopanki (Rajasthan), Samba and Udhampur (Jammu &amp; Kashmir) and Dahej (Gujarat). It also has two technical synthesis facilities at Chopanki and Dahej to manufacture technical grade chemicals.  LUX  RUJ

Insecticides India Q3 net profit falls 48 pc to Rs 9 cr

New Delhi, Dec 19 () Directorate General of Training has launched public electronic registries on relevant skilling information to ensure greater accessibility of information.
<p>These newly created digitally-accessible registries, created by DGT, will act as a single source of information of all skilling resources being provided by the government and allied private enterprise.
</p><p>They include information on training centres, courses, teachers, and students in the ecosystem. The aim is to provide accurate information to potential students, trainers and employers on the courses being offered by Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and the like.
</p><p>"Through these new electronic registries, third party organisations can easily access the skilling information through Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). The new applications enable easier dissemination of detailed information on the training centres, courses along with the contact details of the concerned authorities," a statement said.
</p><p>The information will be made available in different languages for easy access and a link has been created for registry on Bharat skills, a central repository for skills providing curriculum, course information and other relevant material like question banks and mock tests.
</p><p>"We have created these registries with machine readable data and open APIs to allow other organisations to also play a part in disseminating this information. Moreover, these organisations will be able to return feedback on the data, allowing us to crowd-source verification of data," Rajesh Aggarwal, Additional Secretary DGT said.

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>CNBC/ Heidi Guzman</span></p><p class="caption">Leda Braga, who recently launched Systematica Investments, is one of the hedge fund industry's few female managers.</p></div><p></p></div></div>Women make up about half of the world's workforce, but are far from parity in the worlds of venture capital, hedge funds, private equity and other Wall Street investing firms. </p><p>There are <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/this-is-why-hedge-funds-have-few-women-investing-for-them-2016-8">a lot of reasons for that:</a> a thin pipeline of candidates, biases, and lack of recruitment among them. What's certain is that it's not due to less aptitude for investing - some studies even show that female hedge fund managers outperform their male counterparts.</p><p>A new survey of 791 industry professionals released by KPMG outlines where progress is being made, and what needs to happen to close the gender gap.</p><p>First, some background. Here's KPMG:</p><ul><li>Women make up only 15% of hedge fund CEOs, 11% of private equity and venture capital CEOs, and 14% of real estate CEOs. For chief investment officers, those figures are 18%, 19% and 26% respectively.</li><li>79% of respondents, who were nearly all women, say it is more difficult for women fund managers to succeed in the industry than men. The overwhelming majority also said it's harder for women-owned or -managed funds to raise money.</li><li>44% said women are hindered by the stereotype that they are more committed to their personal lives/family than their work.</li><li>36% said women have less access to investor networks.</li><li>28% said women get less PR/visibility than men's funds.</li><li>29% of respondents said there's "weaker interest" in women owned/managed funds.</li></ul><p>"In alternatives, there are certain prototypical models of a fund manager: people with certain pedigrees and characteristics, physical and otherwise," PAAMCO's CEO Jane Buchan said in the KPMG report. "When someone conforms to that model, there's confirmation bias. However, if a fund manager is off-model-if, for example, they are a woman-as the research shows, they need to perform substantially better to get capital."</p><p>Indeed, some research shows that women managers outperform men but don't raise nearly as much money.</p><p>Here's KPMG on a 2016 study by Rajesh Aggarwal and Nicole Boyson of Northeastern University's D'Amore-McKim School of Business. The research looked at performance of nearly 9,520 hedge funds from 1994 to 2013. </p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">"The sixty-two surviving female run funds in the study had better returns and similar risk measures than their male-run peers (of which there were 1,669), but lagged male counterparts in several significant ways: the female funds had significantly less AUM ($150 million versus $222 million for male-run funds), lower management and incentive fees but longer tenure than their male-managed counterparts."</p><p>"Our data suggested no inherent differences in skills between male and female-run funds, but, in order to survive, women-run funds have to be better," Aggarwal, the study's co-author, told KPMG. "And even when they survive they don't have the same [assets under management]."</p><p>So how does one fix the gap? Defining the problem is half the battle. One issue is that female fund managers often say they have trouble raising money from investors, while investors say they have trouble finding women managers.</p><p>"That's the dichotomy of both sides of the coin," KPMG audit partner Kelly Rau, who helped organize the report, told Business Insider.</p><p><span></span><span>About six out of the ten investor respondents said they thought there was a lack of supply in women-run funds.</span></p><p><span>One of the issues is size. Women tend to run funds that manage less money, which means they have less resources for infrastructure which bigger investors require if they were to invest. About one in five investors cited that as a top barrier to invest in women.</span></p><p><span>"Women are saying it's harder for us to raise assets, but we're here, we're here," Rau said. Ten percent investor respondents now have specific mandates for women-owned/-managed funds, which KPMG called a "significant improvement" since their 2013 survey, in only two percent of investor respondents did.</p><p>"It's very encouraging," Kate Mitchell, co-founder of Scale Venture Partners, told KPMG. Women think it's harder for them to succeed on Wall Street - but there's some hope

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>There's something incredibly dodgy going on in a major Chinese stock - the price is going through the roof, but only in the last ten minutes of the day.</p><p><a href="http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/9e87ba44-d20e-11e4-a1a0-00144feab7de.html#axzz3VNTpMnj4">The amazing investigation into the Hanergy Thin Film Power Group comes from the Financial Times</a><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">, and couldn't sound any more suspicious.</span></p><p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">The firm is involved in thin film technology for solar power. It's a growing industry, but Hanergy's growth has been astonishingly rapid. It's made company chairman Li Hejun China's richest man, <a href="http://www.forbes.com/sites/russellflannery/2015/03/04/hanergy-stock-surge-upends-china-wealth-ranking-li-hejun-is-now-no-1/">according to Forbes.</a> </span></p><p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">But there are some issues.</span></p><p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">In short, the share price has surged in recent years, spiking by thousands of percent and turning any early investments in the firm into massive cash piles. But pretty much </span><em style="line-height: 1.5em;">all </em><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">of the increase has happened just before trading closes.</span></p><p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Here's the FT's Miles Johnson and Gavin Jackson explaining just how severe the end-of-day spike in shares is:</span></p><p style="padding-left: 30px;"><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">A Financial Times analysis of two years of trading data of Hanergy Thin Film stock - more than 800,000 individual trades on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange - shows that shares consistently surged late in the day, about 10 minutes before the exchange's close, from the start of 2013 until February this year...</span></p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">It means that an investor who held HTF shares from the start of trading at 9am to 3.30pm would have lost money - despite the company's share price rising by 1,168 per cent between January 2013 and February 9 2015.</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">A trader who bought HK$1,000 ($129) worth of HTF at 9am on every day of trading since January 2 2013 and sold those shares at 3.30pm each day, would have seen their money shrink to HK$635 by February 2015. But if they held on for just under half an hour more each time, the HK$1,000 would have turned into HK$8,430. This calculation does not include overnight gains.</p><p>Hanergy's explosion over recent years has been absolutely astonishing - the stock's value has risen by more than 1,800% since the beginning of January 2013 to now. </p><p>Here's how it looks:</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>When comparison to Hong Kong's Hang Seng index (on which Hanergy is not listed), the index is barely visible at all.</p><p>The FT spoke to several experts who discussed whether the spike at the end of a trading day was likely to be the work of manipulation, or there was some other explanation. Here's one example: </p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">Rajesh Aggarwal, professor of finance at Northeastern University in Boston and an expert on stock market manipulation cases, also reviewed the FT findings and raised the spectre of manipulation: "This is consistent with the stock price having been systematically manipulated over the past couple of years.
