She has become the first Bollywood actress to star as the main lead in an American TV show.

Watch Priyanka Chopra as an FBI Agent in the trailer of Quantico

It’s been long that we heard anything about Priyanka Chopra’s American TV Show Quantico, in which she plays Alex Parrish, a young FBI recruit undergoing hardcore training. 
 
The actress who was till now busy promoting her movie Dil Dhadakne Do took to social networking site Twitter to share another glimpse of her character from the anticipated show.

The trailer shows a shackled Priyanka wrapped in a flag with the logo of FBI National Academy, and the voice over claims her to be “World’s Most Wanted”. 
 
Hot, to say the least. Even though Dil Dhadakne Do didn’t live up to the expectations, we hope that this new project of Bollywood’s very own beauty queen shines in the American sky.

Finally! Priyanka Chopra, now ‘World’s Most Wanted’ in new Quantico trailer

The first eight minutes of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/How-ABCs-Scandal-Gets-2200-Tweets-Per-Minute/articleshow/21370581.cms">ABC’s</a> latest offering <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Watch-Priyanka-Chopra-as-an-FBI-Agent-in-the-trailer-of-Quantico/articleshow/47264370.cms">Quantico</a> is out and it’s clichéd as hell. 
 Created by Joshua Safran, <keyword id="253731" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Quantico">Quantico</keyword> traces the lives of a group of young FBI recruits, training at the FBI Training Academy in Quantico, Virginia. 
The lead is played by one of Bollywood’s finest <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Priyanka-Chopra-releases-first-look-of-Jai-GangaaJal-on-Prakash-Jhas-request/articleshow/48984128.cms">Priyanka Chopra</a> who essays the role of <keyword id="2845440" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Alex-Parrish">Alex Parrish</keyword>. 
 
The thriller is slated to go on air from the 27th of September, but the makers decided to go ahead and give us a sneak-peak by releasing the first eight minutes of the first episode, because a trailer’s just not enough. 
 The episode starts out with familarising us with <keyword id="1655" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Priyanka-Chopra">Priyanka Chopra</keyword>’s character lying face down amidst wreckage and it then cuts to the past where we are shown Piggy Chops lying to her mother like a true American daughter about going to the station, but instead heading out to the airport. 
 
In the plane, Priyanka Chopra’s Alex Parrish flirts with a stranger, Ryan Booth with whom she hooks up with in a car, presumably a few minutes after the plane lands. Have to admit, girl’s got her priorities in place. 
 
The stranger, like all other guys in the universe, gets a little too curious and asks Priyanka her name to which he is shown his place when she unwilling to reveal her identity uncovers everything about him, and more in just five points. This scene is easily the best and then only watchable scene in the eight minutes of ‘Have we not seen this in every crime thriller ever?’ also known as Quantico. 
 
However, Chopra soon finds out that the elusive stranger turns out to be her new classmate in the training academy. Awkward alert. 
 
We also get a brief introduction into the lives of the other recruits and we’re intrigued by what Nimah Anwar’s (played by Yasmin Al Marsi) backstory is. 
 
All in all, the first eight minutes of Quantico reveals nothing that we haven’t seen before except Priyanka Chopra trying really hard to fit. Her accent does sounds believable, her acting not quite. And, she looks straight out of Dostana, for some reason. 
 
The icing on the cake however, is the last scene which takes us back to a bruised Priyanka Chopra lying amidst the wreckage and turns out it’s a site of an explosion. 
 
Totally did not guess that.

 What’s common amongst the two, you might ask? In both the avatars, Chopra has shed the “Miss Goody two shoes” image and can be seen with a gun in her hands. That’s exactly what Priyanka has been doing in the recent past, refusing to do what everyone else from her contemporaries is doing and being up for the challenge of playing an action hero, probably the first one in <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword>. 
 
Let’s look at her stint as SP Abha Mathur, and since the movie is freshly out of the oven, we only have the trailers to draw references from. In the trailer, her introductory scene shows her with a wooden protective shield that has been put on fire by protestors. She looks stern, determined and when she takes out a bamboo stick from her police jeep and beats criminals black and blue, that’s when we know that she means business as the SP of Bankepur. 
 
In the second trailer, she invokes courage in common people to step up for what’s right, with some kicks and slaps usual for policewomen, though highly unusual for the leading ladies of Bollywood, who so far have believed only in being the damsels of distress, barring a few scenes here and there in some movies. 
 So, coming back to <keyword id="1078051" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="PeeCee">PeeCee</keyword>, she has established herself in the top league of Indian cinema, and is known worldwide for that; this is no hidden fact. After all, why would she be invited to present an Oscar, being only the second Indian to do so, after Miss India Persis Khambatta in 1980? 
 
She has been doing everything that we expect a mainstream Indian male actor to do to make Bollywood and India proud. She is acting well in critically acclaimed movies, the last one being Bajirao Mastani where she made her presence felt even though she was the second lead after Deepika Padukone; she is going beyond the borders, being the first Indian to be cast in a primetime TV show by an American production company, and Quantico’s success is the stamp of her being accepted. Not only this, she has also signed up for the role of antagonist Victoria Leeds in the next Baywatch movie, alongwith Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. 
 
So, in a time when most Bollywood actors are either working on nonsensical but mega budget projects only to be hooted by intelligent audience and critics, let’s take a moment and thank Priyanka Chopra for showing that even females can be the heroes, and top ones at that.

Priyanka Chopra is Bollywood's Hero No.1

Granted, this is going to be the hundredth article you’ll come across pointing out the weaknesses of the show, but before you decide to close the link accompanied by that feeling of déjà vu, hear us out. 
 This article is going to be a critique of the reasons behind <keyword id="253731" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Quantico">Quantico</keyword> being the easy target of mass disapproval; however what this article is not going to be is a display of demeaning the potential of <keyword id="1655" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Priyanka-Chopra">Priyanka Chopra</keyword>, who plays the lead. 
 
Priyanka Chopra isn’t what’s wrong with Quantico. (Well, not entirely). Where the show falls flat is in its execution of its far-fetched ideas. Agreed, Priyanka Chopra as <keyword id="2845440" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Alex-Parrish">Alex Parrish</keyword> is not at her best- at times even reprising the role of a borderline annoying lead that you really cannot really root for. Her scenes with Ryan Booth (her romantic interest in the show) where she tries her best to be seductive yet playful is testimony to the fact. Her terrible hairstyle doesn’t help either. 
 
But, in our haste to critically point how bad Priyanka Chopra is as Alex Parrish, we completely forget to address how bad Quantico is at being a FBI thriller/drama show. 
 
The storyline is your typical run-of-the-mill noble FBI agent being framed as a terrorist and her trying to escape arrest while trying to find out who framed her. The characters are nothing remarkable either, barring a few (Chopra’s character being the biggest disappointment). Though the plot has been successful in beating around the bush till now, it has been unsuccessfully repeating same old sub-plots that really don’t need reminding at the same time (Case in point- Priyanka’s father situation). 
 
And, add to that, the fact that every FBI training exercise in the show is so ridiculous that it continues making CID look better and better. (If that’s not a problem, what is?) 
 
I’ve been unimpressed by Quantico since it’s trailer and yet I’ve faithfully consumed all of its offerings. Right from the first eight minutes of the first episode until the fourth (titled ‘Kill’), I’ve followed every episode with utmost glee. This is the only area where Quantico wins. Despite being a pretty average show, it is able to maintain a steady viewership solely because of those five minutes of absolutely gripping storyline out of the 40 minute runtime that has us hooked. 
 
The problem is thus, Quantico is a show that has all the pieces of the puzzle, but has unfortunately not managed to solve the puzzle as of yet. 
 
That is the tragedy. That is why Quantico is above average and not the show that we expected in our heads.

Here’s what’s wrong with Quantico and no, it’s not

Paramount Pictures"Baywatch."At its peak in the mid-1990s, "Baywatch" was the most-watched TV show in the world thanks to its cheesy storylines and showcasing <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9UPh7KKyfs" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">scantily clad ladies</a> (well, plus <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZU3sGyGnrro" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">David Hasselhoff</a>) running in slow motion on the beach.It wasn't a great show, but it did the trick if you needed to kill time.That's kind of how Paramount's long-awaited "Baywatch" movie (opening in theaters on Thursday) can be explained. It's going to be a hell of a watch when it comes on HBO, but you should get your head examined if you pay to watch it at the theater.Yes, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is the biggest movie star on the planet right now, but even he can't make this lame comedy into something worth your money - though, to his credit, he tries really, really hard.Paramount certainly swung for the fences with this. They cast Johnson and Zac Efron together to play two lifeguards who take their jobs way too seriously and try to bust a drug kingpin ("Quantico" star Priyanka Chopra) after her potent product washes up on their beach. It's not the worst plot for an R-rated comedy (if you took the beach component away, you have the plot for the movie version of "21 Jump Street"). But audiences don't come to these movies for plot. There need to be big laughs, the wackier the better.And like The Rock, the movie tries really, really, really hard to deliver a gut-busting comedy (the filmmakers even put Efron in drag), but too much effort can kill humor, and that's what happens here.A big problem is the movie doesn't really go out of its way to offer original material. Low-hanging fruit include distracting the villain by dancing funny; the not-so-bright heartthrob; and jokes about male and female anatomy (the movie even blatantly rips off the zipper scene from "There's Something About Mary").Sure, you might get a chuckle or two, but you have to come stronger in the seen-it-all-before era we live in today.And there is just some awful CGI. I mean, you have The Rock in your movie, and he's going to do some crazy life-saving scenes. The Rock can't save the unfunny 'Baywatch' movie

The song is about a man falling in love with another man, so the singer's choreographer wanted to have two men dancing with each other in the performance. But <a href="http://www.tmz.com/2015/11/12/dwts-gay-dancers-abc/" target="_blank">TMZ</a> reported that ABC wasn't having it.According to the site's sources, a "DWTS" producer responded to the choreographer's request via email: "Apologies all but this is a definitive no from the network."
