The <keyword id="6357808" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="enforcement-directorate" source="Orion">Enforcement Directorate</keyword> (ED) has attached immovable and movable properties worth Rs 97.79 crore belonging to Ripu Sudan Kundra aka <keyword id="18641" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="raj-kundra" source="Orion">Raj Kundra</keyword>, businessman, and husband of Bollywood actor <keyword id="6358615" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shilpa-shetty" source="Orion">Shilpa Shetty</keyword>, under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. The attached properties include a residential flat in Juhu, which is in the name of Shilpa Shetty, another residential bungalow in Pune and equity shares in Raj Kundra's name. The financial probe agency had initiated an investigation based on multiple FIRs registered by Maharashtra Police and Delhi Police against Variable Tech Pte Ltd, Late Amit Bhardwaj, Ajay Bhardwaj, Vivek Bhardwaj, Simpy Bhardwaj, Mahender Bhardwaj and a number of MLM agents. It has been alleged that they had collected huge amounts of funds in the form of <keyword id="6395759" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bitcoins" source="Orion">Bitcoins</keyword> (worth Rs 6,600 crore in 2017 itself) from the public with false promises of a 10 per cent per month return in the form of Bitcoins. The collected Bitcoins were supposed to be utilised for Bitcoin mining, and investors were to get huge returns in Crypto assets. "But the promoters cheated the investors and have been concealing the ill-gotten Bitcoins in obscure online wallets. The probe also revealed that Raj Kundra received 285 Bitcoins from the mastermind and promoter of Gain Bitcoin Ponzi Scam, Amit Bhardwaj, for setting up a Bitcoin mining farm in Ukraine," ED said in a statement issued on Thursday. The said Bitcoins were sourced out of proceeds of crime collected by Amit Bhardwaj from gullible investors. "Since the deal didn't materialise, Kundra is still in possession and enjoyment of 285 Bitcoins which are presently valued at more than Rs. 150 Crore," said the ED official. During the investigation, multiple search operations were carried out in this case and three persons were arrested. "Simpy Bhardwaj was arrested on December 17, 2023, Nitin Gaur on December 29, 2023, and Nikhil Mahajan on January 16, 2023. All of them are presently in judicial custody as of date," said the official. However, the main accused Ajay Bhardwaj and Mahendra Bhardwaj are still absconding. Earlier, ED had attached properties worth Rs 69 crore. The Prosecution Complaint in this was filed on June 11, 2019, and the Supplementary Prosecution Complaint on February 14, 2024. "The Special PMLA court has taken cognizance of the same. Further investigation is under progress," the official added.

The BCCI is mulling over running both the teams and appointed them veterans cricketers, who do not have any blot on their career report card. 
 
Sources told Times of India that the matter was discussed during a meeting between BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya and board member and IPL commissioner Rajeev Shukla in Kolkata on Wednesday. 
 
Former Indian captains Sourav Ganguly, Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid are being considered for running the two teams. 
 
The news daily reported that the board members were also considering the option of introducing two new franchisees as there is a legal commitment to the broadcaster to run the tournament with a minimum of eight teams. 
 
TOI reported that the board taking over the two suspended teams as a temporary arrangement also has the merit of not needing any fresh auctions for players of the two franchises and therefore avoiding the uncertainty and disruption that the other options would inevitably entail for the players.

Supreme Court has upheld the recommendation. The court also felt adequate punishment in the form of life ban was meted out to two players – <keyword id="13418" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="S-Sreesanth">S Sreesanth</keyword> and Ankit Chavan, five years of suspension to Amit Singh, and a year-long suspension to <keyword id="82630" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Siddharth-Trivedi">Siddharth Trivedi</keyword>.

The team behind the HotShots app is said to have lured women under the guise of an acting audition which could lead to their on-screen 'break'. They would then be coerced into performing sexual acts, which would be filmed and uploaded to the app. Hotshots had 400,000 subscribers who paid between 200-400 rupees (about $2.70-$5.40) a month, <a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-57897783">reported the BBC.</a>The Times of India reports that the police say they have proof that Kundra ran the app from his London office, have documentation outlining his role, as well as indicting text messages. Actor Shilpa Shetty - Kundra's wife - has been questioned by <keyword id="6358070" type="DEFINITION" weightage="60" keywordseo="mumbai">Mumbai</keyword> Police's <keyword id="39494" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Crime">crime</keyword> branch in relation to this investigation. "The committee will have six weeks' time to study the Lodha committee report and will give its recommendations after talking to all the stakeholders. The committee will also consult the legal experts before coming up with recommendations since we do not want any legal complications later on," Shukla told PTI. 
 
Ganguly is also a member of the IPL Governing Council. 
 
Meanwhile, the panel’s job is only to find the way forward so that preparations for IPL 9 can begin. 
 
"We still have some time for IPL 9, so we should not take any hasty decision. We will follow the procedure and come to a consensus on all the matters relating to IPL," Shukla told the news agency.
