New Delhi, Feb 23 () Global hospitality major Radisson Hotel Group is looking to add around 30 operating hotels in its portfolio by 2023 as part of its expansion plans in the country, a top company official has said.The company currently has 94 operating hotels in India. It has been signing around 12 to 15 hotels every year and opening about 8 to 10 hotels on an average."We plan to add about 30 more operating hotels by end of 2023 as part of our expansion plans in India. So, we would have around 125 to 130 operating hotels by then," Radisson Hotel Group, South Asia, Managing Director &amp; VP Operations, Zubin Saxena told .This a part of the company's strategy to cross 200 hotel-mark, both operational and in the pipeline, in India by 2023 and it is on target to achieve this, he added.On being asked about the growth roadmap for the company, Saxena said: "It is all dependent on the market. I think India as a market is going to be a mid market growth story as the country grows in tier II and tier III locations. So, the brands in these segments are expected to have some movement".But in tier I cities, the company will also be launching Radisson Collection, which is our luxury brand in India. The company is also launching a Radisson RED in Mohali later this year, he added.On the initiatives undertaken by the company to streamline operations and to ramp up operational profitability, Saxena said: "In 2019, we launched 'India Unification Plan' which was built around unlocking the synergies of our portfolio in India. We would like to say that the plan has been a success".India unification strategy is premised on five critical areas: people, procurement, food and beverage, operations and commercial, he noted.When asked about the business model the company follows, he said: "We are largely doing management agreements with selective franchising".Another successful initiative undertaken by the company is that it has clustered the hotels in its portfolio in India. Last Saturday afternoon was high on mercury.  The interior looks towering and pretty. With water fountains on black marble, the concierge looks plush. We didn’t know much surprises were awaiting us at the fourth floor, our residence for the weekend. As we got out from the elevator with a front desk staff as our guide, the warm colours of the carpet enthralled us. With a hint of golden tinge on the floor, lot of woods on the side and blue stencil work on the walls and ceiling of the corridor looks magnificent.  The room, we checked in, was a superior category one, overlooking the metro station. There is a brightly coloured bay window, which is of full glass. Getting awed by trains is my favourite hobby and I was on cloud nine, until I discovered that the other side of the hotel overlooks the Faridabad train line. The room looks plush and business-like. With a king sized bed, large screen LED TV, a big canvas painting, complimentary Wi-Fi, 33 square meter room is cozy and appropriate for a peaceful stay. The basic amenities of luxury- high speed internet, cosy bed, grand shower and high quality toiletries are all there besides some extras.

 Let’s come to another important point – food. That’s something, we, who love good hospitality, swear by. The food at House of Soy, the oriental place is exquisite. With so much vegetarian spread, this place is a must try for everyone. There’s another restaurant at the concierge level – The Broadway. There is a very high level of occupancy in the southern side, he said, adding in the western region locations like Alibaugh and Lonavala are already full. "It's a very, very big momentum now in December and January, aided by the holiday season, and years of not being able to spend time in this period of the year with your loved ones, and that is really aiding the momentum in December and January," Singh said. On the kind of demand coming from travellers, Hotel Association of India Vice President K B Kachru said, "We are finding dates getting sold out months in advance and lots of enthusiasm for innovative and creative offers that showcase the locale that the hotel is in, including its culture and cuisine given our unique and authentic culinary specialties across the country through our culinary ambassadors." The ongoing travel patterns and trends have had a positive impact on the hospitality industry, and we are quite optimistic with our portfolio performance already surpassing our pre-COVID numbers." Similarly, an OYO spokesperson said, "Based on advanced bookings for the upcoming holiday season between December 25-31, we are witnessing a 44 per cent rise in booking demand, led by leisure cities such as Goa, Hyderabad, Puri, Manali and Kolkata. Leveraging its rich expertise in food and hospitality services, the key initiative of ITC Hotels has been food distribution across cities based on the requirements of the local administration as well as hospitals, the company said in a statement. While in New Delhi, ITC Maurya and Sheraton have been providing over 1,500 meals daily for distribution to migrant workers; in Bengaluru, ITC Gardenia is lending its support with 1,000 food packets daily for 15 days (15,000 meals) to Municipal Corporation, ITC Hotels said. In Mumbai, ITC Grand Central has made arrangements to deliver meals to doctors in MG Hospital. Food has also been catered to doctors at the Kasturba Hospital in Mumbai by ITC Grand Central, it added. In Lucknow, Fortune Hotel is also lending assistance through the provision of more than 1,000 meals per day. This initiative will be progressively rolled out in other metros including Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad, ITC Hotels said. In addition to providing meals, ITC Hotel properties in Jaipur and Goa have provided shower caps for doctors and healthcare workers as well as ensuring availability of sanitisers, it added. "ITC Maratha, Mumbai was identified as one of the quarantine spaces by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation. ITC Hotels is also working closely with the local administration and embassies and offered similar space at ITC Grand Chola, Chennai and ITC Kohenur, Hyderabad, to enable stopover of asymptomatic international travellers as and when required," ITC Hotels said. The order shall be published for the information of the general public in the official gazette and by affixing a copy on the notice boards of the office of all District Deputy Commissioner of Police and all Police Stations in Delhi/New Delhi, the notification read. The concerned civic road maintaining agencies shall erect the corresponding informatory sign boards indicating the speed limits at all prominent locations on the road/road stretches in their areas of jurisdiction for guidance and convenience of the road user/general public. This order has come into force with immediate effect from June 8. Unregulated plying of motor vehicles on a high speed on the roads of NCT of Delhi is endangering the life of motorists as well as other road users/commuters and it is necessary to regulate the speed of motor vehicles on the roads of NCT of Delhi for safety of motorists as well as other road users. The notification has been issued by Satyawan Gautam, Deputy Commissioner of Police/Traffic (Modernization), Delhi in exercise of the powers, conferred u/s 28(1) (b) of Delhi Police Act, 1978 read with Rule 9 (1) of the Delhi Control of Vehicular and Other Traffic on Roads and Streets Regulations, 1980 which revises the maximum speed limit (where road condition permits) for various type of motor vehicles on Delhi roads. For cars, jeeps, taxis, cabs, the maximum speed limit is revised to 70 km per hour on NH-48 (Earlier NH-8) from Parade Road/Gurgaon Road Crossing to Delhi Gurgaon Border, DND Flyover - Mayur Vihar Link Road and NH-44 (Earlier NH-1) from <keyword id="2802822" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Singhu-Border">Singhu Border</keyword> to Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar, Noida Toll Road (The straight stretch from Delhi side upto Toll Gates and from the Toll Gate upto the points where curves lasts), Saleemgarh Bypass Road (Ring Road Bypass). Similarly, it was also revised on NH-9 (Earlier NH-24) from Millennium Park to Gazipur Border, NH-9 (Earlier NH-10) from Ghevra Xing to Tikri Border, Northern Access Road from Red Light NSG to T-Point of Northern Access &amp; Central Spine, Central Spine Road from Mahipalpur Chowk to Terminal III, IGI Airport. A maximum speed of 60 km per hour is prescribed on stretches including NH-44 (Earlier NH-1) from Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar to Mukarba Chowk, Barapulla Nallah Road from Sarai Kale Khan upto Aurobindo Marg Xing, Ring Road from Chandgi Ram Akhara to Azadpur Flyover via ISBT, Rajghat, <keyword id="187137" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="ITO">ITO</keyword>, Sarai Kale Khan, Ashram Chowk, <keyword id="40458" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="AIIMS">AIIMS</keyword>, DhaulaKuan / Naraina, Punjabi Bagh, Outer Ring Road from Modi Mill Flyover upto Olaf Palme MargNH-8 Xing via Munirka. The speed limit is also revised on Outer Ring Road from District Centre Janakpuri via Peeragarhi, Mukarba Xing via Burari Xing upto Chandgi Ram Akhara, Pushta Road (Marginal Bandh Road) from Noida Border (Chilla Regulator) to New Geeta Colony Grade Separator via Akshardham Flyover, Radisson Road from T-Point Radisson Hotel to Terminal-III, IGI Airport , Terminal-II, IGI Airport Road from T-point of Terminal-II Road and Central Spine to Terminal-II, IGI Airport. A maximum speed for cars of 50 kmph on NH-44 (Earlier NH-1) from Mukarba Chowk to Azadpur Chowk, Ring Road from Azadpur to Chandgi Ram Akhara via Model Town, Kingsway Camp, Mall Road, NH-9 (Earlier NH-10) from Punjabi Bagh to Ghevra Xing, All arterial roads in areas between Ring Road and Outer Ring Road, beyond Outer Ring Road, inside Ring Road and entire Trans Yamuna area (except roads which are specifically mentioned in the table). The lowest limit of 30 kmph is directed for All minor roads inside all Residential Areas / Commercial Markets and service roads / service lanes. Delhi revises maximum speed limit for motor vehicles

When Ebola fighters in West Africa started telling the governments of other countries to <a href="http://kff.org/news-summary/australia-offers-16m-for-ebola-msf-rejects-australian-offer-of-2-2m-asks-for-medics-instead/">send them their doctors instead of their dollars</a>, only one nation answered the call quickly and in earnest: Cuba.
By mid-October, nearly <a href="http://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2014/oct/22/cuban-doctors-west-africa-fight-ebola">300 Cuban physicians and nurses were on the ground in Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Liberia</a>; another 500 were training to join them in the next few months. It was already the largest anti-Ebola effort in the world, and more than 15,000 more had signed up to volunteer.
Other countries were starting to take notice - especially the United States.&#xa0;In Sierra Leone, while some healthcare workers were lodged at the Radisson for $200 a night, 165 of Cuba's medics were living three to a room in a Freetown budget hotel, <a href="http://on.wsj.com/1w1B2zY%20">the Wall Street Journal&#xa0;reported</a>. Cuba's response team stood out among international medical workers as not only skilled, but lean and efficient.
On Oct. 19, Secretary of State John Kerry <a href="http://www.state.gov/secretary/remarks/2014/10/233091.htm">called Cuba's effort against Ebola "impressive."</a> Days later, President Raul Castro said Cuba was "willing to work side by side with all nations - including the US - in the fight against Ebola," <a href="http://bigstory.ap.org/article/f2227763a09b46c5baefa6036501e2ad/cuba-invites-us-cooperate-ebola">AP reported</a>.
These were strange words for both leaders, since their countries had barely interacted in more than 4 decades. Aside from there being no US embassy in Havana, tourism between the two countries has been prohibited, and Cuba has been included on the US list of states that sponsor terrorism.
Nearly a month before Cuba's big push against Ebola, however, the virus was diagnosed for the first time in the US. Thomas Eric Duncan, who had traveled from Liberia and developed symptoms after his arrival in Texas, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/dallas-ebola-patient-thomas-eric-duncan-dies-2014-10">was diagnosed with the virus on Sept. 30</a>. About a week later, Duncan tragically passed away; days later, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/video-nina-pham-hospital-2014-10">two of the nurses who treated him fell ill with Ebola</a>.
While <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/ban-flights-from-west-africa-2014-10">the nation panicked</a>, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director Tom Frieden said America's best chances for containing the disease was to stop it from killing thousands overseas. But the official US mission in West Africa - not counting Americans who volunteered with Doctors Without Borders and other groups - paled in comparison to Cuba's. With just around <a href="http://blogs.cdc.gov/global/category/infectious-disease/ebola/">170 CDC health workers on the ground</a> in the three countries most affected by the virus, it was clear America couldn't solve the crisis alone.
Cuba had one resource the US desperately needed - thousands of willing and ready medical professionals. Cuba leads the world with its high concentration of health workers. <a href="http://www.who.int/whosis/whostat2007/en/">They have around 600 doctors and nurses for every 100,000 citizens</a>; the US has about 250 doctors and nurses for every 100,000 citizens.
And Cuba puts them to work. The country has a floating squadron of <a href="http://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2014/oct/22/cuban-doctors-west-africa-fight-ebola">50,000</a> doctors and nurses on the ground in developing countries. The program's closest parallel is Doctors Without Borders, but instead of being piloted by a nonprofit, the push is led by the government.
While the world has watched, Cuba (not a wealthy country by any standard) has managed to respond swiftly to health crises around the world - something that undoubtedly played a role, perhaps providing a small push, in President Obama's decision to renegotiate the two countries' relationship.&#xa0;<a href="http://www.c-span.org/video/?323375-3/president-obama-statement-cuba">During his speech</a> announcing a return to diplomatic relations on Wednesday, Obama cited the hundreds of healthcare workers the country has sent to Africa to fight Ebola.
"I believe American and Cuban healthcare workers should work side by side to stop the spread of this deadly disease," he said.
Even now, with thousands of doctors and nurses working to defeat the disease in West Africa, the death toll continues to climb. Nearly <a href="http://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140673614623886/fulltext">400 healthcare workers have died, most of them locals</a>.
The antiquated conflict between the two countries pales in comparison to the global necessity to band together during a crisis and work collaboratively wherever help is needed most.

On Monday evening, President Barack Obama sent a letter to Speaker of the House John Boehner saying he would be <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/obama-is-sending-275-us-troops-to-iraq-2014-6">sending 275 U.S. troops to Iraq</a> to "provide support and security for U.S. personnel and the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad" in the wake of violence and political turmoil triggered by the jihadist group Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS).
The Nightmare Scenario For Oil. Energy analysts warn that if ISIS <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/iraq-oil-2014-6">advances toward the southern Iraqi oil fields</a>, we could see a major supply disruption that could send energy prices surging. Here's Societe Generale analyst Michael Wittner: "Prices went up last week because of the fear and possibility of a much larger volume of crude produced in the southern Iraqi oil fields and exported through the Basrah port complex. Exports of Basrah crude have been in the 2.5-2.6 Mb/d range in recent months, and that is what is at risk. This volume of crude is greater than Saudi Arabia's spare capacity, which we currently estimate at 1.75 Mb/d (9.75 Mb/d of crude output in May vs. capacity of 11.5 Mb/d available within 30 days)."
Argentina Says It's A Victim Of Extortion. "Argentina will fulfill its obligations and it will not default on its restructured debt," <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/r-argentina-vows-to-service-debt-despite-new-legal-blow-2014-16">said Argentine President Cristina Fernandez</a> after the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/supreme-court-denies-argentina-2014-6">U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear</a> her country's appeal that it shouldn't have to pay a consortium of hedge funds billions in debt. However, she continued to reiterate her disapproval of the hedge funds' demands. "Argentina has shown it is willing to negotiate, but it does not have to submit itself to such extortion," she said.
Prices Cool In The UK. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/uk-inflation-2014-6">UK consumer prices</a> climbed 1.5%, slowing from 1.8% the month prior. From UK's Office of National Statistics: "Falls in transport services costs, notably air fares, provided the largest contribution to the decrease in the rate. Other large downward effects came from the food &amp; non-alcoholic drinks and clothing sectors. The largest offsetting upward effects came from motor fuels and recreation &amp; culture."
German Investor Sentiment Drops. Germany's ZEW Investors Expectations index unexpectedly fell to 29.8 in June from 33.1 in May. This also missed economists' expectations fro a 35.0 print. "We are slightly surprised by the continuing fall given positive catalysts from the ECB, lower bond yields and generally decent economic data," said Pantheon Macroeconomics' Claus Vistesen. "If recent positive data points and announcements in the eurozone are not enough to buoy investor sentiment, we dread to see what happens if the news flow changes for the worse."
Markets Are Up. Most markets around the world are in the green. In Europe, France's CAC 40 is up 0.1%, Germany's DAX is up 0.2%, Spain's IBEX is up 0.1%. Japan's Nikkei closed up 0.3%. U.S. stock market futures are modestly in the green.
Here Comes The Fed. The Federal Reserve's Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) begins its two-day monetary policy meeting today. Here's a summary of what former Fed Vice Chair Don Kohn has said about the Fed (via Potomac Research Group's Greg Valliere): "The Fed remains dovish, with a solid majority of officials in the camp that believes there's still plenty of slack in the labor market. Despite the disappointing first half economic figures, the central bankers anticipate improvement in the second half -- but not enough to alter their accommodative policies any time soon. "
US Inflation Update. At 8:30 a.m. ET, we'll get the May consumer price index report. Economists estimate CPI climbed 0.2% month-over-month or 2.0% year-over-year in May. Excluding food and energy prices, they estimate core CPI rose by 0.2% and 1.9% respectively. "The year-to-year figures have risen abruptly in recent months, but that mostly represents basis effects, as the year-ago figures were extremely soft," said Citi's Peter D'Antonio. "We don't think there has been a sudden change in the underlying path of inflation. Note: Food prices have shot higher in the past three months. We believe this was a lagged response to the drought. Higher feed prices caused livestock owners to cull their herds, which in turn has tightened the market for meats (resulting in higher prices). In the past three months, food prices have increased by 1.5%, driven by a 4.0% jump in meat prices."
US Housing Market Update. Also at 8:30 a.m. ET, we'll get the May housing starts and building permits report. Economists estimate starts fell 3.9% in May to an annualized pace of 1.030 million units, while building permits increased 0.1% to 1.060 million. Here's Credit Suisse: "The pace of US housing starts shot 13.2% higher in April on a 39.6% leap in multifamily starts. (Single family starts edged up only 0.8% that month.) This alone would be sufficient reason to expect some giveback in May. But we note that construction hours worked slipped last month, and the NAHB housing market index edged lower, two factors that also point to a negative May reading."
GM. Late Monday afternoon, GM announced it would be <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/gm-another-recall-june-16-2014-6">recalling another 3.16 million cars</a> with model years 2000-2014. This brings GM's total recalls since the beginning of the year to over 20 million.
