As the <keyword id="490344" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="holiday-season" source="Orion">holiday season</keyword> has kicked in, the travel and hospitality sector is witnessing a 357 per cent growth in hiring sentiment, breaking the shackles of the pandemic waves last year, according to a report released on Friday. India showed promising signs of economic recovery in May 2022 with hiring across key sectors witnessing an upward year-on-year trajectory and a stable sequential trend. According to the latest Naukri JobSpeak May '22 Index, the surge in hiring activity stays put as it records over 40 per cent y-o-y growth in May. Retail (+175 per cent), real estate (+141 per cent) and insurance (+126 per cent) were among the top sectors that witnessed a significant y-o-y growth in May 2022. Other key sectors that saw an uptick in hiring trends as compared to last year are BFSI (+104 per cent), education (+86 per cent), auto (+69 per cent), oil and gas (+69 per cent), FMCG (+51 per cent) and IT-software/software services (+7 per cent). The demand for talent in metros and non-metros remained steady as all cities indicated a double-digit y-o-y growth in May 2022. Amongst metros, Delhi (63 per cent) registered the highest y-o-y growth closely followed by Mumbai (+61 per cent). <keyword id="6354925" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="kolkata" source="Orion">Kolkata</keyword> (+59 per cent), <keyword id="12864" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="chennai" source="Orion">Chennai</keyword> (+35 per cent), <keyword id="2094" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="pune" source="Orion">Pune</keyword> (+27 per cent), and <keyword id="6354552" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="hyderabad" source="Orion">Hyderabad</keyword> (+23 per cent) also showed positive y-o-y growth. An optimistic hiring sentiment was observed across all tier-II cities with Jaipur leading the y-o-y growth in demand for talent at (+76 per cent). Other emerging cities such as Coimbatore (+64 per cent), Vadodara (+49 per cent), Cochin (+35 per cent), <keyword id="5065" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ahmedabad" source="Orion">Ahmedabad</keyword> (+26 per cent), and <keyword id="6360078" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="chandigarh" source="Orion">Chandigarh</keyword> (+25 per cent) showed double digit y-o-y growth. Further, across all experience levels, the demand for entry-level talent (0-3 years) exhibited the steepest rise of +61 per cent in May 2022 vs May 2021. Moreover, a positive hiring sentiment was observed for other experience brackets such as 4-7 years (+37 per cent), over 16 years (+27 per cent), 13-16 years (+26 per cent) and 8-12 years (+22 per cent). "The recruitment landscape continues to stay resilient and is sustaining the momentum 2022 ushered in. The job market has shown stable sequential trends that are substantially ahead of last year's baselines. The secular nature of trends; cutting across metros as well as non-metros, experienced professionals as well as freshers is again a good indicator of this strong hiring sentiment," said Pawan Goyal, Chief Business Officer, Naukri.com, in a statement. A multi-stage cycle race on the lines of the famous <keyword id="45920" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="tour-de-france" source="Orion">Tour De France</keyword> will be held in February next year in India, its organisers said on Thursday. The race christened 'Hindayan', will get flagged off from New Delhi's National War Memorial, and culminate at <keyword id="2094" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="pune" source="Orion">Pune</keyword> after doing over 1,600 km across multiple days, a statement said. "At present, there is no such sporting event in India. We resolved to create Asia's biggest annual cycling event (on the lines of Tour De France or Giro d'Italia or Vuelta an Espana). This will be unique," <keyword id="3552636" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="vishnudas-chapke" source="Orion">Vishnudas Chapke</keyword>, the organiser of the event, said. Chapke, a former journalist, is the first Indian to circumnavigate the globe by land. There is also an "expedition" format of the cycling event, which will give a chance for commoners or serious amateurs to cycle in Hindayan, he said. As part of the race, 100 cyclists will pedal off from New Delhi on February 5, he said, adding that there will also be foreign cyclists. The name Hindayan is derived from Sanskrit, Chapke said, explaining that "Hind" is the land from the Sindhu River to Sindhu (Indian) Ocean, while "Ayan" means an expedition. The multistage race will halt at many towns and cities, including Agra, <keyword id="6354779" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="jaipur" source="Orion">Jaipur</keyword>, Udaipur, Ahmedabad, Surat, Mumbai, and end in Pune on February 19, the statement said. The racing will happen on the national highways in rural areas, while the event will be in a non-competitive mode in the urban areas which are typically congested, the statement from the organisers said. With the support of the authorities, one lane will be solely dedicated for cycling on the national highways and another lane for ambulances and support vehicles, it said. Chapke plans to make it into an annual feature and has promised to conduct races on a different route in every edition. In 2016, the information technology (IT) industry represented around 58% of the total office demand in India and 41.6 million sq ft of office space was leased in top nine cities. 
 With millennials representing the largest generation in the workforce and an unprecedented focus on new workplace designs, work styles, and work culture; these factors have led to the growth of flexible and specialized workspaces. The coworking industry is mainly dominated by startups followed by media, e-commerce companies and a few corporates and multi-national companies (<keyword id="6362175" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="MNC">MNC</keyword>'s). 
	 
	Currently, coworking operators have a small footprint in India, but they are slowly carving out a significant space in the real estate industry. Flipkart ups its game in e-grocery by expanding to 50 cities as competition rises from JioMart, Amazon and others

The<a href="https://energy.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/power/centre-plans-rs-9000-crore-sops-to-push-eco-friendly-cars/64153472"> scheme</a> will be for citizens who stop using old <keyword id="6367091" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="petrol">petrol</keyword> or <keyword id="6356109" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="diesel">diesel</keyword> vehicles and will be followed by SOPs for manufacturing parts, such as motors, in the country. A certificate from an approved scrapping needs to be submitted to avail the offer. The government is also planning to spend about ₹10 billion for setting up charging stations across the country.  The department of heavy industries (DHI) has submitted a proposal to have at least one charging point in every nine square kilometres in all metros and major cities. There are also plans to set up charging points on both sides of the highway at every 25 km, along the Delhi-Jaipur, Delhi-Chandigarh, Chennai-Bengaluru, and <keyword id="6501329" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="mumbai-pune">Mumbai-Pune</keyword> stretches. In order to reduce the cost of electric vehicles and make them affordable for the general public, the Indian government reportedly plans to spend about ₹58 billion. The incentive being offered will cover over 500,000 electric vehicles and over 80% of these will be two and three-wheelers. The government has also proposed to provide up to 25% subsidy special capital investment to manufacturers of motors, drive, powertrain, and controllers. <a href="https://energy.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/power/centre-plans-rs-9000-crore-sops-to-push-eco-friendly-cars/64153472">According to an Economic Times report,</a> if the same amount was put in improving public transport by deploying buses and running them on cleaner fuel, at least five million eco-friendly busses could be run across the country.

The RBI has been regularly conducting the survey to elicit subjective views of the households on price movement across various cities of the country. The results of the survey are used as inputs for the monetary policy. The July 2020 round of the Inflation Expectations Survey of Households has been launched, the central bank said in a release on Tuesday. Hansa Research Group, Mumbai has been engaged to conduct the survey of this round on behalf of the RBI over telephone instead of the regular personal interview mode in view of the pandemic. "For this purpose, the selected households will be approached by the agency and they are requested to provide their response over telephone," the release said. The survey aims at capturing subjective assessments on price movements and inflation, of approximately 6,000 households, based on their individual consumption baskets, across 18 cities. The cities that would be covered are Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, <keyword id="50863" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bhubaneswar">Bhubaneswar</keyword>, <keyword id="6360078" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="chandigarh">Chandigarh</keyword>, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, <keyword id="6355192" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lucknow">Lucknow</keyword>, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi and <keyword id="6357416" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="thiruvananthapuram">Thiruvananthapuram</keyword>. In the wake of the pandemic, the government released truncated retail inflation data for April and May. The RBI would also conduct July 2020 round of Consumer Confidence Survey (CCS) to seek qualitative responses from households, regarding their sentiments on general economic situation, employment scenario, price level, households' income and spending. The survey, which would also be done over telephone, would cover approximately 5,400 respondents across 13 cities. Expect a call from RBI as an inflation survey is underway

The government today set the ball rolling on its <keyword id="6377036" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="smart-cities">Smart Cities</keyword> plan by announcing the first list of 20 cities, which included five capital cities, to be developed as Smart Cities. 
 
Bhubaneswar in Odisha topped the city challenge competition. 
 <keyword id="2094" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Pune">Pune</keyword> and <keyword id="6354779" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Jaipur">Jaipur</keyword> were second and third. 
 
The government has also offered a fast track window for the next rejected 23 cities based on their ranks to upgrade their proposals and submit them by April 15, 2016 for evaluation. 
 
The Smart City Challenge Competition was as rigorous and demanding as the civil services examination conducted by UPSC," said urban development minister Venkaiah Naidu, announcing the 20 names. 
 Apart from Bhubaneswar, Pune and Jaipur, the other cities include <keyword id="6359081" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Surat">Surat</keyword> and Ahmedabad in Gujarat, Kochi in Kerala, Bhopal, Jabalpur and Indore in Madhya Pradesh, Visakhapatnam and Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh, Solapur in Maharashtra, Davanagere and Belagavi in Karnataka, the New Delhi Municipal Council in Delhi, Chennai and Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, Udaipur in Rajasthan, Guwahati in Assam and Ludhiana in Punjab. 
 
A total investment of Rs 50,802 crore has been proposed in these 20 cities and towns during a five year period, of which, Rs 38,693 crore will be spent on area development and Rs 12,109 crore on a total of 56 pan-city solutions. 
 
"It is heartening to note that New Delhi's smart city proposal has been shortlisted in the first 20 list of cities to be funded. We are confident that this announcement will further accelerate the transformation of cities into smart cities and will witness very significant investments coming in," said Jaijit Bhattacharya, partner, cities and innovation at KPMG. 
 
Anshuman Magazine, chairman and managing director of property consultancy CBRE South Asia said, "While this initiative will involve large-scale retrofitting as well as redevelopment, these cities could become showcases of urban infrastructure development, encouraging others to follow suit. Going forward the success will rest on the effective implementation of the development of these smart cities." 
 
A total area of 26,735 acres will be taken up for improvements in these 20 cities including redevelopment of 425 acres in Bhopal (350 acres) and Ahmedabad (75 acres). 
 
Prakash Chandraker, vice-president and managing director-energy business at Schneider Electric India said, "Not only will these cities have enhanced basic infrastructure but they will also offer opportunities in efficient urban mobility, waste management , IT connectivity, e-governance and citizen participation. We are extremely positive about this development and excited about the huge change it will bring in its wake." 
 
These 20 cities account for 3.54 crore people with city-wise population ranging from 2.58 lakh (New Delhi Municipal Council) to 55.78 lakh (Ahmedabad).Five cities have a population of below 5 lakh each, 4 in the range of 5-10 lakh, 6 in the range of 10-25 lakh, 4 in between 25 and 50 lakh and only one city (Ahmedabad) with more than 50 lakh.

The other six cities are Kochi (Kerala), Ghaziabad(Uttar Pradesh), Jaipur (Rajasthan), Nagpur (Maharashtra), Surat (Gujarat) and Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. 
 In its latest report, property consultant JLL India has listed 10 cities that offer great lower-budget <keyword id="6354553" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="real-estate">real estate</keyword> investment prospects over medium to long term. 
 
"These towns and cities offer a wide spectrum of investable options in real estate with relatively lower property price levels, providing the incentives for future capital appreciation and healthy returns," JLL India Chairman and Country Head Anuj Puri said. 
 
On Hyderabad, Puri said it is perhaps one of the most it is perhaps one of the most affordable cities among all tier 1 cities of India. Even the well-developed residential localities in Hyderabad, such as Manikonda, Kukatpally, Miyapur and Sainikpuri offer housing properties in the budget range of Rs 30-50 lakh. 
 The report mentioned that Hyderabad's <keyword id="46631" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Realty-market">realty market</keyword> is now set for an upswing after a prolonged slump due to the global recession followed by political turmoil. 
 
About Pune, JLL said the city has recorded good growth in the affordable housing segment over the last couple of years. Such projects are located on the periphery of the city and offer small 1-2 BHK flats with basic, no-frills amenities. 
 "While <keyword id="35507" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="property-prices">property prices</keyword> have increasingly become unaffordable in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai still provides numerous options for residential housing within the budget of Rs 30-50 lakh," Puri said. 
 
The proposed SEZs at Dronagiri, Ulwe and Kalamboli, and the upcoming international airport at Panvel are expected to help generate employment and boost demand for commercial and residential developments. 
 
On Ghaziabad, JLL said that the city is an emerging residential neighbourhood of NCR which has a very high supply of flats in the budget of Rs 30-50 lakh. 
 
"Well connected via metro and roads to the job markets of Delhi-NCR region, the city caters largely to the mid-segment home buyers. The city has a high supply of ready-to-move-in properties offered by renowned developers," the report sad. 
 
Infrastructural developments such as extension of the Metro Rail and widening of the NH 24 will further boost Ghaziabad's realty market, it added. 
 
On Kochi, JLL said: "Gone are the days when the city's builders focused only on affluent buyers. Today, the Kochi residential real estate market is dominated by affordable housing segment, which accounts to about 60 per cent of the total housing projects in the city."

Out of these 15, seven districts show particularly high case volumes, like Hyderabad (Telangana), Pune (Maharashtra), Jaipur (Rajasthan), Indore (<keyword id="6355554" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Madhya-Pradesh">Madhya Pradesh</keyword>), Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Mumbai (Maharashtra) and Delhi. Other high case load places that are "critical" in the battle against COVID-19 include -- Vadodara (Gujarat), Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Jodhpur (Rajasthan), Agra (Uttar Pradesh), Thane (Maharashtra), Chennai (Tamil Nadu) and Surat (Gujarat). "These 15 districts are critical in our battle against #Covid_19 Of them 7 show particularly high case volumes. India's success in battling COVID-19 is dependent on them. We must aggressively monitor, contain, test, treat in these districts! We must win here," Kant said in a tweet. India has been under lockdown since March 25 to combat the spread of <keyword id="1754604" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="coronavirus">coronavirus</keyword>, which has infected more than 29,000 people in the country. More than 900 people have died due to the deadly virus. The government had on March 29 constituted 11 empowered groups to suggest measures to ramp up healthcare, put the economy back on track and reduce misery of people as quickly as possible post the 21-day lockdown imposed to contain the coronavirus pandemic. Kant, heads the Empowered Group (EG 6) on coordinating with private sector NGOs and international organisations.
