The state-owned bank had earned a net profit of Rs 506.03 crore in the year-ago period. However, total income during October-December 2021 declined to Rs 22,026.02 crore as against Rs 23,298.53 crore in the year-ago period, PNB said in a regulatory filing. Punjab National Bank's net profit more than doubles to ₹1,127 crore

New Delhi, Mar 16 () Capital markets regulator Sebi has sought clarifications from merchant bankers of the proposed initial public offering of National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX), which last month filed draft papers to raise an estimated Rs 500 crore. The IPO comprises a fresh issue aggregating up to Rs 100 crore and an offer for sale of up to 1,44,53,774 stocks by shareholders, according to the draft red herring prospectus (DRHP). In an update on March 13, the regulator said it is awaiting response to the clarification sought on March 12 from the lead manager of the public issue. However, details of the clarification sought for the IPO could not be immediately ascertained. The public issue is expected to raise about Rs 500 crore, including from the fresh offering of shares, merchant banking sources said. After BSE and MCX, this would be the third listing by an exchange. Build India Capital Advisors LLP, Canara Bank, Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative, Investcorp Private Equity Fund I are among the selling shareholders. Jaypee Capital Services, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Oman India Joint Investment Fund and Punjab National Bank will also sell their stakes. Some of the key investors in NCDEX include National Stock Exchange of India, Life Insurance Corporation of India and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development. Indian Farmers Fertiliser Co-operative, Oman India Joint Investment Fund (OIJIF), Punjab National Bank, Canara Bank, Build India Capital Advisors LLP, and Investcorp Private Equity Fund I also have stakes in the exchange. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) holds 15 per cent stake in the leading agricultural commodity exchange, while LIC and NABARD have 11.10 per cent each, IFFCO 10 per cent, OIJIF 10 per cent and Punjab National Bank 7.29 per cent, among others, according the DRHP. NCDEX has proposed to utilise the net proceeds towards contribution to the core settlement guarantee fund, net worth requirements of National Commodity Clearing Limited and general corporate purposes, as per the document. The book running lead managers to the offer are ICICI Securities and SBI Capital Markets. ICICI Securities is the coordinating lead manager for the issue. The exchange offers services across the entire post-harvest agricultural commodities value chain by utilising a varied presence, which has enabled it to create a wide network of stakeholders and market participants. It also engages in research, training and building awareness in agricultural commodities market through NCDEX Institute of Commodity Markets and Research. Bhushan Power and Steel is awaiting resolution at the National Company Law Tribunal. PNB informed the stock exchanges on Saturday that it had written to RBI sharing its findings from a forensic report-- nearly ₹3,805.15 crore had been swindled away by the now-insolvent Bhushan Power and Steel Ltd (BPSL). The company has already set aside half of the amount from its profits to cover for the loss, if any, as per the prescribed prudential norms. However, the share price has lost nearly the entire amount in market capitalisation as investors rued the lack of adequate checks and balances. The company had "misappropriated funds and manipulated books of accounts to raise funds from consortium lender banks", PNB said. In February 2018, the ₹13,500-crore scam involving diamantaires Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi had come to light at the PNB. It is one of the first 12 accounts identified by the RBI for insolvency proceedings. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), India's premier investigative agency, is already probing Bhushan Power and Steel for alleged lapses in governance. "At present, the case is in advance stage at the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and the bank expects good recovery in the account," PNB said. The State Bank of India (<keyword id="13222" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SBI">SBI</keyword>) has approved a 10-for-one stock split. SBI will decrease the face value of each equity share to one rupee from 10 rupees now, it said in a regulatory filing. 
 Another PSU Punjab National Bank and <keyword id="42456" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="ICICI">ICICI</keyword> Bank, too, had given nod to stock splits this month. Prior to the announcement, SBI shares closed 2.7% down at 2,486.35 rupees.

The Nifty50 index took nearly 6 months to gain 1,000 points, which is growth of 6.7% from the 15,000 level. So far in 2021, the benchmark index is up by over 14%. The Nifty200 index has also been positive overall, with two out of every three stocks registering an increase today. In the index, 132 stocks registered an increase and 67 stocks declined.
