MassMutual Ventures also participated in this round. The company will use the latest funding to further strengthen its global reach, especially in the United States of America (USA) and Europe. The company also wants to further intensify product development for critical care and community diagnostics. Founded by Prashant Warrier and Dr. Pooja Rao in 2016, Qure.ai has developed a technology that reads a patient's X-rays and other scans to detect brain trauma and diagnoses chest diseases. The company had also implemented the same technology to detect COVID-19. The company believes that its automated medical imaging tools can shorten the time to diagnosis, while enabling physicians to manage medical cases more effectively. The company had also implemented the<a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/news/a-small-hospital-assam-is-using-ai-to-detect-strokes-in-tea-planters/articleshow/84194042.cms"> same technology in a small hospital in the Tezpur town </a>of Assam to detect strokes and concussions in the region. Strokes are one of the <a href="https://www.hindustantimes.com/health/haemorrhagic-stroke-rate-highest-in-india-s-northeastern-states/story-2A4TFEVpDvE34HAgqMaDLP.html">major causes</a> of death in the Assamese region. About 150 people are affected by strokes in Assam every day and 54,890 on a yearly basis, according to a <a href="https://www.sentinelassam.com/guwahati-city/stroke-affects-54890-every-year-in-assam-gnrc/">study</a> released by a local hospital GNRC in 2018. The company’s chief exec (CEO) Warrier explained that there are two parts to their artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled deep learning solution — the gateway and the application programming interface (API). The gateway are the x-ray machines, the computed tomography (CT) scan machines, ultrasound machines and others that collect the inputs from the healthcare centres and transfer it to the cloud. The API, then, scans, processes and creates a radiology report based on their algorithm. The report is then sent to the patients and the doctors directly. Notably, the company anonymises all the data before sending it from gateway to API to maintain users’ privacy. Qure's AI solutions are FDA-approved, CE-certified, and evaluated by the World Health Organization (WHO). "Every year our technology helps more than four million people across 50 countries. Our goal is to continue being bullish in our market expansion, especially in the US and Europe. We are committed to aiding healthcare professionals in diagnosing illnesses faster and with more detail and accuracy while automating most of the routine work,” Warrier said in a statement. Qure.ai raises $40 million to expand its presence in US and Europe

AI startup Fractal is now a unicorn after raising $360 million funding from TPG

New Delhi, British-Swedish pharmaceutical firm <keyword id="6409874" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="astrazeneca">AstraZeneca</keyword> on Monday announced a a partnership with Mumbai-based <keyword id="6327028" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="qure-ai">Qure.ai</keyword>, a healthcare startup to integrate innovative artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for the <keyword id="67767" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Early-detection">early detection</keyword> of lung cancer in patients across India. AstraZeneca and Qure.ai will be covering the emerging market regions in Latin America, Asia, Middle East and Africa. The partnership aims to harness and scale-up the use of this technology to improve early-stage detection of lung cancer in the markets involved, to reduce mortality rates and improve patient outcomes. As part of the strategic collaboration, AstraZeneca will work with Qure.ai to explore the application of deep learning algorithms to identify patients with <keyword id="10393689" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="suspicious-radiographic-lung-abnormalities">suspicious radiographic lung abnormalities</keyword> and support their referral to arrive at a firm diagnosis. Prashant <keyword id="1967905" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Warrier">Warrier</keyword>, co-founder and chief executive of Qure.ai, tells Business Insider that India has about 15,000 radiologists as of 2021 and they are usually concentrated in the metro or Tier I cities. This leads to people from suburban areas to either travel long distances to go to a healthcare facility or hospitals to rely on third-party radiologists. Both these solutions are not only inconvenient, but also not efficient. Dr. Jemin J Webster of the Baptist Christian Hospital highlights that they used to rely on tele-radiology services that took about two hours to get readings of routine scans and about half-an-hour to one hour to get reading on emergency cases. While the doctors too are self sufficient to handle such delays, but a quick reading can make a huge difference. The matters related to strokes and concussions are highly sensitive, as millions of brain cells are dying per minute. Even a delay of a few minutes can cause body functions like walking or talking to shut down. Therefore, Qure.ai decided to integrate its qER technology in Baptist Christian Hospital, a 130-bed secondary care hospital by non-profit Emmanuel Hospital Association of New Delhi. How does the qER actually work? The analysed reports are uploaded into the system also, and one more good thing is that they have integrated with messaging app Telegram. So whenever a CT for a patient is done, it comes with an alert on Telegram. The company has trained their deep learning algorithms with a large as well as diverse data bank sourced from research labs. The company also publishes its accuracy rate on a regular basis, peer review publications and keeps updating its technology often. Qure.ai has received US’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Europe’s CE certifications to validate this technology. Qure.ai has been using the same technology, with few variations, to detect tuberculosis and lung infections as well. Even the <keyword id="6356311" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="World-Health-Organisation">World Health Organisation</keyword> (WHO) has <a href="https://apps.who.int/iris/bitstream/handle/10665/340255/9789240022676-eng.pdf">validated</a> that Qure.AI’s tuberculosis diagnostic software can replace human specialists in its annual Integrated Tuberculosis Screening Guidelines. The use cases of the technology can be further expanded to diagnose other health issues by training the algorithm, Dr Rao added. AI can essentially aid medical staff Over the last year, the company’s qXR technology is also being used to detect COVID-19 across the world and also carried out operations in remote parts of Maharashtra as well as Jharkhand. CEO Warrier added that Qure.ai’s lung X-Ray system, when coupled with other metrics oxygen saturation, temperature and more, can be used to diagnose COVID-19 in areas where RT-PCR tests are not available. He noted that even In India, the quality of care is much higher in big hospitals like Apollo and others, as they have quality radiologists. The quality of healthcare gets even better in high income countries. “The value [for such AI solutions] for a place like Assam is very different because they don't have a radiologist on duty and for them interpreting that scan is very challenging. You are basically asking somebody who's not a radiologist to interpret the scan and correspondingly act on that patient during surgery, administering a blood thinner or something like that. The value in Assam, or Africa or Southeast Asian countries is tremendous because we can help those non-radiologists interpret x-rays or CT scans without necessarily getting radiologist input, ” he added. A team of researchers led by Professor Alastair Denniston from the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust in the United Kingdom conducted a study in 2019, to determine whether AI can diagnose illnesses as effectively as healthcare professionals. The study <a href="https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/326460#AI-on-a-par-with-healthcare-professionals">noted</a> that AI correctly diagnoses diseases in 87% of the cases, whereas detection by healthcare professionals yielded an 86% accuracy rate. The specificity for deep learning algorithms was 93%, compared with humans’ at 91%. Qure.ai has raised about $16 million to date from Sequoia Capital India and MassMutual Ventures Southeast Asia. It has marked its presence across 450 sites across 40 countries over the years. His plan advocates that real humans can post $20 using the network that will get treated like a security deposit. Genuine accounts will get an orange tick mark next to their name, whereas bad actors will be forced to forfeit their security deposit — a possible revenue stream for Twitter. While the idea is different from other suggestions made in the past, Twitter users are divided over whether something like this would have the desired impact. Orange tick marks will add a barrier to entry In theory, having a mechanism where bots can be separated from real humans, is not only something that’s desired but required. However, one of the biggest appeals of a platform like Twitter is that it's free to use. You could be a retiree, a housewife, a student, or anyone without a fixed income and still access a network where one can speak their mind, free of charge. <ul><li><keyword id="35210" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sebi" source="Orion">SEBI</keyword> has asked bankers of <keyword id="53343" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ruchi-soya" source="Orion">Ruchi Soya</keyword> to allow investors to withdraw their bids in its follow-on public offer (FPO).</li><li>Also, asked the firm to send SMS to all applicants cautioning them about "circulation of unsolicited SMS" about the share sale.</li><li>On the other hand, the Baba Ramdev-led company has denied sending advertising messages to users and also filed an FIR against it.</li><li>However, should investors be worried about the move and take their bids back? Here are the details on the matter.</li></ul>Yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Group firm Ruchi Soya Industries just caught itself in a tangle with markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). The regulator has taken a rare step allowing investors to withdraw their bids from Ruchi Soya’s follow-on public offer (FPO). So what happened? The market regulator has found Baba Ramdev-owned company sending unsolicited promotional messages to its users to invest in its company Ruchi Soya’s shares through its FPO. According to a report by Mint, the message reads like this -- “Great news for all beloved members of Patanjali parivar. A good investment opportunity in Patanjali Group. Patanjali Group company—Ruchi Soya Industries Ltd—has opened the follow-on public offer (FPO) for retail investors. The issue closes on 28 March 2022. This is available in the price band— ₹615-650 per share , i.e., discount of about 30% to market price. You can apply for shares through your bank/ broker/ ASBA/UPI in your demat account". As soon as SEBI found this, it asked Ruchi Soya to open a window to allow applicants to withdraw their bids if they want, thinking many investors may have invested in the influence of the SMS. Not only did SEBI allow investors to withdraw bids, it directed the lead banking managers of the FPO to issue a notice to all investors in the form of newspaper advertisements, cautioning them about the circulation of such unsolicited SMSes, on Tuesday and Wednesday. Along with it, SEBI even directed to add the procedure for withdrawal by applications in the newspaper advertisements. The strong move by SEBI was to protect investors from investing under influence. An SMS has also been sent to all the applicants informing them about the additional window provided to withdraw their bids. Apparently, this is not the first time Ruchi Soya had an issue with the regulator. In October 2021, Baba Ramdev urged his audience to invest in Ruchi Soya stock during a yoga session. Later the video went viral, initiating a warning from SEBI. About <keyword id="10281652" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ruchi-soya-fpo" source="Orion">Ruchi Soya FPO</keyword> The company came up with FPO to pay off huge debt and thereby cutting promoter shareholding in the company in compliance with SEBI norms. The company is one of the leading fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) brands in the Indian edible oil sector and also one of the largest manufacturers of soya foods. Should Ruchi Soya investors be worried? “They (Ruchi Soya) are now planning to rebuild the price. Although all of this may be a conspiracy since they already know the rules, I believe they are mature enough to get out of such a situation,” Ravi Singhal, vice chairman of GCL securities Limited said. What does Ruchi Soya have to say on this? The Baba Ramdev led company has denied sending advertising messages to users and also filed a first information report (FIR) against the circulation of unsolicited SMS advertising the company's FPO. “We understand that there are SMS/messages in circulation in social media, speculating about investment in our Company’s issue and about equity shares of our Company being available at discount to market price (“Message”). We wish to bring to attention of the investors that this message has not been issued by company or any of our Directors, Promoters, Promoter Group or Group Companies,” the company said in a BSE statement. SEBI allows investors to withdraw bids in Ruchi Soya FPO. Should applicants be worried?

New Delhi, June 29 (IANS) The COVID-19 onslaught has accelerated the pace of IT modernisation and digital transformation via Cloud-driven solutions in the vast public sector in India and various state governments are fast embracing the Cloud technology to reduce the infection rate while efficiently managing the lockdown, a top global Amazon Web Services (AWS) executive has stressed. According to Teresa Carlson, Vice President, Worldwide Public Sector, AWS (the Cloud arm of e-commerce giant Amazon with over $40 billion annual run rate), as COVID-19 continues to spread, the global health emergency will only be resolved by governments, businesses, academia and individuals working together to better understand this virus and ultimately find a cure. "Research institutes, scientists and organisations working on diagnostics need reliable, scalable compute power, which AWS can deliver to them along with industry-leading services like analytics and machine learning, so they can process and analyse large data sets and iterate quickly," Carlson told IANS. Today, from state governments to startups, India is fast harnessing AWS Cloud technology for scale, speed and agility and above all, data security. Quantela, a provider of smart urban infrastructure automation, has developed CoVER (COVID-19 emergency response) platform in India. "CoVER is used by government authorities across 10 cities in India to monitor, manage, track, diagnose, communicate, collaborate and prevent the impact of COVID-19. In one of the large cities in southern India that has so far reported far fewer COVID-19 cases, they used CoVER to track about 120 hospitals, 600 ambulances, and 400 isolation beds, and monitor people in quarantine," informed Carlson. The officials attributed real-time access to data and quick decision-making as among the key measures that helped the city contain the spread of COVID-19 even in densely-populated areas, and significantly helping reduce the infection rate in the city. The India eGovernments Foundation collaborated with AWS to develop the National COVID-19 e-Pass solution within 72 hours to provide a digital pass management system that supports multiple state governments, to manage the lockdown while ensuring smooth movement of the essential service providers across and within states. "Since its launch, more than 50,000 organizations have been evaluated, and more than 6,00,000 daily passes have been issued on the platform. It has been deployed in Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Telangana, Puducherry, Odisha and Karnataka," the AWS executive noted. TruFactor is a platform that provides mobile-first consumer data and insights. The company has a patented platform that ingests, filters, and processes over 100TB of data anonymously, using AI to produce graphs that combine digital signals, physical people movement data, and demographics to help tackle spread of COVID-19. TruFactor has listed datasets on AWS Data Exchange, a service that makes it easy for millions of AWS customers worldwide to securely find, subscribe, and use third-party data in the cloud. Innovaccer, a San Francisco-based healthcare technology company, with offices in India and Asia, launched a COVID-19 Management System that can conduct early community-based triage of COVID-19 patients through automated assessments in minutes. The multi-platform system is currently in use by the governments in Goa and Puducherry in India. Within three days of launch, more than 25,000 citizens in Goa had already used the app to assess their vulnerability to COVID-19. Mumbai-based Qure.ai, a healthcare startup built on AWS, has developed a machine learning-powered solution called 'qXR' which uses X-rays to classify patients as high, medium, or low risk for COVID-19 in less than a minute. Built on data from more than 2.5 million radiology scans, qXR is capable of detecting problem areas and abnormalities that are indicative of COVID-19. Since its deployment in over 40 sites across South Asia, Europe and North America, it is identifying approximately 5,000 suspected cases on a weekly basis. Qure.ai is currently in talks with the state governments to use its solution in government hospitals, large clinics and healthcare centres across the country. AWS announced the Diagnostic Development Initiative (DDI) in March this year. "This is a programme to support customers who are working to bring better, more accurate, diagnostics solutions to market faster, and promote better collaboration across organizations that are working on similar problems," Carlson told IANS. This includes an initial investment of $20 million to accelerate diagnostic research, innovation, and development to speed collective understanding and detection of COVID-19 and other innovative diagnostic solutions to mitigate future infectious disease outbreaks.
