We are now three moms with five kids total living together.The financial, social, and emotional benefits have been life-changing. Not only do I get to save money every month, but I get to live beyond my means by pooling our extra belongings and using them when needed.<h2>My cohousing space is bigger and cheaper than my previous apartment</h2>After my divorce, I rented for 18 months. My large <a href="https://www.insider.com/new-yorker-tour-apartment-philly-dc-chicago-detroit-2021-8#after-touring-apartments-in-philadelphia-i-headed-to-washington-dc-to-check-out-the-ava-apartments-near-the-famous-h-street-10">one-bedroom apartment</a> was 750 square feet, so I was able to make the bedroom into two "rooms" for my daughter and me to share. My rent, parking, and utilities were $2,550 a month.At Siren House, the name we gave our new house, my utilities and equity-building mortgage payment total $1,875 a month. My apartment is 1,100 square feet, we have a half-acre lot with free parking, and I have a nearly 300-square-foot front porch that feeds my soul and offers a welcoming place to gather with family, friends, and neighbors.<div type="image" title="Kids hanging out on a hammock" height="2268" width="3023" msid="89252627" hostid="261"></div>I gave up the fancy gym, the rooftop pool, and the concierge service, but none of that matters as much now that I don't have to walk down three flights of stairs just to take the dog out to pee. I also saved $8,000 in rent in 2021 by moving to our shared house.<h2>Sharing emergency repairs saved me $20,000 last year</h2>New houses in <a href="https://www.insider.com/everything-you-need-to-know-about-traveling-to-washington-dc-2021-10">Washington, DC</a>, are rare. Most of the city's row houses and single-family homes are well over 50 years old.Our house was built in 1927 and retains the wavy glass windows, tall ceilings, and original heart-pine floors that everyone adores.But while the previous owner took excellent care of the property, and we did renovations and upgrades before we moved in, Siren House had some surprises up her sleeve.The heating and hot-water system failed, the water main sprung a leak, a rotten window casement caused a bathroom ceiling to collapse, one kitchen drain rotted out, and we funded $10,000-plus in upgrades from replacing the front-door deadbolt to putting in a fence for the three dogs.Our cohousing agreement requires us to contribute to the "emergency fund" monthly, so Siren House covered some of this without a dent in my monthly expenses. And for the emergency costs, we divided them relative to our percentage ownership of the property.In all, I saved more than $20,000 last year on home repairs. All those costs would have been on my shoulders alone if I'd owned a single-family home.<h2>Sharing our homes and pooling our personal belongings means we live like queens</h2>The four grown-ups at Siren House have diverse hobbies, talents, and skills. Each of the five kids at Siren House has their own interests. Where our interests overlap, we pool resources.Everyone has stuff they use two times a year — the sewing machine, the stand mixer, the jigsaw, the sleeping bags. And when storage space is limited, people sacrifice the things they use most infrequently. So I wanted to know, at what point did you decide on that? Were they always intended to become romantic by the end of this season?Yeah. In fact, there was a period of time when we thought they might become romantic at the end of the first season.I think from the jump, we thought that there was something really interesting between these two characters on the page. And then I remember vividly, one of the first scenes we shot for the pilot at Sips, with Chris and Pauline first learning these characters together and there was just this undeniable chemistry between the two of them where we were just like, "Oh, this is great."So we actually ended up putting the move back in our pocket and waiting another full year, which took a lot of self-restraint. Did they know that it was sort of on the table a little bit for season one?No, they never knew that. We were very good. The writers, at least as far as I know, kept that pretty mum. But they were really into it. It was really cute. I remember Pauline came to my office and talked about it at one point and just like, learned more about it. I think that they just really love doing scenes together.And then Chris was so funny, I remember him being like, "Man, you're obsessed with chaos. You're just bringing so much chaos out here." And I was like, "That's the job, yeah. I mean, we're gonna have to cause a little chaos here because it is interesting."The thesis of the show, from my point of view, is that we don't really do a lot of deep drama between our girls. We don't want them fighting. Like, I don't need a lot of women-on-women warfare being put out into the world. But we've never gone here before. This is the deepest move that one of our girls has done against another before. But could you imagine Kimberly? I think she just couldn't do it. I think she couldn't tell her. I think that that moment felt terrifying for me, and I was directing it so I couldn't even let that show, but I was just like, "Oh my God. I feel like for both of these people." Because Kimberly, she's just following her heart and she knows Canaan in a very different context outside of the relationship with Whitney. But Whitney is her girl. It's a little juicy.How would that lie of omission affect Kimberly and Whitney's friendship in a potential third season, do you think?We get a taste for that at the end with the idea that Whitney wants to move into Kappa. I think it's such a funny knee-jerk reaction for Whitney, of all the places that are available to her, to move into Kappa, a place that she has been so hesitant of all along.But it just shows how steadfast she was in like, "I can't hand in this piece of paper saying I'm gonna live with Kimberly Finkle right now." And I love the comedy that is suggested with Whitney being in Kappa.We're gonna have to see the way that they work it out. I think our audience hopefully knows this story from their own lives, right? We all have those friends who have done things slightly like this. And I would say from my experience, you have the friends who get past it and you have the friends that don't. Our girls will make it through OK. And it was photos of Jackson and Nico. So I wanted to ask you, what do you think it is about Kimberly that really attracts these "hot guys" to her?Kimberly is just so authentic. I mean, I think Pauline is gorgeous. Every time I see one of those tweets I'm like, "Because she's played by Pauline Chalamet and she's gorgeous." That's a big part of it. But also, Kimberly is just so refreshing. She says and does what's on her mind, she's so earnest, and she has such a good heart and she wears it outside of her sleeve, it's visible right away.I also think on the other side, she just goes for it. Like good for her. I love when Lila calls it out being like, "You're into ripped big hotties." And even though she denies it, it is unequivocally true. Like, we've seen it. I think she grew up in this town where she was probably a real grade-A nerd. She probably wasn't going out a lot. She probably didn't date a lot.And then she's away at college and all of a sudden any shiny, muscular torso that walks by, she just somehow comes into contact with. She knocks on Nico's door drunk as can be and says, "I want you to tutor me." And it works. She runs into Jackson, he kind of comes into her world. But she just has a gift, and God, aren't we all jealous of it?I was also just really impressed by how quickly she ended things with Jackson when she recognized these feelings that she had for Canaan. I feel like we always see characters sort of have feelings for two people at the same time and then it inevitably goes wrong. And she really cut it off immediately. So I was just wondering about the logic behind doing that.One thing that I'm always talking about in our writer's room here is, we're a show that has to ship characters together all the time. That's the backbone of this show. But if you're gonna be shipping characters, you also have to be doing anti-shipping. And what I mean by that is you're putting characters together, but you're leaving enough breadcrumbs and cracks to say, "This isn't perfect."You want the audience to grasp that at times and see that maybe Kimberly and Jackson aren't perfect together. Maybe Whitney and Andrew aren't perfect together. Because while it's nice to have an audience member love two characters together, we also know that they're usually not each other's endgame. The idea of Kimberly Finkle watching, I would love to film that scene. It didn't fit time-wise into our episode, but I would've loved to watch Kimberly watch wrestling with Jackson.We're not all perfect matches, and so I think she knew. I think on some level she was convincing herself that there was something deeper with Jackson and it probably was pretty physical, the way that Lila, sometimes our best friends see things that we can't quite see ourselves.And then I think Canaan just surprises her. I think she knew there was something there with Canaan. She's aware of that chemistry and then it just escalated in-depth very quickly and captivated her and she went for it and made herself available.I wanna pivot to Leighton. I love her so much. I think that she has such incredible growth this season, especially that one moment with Tatum where she's like, "I can't be with you, you remind me of parts of myself that I'm trying to change." I love that scene. How did you plan out this whole journey for Leighton? Because I love that she's dealing with all her own stuff and she's still the best friend to her suitemates.I could talk about my perceptions on the queer experience for hours. Leighton comes out, that's where we're starting our season. She is out on campus and what does that mean for Leighton? The thing in our comedy that I most wanted to dive into was the fun of that.Do a lot of people who just come out go into a pretty promiscuous phase? Yes, they do because they had not been able to for a long time, they're living out in the sun and they're gonna have some fun. Do a lot of them catch an STI? Yes, they do. And so she goes through that. Do a lot of them start comedically dating someone who looks a lot like them? Mm-hmm. That happens a lot. It happened to a lot of my own friends.<div type="image" title="Reneé Rapp and Gracie Dzienny on season two, episode seven of &quot;The Sex Lives of College Girls.&quot;" height="973" width="1298" msid="96261934" hostid="261" sizebytes="105566"></div>So, the intent of the season was to introduce the Tatum love interest as someone who felt like comedy. It felt like, "Oh boy, there's gonna be two of them now? Two Leighton Murrays in the same room? What is that gonna mean for Bela when she's like, 'Can I pull off this outfit?' Like two of them making fun of her?" But then to not have it be that episodic comedy love interest, to have it escalate into more depth.I think a moment that feels really poignant to me in their story is when Leighton's dad Henry is like, "I like this girl for you." And it's like, "Whoa. Not only is she out to her dad, but her dad likes this girl, and she likes this girl. Maybe this is a real thing even though it's rooted in this comedy of them being similar."But the chemistry between Reneé and <a href="https://www.imdb.com/name/nm6377764/">Midori</a> as Leighton and Alicia in season one was just so prolific to me. And there was exactly one roadblock between the two of them, which is that Leighton was closeted and she wasn't ready to be out. I think the goal of season two was to remove that boundary without making it super obvious that that boundary was gone. Have Alicia not fall out of the front of our minds because we're into Tatum.But there was nothing standing in the way of Leighton and Alicia anymore, it was gone. So what happens when we reintroduce? And I do think that Tatum is such a fun character and <a href="https://www.imdb.com/name/nm4046255/">Gracie</a> plays her so well, but I think Leighton is learning a lot about herself and I think that she struggles with her own judgmental attitude at times, especially when she's learning lessons from the women's center and then bringing them into a place like Kappa. It's kind of showing what's actually having a profound effect on her personality at age 19.<div type="image" title="Reneé Rapp on season two, episode eight of &quot;The Sex Lives of College Girls.&quot;" height="1280" width="1706" msid="96261935" hostid="261" sizebytes="131114"></div>Amrit's performance in that last scene was just so moving to me. It's the first time we really see Bela address her shortcomings and the consequences of what she does. So can you talk about this choice to have Bela decide that she wants to transfer schools as opposed to trying to keep making amends on campus?Absolutely. First and foremost, I need to give such a shout-out to Amrit for that performance. It was my first time directing on this show and I remember filming that scene and immediately being too emotional to go in and give her notes because she had done so well. So, I had to compose myself and then go in a professional way.And then she just had this attitude of like, "I can do better, I can do better, I can do better." And I think we filmed like 21 takes of that little monologue because she was just so dedicated to getting it perfectly right. And she nailed it. She nailed it. We had every level on it and it was beautiful. Sorry, what was the rest of your question? I just was like, I just need to talk about Amrit.<div type="image" title="Amrit Kaur on season two, episode 10 of &quot;The Sex Lives of College Girls.&quot;" height="915" width="1220" msid="96261936" hostid="261" sizebytes="67866"></div>I just wanted to know how you arrived at that decision for the character.Oh yeah. I think that Bela is an incredibly ambitious character. We've known that from moment one. We know exactly what she wants. It's hyper-specific, very much in keeping with her personality. Will she do kind of kooky things to get there? Absolutely.But then through season two we kind of see the flip side, which is her determination sometimes comes at odds with being aware of other people's emotions and she kind of hurts some other people along the way. And then the show gives her this opportunity, the show points out to her, "Hey, you're hurting people by doing this." And she has a moment of reflection on it. And then the show gives her another opportunity to see what she does with it.<div type="image" title="Pauline Chalamet, Alyah Chanelle Scott, and Amrit Kaur on season two, episode seven of &quot;The Sex Lives of College Girls.&quot;" height="1193" width="1590" msid="96261937" hostid="261" sizebytes="110582"></div>In the finale, she just can't help but punch down at this person. That's a moment of realization for her that she is maybe not on the right path or ready for this. And as she looks at her own first year in school, as she's doing her own accounting of what's happened and she's talking — and we don't know who she's talking to — I think we can tell in that performance that the laundry list has built up and it's more than she realized. It kind of catches her. And I think she's kind of a perfectionist. I think a lot of people who go into the arts are, and she can't stomach the idea of having to own these failures and work her way back up. The easier thing to do is to cut and run and start fresh somewhere else with a perfect unstained record. I pictured myself kicking a ball around the yard with my children and taking them with me to watch AS Roma, our hometown soccer team - a pep in my step all the while, my parenting skills bolstered by the buoyancy of youth.Perhaps I expected to have children young because my mother and father were young when they had me. That was the norm back then: to raise big, rambunctious families. My mother is one of five sisters, and I grew up surrounded by cousins - 12 at the last count. My grandparents also lived nearby.When I emigrated to America after high school, I maintained both my hope and my expectation that I'd be a young father. Things started according to plan when I met and married <a href="http://www.jenniferleesnowden.com">my American wife</a>. Yet as it tends to do, life threw us a curveball. Due to illness, we were unable to start a family right away, as we'd hoped. This was frustrating and scary. However, due to the amazing progress in fertility medicine, we were able to "bank" our luck. As I write this, there are some fertilized embryos nestled safely inside nitrogen tanks, awaiting a future arrival date.Although it felt unusual at the time, the fact that my wife and I have waited to have children aligns us with the broader worldwide cultural shift: More and more, parents are delaying procreation. According to the <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/vsrr/report004.pdf">National Vital Statistics System</a>, 3.8 million babies were born in the US in 2017. Although it sounds like a high number, this was the lowest reported fertility rate in 30 years. Importantly, this reflects the successful campaign against unwanted teen pregnancies - which are down 55% since 2007, according to NVSS - but it's also a matter of strategy. Some parents are waiting until they feel financially secure and professionally established to have children - which is entirely logical: <a href="https://www.fns.usda.gov/resource/expenditures-children-families-reports-all-years">According to the US Department of Agriculture's Expenditures on Children by Families</a>, in 2015 parents were expected to spend $233,610 to raise a child, from birth to adulthood. People are waiting longer to have kids. The mean age of first-time mothers is continuing to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/08/04/upshot/up-birth-age-gap.html">increase</a> from 21 in 1972 to 26 today, alongside fathers who are now around 31, up from 27 in the same time period. As a result, when couples today do have children, they are more informed and more conscious of safety concerns because they've taken the time to educate themselves. They're also constantly digitally connected and demanding better and more reliable child-centered products and services. Some of those products include <a href="https://cocooncam.com/">Cocoon Cam</a>, an AI-vital signs, data-capturing monitor started by a former Tesla engineer; <a href="https://www.tinyhood.com/">Tinyhood</a>, an on-demand expert advice network which functions as a "ParentTech"-style assistant; and <a href="https://kidizen.com/">Kidizen</a>, a peer-to-peer resale market for kids clothing and products. All told, this amounts to a seismic generational shift, both in how parents prepare for raising kids and what they demand out of the technology that helps them do that. <a href="https://news.crunchbase.com/news/millennial-parents-helping-grow-baby-tech-market/">Data shows</a> $300 million in capital flowing to startups servicing this revolution. What we're also seeing is a broader socioeconomic shift towards products and services with roots in the <a href="https://www.parqex.com/how-parents-benefit-from-the-sharing-economy/">sharing economy</a> - companies that allow parents to rent, resale, and share rather than buy - as well as the "<a href="https://time.com/4376283/quantified-self-parents-apps/">quantified self</a>" movement: technology that tracks data for self-improvement.This trend is of deep interest to me, both personally and professionally. I'm not only an aspiring father, but an investor. The ability to see around corners, to understand what's coming next, is a vital skill for early-stage venture capitalists and one I've worked hard to hone. As such, it's clear to me that what we have on our hands is not just a revolution in parenting, but an economic opportunity.Here's how we should all be preparing for it. <h1>Look for companies that are democratizing parent services for the masses</h1>At Alpha Edison, the VC firm where I work, we make concerted efforts to identify startups who use new technology to bring upmarket services - services which were once only enjoyed by the rich and powerful - to the masses. (We call this strategy <a href="https://www.alphaedison.com/insights/2018/11/13/democratized-decisions">democratizing decisions</a>.) Examples of companies who fit this bill are Uber and Lyft. Both companies made perks like private drivers, for example, available to all. There are several companies who are democratizing the parent services space in a similar way. I met recently with Lisa Barnett, the founder of <a href="https://www.littlespoon.com/">Little Spoon</a>. "2018 was the first year the millennial generation represented the critical majority of new parents," she said. "And in the same way we've seen millennials disrupt so many other consumer categories, they've entered the parenting space with the same demands for high-quality, transparent, health-conscious, and affordable products for their families."The disruptive potential of entrepreneurs like Lisa is massive. Big picture, the total addressable market for global baby care products is <a href="https://www.statista.com/topics/1259/baby-care-market/">estimated</a> at $73.86 billion, and <a href="https://www.statista.com/statistics/258435/revenue-of-the-baby-care-products-market-worldwide/">projected</a> to grow to $109.13 billion by 2026, according to research and data company Statista. It's still a fragmented industry, but Johnson &amp; Johnson (23.2%), Procter &amp; Gamble (18%), and Kimberly-Clark (8%) Statista says are the three market leaders.And they're susceptible to disruption. In line with the widespread concerns around toxic and harmful ingredients, J&amp;J is still embroiled in a <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/us-johnson-johnson-cancer-lawsuit/jj-loses-trial-over-claims-linking-cancer-to-asbestos-in-talc-idUSKCN1HC2PL">lawsuit</a> around asbestos traces in their talcum powder that is said to cause cancer, which could negatively affect their market share in the coming years. So there's a real opportunity for smart startups to grab market share or make themselves ripe for successful IPO or acquisition.More importantly, there's a real opportunity for companies and investors to do good and change lives here. For example, when I met with Lisa, our conversation eventually turned to her parenting hopes. "I'd love to be a mother at some point," she said. "But I feel it's really tough, if not impossible, to be an entrepreneur CEO and working mother without masses of support." I felt for her. It's a horrible choice to have to be between pursuing your dreams and starting a family. Technology designed for the next generation of parents can alleviate some of that pressure and solve for the time-constraint burdens of early-stage parenting. Obviously, technology can't solve all of the problems parents face today, but developed and cultivated strategically, it can certainly make it easier for women to stay in or re-enter the workforce, should they choose to have kids. The way we raise families has changed - perhaps forever. It's time for founders and the people who power them to change, too.

For most brands, the closure of malls and showrooms meant business had to come to a complete standstill. However, it was this time that taught many of them the importance of pushing out effective and relevant communications, to ensure their connection with their consumers remained intact. We recently caught up with Haruto Iwata, Managing Director, Fujifilm India who told us that the early signs of consumers coming to them are positive as people have already started walking into their showrooms to buy products in non-affected areas. He also said that the last few weeks gave the brand the chance to evolve, upgrade and be resilient to change and it will continue to do so in the future too. Excerpts: Q) How has the past 1.5 months been for brand Fujifilm? Considering business would have been on a standstill, what kind of business impact are you looking at? The COVID-19 outbreak has left an enormous impact on brands across all industries. From a drop in consumer confidence, restricted mobility, and loss of jobs, it has caused a recession like situation with subsiding consumerism. With a top priority to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the employees and communities. At Fujifilm, we have always aimed at creating meaningful advancements and in the last few weeks, we have taken several measures to ensure safety, both internally and externally. At the community level, we have introduced various online workshops for camera enthusiasts and even conducted an interactive INSTAX Doodle Art Contest to help our customers utilize their time and give our business a chance to forge an instant connection with them. This month, we also unveiled ‘Pari Layegi Parivartan’; a comic series to spread the much needed self-health awareness amongst mothers and the women in our lives. While it is still early to predict the quantum of impact at the moment but there will be aftermath on the overall economy and consumption. However, in India with shops re-opening post the relaxation by the government, we are witnessing walk-in from consumers’ to buy products in non-affected areas. We are hopeful that recovery in demand will happen sooner as we learn to live with the virus and find different ways of <keyword id="6354839" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="marketing">marketing</keyword>. Q) It is imperative to stay connected with your consumers through a crisis situation. How have you done that since the lockdown? We believe that brands are like humans and during such situations; it becomes imperative to build an emotional connection with your consumers, a relationship where both can balance and support each other. It may not be a business as usual but our customers still depend on our products and services at large. We at Fujifilm have always believed in a holistic customer experience strategy and during times like these we have drastically modified our approach. We have been conducting various online workshops through Fujifilm’s social media channels. Consistently engaging with our consumers through Q&amp;A sessions like ‘Rendezvous’ with professional photographers on Instagram, organizing digital workshop like ‘Pathshala’ and ‘Roobaru’ on YouTube. To educate and share insight on camera features along with some tips &amp; tricks on shooting. As a brand, we encourage our consumers to stay safe and adopt social distancing guidelines and hence, we have also started a service of providing product demos at their doorstep. We are even organising health check-ups across rural in India, especially in remote areas with our advanced diagnosis technologies and associating with various hospitals to drive awareness around early detection of breast cancer. We are motivating people to stay strong and hope this pandemic ends soon with the minimum possible harm. Q) What kind of communication have you been putting out? How have you made sure you stayed relevant? There is no denying that these are stressful times and COVID-19 impact has changed the face of many industries. With most of the consumers now at home practicing social distancing, the amount of time they spend online has radically increased. Social media platforms have now become the primary means of communication for brands, consumers and the government as well. At Fujifilm, we are following a similar approach and are using social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube to disseminate valuable messages to our consumers. Building on our customer experience, we recently virtually launched our flagship camera, the X-T4. We were the first ones to modify our product launch strategy in the camera industry keeping in mind our community first approach, especially during these times. As in the end, it is all about adapting your product offerings, marketing language, and availability according to the business environment. Q) As the leader of the organization, what has your priority been these past few weeks? How are you preparing to face the post-Covid world? There are certain traits of leadership which are timeless. You have to be trustworthy, transparent, and inspirational. These are a few traits applicable to all businesses and relevant for all times. But then there are nuances which have to change with the times. The days of command and control – the days of hierarchy - are long gone. We need to have flatter structures to bring speed and agility in the company. The other very important trait I believe that the industry should have now more than ever is resilience. In today’s fast-changing world and in the post COVID world, we will face difficulties and various hurdles. The question is not about failing. The question is how quickly we get up and start running. I tell my people, failure is not the opposite of success, so long as we learn from it, and so long as we don’t repeat it. So, resilience becomes very important just like speed and agility. In today’s world, where there is a trust deficit, it is very important for people in the company to relate to the purpose and values. At Fujifilm India, we are adapting our offerings to the current times while testing new content online to identify future sales and consumption patterns. In conclusion, a delightful experience will ensure customers stay hooked. We will remain consistent with who we are as a customer-first company. We are evaluating trends and data daily and constantly seek and listen to customer feedback to ensure we’re providing the experience and value they want and need. Q) Have there been any interesting consumer trends you observed during the lockdown period? The Covid-19 has led to a paradigm shift in the consumer behavior. While some of these changes are no doubt temporary, some will be permanent. As the community moves beyond the survival mode, the digital-adoption momentum is likely to carry forward and become permanent. This inflection point will be primarily shaped by two major shifts in customer behavior - the reluctance to mingle in crowded public places and higher propensity for digital adoption. Marketers across industries are trying to redesign their business models and the imaging solutions industry is no exception. Consumers are likely to opt for online shopping even after the outbreak ends, and this change will be seen in the imaging industry as well. With our major business focus in healthcare sector, the health, hygiene and safety measures of people have been our utmost priority in today’s COVID world.The demand for online health content has been growing steadily for years. A positive by-product of the global pandemic has resulted in greater awareness of healthcare and the steps we can all take to safeguard our families and ourselves. From handwashing to exercising and eating healthy at home to prioritizing mental health, consumers are more engaged in healthcare issues than ever. To get smarter on health issues and guide decisions, consumers are turning to healthcare providers first as COVID elevates our collective esteem for doctors and hospitals on the front lines. We have seen an upward trend in self-diagnosis measures, where consumers want to be more aware of the health issues they’re tackling. Q) As a brand, what is going to be your growth strategy going ahead? Fujifilm’s mission to ‘Never Stop transforming themselves and the World’, focuses on how the company is leveraging its advanced and unique technologies (AI, IOT, IT solutions ) to create value from innovation and contribute to solving real-world challenges.Our effort is on offering healthcare solutions through AI and IoT solutions in remote areas by supporting radiologists with their imaging workflow and providing quality healthcare services and solutions for Indian people. We have been constantly on a lookout on enhancing our consumer awareness, for which we are indulging in sharing DIY self-examinations tips and tricks for women, allowing one to diagnose themselves easily during these times when they can’t step out. Our medical division is further organizing various webinars for training doctors and health experts around Breast Imaging of FFDM, 3D Synapse, application training to technicians for better use of CRs and DRs, etc.We are also providing N95 respirators&amp; surgical facemasks along with PPE kits to healthcare professionals at PGIMER, Chandigarh to help combat the spread of the disease. With rising numbers of customers on the digital bandwagon, we are revisiting our approaches and making them more tech-savvy. Q) The advent of smartphones with good cameras has made everyone a good photographer now. How are you as a brand trying to stay relevant? The photography industry is changing dynamically with each passing year. New applications, mobile apps and printing technology are redefining the ways consumers experience images. The rise in consumption of smartphones with great quality cameras have made people think about the need and importance of owning a <keyword id="11137" type="TECHNOLOGY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Digital-Camera">digital camera</keyword>. In fact, the growing trend of capturing moments and sharing further on their social media handles has motivated individuals to click more pictures with cameras that deliver better image and color quality. Hence, leading to an increased adoption of digital and mirrorless cameras with interchangeable lenses. The smartphones are becoming a starting point for us in shifting the interest of individuals to professional photography. Lately, we have also been witnessing photography as a hobby among today's new age millennials. With the Covid-19, the first quarter of the financial year has been challenging for us. However, as a brand, we have tried to ensure that we are in touch with our customers regularly. Though the consumer’s mindset, attitude and behavior are always changing but the present epidemic may change them significantly and for a near future. We at Fujifilm are working towards newer strategies to navigate through these difficult times. Yep-over the past year or so, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the petite, 81-year-old Supreme Court justice, has become the unlikeliest of pop icons. That's thanks, in part, to NYU <keyword id="6355470" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Law">Law</keyword> student Shana Knizhnik, who launched the tumblr <a href="http://notoriousrbg.tumblr.com/">The Notorious R.B.G.</a> last summer with this withering Ginsburg quote (from her dissent in <a href="http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/12pdf/12-96_6k47.pdf">Shelby County v. Holder</a>, the case that struck down Section 4(b) of the Voting Rights Act): "Throwing out preclearance when it has worked and is continuing to work to stop discriminatory changes is like throwing away your umbrella in a rainstorm because you are not getting wet."
Since then the blog, its name a winking reference to hip-hop idol Notorious B.I.G., has become a repository for all things R.B.G.-from the justice's musings on the progress of women to user-created images and gifs of Ginbsurg decked out in bling and paired with popular song lyrics. It's received more than a quarter million hits, and Knizhnik has sold thousands of Notorious R.B.G. t-shirts.
This summer, Ginsburg is back in the news (and the tumblrverse) for her dissent to the court's 5-4 <a href="http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/13pdf/13-354_olp1.pdf">Burwell v. Hobby Lobby</a> ruling that the government can't require employers to provide insurance coverage for methods of contraception that conflict with their religious beliefs. The Washington Post recently declared "Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a meme. Again," and The New Republic ran a piece called "How Ruth Bader Ginsburg Became the Most Popular Woman on the Internet," in which Rebecca Traister <a href="http://www.newrepublic.com/article/118641/ruth-bader-ginsburg-memes-how-internet-fell-love-her">praises</a> Knizhnik's tumblr as a leading example of "a new vocabulary, a library of visual and aural iconography that warmly appreciates female power in not just its nubile, but also its senior, its brainy, its furious, and its professionally brawny forms."
Knizhnik recently checked in with NYU Stories by phone-between court hearings in Washington D.C., where the soon-to-be third year law student is working for the Public Defender Service this summer. Below is a conversation on Ginsburg fandom and what it means for the future of feminism.

Why does Ruth Bader Ginsburg work as a meme? First of all, people really find her <keyword id="6358883" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Politics">politics</keyword> powerful. She's standing up to the conservative majority, who also happen to be men. So here's this liberal feminist voice from the court, writing with a lot of force-and she's also a 90-pound Jewish grandmother, which makes for a really amazing juxtaposition with the hip-hop reference in the name of the blog. She is an image of feminist rebellion, while still being a demure, quiet person in real life. People really find that attractive-and funny.
In addition to the Shelby County v. Holder and Burwell v. Hobby Lobby dissents, what makes your greatest hits list of RBG moments? I think I would be remiss if I didn't mention the Virginia Military Institute case (<a href="http://www.oyez.org/cases/1990-1999/1995/1995_94_1941">United States v. Virginia</a>), which was the first major women's rights case that she wrote the opinion for. We studied it in Constitutional Law. The court deemed that a state military institution cannot be single gender-for men only.
And as someone who wants to be a public defender, I find her writing on criminal justice powerful as well. On the blog I just featured a <a href="http://notoriousrbg.tumblr.com/post/90582969651/although-the-police-have-probable-cause-and-could">quote</a> from her dissent in the recent <a href="http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/13pdf/12-7822_he4l.pdf">Fernandez v. California</a> case, which had to do with whether you can consent to a house search on behalf of someone else in the house.
In <a href="http://www.newrepublic.com/article/118641/ruth-bader-ginsburg-memes-how-internet-fell-love-her">The New Republic</a> Rebecca Traister connected The Notorious R.B.G. to Tweets from Hillary and memes championing Wendy Davis' pink sneakers. Were you conscious of participating in a particular online movement when you created your blog? I definitely did not expect for Notorious R.B.G. to blow up the way it did, but it's definitely true that it has become part of this canon of feminist imagery that combines pop culture with powerful women. [Traister] asked me if I remembered anything like this from my youth, any images celebrating powerful women, and I couldn't really think of anything. So we are seeing a change with user-created content on platforms like tumblr-people are participating in a way that wasn't possible before. It's also a testament to the fact that the new feminism is not opposed to pop culture.
People often toss around phrases from political speeches, but it seems unusual for lines of legalese to make it into the blogosphere. What is it about Ginsburg's writing that makes it so quotable? Ginsburg really makes a point to focus on the human aspect of the cases. When you're talking about a political campaign speech, there's a factor of lowest common denominator. You're trying to appeal as many people as possible, so there are platitudes, and you have to massage things in a certain way. But when you're dealing with a particular case, as the Supreme Court does, there are actual people involved with lives and interests at stake. And when Ginsburg writes, it's really clear that she's focused on the implications for people's lives. 
Have you heard what Justice Ginsburg thinks of the blog-if she's even aware of it? I have heard through various channels that she has seen it. A friend of mine just emailed me to say that he asked her about it at an intellectual property conference in Italy, and she said that she loves it. He said she gave out [Notorious R.B.G.] swag to her clerks, so I'm pretty sure she both knows about it and likes it. That makes me feel good.
What will Ginsburg's legacy be? Will her eloquent dissents make the history books-or will this be a time remembered for decisions by the conservative majority? I'm hopeful that it's the former rather than the latter. We're in a time with politics more fragmented and polarized than most people have ever seen before. People talk about the fact that if R.B.G. were nominated for the Court today with the same record that she had back when she was appointed in 1993, she probably would not be confirmed. She worked for the ACLU, which is kind of a death mark for judicial nominations nowadays.
And of course there is a lot of talk about her retiring, basically as preventative measure in the event of a Republican president in 2016. As a rational matter, maybe that's right. But thinking about her as a person, I think she should be doing the job for as long as she can. There's a quote on the blog about how she writes dissents for a future age-that's how she thinks about it. And there are ways that dissents can change the law and set out what should happen in the future.
Do you think she'll ever write a memoir? I hope she does! Her life story is remarkably inspiring: She's the second woman appointed to the Supreme Court, and before that she litigated several of the major women's rights cases of the '70s. And while she was in law school, she would take notes and type up her husband's papers because he was ill-all while going to school during the day and then coming home to take care of her child. As someone who's currently in law school, it's impossible for me to fathom that!
Any other feminist pop-culture blogs we should keep our eye on? <a href="http://beyoncevoters.tumblr.com/">Beyonce Voters</a> is really the one to watch right now. Basically it takes Beyonce and other hip-hop and R&amp;B lyrics and matches them with powerful public figures. (Obama's on there too, even though he's a man.) The phrase "Beyonce voters" came from someone on <a href="http://mediamatters.org/video/2014/07/01/foxs-watters-single-women-are-beyonce-voters-wh/199948">Fox News</a> talking about single women who are supposedly dependent on the government because they have no husbands to depend on-as if those are the only two options. So it's clearly this was meant to be a negative thing, and now we're sort of taking it back.
