He was 83. Bhardwaj breathed his last around 6.30 pm at Max Hospital, Saket, where he was admitted since Wednesday due to kidney-related ailments, his family told . The cremation will take place at <keyword id="8885939" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="nighambodh">Nighambodh</keyword> Ghat on Monday at 4 pm, his son Arun Bhardwaj said. He is survived by his wife, a son and two daughters. Bhardwaj celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary on February 29. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP leader and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury condoled Bhardwaj's death. "Anguished by the passing away of former minister Shri Hans Raj Bhardwaj," the Prime Minister's Office tweeted quoting Modi. "My thoughts are with his family and well-wishers in this hour of grief. Om Shanti," the tweet said. Prasad recalled his association with Bhardwaj in Parliament. "Deeply condole the sad demise of Shri Hansraj Bhardwaj who for long years served as the Law Minister of India. We were together in the Parliament. May his soul Rest In Peace," Prasad posted on Twitter. CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury remembered the leader as an "encyclopedia" on the Indian judicial system. "Sad news about Shri Hans Raj Bhardwaj ji's demise. Worked with him as an MP when he was a minister &amp; shared the urge to safeguard our constitutional values. He was an encyclopedia on the Indian judicial system. Will miss him," Yechury said in a tweet. Born in Garhi Sampla village in Rohtak district of Haryana, Bhardwaj was a Rajya Sabha member for five terms from April 1982 to June 2009. He was the law minister for 14 years and served under the prime ministership of Rajiv Gandhi, Narasimha Rao and <keyword id="6359397" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="manmohan-singh">Manmohan Singh</keyword>. During his stint as the governor of Karnataka between 2009 and 2014, he sternly dealt with the mining mafia active in the state. It was during Bhardwaj's tenure as law minister that Bofors-accused <keyword id="54989" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ottavio-Quattrocchi">Ottavio Quattrocchi</keyword> was given a clean chit by then UPA government in 2009. Sources said he fell out with Congress party leadership after he became the governor and criticised it. Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, former prime minister H D Deve Gowda and opposition leader in the assembly Siddaramaiah also mourned the demise of Bhardwaj. "In his death we lost a good legal expert and administrator. May his soul rest in peace and may God give strength to his family to bear the loss," Yediyurappa said in a condolence message. A tussle between Bhardwaj and Yediyurappa over mining and land scams drew everyone's attention during his second stint as chief minister. Gowda said Bhardwaj will always be remembered for his exceptional service to the nation, while Siddaramaiah recalled him as as a tough man against immoral practices during power struggle. "His contribution to Karnataka during his tenure shall always be remembered. He was tough against immoral practices of power struggle. My deepest condolences to his family members &amp; well-wishers," Siddaramaiah tweeted. Bhardwaj held a Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa) degree and did his schooling from GBC High School, Rohtak, and college in BM College, Shimla.  In Bihar, a virtual eclipse of <keyword id="123462" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Janata-Dal">Janata Dal</keyword> (U) poses problems for BJP with the fight appearing bi-polar in the five seats in Seemanchal and two that fall outside the region. There is a sizeable Muslim population in all seats and though BJP has been winning Araria, Purnea, Katihar and Bhagalpur, it now faces elections on its own. RJD boss Lalu Prasad and Congress seem to be back in the reckoning in the state. 
 
Mulayam Singh Yadav defends his base of Etah-Mainpuri-Etawah, areas where he must score to check a resurgent BJP with reports from 21 seats in western UP and Rohilkhand indicating gains for the saffronites. 
 
Though support for BSP is harder to gauge, SP’s main regional rival seems to be feeling the heat with religious polarisation post Muzaffarnagar riots making several contests primarily BJP versus SP affairs. 
 For BJP, the stakes continue to be high with its prime ministerial candidate <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> campaigning hard, addressing rallies in Hardoi, Etah, Firozabad and Mathura on Monday hoping for significant gains. 
 
The Jat vote is a factor in just as Yadavs are expected to rally behind SP while Akbarpur has sent BSP chief Mayawati to Lok Saba twice, most recently in 2004. 
 
In Rajasthan, prestigious Jat-influenced seats like Alwar and Bharatpur are due to poll along with constituencies like Tonk, Dausa and Sawai-Madhopur. 
 
In Chhattisgarh, urbanising seats like Durg, Raipur and Bilaspur will be voting with Congress hoping to loosen BJP's seeming stranglehold.

Coke Studio returns to India with 50 artistes, 10 new tracks

New Delhi, Mar 19 () The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has dismissed the claims of grandchildren of late Maharani Gayatri Devi of Jaipur over the ownership of the iconic Jai Mahal hotel. The appellate tribunal has set aside the previous orders of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), which had allowed Maharaja Dev Raj and Rajkumari Lalitya Kumar majority stake in the company Jai Mahal Hotels Pvt Ltd, which owns the majestic property. A two-member NCLAT bench observed that Rajkumar Dev Raj and Rajkumari Lalitya "can not claim title on the basis of succession certificate dated February 19, 2009". "The alleged acts of oppression complained of by 1st and 2nd respondents (Rajkumar Dev Raj and Rajkumari Lalitya) occurred around 2001. Maharani Gayatri Devi on the death of Maharaj Jagat Singh (her son) on February 5, 1997 became his sole legatee by virtue of will dated June 23, 1996," NCLAT said in an order dated March 12. "Therefore, Rajkumar Dev Raj and Rajkumari Lalitya cannot claim inheritance on original 5,050 shares to be legal heirs of Late Maharaj Jagat Singh on his death (February 5, 1997)," it said. The NCLAT also said that "alleged acts of oppression complained of by 1st and 2nd respondents occurred around 2001" and they became shareholders of Jai Mahal Hotels on November 14, 2008 and February 19, 2009. "The Tribunal (NCLT) failed to consider the abovesaid aspects and wrongly held that Rajkumar Dev Raj and Rajkumari Lalitya inherited the shares of Late Maharaj Jagat Singh on February 5, 1997 on the death of Maharaj Jagat Singh," it said while setting aside the previous order. NCLAT further said that Maharani Gayatri Devi, who was at all material times including in 2001, was the sole legatee of Late Maharaja Jagat Singh, had through a letter on April 10, 2001 left it open to Jai Mahal Hotel to offer the shares to other existing shareholders and declined to subscribe to any shares. "In view of the aforesaid finding the impugned judgement dated August 1, 2018 passed by the Tribunal cannot be upheld. It is accordingly set aside," said NCLAT. Earlier on August 1, 2018 NCLT had restored the ownership of Jai Mahal hotel in favour of grandchildren of late Maharani Gayatri Devi. Allowing the petition of Gayatrai Devi's grandchildren, NCLT had set aside the resolution of the extraordinary general meeting of the company held in March 1999 and March 2001 regarding appointments on board and dilution of their stake. It had restored the "position ante immediately upon death of Maharaja Jai Singh " and set aside the resolution passed in the board meeting regarding allotment of shares. NCLT had restored their original position of the shareholding as well as the board of directors, and thereby making the grandchildren of Maharani Gayatri Devi as the owners of the Jai Mahal hotel in Jaipur. The grandchildren had earlier won the battle for transmission of their father's shares in their names. Built in 1745, the Jai Mahal Palace is now operated as a hotel by Taj group of Hotels. state of Haryana has 10 Lok Sabha constituencies in total. All the 10 seats went for polling on 19 th May 2019 and the results will show which party bags the majority number of seats from the state. In 2014 general elections for the Lok Sabha, the BJP captured 7 places for the parliament from Haryana. The Indian National Lok Dal claimed two seats namely Sirsa and Hisar. The Congress party could strive to keep only one seat from the state by winning from Rohtak. From the Rohtak seat, Deependra Singh Hooda, the son of Phupinder Singh Hooda, the then chief minister of the state. Notably, the BJP fought only in 8 seats in the state of Haryana while the election results favored the party by giving it a victory over 7 out of 8 places it contested in 2014. The ally of BJP Haryana Janhit Congress contested from two places and both these seats were lost to the aforementioned candidates. With the mounting anticipation whether the BJP can retain its prospects in the state, the game seems to be a lot tougher for the party this time. If Congress does manage to win a few seats, the polls predict that it won’t be more than one or two. Data shared by the Election Commission so far show the BJP sweeping the state and leading in every single constituency. The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) who won two seats in the state during the 2014 Lok Sabha Election is lagging behind in Sirsa and Hisar. Congress' Deepender Singh Hooda is also falling behind Arvind Kumar Sharma who is winning by a margin of 7,726 votes. If the Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) manage to sweep all ten seats, then that means Bhupinder Singh Hooda — the lone incumbent Congress candidate from Sonepat — will be losing out to Digvijay Singh Chautala. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) stretched its legs beyond Delhi to try its hand at contesting the elections in neighbouring state, Haryana. But exit polls show that it’s unlikely that they will be bringing any seats home. The state of Haryana has 10 Lok Sabha constituencies in total. All the 10 seats went for polling on 19 th May 2019 and the results will show which party bags the majority number of seats from the state. In 2014 general elections for the Lok Sabha, the BJP captured 7 places for the parliament from Haryana. The Indian National Lok Dal claimed two seats namely Sirsa and Hisar. The Congress party could strive to keep only one seat from the state by winning from Rohtak. From the Rohtak seat, Deependra Singh Hooda, the son of Phupinder Singh Hooda, the then chief minister of the state. Notably, the BJP fought only in 8 seats in the state of Haryana while the election results favored the party by giving it a victory over 7 out of 8 places it contested in 2014. The ally of BJP Haryana Janhit Congress contested from two places and both these seats were lost to the aforementioned candidates. With the mounting anticipation whether the BJP can retain its prospects in the state, the game seems to be a lot tougher for the party this time. The Congress is now seen fielding highly seasoned election campaigners like Kumari Selja and Ashok Tanwar for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
