<ul><li><strong><keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword> was the most affected country in the world, with 12 per cent of all the data on bots markets being Indian.</strong></li><li><strong>The data is sold in packets, which include logins, cookies, <keyword id="50691" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="digital" source="Orion">digital</keyword> fingerprints, screenshots, and other information.</strong></li><li><strong>At least 26.6 million stolen logins were found on the analysed markets. </strong></li></ul><br />As data-harvesting malware or bots flourish, data of at least 6 lakh Indians have been stolen and sold on bot markets and the average price for the digital identity of one Indian is about Rs 490, cyber-security researchers revealed on Thursday.<br /><br />India was the most affected country in the world, with 12 per cent of all the data on bots markets being Indian, according to research by cybersecurity company NordVPN.<br /><br />Bot markets are online marketplaces hackers use to sell data they steal from their victims' devices with bot malware.<br /><br />The data is sold in packets, which include logins, cookies, digital fingerprints, screenshots, and other information -- the full digital identity of a compromised person.<br /><br />This growing threat has already affected five million people globally, with hackers selling webcam snaps, screenshots, up-to-date logins, cookies and digital fingerprints.<br /><br />"At least five million people have had their online identities stolen and sold on bot markets for Rs 490 on average. Out of all the affected people, 600,000 are from India, making the country the most affected by this threat in the world," said the researchers.<br /><br />At least 26.6 million stolen logins were found on the analysed markets. Among them were 720,000 <keyword id="6355629" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="google" source="Orion">Google</keyword> logins, 654,000 <keyword id="10387" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="microsoft" source="Orion">Microsoft</keyword> logins, and 647,000 Facebook logins.<br /><br />In addition, researchers found 667 million cookies, 81 thousand digital fingerprints, 538 thousand auto-fill forms, numerous device screenshots, and webcam snaps.<br /><br />"Digital bots are becoming increasingly common. They operate in fields such as customer service, search engine optimisation and entertainment. Yet not all bots may serve good intentions -- many of them can be malicious," said security researchers.<br /><br />The most popular types of malware that steal and gather data include <keyword id="3258277" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="redline" source="Orion">RedLine</keyword>, <keyword id="15729861" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="vidar" source="Orion">Vidar</keyword>, <keyword id="15729863" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="racoon" source="Orion">Racoon</keyword>, Taurus, and AZORult. RedLine is the most prevalent of them all.<br /><br />"The 2easy marketplace was launched in 2018. At first, it was considered to be smaller compared to other markets. Yet the situation has dramatically changed since then. Data of 6 lakh Indians sold on 'bot' markets for nearly Rs 490 each

The deadly Covid-19 pandemic may have originated in raccoon dogs from the Wuhan market in China, according to an international team of virus experts.<br /><br />More than two years after the pandemic, the origins of Covid-19 remain unclear. It has been a political and scientific debate with scientists and politicians globally contending that the Coronavirus jumped into people from bats, or has been leaked from a laboratory.<br /><br />The new study, yet to be published, and led by experts including from the Universities of Arizona, Utah and Sydney and from the <keyword id="742488" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="scripps-research-institute" source="Orion">Scripps Research Institute</keyword> is based on genetic data drawn from swabs taken from in and around the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market starting in January 2020, the New York Times reported.<br /><br />Although the Chinese authorities had shut down the market after being linked to the outbreak of Covid pandemic, and the animals cleared out, the researchers got the samples from swabbing walls, floors, metal cages and carts that are used for transporting animal cages.<br /><br />The results showed that large amounts of genetic material were a match for the raccoon dog, the NYT report said.<br /><br />Raccoon dogs are related to foxes and are known to be able to transmit the Coronavirus.<br /><br />"We were able to figure out relatively quickly that at least in one of these samples, there was a lot of raccoon dog nucleic acid, along with virus nucleic acid," <keyword id="11937479" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="stephen-goldstein" source="Orion">Stephen Goldstein</keyword>, a virologist at the <keyword id="194748" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="university-of-utah" source="Orion">University of Utah</keyword> who worked on the new analysis, was quoted as saying.<br /><br />(Nucleic acids are the chemical building blocks that carry genetic information.)<br /><br />However, the team noted that "jumbling together of genetic material from the virus and the animal does not prove that a raccoon dog itself was infected. Covid-19 may have originated from racoon dogs at Wuhan market says new study

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Some Gen Zers have openly mocked millennial humor as being cringe and outdated.</li><li>Meanwhile millennials have begun appealing to Reddit for help as they're baffled by the humor behind Gen Z memes.</li></ul><p><a href="https://www.insider.com/gen-z-ruthlesly-mocking-millenial-humor-tiktok-2023-6">Millennial humor</a> has had a rough ride on TikTok lately: Gen Zers have analyzed their gags, picked apart their self-deprecating digs, and denounced the whole thing as try-hard and cringe. </p><p>But if Gen Zers are finding millennial humor cringe, millennials are finding Gen Z humor bewildering — with millennials feeling lost on what they're supposed to find funny. Lately, the generational comedy divide has popped up as a common topic of conversation across the internet.</p><p>Last year, a Reddit user who goes by TrainStationPoet posted about this very dichotomy in <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/OutOfTheLoop/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">r/OutOfTheLoop</a>, a subreddit designed to shine a light on various topics for those who feel out of touch. In a <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/OutOfTheLoop/comments/w54048/what_is_up_with_gen_z_humor/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lengthy post</a> to Gen Z, she said was a 35-year-old with a 22-year-old sister who sent her memes, and the problem was, "I genuinely do not understand ANY of them."</p><p>The post appeared to resonate, receiving over 15,000 likes and 2,500 comments.</p><p>Because of the speedy nature of social media today, a joke on the internet quickly snowballs, becoming more intricate and absurd, and relying on everyone being in on the joke. So it's understandable that some people may feel out-of-the-loop when it comes to Gen Z humor. </p><h2>Gen Z jokes are often extremely layered, which may contribute to confusion around them</h2><p>The most popular response to the Reddit post was written by a 34-year-old who compared Gen Z humor to a long-running and "somewhat far-fetched" joke between friends that had evolved beyond its original premise, where the "preposterous" and convoluted growth of the gag becomes the funny part.</p><p>A further reply noted Gen Z humor seemed to be more accelerated than old-school millennial memes due to the rate at which younger people used social media, so internet jokes now took on a collaborative quality with a speedy turnover, allowing them to "morph into something absurd as they vomit it back and forth with changes a billion times in a few hours."</p><p>A hugely popular recent example demonstrates how this works.</p><p>On August 12, a TikToker who goes by <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@emilyjeffri" target="_blank" rel="noopener">@emilyjeffri</a> posted <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@emilyjeffri/video/7266230300030536992" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a video</a> with an on-screen caption that suggested a "new bit idea" with her viewers where they could reference a fake 1980s horror movie called "Zepotha" and leave comments on other people's videos saying they looked like characters from the non-existent blockbuster. </p> <p>The video received 6.9 million views, and within four days TikTokers had created <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@emilyjeffri/video/7266947303708167456" target="_blank" rel="noopener">filters</a>, <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@xbxnana_/video/7266423309783272736" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fancams</a>, and <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@alaineapologist0/video/7266904109612141857" target="_blank" rel="noopener">detailed plot outlines</a> for the fictional film. Naturally, it's hard to understand why this is funny unless you saw the original video and followed its evolution, which would require someone to have spent a lot of time on TikTok and be algorithmically served these videos, or have them shared within your community.</p><h2>Gen Z jokes are often inspired by absurdism or 'anti-humor'</h2><p>In 2021, Chloe Partlow, a student from Mentor High School, in Mentor, Ohio, examined the relationship between Gen Z and absurdist humor, and shared her findings in a paper published in the High School Edition of <a href="https://www.jsr.org/hs/index.php/path/article/view/2011" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the Journal of Student Research</a>. </p><p>Partlow presented memes that varied on an absurd scale — such as an oversaturated image of a man with the head of a cat gripping a baseball bat beneath the words "<a href="https://imgflip.com/memegenerator/171501147/Soup-Time-Cat" target="_blank" rel="noopener">soup time</a>" — and tested how funny Gen Z students found them. Turns out, they were into them. She concluded, "We can be over 99% confident that there is a present relationship between absurdist humor content in meme stills and how humorous they are rated by Generation Z students."</p><p><a href="https://profiles.cardiff.ac.uk/research-staff/hamert" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Thom Hamer</a>, a doctoral researcher in philosophy at Cardiff University and University of Southampton, who published his thesis "<a href="https://philpapers.org/archive/HAMACO-13.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">A Critique of Humoristic Absurdism</a>," in 2020, agrees. He told Insider a form of absurdist humor can involve the juxtaposition of two ideas, where there is a clear set-up that rapidly goes in a completely unexpected direction to evoke a humorous response, something that is present in many Gen Z jokes.</p><p>A good example of is the "<a href="https://www.insider.com/inventor-grimace-shake-trend-reveals-how-thought-idea-2023-7">Grimace Shake</a>" trend which took over TikTok in June, where creators filmed themselves taking a casual sip from the purple McDonald's drink, before the video bluntly cut to them in strange positions like <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@racoon.playz/video/7248465054943759658?lang=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">passed out on top of a car</a>, <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@kaden_bennett_/video/7249566353890233642?lang=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dragged through a sewer</a>, or <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@aydenmekus/video/7249619084181048619?lang=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">trapped behind metal bars</a>. On the face of it, it makes no sense, but in a way, that's the joke.</p> <p>Then there's anti-humor, which appears to set up a joke, only to reveal there is no joke, which in itself becomes the joke, like a <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/wholesomememes/comments/nxdyev/i_may_not_show_it/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wholesome meme</a> that shows text laid over an image of a person in meme format, but actually offers up a sincere message and no apparent gag.</p><p>Hamer said this type of humor isn't strictly new, but "those kinds of jokes get maybe intensified by Gen Z," who are creating their own rules as "a response to the outdated forms of humor" and eschew the classic set-up and punchline formula.</p><p>"The absence of a punchline is what constitutes the punchline, and that's something I think you see a lot in Gen Z humor," Hamer told Insider. People are sharing ideas for 'Marvel Universe Songs' and the results are highly amusing

<p>This year's big Marvel movie will be "Guardians of the Galaxy."</p>
<p>While we've already seen some <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/thor-2-captain-america-winter-soldier-guardians-galaxy-marvel-concept-art-2013-7" target="_blank">concept art for the film</a>, <span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;">Disney and Marvel released the first official photo still for the film ahead of New Years. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.5em;"><span>The film will follow a team of aliens played by </span><span>Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Racoon), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), and Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer).</span></span></p>

<p class="p1">Earlier this week, Gunn posted an image of a painting from artist <a href="http://www.chrisfossart.com/">Chris Foss</a> which the director said inspired his "Guardians of the Galaxy" team the most.</p>

<p class="p1">Here's how he explains the painting's inspiration and what happened during that meeting:</p>
<p class="p1" style="padding-left: 30px;">Yellow is an underused color in films, especially science-fiction and fantasy films. In Guardians, I used it as a signifier of change, rebirth, and redemption - the yellow prison uniforms, Drax drowning in the yellow spinal fluid, the yellow Groot spores, and the yellow interlocking Nova Corps net... I believe color is a part of what made Guardians successful. When so many huge, spectacle films have the beige color palette of Saw, the brain becomes thirsty for color. We were that technicolor pitcher of water at the edge of the summer desert.</p>

<p class="p1" style="padding-left: 30px;">This doesn't mean all movies should be colorful, just that color in general is important, and too much of one thing is boring. <p class="p1" style="padding-left: 30px;">Anyway, this painting, along with other Chris Foss works, was a part of my original presentation to Marvel when I pitched myself as director and I explained the visual direction I was going to take with the film. They were immediately on board, and we ended up hiring Chris Foss to help design some of the spaceships in the film. He was, of everyone, my biggest visual inspiration on Guardians.</p>

<p>The opening of the "Guardians" makes it very clear that Star-Lord Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) took a lot of his cues from the globe trotting archaeologist and adventurer, Indiana Jones.</p>
<p>This can be seen by how Quill stares at the mysterious orb artifact in the film, much like how Dr. Jones does with the golden idol in the beginning of 1981's "<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082971/?ref_=nv_sr_1">Raiders of the Lost Ark.</a>"</p>

<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">In the film's production notes, executive producer Nik Korda explains how the duo's motion capture performances helps the final CG versions of the characters come together. </span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">"It's very important for the animators to see a real-life person performing in the right lighting environment, on the right set, to see how they move, their reach, and so on," says Korda. "Even though it is Sean down on his haunches, it gives us all a sense of the attitude, and Krystian gives us a sense of Groot's lumbering movements, which help create the animated performance."</span></p>

<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">"The reason the filmmakers wanted these is because they take them onto the set and they put them in little chairs and they put them next to the doors and it gives them a good indication of where visual effects needs to pick up and whether Rocket can actually reach certain things or use certain devices," explains White. "Also they offer them up to the camera at the end of the shot and it just gives them an extra little hint of the lighting because they're actually painted exactly as they want."</span></p>
