Allu Arjun-starrer "Pushpa: The Rise" has collected over 10 million Rubles at the box office in <keyword id="6358826" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="russia" source="Orion">Russia</keyword>, the makers said on Monday. The <keyword id="13104" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="telugu" source="Orion">Telugu</keyword> blockbuster was released in the Russian language in 774 screens across the country on December 8, said Mythri Movie Makers on its official Twitter page. "#PushpaTheRise is a RAGE in Russia. 25 days and counting of a successful run in 774 screens with a collection of over 10M Rubles," the production banner said in the tweet. Ten million Rubles amount to approximately Rs 13 crore. Also starring Rashmika Mandanna, "Pushpa: The Rise" depicts the rise of a low-wage labourer (Arjun) in the smuggling syndicate of red sandalwood, a rare wood that grows only in the Seshachalam Hills of <keyword id="37102" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="andhra-pradesh" source="Orion">Andhra Pradesh</keyword> state. It was released in India in association with Muttamsetty Media on December 17, 2021, and went on to become one of the biggest money-spinners of the year earning over Rs 350 crore. The film also opened the fifth edition of the Indian Film Festival in Russia on December 1. 'Pushpa: The Rise' raises 10 million Rubles at Russia box office

Talking about the August release 'Pushpa 2: The Rule', Arjun said: "You can definitely expect part three, we do want to make it a franchise and we have exciting ideas for the lineup." "A sizzle reel from the Pushpa franchise is being screened on the sidelines of the Berlin European Film Market in order to seed it as a brand for international audiences. And I think urban Indians are similar to global audiences. So all the things that they have liked in terms of the candidness of the film or the performances, I've got similar feedback from urban audiences in India and overseas," Arjun said. 'Pushpa 2: The Rule' is due to release August 15, during the Indian Independence Day holiday frame. "'Pushpa 2' is going to have a very different shade of Pushpa than what you've seen in 'Pushpa 1,' because it is the lower end of the spectrum that you've seen," Arjun said. "You'll see the highest end of the spectrum in terms of characterisation. So you'll see him on a very high note, you'll see him on a very high scale, in terms of characterisation, in terms of this scale and presentation and the canvas of the problems are going to be much bigger than what it was compared to 'Pushpa 1.' It's going to be a bigger canvas, and there is a different dimension to the characterisation." Towards the end of the first part, the character Pushpa assumes de facto control of the syndicate. "Till then it was playing on a regional scale, now it will play on a national and international scale," Arjun said. Jayalalithaa’s confidant VK <keyword id="6358664" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sasikala">Sasikala</keyword> has been unanimously elected as her successor and will take over as General Secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). 
 
Sasikala, a close friend and confidant of Jayalalithaa, was chosen to head the party. 
 
Reportedly, the General Council body of AIADMK passed the resolution to elect Sasikala Natarajan as the General Secretary almost unanimously. However there were few dissent notes as well. The post fell vacant following the demise of party general secretary and Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa on December 5. 
 
The meeting was attended by over 2000 party workers, but Sasikala wasn’t present there. 
 
Yesterday, clashes broke out between AIADMK workers and supporters of Rajya Sabha member Sasikala Pushpa outside the ruling party's office in Chennai. 
 
Sasikala Pushpa had earlier expressed her wish to contest for the party's general secretary post. Sasikala was expelled from the AIADMK sometime back but did not resign from the Rajya Sabha.

By Shirish B Pradhan Kathmandu, Jun 19 () Nepal and China's ruling communist parties on Friday held a virtual meeting during which they discussed the current political situation and shared their experience on running the party and government. However, according to local media reports, some Nepalese leaders raised questions over the timing of the meeting given the border stand-off between India and China and escalating tension between Kathmandu and New Delhi over Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura. Nepal Communist Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokharel were among senior leaders of the party who took part in the video conference with senior Chinese leaders. During the conference, relations between the two communist parties, the current coronavirus pandemic and the current political situation mainly figured, according to sources close to the NCP. Dahal during the conference reiterated Nepal's commitment to the 'one China' policy regarding Tibet and Taiwan. The Chinese side assured the NCP leaders that China will continue to extend help to Nepal in its fight against the spread of the coronavirus. Party chairman Dahal said that Nepal will not accept any foreign assistance that is linked to foreign security interests. Dahal's statement comes at a time when there is hot debate going on within the ruling NCP about whether to accept the US' economic assistance under the MCC (Millennium Challenge Corporation) which is linked to the US's Indo-Pacific Strategy. According to a report in the Kathmandu Post, a central member of the NCP, on the condition of anonymity, said he was wondering if the timing for the meeting is right, given the border India-China military tension and souring of the relationship between Kathmandu and New Delhi over Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura areas. Former foreign minister Kamal Thapa said that such a meeting was objectionable. "Objectionable, a neo-colonial practice," Thapa, also the chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, wrote on Twitter. "What will happen if other political parties also start receiving training and financial assistance from foreign parties whom they are comfortable with? Is it an attempt to make Nepal a playground for international forces?" Nepal on Thursday completed the process of redrawing the country's political map through a Constitutional amendment, incorporating three strategically important Indian areas in a move that could severely jolt bilateral relations. India has already termed as "untenable" the "artificial enlargement" of the territorial claims by Nepal after its lower house of Parliament on Saturday unanimously approved the new political map of the country featuring Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura areas which India maintains belong to it. Meanwhile, Nepal's Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali took part in the high-level video conference on "Belt and Road International Cooperation: Combating COVID-19 with Solidarity" chaired by Chinese Foreign Minister and State Councillor Wang Yi. On the occasion, Gyawali underlined that mutual support and collective efforts and the cooperation from multilateral institutions are vital in combating the COVID- 19 pandemic. The WHO should be strengthened further and supported with core resources and technologies to promote international cooperation, he said. Appreciating the role played by BRI in playing high-quality development in the partner countries, he underscored the importance of the new initiative of Health Silk Road under BRI aimed at facilitating trade in anti-epidemic medical supplies and enhancing cooperation in fighting infectious diseases. Ruling communist parties of Nepal, China hold virtual meeting

Facing growing demand for his resignation, Nepal's embattled Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli has said that the ruling communist party is facing a grave crisis, indicating that it may split soon, according to a media report on Sunday. Oli, at an emergency meeting of the Cabinet at his official residence, told the Cabinet ministers that "some of our party members are also trying to remove President Bidya Devi Bhandari from the power," My Republica newspaper quoted a senior leader as saying. "Now, conspiracies are being hatched to remove me from the post of prime minister and party chairman," the prime minister said on Saturday, adding that he will not let it happen. The ruling party is facing a grave crisis, Oli said. After Oli's remarks about the conspiracy to impeach the president, three former prime ministers -- Pushpa Kamal Dahal '<keyword id="12695" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Prachanda">Prachanda</keyword>', Madhav Nepal and Jhanalanth Khanal -- met Bhandari and clarified that the rumour about <keyword id="9401461" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="the-nepal-communist-party">the Nepal Communist Party</keyword> (NCP) leaders trying to remove her from office were untrue, The Kathmandu Post reported. On Saturday, a crucial meeting of the NCP's 45-member powerful Standing Committee to decide the political future of Oli was postponed until Monday to allow more time for the top leadership to iron out their differences over his style of functioning and anti-India statements. During the Cabinet meeting, a defiant Oli said that he will not be forced to accept the party's Standing Committee decision. He also urged the ministers to make their position clear whether they support him or not. "I had to make a quick decision to prorogue the budget session of Parliament last week after coming to know that some of our party members were hatching conspiracy to register an impeachment motion against the President at Parliament," Oli told the ministers. Surya Thapa, the prime minister's press aide, said that the prime minister invited the ministers to share the latest political developments in the country. Prior to the meeting, Oli held a one-on-one meeting with President Bhandari at her office in Maharajgunj. Oli's statement comes at a time when the intra-party rift in the NCP is at its peak after majority of the party's Standing Committee members and Central Secretariat members demanded his immediate resignation from the post of Prime Minister and party chairman, accusing the government of failing to live up to the people's expectations. He has accused NCP executive chairman Prachanda of non-cooperation in running the government while Prachanda is accusing Oli of imposing hegemony in the party. Prime Minister Oli, 68, last week claimed that there have been various kinds of activities in the "embassies and hotels" to remove him from power. He said some Nepalese leaders were also involved in the plot after his government redrew the country's political map by incorporating three strategically key Indian territories -- Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura. Raising baseless accusations against India and leaders of his own party by the Prime Minister was not appropriate, a senior leader of the party quoted Prachanda as saying during the Standing Committee meeting last week. Prachanda has time and again spoken about the lack of coordination between the government and the party and he was pressing for a one-man one position system to be followed by the NCP. The differences between the two factions of the NCP -- one led by Oli and the other led by Prachanda -- intensified after the prime minister unilaterally decided to prorogue the budget session of Parliament last week. In May 2018, when Oli and Dahal announced formation of the Nepal Communist Party, they had reached a gentleman's agreement to lead the government in turn, two-and-a-half years each. But according to the November 2019 agreement, Oli would lead the government for the full five-year term and Dahal would run the party as "executive chairman". Dahal has maintained that Oli failed to uphold the spirit of the November 2019 agreement, hence he should abide by the May 2018 gentleman's agreement, making way for him to lead the government.
