<keyword id="29441" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bhaichung-Bhutia">Bhaichung Bhutia</keyword>, former Indian national team captain, has been inducted to the Asian Footaball Confederation’s (<keyword id="85214" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="AFC">AFC</keyword>’s) Hall of Fame, a letter from Dato Alex Soosay, Dato Alex Soosay, general secretary of AFC, wrote in a letter to the All India Football Federation (<keyword id="50985" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="AIFF">AIFF</keyword>) on Wednesday. 
 
“The AFC is celebrating its 60th Anniversary in Philippines on November 30 this year where a joint event will take place to celebrate the Anniversary as well as reward Asia’s finest at the AFC Annual Awards. It is my pleasure to announce that India’s legendary Player Mr. Bhaichung Bhutia has been selected to be honoured as an inductee to the AFC”s Hall of Fame,” Soosay wrote in the letter. 
 
Besides Bhaichung, nine other legendary players from Asia would also be honoured. The awards are being instituted for the first time and Bhaichung is the lone Indian in the glittering list. 
 
The Sikkim-born striker thanked AFC for selecting him into the Hall of Fame. “It’s a great honour for me. I need to thank AFC for finding me competent enough. I also need to thank All India Football Federation for their continuous support.” 
 
According to Bhaichung, this won’t have ever been possible without the support of all his teammates, guidance of his coaches and clubs he has represented. “A special thanks for all my fans for standing beside me. This Award more for you than mine,” he said. 
 
AIFF president Praful Patel and general secretary Kushal Das congratulated Bhaichung. 
 
“Bhaichung has been the flag bearer of Indian Football in over 100 International matches. My heartiest congratulations to him! Post retirement, he has been closely associated with AIFF and we expect to work closely for the development of the sport in the Country,” Praful Patel, president of AIFF, said his congratulatory message. 
 
AIFF general secretary Kushal Das asserted, “It’s a huge honour for Indian Football. Being an inductee into AFC’s Hall of Fame is recognition of all his hard work and commitment. We at AIFF are very proud of his achievements and look forward for his involvement as we move ahead.”

Ajit Pawar and Chhagan Bhujbal along with Dilip Patil, Hasan Mushrif, Dhananjay Mundo, Dharmaraobaba Atram, Aditi Tatkare, Sanjay Bansode and Anil Patil joined Eknath Shinde-Devendra Fadnavis Maharashtra government on Sunday. Sharad Pawar has removed his close aide Praful Patel and Sunil Tatkare from the party for "anti-party activities". "Your actions of supporting Ajit Pawar and the eight other MLAs, who have sworn oath as Ministers in violation of the party's direction and mandate, ex-facie amount to anti-party activities and that you deemed to have voluntarily left the membership of Nationalist Congress Party," Pawar said in a communication which was also sent to the two party MPs. "I formally remove your names from the Membership Register of the Party in view of your actions of voluntarily giving up membership of the Nationalist Congress Party," it said. The communication said the action of MPs, "in a surreptitious manner, without the knowledge or consent of the party president, amounts to the desertion of the party, which in turn invites disqualification from primary membership". Praful Patel, a Rajya Sabha MP, has been a close associate of Pawar and was appointed working president of NCP last month. Veteran Bollywood actress Shashikala dies at 88

New Delhi, Apr 14 () The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has lauded India's national federation and players for helping the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic by making financial contributions and taking part in charity initiatives. In its latest newsletter, the AFC has praised the member associations, including India, which are doing a "lot of social work to help the distressed in this hour of global crisis." "The All India Football Federation (AIFF), the Guam Football Association (GFA), the J.League and the Wuhan Football Association have helped by giving donations, promoting public awareness messages and opening training centres to house medical teams," AFC stated in a press release.The AIFF contributed Rs 25 lakh to Prime Minister CARES Fund. "...players from India - Pritam Kotal, Pronoy Halder, Prabir Das and Arindam Bhattacharjee - have contributed a combined total of Rs 145,000 to various charities and donated food, and organised feeding the poor programmes in the country," the AFC said. AFC lauds AIFF, Indian players for contribution in fight against COVID-19

Patel, who is the convenor of the committee. Addressing a crowded media conference, Patel said that the panel's decision on two resolutions - rejecting the resignation and urging him to continue as party chief - shall be conveyed to Pawar for his final call in the matter. The committee also resolved that it was unable to elect another President in place of Pawar and requested him to continue till his full term ended, indicating that the party has fully united under him vis-A-vis recent speculation of a possible split. State President Jayant Patil said that the resolutions were passed in tune with everybody's expectations and now a team of senior leaders shall meet Pawar and convey it to him. The official decision was greeted with thunderous applause and cheers, tears of relief shed by some activists, singing and dancing by the party rank-and-file who had gathered outside the NCP headquarters. All India Football Federation pledges to donates ₹25 lakh to PM CARES Fund

The one-line whip issued on Tuesday by Jitendra Awhad, chief whip of the Sharad Pawar-led NCP, said the meeting has been called by Sharad Pawar at 1 pm at Y B Chavan Centre on July 5, and the presence of all MLAs is mandatory. Both male and female players won’t be able to participate in international tournaments till the ban is lifted, which includes the 2023 Asian Cup. In June, India’s football team captain Sunil Chhetri said a ban would be “catastrophic” for the country and him. “No matter what is happening on that front, I hope it is under control and the country does not get a ban. Because, that will be catastrophic, not just for the whole country but for me, because I’m 37. I’m playing my last games. You never know when there’s a last game for you,” said Chhetri. Indian professional football club based in Calicut, Gokulam Kerala, has already found itself stranded in Uzbekistan after the FIFA suspension. The team was scheduled to play at the AFC Women's Club Championship. On August 18, SC asked the centre to take a proactive role and ensure that India is able to host the U-17 Women’s World Cup in October. The men’s team is also scheduled to play Singapore and Vietnam in September and India’s participation in SAFF Women's Championship next month also looks uncertain. Tumsar seat and the Arjuni Morgaon seats are reserved for ST candidates while the remaining four are contestable by general candidates. For the upcoming 2019 general elections, BJP is fielding Rajkumar Badole from the Arjuni Morgaon constituency. As part of the pre-poll alliance with the BJP, Shiv Sena will field its candidate Yamini Jadhav from the Bhandara seat. Vijay Rahangadale will be the BJP candidate from the Tirora constituency. The election commission’s notification says all the Maharashtra assembly constituencies will face a single phase polling for the Vidhan Sabha elections 2019. The polling date is October 21, 2019 and the votes will be counted on October 24, 2019. During 2019 general elections for the parliament, Nanabhau Falgunrao Patole of the BJP had secured 149,254 seats more than the runner up candidate Patel Praful Manoharbhai and became the MP. In the 2014 assembly elections for the Vidhan Sabha of Maharashtra, BJP’s Waghamare Charan Sovinda had won from the Tumsar seat by securing 28679 votes more than NCP’s Kukade Madhukar Yashwantrao, from the Bhandara (SC) seat, BJP’s Avsare Ramchandra Punaji was the winner who scored more 36832 votes more than the BSP candidate Gadhave Dewangana Vijay. In the Sakoli constituency, Kashiwar Rajesh Lahanu of BJP had bagged 25489 votes more than INC’s Sevakbhau Nirdhan Waghaye. From the Arjuni Morgaon (SC) seat, BJP’s Badole Rajkumar Sudamji won over INC’s Nandagawali Rajesh Mulchand with a margin of 30295 votes. The winner from the Tirora seat was BJP’s Rahangdale Vijay Bharatlal who scored 13098 votes more than the runner up candidate Bansod Dilip Waman of the IND. From the Gondia seat, Agrawal Gopaldas Shankarlal of INC won with 10758 votes more than the BJP candidate Agrawal Vinodkumar.

New Delhi, Mar 18 () DMK parliamentarian T K S Elangovan on Wednesday expressed concern over the decline in the share of MSME sector in the country's GDP to 28 per cent from 45 per cent in 2011 and said smaller industries were suffering due to lack of bank financing. Initiating the discussion on working of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), he said the allocation to the sector was lowered in the revised estimate during 2018-19. Elangovan said micro, small and medium enterprises need funds for technology upgradation and infrastructure, but banks were not proving funds. The government should support small industries and banks should lend, he added. Stating that the MSME sector provide huge employment opportunities to people, the DMK leader said the government should re-evaluate its strategy and provide support to this sector for economic development of the country. Countering his charges, Arun Singh of the BJP highlighted various initiatives by the central government to strengthen the MSME sector. He said there was no development in the MSME sector in the last 70 years because of piecemeal approach by previous governments. Participating in the discussion, Amee Yajnik of the Congress said demonetisation has finished this sector and "we have to face it". "You cannot run away, you cannot remain in denial mode," she said, requesting the minister to look into the budgetary allocation and consider simplification of schemes so that it can reach the last person. A Vijayakumar of the AIADMK said Tamil Nadu continues to be a vibrant industrial state with a large base of big factories and small units, with the state having an estimated seven lakh registered MSMEs or 15.1 percent of all such units in the country. "I urge the government to allocate Rs 5,000 crore as one-time special package to support the MSME sector in Tamil Nadu," he said, adding that because of the coronavirus outbreak, the production has been suffering for two months. Ravi Prakash Verma of the Samajwadi Party said MSME units are the backbone of the economy but the sector is facing distress due to various factors. He urged the Centre to raise the budgetary allocation for the MSME ministry. As per Budget estimates, an outlay of Rs 7,572 crore has been earmarked for the MSME Ministry for 2020-21. Sasmit Patra of the BJD said the coronavirus outbreak is going to negatively impact the MSME sector. Elamaram Kareem of the CPIM said MSMEs play a crucial role in providing large-scale job opportunities with the sector employing over 11 crore people. He said the MSME sector has suffered the most due to demonetisation and "unscientific implementation" of the Goods and Services Tax (GST). Anil Desai of the Shiv Sena said consumption slowdown and liquidity constraints have severely impacted the MSME sector. Manoj Kumar Jha of the RJD said the government and Opposition parties can collectively draw a blueprint to help the MSME sector. He said signals are "worrisome" and the sector is going to "bleed" particularly in view of the economic slowdown. Binoy Viswam of the CPI said if the government is serious about MSMEs, first of all it should undertake a study on the impact of demonetisation on the sector. The country is scheduled to host the FIFA tournament from October 11-30. This is the first time the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has been banned by FIFA in its 85 year history. "The <keyword id="14728460" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="bureau-of-the-fifa-council" source="Orion">Bureau of the FIFA Council</keyword> has unanimously decided to suspend the All India Football Federation (AIFF) with immediate effect due to undue influence from third parties, which constitutes a serious violation of the FIFA Statutes," the FIFA said in a statement. The Bureau of the FIFA Council said the lifting of the suspension will be subject to repealing of the Committee of Administrators' (CoA) mandate in full. In a statement, the FIFA also said it wants the AIFF administration to "be fully in charge of the AIFF's daily affairs". "The suspension means that the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2022, scheduled to take place in India on 11-30 October 2022, cannot currently be held in India as planned. FIFA is assessing the next steps with regard to the tournament and will refer the matter to the Bureau of the Council if and when necessary. A ban on India has been on the cards since the <keyword id="6354977" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="supreme-court" source="Orion">Supreme Court</keyword> removed Praful Patel as AIFF president on May 18 for not holding elections, due in December 2020. The court had appointed a three-member Committee of Administrators (CoA), headed by former apex court judge AR Dave, to manage the affairs of the national federation. The CoA, which has former Chief Commissioner of India SY <keyword id="208659" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="quraishi" source="Orion">Quraishi</keyword> and ex India captain Bhaskar Ganguly as other members, also had to frame its constitution in line with the <keyword id="1461378" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="national-sports-code" source="Orion">National Sports Code</keyword> and model guidelines. The Bureau of the FIFA Council decided that upon lifting of the suspension, the AIFF constitution will have to be revised in accordance with the requirements of the FIFA and the <keyword id="85214" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="afc" source="Orion">AFC</keyword> and to be approved by the AIFF general assembly without interference from any third party. The FIFA, "concurrently", wants an "independent electoral committee to be elected by the AIFF general assembly to run the elections of a new executive committee". As per the FIFA move, AIFF will lose all membership rights until further notice. "This also means neither the AIFF nor any of its members or officials may benefit from any development programmes, courses or training from FIFA and/or the AFC," the world body said in its detailed statement. Following the ban, the fate of the AIFF elections, to be held on August 28 on the orders of the Supreme is not yet known. The poll process began on August 13 as the top court approved the time-line prepared by the Committee of Administrators (CoA). The CoA has already appointed returning officers and has published the electoral college for the elections, including 36 eminent players in the list. The filing of nominations is to start from Wednesday till Friday. The Supreme Court on August 3 directed the executive committee of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to expeditiously hold elections as per the schedule proposed by the CoA. India's football fraternity is hoping that a last-minute solution will salvage the FIFA under-17 women's world cup when the Supreme Court hears the matter on Wednesday.

The PM, sources say, said that India needed GST and then the FM took over, explaining to the opposition why their positions, like capping tax rate at 18% in the GST statute, had to be reconsidered. He added that while a poor GST was not an option, their other demands will be duly considered.

The FM, very smartly negotiated the terms so that political rivalries didn’t hinder the implementation process. 
 
In total, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/gst-council-clears-almost-allrules-except-for-remaining-four/articleshow/57959857.cms">GST council </a>had 12 meetings; however, from the second meeting itself, there were signs of political bitterness raising its head, which is why the government decided to seek consensus and encourage everyone to offer solutions. 
 
While taking care of the taxation, the government had to get into intense detailing with the tax administration, which is when it demonstrated that it had no intention of cornering states.

The PM had a message for his team working on GST, which was to work at top speed without compromising with the quality. The team included hundreds of officials spread in small groups, solving difficult questions of both producing and consuming states and working for a period of more than eight months, including holidays and weekends. 
 
"It took us several months and many informal discussions to reach a consensus on how the final draft should look like," said a top official.
