The Centre on Wednesday said more than Rs 75,000 crore investment is likely to be attracted in the food processing sector during the second edition of the <keyword id="4229507" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="world-food-india" source="Orion">World Food India</keyword> to be held from November 3-5 in the national capital. The first edition was held in 2017, but in consecutive years the international event could not be organised due to the COVID-19 pandemic. "We have requested Prime Minister (<keyword id="6354477" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="narendra-modi" source="Orion">Narendra Modi</keyword>) to inaugurate World Food India (WFI) 2023 to be held at <keyword id="6358365" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="pragati-maidan" source="Orion">Pragati Maidan</keyword> here. For the valedictory function, the President of India will be present," Minister of State for <keyword id="174650" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="food-processing-industries" source="Orion">Food Processing Industries</keyword> Prahlad Singh Patel said. There are a lot of opportunities for investment in India's food processing sector. Some companies have already made an indicative investment commitment, to be announced during the World Food India 2023, he said. The minister said, "China has not been invited for the event due to strategic reasons." Around 16 countries, 23 state governments, 11 Union ministries and central bodies will participate in the event that is likely to have 950 exhibitors and 75,000 visitors, he said. The Netherlands will be a partner country for the World Food India 2023, while the focused countries will be Japan and Vietnam, he added. Additional Secretary in the Food Processing Industries Minhaj Alam, in his presentation, said about Rs 642 crore indicated investment has been committed by Britannia, GreenGrahi, Foods and Inns Ltd, St Peter &amp; Paul Sea Food Exports as well as US-based General Mills so far. A verbal investment commitment has been received from Swiss-based Buhler Group, US-based Mondelez and Coca Cola and UAE-based Lulu Group, he said. "We are expecting to cross Rs 75,000 crore investment this time," Alam told PTI on the sidelines of the press briefing. Asked about the status of investment received in the first edition of the World Food India, the official said, "We had received a commitment for an investment of Rs 75,000 crore, out of which Rs 23,000 crore has come." The investments were expected to fructify in three years. Due to the pandemic, there was a delay, he added. Sanoj Kumar Jha, Additional Secretary in the Food Processing Industries, was also present at the briefing. The focus areas would be millets, unlocking the potential for growth, positioning India as the global hub, efficient ecosystem, and sustainable development. The event will see 60 to 80 chefs making the world's longest '<keyword id="9463" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="millet" source="Orion">Millet</keyword> dosa' of over 100 feet in attempt to set a Guinness Record.

Govt expects over Rs 75,000 crore investment during World Food India

Delhi’s <keyword id="6358365" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pragati-Maidan">Pragati Maidan</keyword>, which hosts an array of exhibitions like India International Trade Fair, is going to be upgraded to global standards. 
 The iconic exhibition ground is getting a facelift at the tune of around Rs 3,000 crore as per an <keyword id="3134335" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="ITPO-blueprint">ITPO blueprint</keyword>. 
 
The blueprint includes a state-of-the-art convention centre to accommodate 7,000 delegates, modern centres etc. 
 
"This is my top priority. All the necessary approvals would be taken in maximum 3-4 months. The amount worked out is in the range of Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000 crore. It will take around 3-4 years to complete the project. It will be done in two phases," said India Trade Promotion Organisation CMD L C Goyal. 
 
As per the plan, the existing state pavilions will be developed in a manner in which they will be also used to hold public interactions. 
 
In the first phase, the non-air condition halls would be demolished and re-constructed; later, the remaining halls will be developed. 
 
"The idea is to make Pragati Maidan a major promotor of trade, commerce and exhibition. The proposal also include multi-level parking facilities and open space area," said Goyal. 
 
Once upgraded, the 'Auto Expo' again, which is currently shifted at Greater Noida, will be back to Pragati Maidan again. 
 
The plan envisages increasing the operational area from 60,000 sq mt to about 2 lakh sq mt. 
 
The proposal will be cleared first by the ITPO board and then by the Commerce and Industry Ministry, Finance Ministry and finally it would be sent for the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs' nod, he said.

In a conversation with IANS, Sun who is an industry veteran with more than 18 years, said that the more informed the governments are on AI, the more enlightened decisions can be made to accelerate innovation without harming end-users. "The more we connect with the government on building responsible AI together, the more it will also become easier for us to innovate while talking about proper regulations for the whole industry," he noted. Government officials further emphasize that the mobile is also a navigation facility that helps the foreign delegates move from place to place in the country and to the Bharat Mandapam. With the G20 India app, the Indian ministers can overcome language as well as communication barriers with the foreign delegates. The G20 India mobile app has services built in which people can access in 24 languages. India is all set to host the G20 Summit in New Delhi from September 9-10. World leaders will arrive in New Delhi to attend the G20 Summit. The summit will be hosted at the state-of-the-art Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Commuters are advised to plan their journey accordingly." Apart from traffic jams, waterlogging was reported in all the low lying areas of the city. According to the authorities, multiple flights were delayed, while two have been diverted so far to Amritsar and Jaipur. Waterlogging and traffic jams in Delhi as heavy rains lash the capital

Automotive start-up EVTRIC Motors has unveiled its e-delivery scooter in the low-speed category at the EV Expo 2021 that will offer a range of 110 kms on a single charge. Showcased at the event held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi over the weekend, the scooter can clock a speed of 25 kms per hour. It features 12-inch tubeless tyres and a loading capacity of 150 kg. Homegrown startup EVTRIC’s electric scooter can go up to 110 kilometres on a single charge, company claims

New Delhi, Nov 14 () The fourteen-day India International Trade Fair opened here on Thursday albeit with lesser availability of space this year owing to Pragati Maidan's ongoing make-over.
 Union Transport and MSME Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the fair and suggested that the ITPO (India Trade Promotion Organisation) should explore public-private-partnership model to build 30 to 40 mega exhibition-cum-convention centres across the country.
 "By supporting government as a facilitator we can make atleast 30 to 40 centres like Pragati Maidan in the country. This country needs and the government's capacity is limited, budgetary constraints are there but this activity by supporting some government equity, we can make it economically viable," Gadkari said adding that this type of activity is going to create more employment opportunities.
 Besides, Gadkari highlighted that the World Bank, ADB and KfW are ready to provide a credit line for MSMEs at a low interest cost and, he wants to provide this credit line to the poor and economically backward entrepreneurs in backward areas.
 Organisers of the fair ITPO expressed confidence that the redevelopment of Pragati Maidan into a state-of-the-art integrated exhibition cum convention centre (IECC) shall be completed before the end of next year.
 The ITPO is the nodal agency under the administrative control of the Commerce Ministry entrusted with the redevelopment of Pragati Maidan.
 In his address, ITPO CMD L C Goyal gave an assurance that the IITF 2020 would be five times bigger than the scale on which the fair is being held this year.
 "I am quite confident that before the end of next year would deliver this project (IECC)," Goyal said.
 Several countries, including Australia, Iran, the UK and Vietnam will participate in the 14-days fair.
 The theme for the 39th edition of the fair (November 14-27, 2019) is 'Ease of Doing Business' inspired by the unique achievement of India for rising to the 63rd rank on the World Bank's Ease of Doing Business Index from 142nd rank in year 2014.
 This year the status of 'Partner Country' has been accorded to 'the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan' and 'the Republic of Korea' will be the 'Focus Country'.
 Bihar and Jharkhand will be the focus states in this edition of the fair. Entry tickets for business days per person will be available for Rs 500 and season ticket for Rs 1,800.
 For all visitors during public days (November 19-27, 2019), ticket charges will be Rs 60 (adult) and Rs 40 (child) on working days and on Saturday or Sunday or Public Holiday the tickets will be Rs 120 (adult) and Rs 60 (child). RSN SHW

New Delhi, Jun 9 () A Delhi government panel has suggested using Pragati Maidan, Talkatora Indoor Stadium, Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium and JLN Stadium as makeshift COVID-19 facility to deal with the surge in number of cases, an official said Tuesday. The official said that the panel, constituted by Lt Governor Anil Baijal, has also suggested using Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium and Dhyanchand National Stadium for the purpose.
