Its $2.1 million price tag makes the drug, Zolgensma, the most expensive in the world.</li><li>Four parents of children born with the disease, called spinal muscular atrophy, told Business Insider they have been fighting health insurers like Aetna and Anthem to get access to Zolgensma. One decision, by UnitedHealth, has since been <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/high-fives-and-sobs-greet-unitedhealthcares-reversal-of-denials-for-child-gene-therapy/2019/07/18/8ddeb3ae-a974-11e9-9214-246e594de5d5_story.html?utm_term=.c3a7fbd1ec2e">reversed</a>.</li><li>Sarah Stanger, whose son lives with spinal muscular atrophy, called it "heartbreaking, because this one person is everything to us. And they're acting like his life doesn't really matter."</li><li>These kinds of barriers could create "further inequities in the healthcare system for people with genetic diseases and disabling conditions," Stanford ethicist Holly Tabor said.</li></ul><p>Emma's reporting highlights an important tension that's playing out right now - between health plans who are setting up policies that constrain who might be considered for treatment and drug companies that set the $2.1 million price tag - that leave patients and their families caught in the middle. Health Catalyst, which helps hospitals sift through their data, also closed out the day 51% higher than its $26 a share price set the night before. </p><p>We were tracking the IPOs closely. </p><ul><li>First, a recap of what happened Thursday:<strong> <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/livongo-stock-price-digital-health-ipo-2019-7">Buzzy digital health startup Livongo surged in its stock market debut as the 3-year digital health IPO drought comes to an end.</a></strong></li><li>Next, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/general-catalyst-hemant-taneja-criteria-for-digital-health-ipos-2019-7">we caught up with Hemant Taneja</a>, managing director at General Catalyst and early investor in Livongo. That's in part because of new treatments, as well as more use of existing, preventive treatments. </p><h3><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/hiv-drugmakers-to-invest-in-working-on-treatment-preventive-medicines-2019-7">The future of HIV treatments will change dramatically in the next decade, Citi says. These 3 companies could be the biggest winners.</a></h3><ul><li>Since 2012, a preventive HIV medication has been available in the US, making it possible for those at risk to reduce their chances of contracting the disease.</li><li>Citi analysts predict the US market for these types of drugs will nearly triple by 2030 to about $5.5 billion, thanks to factors like President Donald Trump's<span> </span><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-state-of-the-union-end-hiv-in-us-by-2030-2019-2">new plan to stop HIV</a>.</li><li>New drugs from the US drug giant<span> </span><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/merck-hiv-drug-implant-prevention-and-treatment-2019-4">Merck</a>, the HIV-focused drugmaker ViiV Healthcare, and the biopharma Gilead could dominate the preventive HIV market over the next decade, the Citi team said.</li></ul><h3>This week in conversation with the healthcare team</h3><ul><li>Clarrie spoke to Flare Capital cofounder <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/flare-capitals-michael-greeley-on-investing-255-million-fund-2019-7">Michael Greeley</a>, who told her what the firm plans to invest in after raising a new $255 million fund this week. <br /><ul><li>According to <keyword id="4619331" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="netskope" source="Orion">Netskope</keyword> <keyword id="13881721" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="SEO-phishing" source="Orion">SEO phishing</keyword> rose to 450% last year.</li><li>Hackers are using Google and Bing to rank malicious PDF files.</li><li>Here’s how you can spot malicious PDF files — read below.</li></ul>We have heard about data breaches and <keyword id="730385" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="cybersecurity-challenges" source="Orion">cybersecurity challenges</keyword> but the latest numbers from security service edge provider, Netskope, suggest phishing downloads rose 450% over the past year. Attackers are using search engine optimization (SEO) to rank malicious PDF files on search engines.<br /><br />According to reports, SEO phishing attempts are constantly increasing and hackers are targeting the employees through popular search engines such as Google and Bing. The attack is leading to loss of customer trust, loss of data and affecting the brand reputation. <br /><br /><a href="https://www.proofpoint.com/us/blog/security-awareness-training/2022-state-phish-explores-increasingly-active-threat-landscape">Research</a> published by Proofpoint shows that in 2021, 83% of organizations were affected by email-based phishing attacks where they were tricked to click on unwanted links, downloading malware, completing wire transfers and providing login credentials.<br /><br />With all-new SEO phishing techniques, successful attacks have increased and show the potential to rise further, as a new medium of attack allows hackers to manipulate employees into handing over sensitive information. <br /><br />Director of <keyword id="13881722" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="netskope-threat-labs" source="Orion">Netskope Threat Labs</keyword>, Ray Canzanese said, “people know they should be wary of clicking on links in email, text messages, and in social media from people they don’t know. But search engines? This presents a much harder challenge.” Talking about solutions he also added, “how does the average user differentiate between a “benign” search engine result and a “malicious” search engine result? From an enterprise perspective, this underscores the importance of having a web filtering solution in place.”<br /><br /><strong>Spot malicious PDF files — here’s how</strong><br />According to Ray Canzanese, the most effective way is to use a solution that decrypts and scans web traffic for malicious content. At enterprise level, security teams should encourage users to inspect all links they click on and be careful if links take them to an unfamiliar website.<br /><br />If an employee clicks on a malicious PDF, they can see a fake captcha at the top of the first page which is followed by text on other pages. The user should immediately close the file and delete it. In addition, <keyword id="13881720" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="cazanes" source="Orion">Cazanes</keyword> also added that users must report malicious URLs that feature on search engines like Google and Bing. Cybersecurity researchers uncover a new trick that lets hackers plant malicious PDFs on search engines using SEO

<ul><li>The excise department of <keyword id="66" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="delhi" source="Orion">Delhi</keyword> has proposed to legalise the <keyword id="6958822" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="home-delivery-of-liquor" source="Orion">home delivery of liquor</keyword> and put an end on all discounts offered by vendors</li><li>The new excise policy is still in the early stages, but reports suggest it could be announced soon.</li><li>The policy document also proposed to reduce the legal drinking age from 25 years to 21 years.</li></ul>Delhiites may soon be able to get alcohol home delivered as the excise department of Delhi has proposed to legalise the home delivery of liquor and put an end to <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/india/news/cheap-liquor-in-delhi-is-a-thing-of-the-past-now/articleshow/89919730.cms">all the discounts</a> offered by vendors in the new Delhi Excise Policy 2022-23.<br /><br />The Delhi Cabinet may take a rational decision on the proposal this month, <a href="https://www.hindustantimes.com/cities/delhi-news/delhi-govt-may-give-nod-to-home-delivery-of-liquor-in-the-capital-101652127460746.html">according to Hindustan Times report.</a><br /><br />According to the official government procedures, it is mandatory to notify the excise policy at the start of every financial year. It has remained the same in the last few years, however, it was restructured last year by the Delhi government. It added the definition of new zones and included a one-time charge at the time of bidding for vends.<br /><br />“If anyone home-delivers liquor as of now, it will be deemed illegal," said an excise official.<br /><br />The new 2021 rules stated that shops with L-13 license will be allowed to deliver both Indian and foreign alcohol/liquor to the homes of people, only if the order is received through an online web portal or app. However, this rule restricts all deliveries to hostels, offices or institutions.<br /><br />“Home deliveries have to be envisaged and built as a separate channel. It has a cost involved, and if it is force fitted, one of the current supply chain participants — manufacturer, distributor, retailer or consumer — will have to absorb it. That is a disincentive. Therefore, for home deliveries to succeed, an altogether new parallel distribution chain is needed which has provisions for costs and reasonable returns for all its participants,” said Vinod Giri, director general of the Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies (CIABC).<br /><br />The existing policy also allows vendors to <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/india/news/cheap-liquor-in-delhi-is-a-thing-of-the-past-now/articleshow/89919730.cms">give discounts</a> on liquor, however, it was discontinued by the Arvind Kejriwal-led government in February, as the discounts were attracting a lot of crowd outside liquor shops, violating COVID-19 rules and regulations.<br /><br />On April 2, the Delhi government allowed the vendors to offer a maximum 25% discount on the retail price.<br /><br />The new excise policy is still a work in progress, and reports suggest it will be announced soon.<br /><br />“The department has submitted some proposals for the consideration of the cabinet. It will not be a new policy but a revised one which will try to address the challenges which were identified during the implementation of the existing policy (2021-22). There is a significant potential for revenue augmentation and also providing a decent standard of customer experience at par with the stature of the national capital," an unnamed official was quoted as saying by the report.<br /><br />The policy document also proposed to reduce the legal drinking age from 25 years to 21 years in parity with neighbouring cities.
