Real estate decarbonisation startup Accacia raises $2.5 million in seed round

Also, its stellar subscription numbers might push people who have applied for the stock not allotted to try and buy on the first day. Tata Technologies IPO which broke a record with the number of applications is expected. The QIB portion of the issue was subscribed 200 times over the shares on offer. The non-institutional and retail investors’ interest paled in comparison as these quotas were subscribed 62 times and 16 times respectively. Thanks to the buzz, an analyst said that it could provide super-premium listing gains. Not only does the engineering R&amp;D player have a well-established business model, the Tata name worked wonders for the interest in the stock. “There is a high possibility that Tata Technologies can be a doubler candidate post listing. Given the growth potential in outsourcing, the business model would be in great demand going forward. We recommend allotted investors to book 50% profits over and above our expectations and retain the rest for the long-term,” said Prashanth Tapse, research analyst, senior VP of research at Mehta Equities.

<ul><li>Strong IPO buzz and heavy marketing drive up listing gains of a few stocks, which should be encashed, advise experts.</li><li>Retail investors should refrain from participating in IPOs, and wait for six months for a stock to cool off.</li><li>Ideaforge, Netweb Technologies, Aeroflex Industries, Utkarsh Small Finance Bank gave good listing gains, but fell flat after. </li></ul>It’s been a fabulous week for investors who applied to initial public offers (IPOs) hoping to make a killing on listing day. Tata Technologies gave a stellar triple-digit listing gains, IREDA was very close to doubling wealth with 87% gains and small-cap stock Gandhar too presented a pleasant surprise with 78% gains. Those who were lucky enough to be allotted these stocks are left with the question — should I sell or hold on for more gains in the future? Experts say that bumper gains are a cue for them to make money, especially in stocks which saw sharp gains. “The recent IPOs of Tata Technologies, IREDA, Gandhar Oil were attractively priced. Therefore, they saw bumper gains on listing day. We believe that investors are better off by selling such shares and locking in listing gains. In most cases, stocks do give opportunity to re-enter at lower levels,” Apurva Sheth, head of market perspectives &amp; research at SAMCO Securities tells Business Insider India. ‘IPO value not true value’ The IPO season of 2023 has been rewarding for investors. The average listing gain has been 29.4% for debuts till the first half of the year, according to Primedatabase. But companies that saw stellar listing gains like Ideaforge shed a part of its value over time. The stock performance of other debut-stars like Netweb Technologies, Aeroflex Industries and Utkarsh Small Finance Bank has been tepid after stellar listing gains. Vishnu prakash R Punglia and Cyient DLM however are exceptions. Extremely high investor interest, heavy subscriptions in the IPO period can turn the needle away from true valuations and their future potential, experts insist. “IPOs generating a strong buzz due to a unique business model, effective publicity and good brand identity can post a fair listing gain even in the event of lower earnings visibility, as a result of high demand from investors. If an investor is subscribing to such IPOs, they should look to book listing gains,” Sunil Shah, group CEO and MD at Khambatta Securities tells Business Insider India. Sell (Gandhar), Hold (Tata Tech) &amp; Accumulate (IREDA) Amongst freshly listed pack of companies, Prashanth Tapse, senior VP of research at Mehta Equities advises allotted investors of Tata Tech to book 50% profits if the stock moves over ₹1,400 and hold the rest for long term, as he believes the engineering R&amp;D major is a potential ‘doubler candidate’. The stock had closed at ₹1,314 on its debut on Thursday. At the same time, Tapse sees limited upside from the current levels for Gandhar Oil, which has managed to narrow the gap with peers. He advises its investors to book profits. For IREDA, he advises investors to ‘hold for long term’ and accumulate on dips as it holds the potential to provide healthy long term returns. “Companies with strong fundamentals, i.e. those with a proven solid business model and robust earnings visibility, are the ones investors should look to stay invested in,” says Shah. investors The IPO rush tends to ignore facts like overpriced issues and other troubles. The reason being the <keyword id="10639565" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ipo-financing" source="Orion">IPO financing</keyword> that large investors receive, who apply and sell immediately on allotment. But this liquidity leaves the stock, and that’s what drives prices down, insist experts. “IPO financing does drive up the demand for IPOs due to the additional liquidity it infuses, and it further brings in more investors looking for listing gains. That said, the recent curb on IPO financing imposed by the RBI and changes announced by SEBI relating to the allocation methodology are expected to negatively impact IPO financing,” said Shah. The impact of IPO financing driving up listing day gains is reducing. In April 2022, RBI mandated non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) to not lend more than ₹1 crore per borrower for subscribing in IPOs. Markets regulator SEBI too mandated to keep one third of the HNI quota shares for applicants below ₹10 lakh, which is also known as small HNI category. “All these measures led to considerable reduction in IPO financing. This has led to limited impact on the listing day,” says Sheth. Sheth also insists that IPOs are generally overpriced and retail investors are better off without participating in them. He insists that retail investors should get into newly listed six months after listing wherein the stock has had time to cool off and consolidate. Stellar listing gains: Book profits if there are bumper gains say experts

However, it fell around during the day, ending with flat listing gains of 0.18%. The grey market had expected listing gains of 15%. Its market capitalization is ₹1,677 crore, as per BSE. The ₹490.7 crore initial public offer was subscribed 31.65 times the shares on offer on the last day of the issue. Qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) bid aggressively for the shares and their portion was subscribed by 72.5 times over the shares on offer. SBI Securities says that its valuations are stretched taking into consideration weak cash flows and low return ratios. “However, being a unique business, the business may command a scarcity premium and long-term investors are recommended to subscribe to the issue. Listing gains are likely to remain tepid,” it said. Prashanth Tapse, research analyst and senior VP research at Mehta Equities said that the issue is asking for a marketcap of ₹1,674 crore with price to earnings ratio (P/E) of 33.69x on consolidated basis. “It sees the issue is fully priced-in looking at growth and expected outlook. We are inclined to recommend risk taking investors to ‘Subscribe with Risk’,” Tapse added. Arihant Capital however believes that Rishabh Instruments' IPO presents an opportunity to invest in a well-established company with a history of growth and innovation. “We are recommending ‘Subscribe for listing gains’ for this issue,” he said. The company founded by Narendra Joharimal Goliya, has over 40 years of experience in the manufacturing and electrical industry. Its energy efficiency solutions include automation, metering and measurement, precision engineered products and others to industries like power, automotive and industrial sectors. The company raised ₹147 crore from anchor investors like HDFC Mutual Fund, Nippon India Mutual Fund, Sundaram Mutual Fund, Tata Mutual Fund and more. The net proceeds from the offer will be utilised towards the expansion of its Nashik facility. DAM Capital Advisors, Mirae Asset Capital Markets and Motilal Oswal Investment Advisors are the book running lead managers of the issue while KFin Technologies is the registrar to the offer. The equity shares are proposed to be listed on BSE and NSE.

QIB rush. The IPO which is the first from the steel to power conglomerate in 13 years, was subscribed 37 times over the shares on offer. The Qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) rushed into bid for the offer on the last day as this portion was subscribed 57 times. Retail and non-institutional investor portions received good response. The offer, unlike most others, is a completely fresh issue. The second largest private port operator in the country intends to use the proceeds to pay loans. The rest will be used towards capex to commission and expand projects, besides general corporate purposes. The offer fixed a price band of ₹113-119 per equity share. Long-term play say analysts The company expanded from one port in Mormugao in 2002 to nine ports as of June, 2023. Its ports are present in Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka on the west coast, and Odisha and Tamil Nadu on the east coast. It also operates two port terminals under operations &amp; maintenance agreements in Fujairah Terminal and Dibba Port in the UAE. It also plans to expand its operations through brownfield and greenfield projects. It also has a third party cargo business in India and witnessed a compounded annual growth rate of 65% between FY21 to FY23. The company’s revenues and profits have been steadily growing for the last three years. Its total debt as of June 2034 is at ₹4,228 crore. “JSW Infra is well-positioned to benefit from the continued growth of the Indian economy. We think the company has diversified its cargo profile and geographical spread which have helped them to minimise the risk and ensure stability,said Prashanth Tapse, senior VP of research at Mehta Equities which recommends investors to ‘subscribe for long term’. “We like the way the company is strategically focusing on expanding its footprint in non-major ports which would help them to broaden their operations to provide fully integrated logistics solutions,”’ Tapse adds. An IPO note by Anand Rathi also says that JSW Infrastructure has strategically located assets at close proximity to JSW group customers and industrial clusters supported by a multi-modal evacuation infrastructure and predictable revenues. “At the upper price band, the company is valuing at P/E of 27x, with a marketcap of ₹2,49,900 million post issue of equity shares and return on net worth of 18.8%. We believe that valuations of the company are fairly priced and recommend a ‘subscribe-long term’ rating to the IPO,” said Anand Rathi.

JSW Infra lists at 20% premium in-line with grey market expectations

Bengaluru-based <keyword id="2778113" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rentomojo">Rentomojo</keyword>, a furnishing rental platform, has raised $2 million in Pre Series A from <keyword id="144381" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Accel-Partners">Accel Partners</keyword> and <keyword id="145350" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IDG-Ventures">IDG Ventures</keyword>. 
 
Founded in 2014 by IIT Madras alumni, Geetansh Bamania and Ajay Nain, Rentomojo lets users rent furniture and home furnishings for a minimum period of three months. 
 
After the funding, Venkatesh Peddi from IDG Ventures India and Prashanth Prakash from Accel Partners have joined the board of Directors of Rentomojo, which currently operates in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Pune and Bengaluru. 
 
Bamania, co-founder and CEO, Rentomojo said, “We are witnessing the birth of Access Economy with the advent of Airbnb, Uber, Rentherunway and the likes. We want our users to get an access to a personalized lifestyle without actually owning it. We work as a marketplace and keep this business asset light.” 
 
Accel Partners was one of the first investors for Flipkart, Freshdesk, Myntra and Commonfloor as well. meanwhile, IDG Ventures India is part a global network of technology venture funds and has invested in Flipkart, Yatra, Newgen, Brainbees (FirstCry.com), Vserv, Manthan Software, Valyoo (Lenskart.com), Ozone Media and Actoserba (Zivame.com).

Furnishing rental platform, Rentomojo, gets Pre Series A funding, raises $2 million

<keyword id="6360722" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="ratan-tata">Ratan Tata</keyword>’s investment in fashion portal for women's wear- Kaaryah- has highlighted how business tycoons are showing keen interest in start-ups and backing ideas and designs. 
 Nidhi Agarwal, founder of <keyword id="2741894" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="KAARYAH">Kaaryah</keyword>, said she had sought Tata’s investment after her father advised on it. 
 
It was only after her father pointed to a newspaper report about Tata funding eCommerce start-ups that Agarwal e-mailed on Tata's address. 
Three months on, her online fashion retail got the good news. 
 
So what does investment by Tata mean for her? "To begin with, your newspaper is calling me," the former Bain &amp; Company consultant told Economic Times, referring to media attention. 
 
She is one of the 10 entrepreneurs in India's fast growing start-up ecosystem who have received backing from Tata. 
 
Tata first invested in March 2014 in Altaeros Energies, a wind energy start-up founded by graduates of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. 
 
“While instant fame is one of the advantages of having the 77-year-old former chairman as an investor, the aura of the Tata name can rub off on startups that need to stand out from the crowd,” Rajiv Srivatsa, cofounder of online furniture retailer Urban Ladder, told ET. 
 
Srivatsa’s company received an investment last November and since then Tata has discussed everything from furniture design to supply chains and customer experience in three half-day sessions. 
 
R Venkataramanan, a close associate of Tata who advises him with startup investments, did not reply to Economic Times for this story. 
 
Venture capital investor as Prashanth Prakash, a partner with Accel, told the financial daily that Tata's willingness to back entrepreneurs boldly stands out, and he is also able to fill the existing gaps in the industry. "It's really not about the money - he is willing to be upfront about associating with startups he picks, risking his own brand," Prakash who is a co-investor with Tata in online jewellery retailer Bluestone, told ET. 
 
So, what does it feel like to be making a pitch to Tata?
