The Mahindra Group company posted a net profit of Rs 493.9 crore in the year-ago period, according to an exchange filing. Revenue rose by 3.49 per cent to Rs 13,313.2 crore in the second quarter of 2024-25 compared to Rs 12,863.9 crore in the same quarter of 2023-24. "Other income includes gain on sale of property of Rs 4,502 million which comprises of freehold land and its related buildings along with the furniture &amp; fixtures sold for a consideration of Rs 5,350 million, receivable over a period of four years along with interest of 8.2 per cent p.a," the company filing said. Sequentially, net profit rose by 46.81 per cent and revenue by 2.36 per cent. "We continue to progress on our strategic improvement efforts even as the overall IT services industry has remained soft. "We have focused on strengthening client relationships and expanding the partner ecosystem while maintaining a sharp focus on operational excellence through project Fortius, which has resulted in an expansion of margins for the third sequential quarter," Tech Mahindra CEO Mohit Joshi said. The CEO unveiled Project Fortius in April, a three-year plan to achieve a 15 per cent operating margin with a focus on organic growth. "This quarter we see consistent performance around increasing deal wins, <keyword id="19965932" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="revenue-growth" source="keywords">revenue growth</keyword>, cost optimisation and steady free cash flow generation as we continue our journey towards FY27 stated targets. "We continue to invest in strengthening our fresher hiring program, building the right mindset and future skilling and associates, by building capabilities in AI-first and cloud-first skill sets," he told reporters. Investments shall continue in creating and sustaining an outcome-driven learning organisation and cultivating a high-performance culture based on the pillars of simplifying, clarifying, innovating and driving a high-performance orientation, he added. "I am confident, however, that the platform is being set for a long-term, valuable franchise thanks to a high-calibre and united leadership team and a clearly articulated strategic plan," Joshi said. The Pune-headquartered firm added 6,653 employees during the quarter under review, bringing the total staff count to 1,54,273. Shares of Tech Mahindra settled at Rs 1,688 apiece on the BSE on Friday, down 0.68 per cent from the previous close. Tech Mahindra profit jumps over 2-times to ₹1,250 crore in Jul-Sep quarter

According to a new report by Anarock, FY23 created a new record of highest sales volume across the top seven cities. As many as 3.79 lakh units were sold in the period — 36% higher than the previous year. The value of all these units sold is worth ₹3.47 lakh crore — 48% more than in FY22. Interestingly, Pune recorded the highest growth in terms of sales value at 77%, followed by Hyderabad and Bengaluru. In Chennai, the value growth was at 24% for FY23. Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) led with the largest share in both sales value and volume —- 30% of the total units sold during the fiscal were in MMR. Additionally, there has been a notable surge in the sales of luxury housing — i.e units priced above ₹1.5 crore, in the top seven cities. “Luxury real estate has experienced a notable surge in demand following the pandemic as homebuyers have reconsidered their housing preferences. In addition to seeking larger spaces, there is now a higher demand for technologically advanced homes that offer convenience and a sense of pride in ownership,” the report said. Metropolitan regions like MMR, National Capital Region (NCR), and Bengaluru have been at the forefront of this trend, but Pune is emerging as another city to watch. Pune has not only witnessed the highest growth in terms of value but has also captured a 9% share of the luxury housing market, a significant increase from previous years. “The uptrend in luxury housing is the result of overall improved homeownership sentiment, improved earning potential, and the desire for homes that are future-proofed in terms of size, lifestyle quotient, and resale value growth,” says Anuj Puri, chairman of Anarock group. The last quarter of the fiscal saw a significant uptick in luxury housing demand. This was after the Union Budget 2023-24 revised capital gains tax and limits the benefit to ₹10 crore after the end of the preceding fiscal year. This led to a high sales of qualifying properties.

Pune housing market sees the highest surge in value of homes sold in FY23

sales across these cities in Q4 grew 9%, and five of them exhibited double-digit growth. Yet, there are two outliers — NCR sales grew by a marginal 1%, and sales fell by 2% in Bengaluru. Pune and Kolkata are the only two cities that saw a robust double-digit growth in sales as well as new launches. High-value home sales are growing at a faster pace than others. Homes priced at ₹1 crore and above accounted for 40% of the same. A year ago, they accounted for 29% of sales. The sales of such units grew by 51%. Units priced between ₹50 lakh to ₹1 crore fell by 6% YoY in Q4. Those under ₹50 lakh fell by 10% YoY, continuing a nine-quarter deceleration trend. “The residential segment witnessed a significant surge, propelled by continued growth in sales in the higher price category of ₹1 crore and above. New property launches dip in major Indian cities, sales growth tepid in Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru

Sales stood at 74,320 units in the year-ago period across primary (fresh sales) residential markets of the top eight cities. The housing brokerage firm on Wednesday released its Real Insight Residential - April-June 2023 report, stating that housing sales rose in three cities Mumbai, Pune and Ahmedabad but declined in other five major cities -- Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata. "India's top eight residential markets continue on a growth path. The RBI's decision to pause the hike in the key lending rate helped in sustaining strong positive sentiments for buying residential properties," Vikas Wadhawan, group CFO of REA India, said. PropTiger, Housing.com and Makaan.com platforms are owned by REA India, which is part of Australian firm REA, and News Corp. "The driving factors behind the uptick in housing sales over the last two years are pent-up demand from the COVID-affected period, growing appetite for home ownership, revival in the economy post-pandemic, and the evolving need for more spacious homes," he said. As per the data, housing sales in Ahmedabad increased 17 per cent to 8,450 units during the April-June period to 7,240 units in the year-ago period. Bengaluru saw a 19 per cent decline in sales to 6,790 units from 8,350 units while Chennai witnessed a 5 per cent fall to 3,050 units from 3,210 units. Housing sales in Delhi NCR fell 28 per cent to 3,230 units from 4,510 units. Hyderabad too witnessed a 3 per cent drop in demand to 7,680 units from 7,910 units. Housing sales in Kolkata decreased 40 per cent to 1,940 units from 3,220 units. Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) saw a 16 per cent increase in sales to 30,260 units during April-June period from 26,160 units in the year-ago period. In Pune, sales increased 37 per cent during April-June to 18,850 units from 13,720 units in the corresponding period of the previous year. Delhi-NCR market includes Gurugram, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad while MMR includes Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane. REA India Head of Research Ankita Sood noted that MMR and Pune contributed 61 per cent to total housing sales across 8 cities. Demand in localities such as Thane West and Dombivali in Mumbai and Charholi Budruk and Hadapsar in Pune have been high, she said. In terms of new housing supply, PropTiger reported that launches increased 11 per cent to 1,13,770 units during the April-June from 1,02,140 units in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Mumbai also took the lead with a 27.5% share in new launches, closely followed by Hyderabad with 26.9%, and Pune with 19%. For 2023, the overall residential sales across price categories exceeded 3.22 lakh units in 2023, registering a 9% YoY growth. Sustained momentum in demand also led developers to launch over 3.13 lakh new housing units in 2023, a 6% YoY increase. Mid-end projects emerged as the leading category driving sales, recording a 45% share in total sales for 2023, followed by high-end and affordable projects. The Pune-based company had sold a total of 3,06,719 vehicles in November 2022, according to a statement. Total domestic sales (two-wheelers and <keyword id="6390018" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="commercial-vehicles" source="Orion">commercial vehicles</keyword>) in the previous month grew by a whopping 69 per cent to 2,57,744 units as against 1,52,883 69 units in November 2022. At the same time, <keyword id="35090" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="exports" source="Orion">exports</keyword> during the month under review declined 6 per cent to 1,45,259 from 1,53,836 vehicles shipped out to overseas markets in the same month of last year, as per the statement. Two-wheelers' domestic sales were at 2,18,597 units, registering a growth of 77 per cent over 1,23,657 units sold in November 2022, while exports fell 6 per cent year-on-year to 1,30,451 units in the previous month, it said. The total two-wheeler sales during November 2023 were recorded at 3,49,048 units, growing 33 per cent over the same month last year. The total commercial vehicles sales were 53,955 units in November 2023, as per the statement.

Overall, 88,230 units were sold in the quarter against 84,930 units in the preceding quarter and 62,800 units in Q3 2021. “The appetite for homeownership has remained undeterred, with maximum sales being driven by end users. There has been increased new supply by the leading and listed developers, who also reported robust housing sales. This trend will very likely continue in the upcoming festive quarter as well since homeownership sentiment has increased hugely post the pandemic,” <keyword id="6420759" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="anuj-puri" source="Orion">Anuj Puri</keyword>, chairman, <keyword id="6596330" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="anarock-group" source="Orion">Anarock Group</keyword>, said. Mumbai Metropolitan Region (<keyword id="6381620" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="mmr" source="Orion">MMR</keyword>) sold the most units – at 26,400 – among the top seven cities, registering a year-on-year growth of 26%. While Delhi sold fewer units at 14,970 as compared to MMR, in percentage terms its sales went up 46% annually. Pune registered a quarterly sales growth at 3% and annually, its growth stood at 45%. NCR, MMR, Bengaluru, Pune, and Hyderabad together accounted for 90% of the sales for the quarter. The sales in Chennai and Kolkata made up 10% of the total sales. Residential property prices across these top seven cities registered a quarterly increase in the range of 1-2% in Q3 2022. On an annual basis, prices have risen in the range of 4-7% primarily due to an increase in input costs and demand comeback post Covid, Anarock said. Mumbai, Hyderabad top new unit additions MMR is also on the top when it comes to new properties. The region added 36,000 new units in the quarter and overtook Hyderabad – the city which ranks second in terms of new additions – by a large margin. Hyderabad added 15,530 units during the quarter, while in NCR, it was much lower at 6,400 units. Mumbai tops real estate sales and new launches in September quarter

Bengaluru, Driven by a surge in travel, there has been a 50 per cent surge in hiring for tourism and hospitality jobs between December 2022 and 2023 in <keyword id="19895063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india" source="keywords">India</keyword>, according to a report on Wednesday. The report by Indeed, a global hiring and matching platform, also revealed that blue-collar hiring in the tourism and hospitality industry witnessed an overall 8 per cent increase. The rise not only signals a noteworthy post-pandemic recovery but also reflects a promising future for the industry while underscoring the job market's adaptability and resilience in the face of evolving global trends. The <keyword id="20223693" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="world-travel-and-tourism-council" source="keywords">World Travel and Tourism Council</keyword> (WTTC)'s Economic Impact Research predicted India to become the third most influential market in the Travel and Tourism industry globally. As per Indeed's data, hiring in the tourism industry peaked in October 2023 with a 61 per cent rise as compared to December 2022. This can be attributed to multiple reasons such as October being a popular time for tourism owing to weather changes propagating hill station visits, festive season and more. Says Anuj Puri, Chairman, Anarock group, “The residential market’s winning streak continued in the first quarter of 2023 with housing sales in top cities breaching the previous high of Q1 2022. The quarter has recorded the highest ever sales in the last decade amid significant rise in demand for high-ticket priced homes (homes costing more than ₹1.5 crore). In spite of a high number of new launches in this and the previous quarter, the available inventory in the top 7 cities remained almost similar at about 6.27 lakh units by Q1 2023-end. On a sequential basis, unsold stock saw a 1% dip across the top 7 cities. Among the top cities, NCR saw the highest decline in its unsold stock in January to March quarter 2023 by 22%. “The housing sector is experiencing strong sales due to increased affordability over the years. We anticipate closing this fiscal year with the highest number of housing units sold, since our inception. Despite a rise in home loan interest rates, there has been minimal impact on demand nationwide. We anticipate that the demand in the housing sector will continue for at least a few more years,” said Pradeep Aggarwal, founder &amp; chairman, Signature Global (India), commenting on the Anarock report. Puri however added that persistent inflation concerns along with another possible rate hike by the RBI in the near future could dent the housing market’s growth trajectory in the upcoming two quarters. Average residential property prices across the top 7 cities increased in the range of 6-9% in Q1 2023 when compared to Q1 2022, mainly due to increase in the prices of construction raw materials and overall rise in demand. Interestingly, Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and Pune again saw the maximum new supply, accounting for 52% of the total new launches across the top 7 cities. Individually, the two cities saw 58% and 34% yearly increases in their new supply, respectively. MMR saw approximately 37,260 units launched in Q1 2023 – a significant increase of nearly 58% over Q1 2022. More than 62% new supply was added in the sub-₹80 lakh budget segment. On the other hand, Pune added a new supply of approximately 19,420 units in Q1 2023 compared to 14,490 units in Q1 2022 – an increase of 34%. · Chennai added approximately 6,410 units in Q1 2023, a yearly increase of a whopping 110% over Q1 2022. It was the only city to see three-digit growth in new supply. While Hyderabad added approximately 14,620 units in Q1 2023, a yearly decline of 32%, Bangalore added approximately. 13,560 units in Q1 2023, yearly increase of just 3%. However, the share of home sales in the ₹50 lakh and below category has decreased from 41% in Q1 2022 to 32% in Q1 2023. This can be attributed to the rising prices and a relatively more negative impact of the pandemic on homebuyers in this segment, leading to a decrease in demand. It is noteworthy that the mid-size segment now accounts for a larger portion of the sales pie than the ₹50 lakh and below category.
