"The framework on Repairability Index aimed to provide consumers with essential information about product repairability besides seamless access to spare parts will enable informed purchasing decisions," the DoCA said in a statement. The committee, which includes representatives from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and industry stakeholders, is expected to submit a comprehensive report on the Repairability Index framework by November 15. The key components of the proposed Repair Ecosystem include comprehensive repair information, accessible spare parts, affordable tools, modular product design and ensuring the economic feasibility of repairs for consumers. "By standardising the assessment of repairability, the index will create an ecosystem where consumers can easily compare products and choose options that align with the ethos of mindful consumption and sustainability," the DoCA statement said.

According to the previous rule, the sitting of the Assembly on Friday used to be adjourned at 11 am to facilitate Muslim members to go for <keyword id="22977239" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="namaaz" source="keywords">namaaz</keyword>, but, as per the new rule, the Assembly will conduct its proceedings without any adjournment for religious purposes. As per the order, the proposal was first presented to the Rules Committee headed by Biswajit Daimary, Speaker of the Assembly, which unanimously agreed to drop this rule. The official order reads, "Since the creation of the Assam Legislative Assembly, the sitting of the Assembly on Friday used to be adjourned at 11 am to facilitate Muslim members to go for namaaz. The Assembly used to resume its proceedings in the post-lunch session after the Muslim members had come back from the namaaz. On all other days, the House used to conduct its proceedings without any such adjournment for religious purposes." It further read, "Biswajit Daimary, Hon'ble Speaker took note of this matter and in view of the secular nature of the Constitution, proposed that the Assam Legislative Assembly must conduct its proceedings on Fridays like any other day without any adjournment to facilitate Muslim members to go for namaaz. "Accordingly, the proposal to do away with this rule in the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly was placed before the Rules Committee headed by the Hon'ble Speaker. The Rules Committee unanimously agreed to drop this rule. Accordingly, today, the House adopted a motion to amend this rule so as to provide for sitting of the House for conduct of its proceedings on Fridays like any other day. Then, kids started asking to join.</li></ul>As my daughters <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/facing-back-to-school-when-your-kid-may-not-make-it-back-to-school-2023-8">prepared to return to school last January</a>, I reviewed our schedule. My fourth grader and kindergartener were signed up for the swim team for the first time. To get them to the practices three afternoons a week, I would need to stop working about an hour earlier than usual. It wasn't ideal.Then I thought, "Why can't they just walk?" The pool was on a college campus, only <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/swiss-vs-american-parenting-differences-independence-freedom-culture-shock-2024-5">three blocks away</a> from their school.I grew up walking a half mile to and from school every day. He worried that our 9-year-old would be fine, but our 5-year-old might cause trouble. They were immediately excited about the idea. They love going places directly after school, and the novelty of a walk with no adults was appealing. Eventually I told the school the girls would be "walkers." We covered crosswalk safety and made them promise to stay together.I emphasized that help was always nearby if they needed it. It's important to me that they feel safe in our community and know that they can count on our neighbors — even the ones they've never met. I reminded them that they could always go back to school, into the police station along the route, or into the college athletic center and ask to use the phone.I assured the girls they could do this, but they didn't need to hear that — they weren't worried at all.<h2 id="1eb7e748-8fb3-4587-9880-108cf0259496">Four families were walking by the end of swim practice</h2>On the first day of swim I finished work and headed to the pool. I held my breath as I <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/american-family-living-in-netherlands-new-perspective-on-modesty-2022-1">went into the locker room</a> and breathed a sigh of relief when I saw both girls changed for swimming and having a snack."Did they walk?" another mom asked me at pickup. She wasn't sure if her two daughters could handle the walk, but soon, they were asking to walk with my kids. By the end of swim season, four sets of siblings were walking from school to practice. I have no idea if that happened because I was the one to break the ice, but it was really heartening to see more kids walking independently. The kids loved it so much that they chose walking over a ride, even on the coldest days.I have so many fond memories from walking to and from school, whether chatting with the crossing guard, making up silly games, or just exploring with friends. Walking to swim gave my kids, and eventually their friends, the unsupervised, independent space to have similar experiences.I never want them to miss out on opportunities just because I'm worried about what others might think, and I don't want the culture of helicopter parenting to dictate what's right for my family. So this year, come swim season, they'll once again be walking, and I hope their friends will join.

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Yale has hundreds of organizations and clubs for students, but they don't accept just anyone.</li><li>Yalies have to apply, audition, and rush these organizations, so it's a competitive tradition.</li></ul><a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/yale-university-freshman-dorm-room-college-student-2023-12">At Yale's</a> start of every school year, the first few weeks are the most hectic — and competitive.As a sophomore at the <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/ivy-league-grad-tuition-student-loans-special-privileges-2024-10">Ivy League</a> school, I know how busy the beginning of the year is, especially when it comes to rushing academic clubs and organizations. At Yale, you can't simply just join some clubs and organizations. You have to rush — or apply and try out.More than 500 active student organizations are on campus, and there's something for everyone. Most clubs don't engage in a rush process, but many do, primarily due to space and funding. Rush is common for social groups (<a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/son-joined-fraternity-college-warned-not-to-2024-3">fraternities and sororities</a>), performance groups, academic competition groups, and finance organizations.Because Yalies are multi-talented, we tend to rush many groups at once, which can get stressful. Plus, these groups can't function if they accept everyone who tries out, so it gets fairly competitive.Since it's such a stressful process for many students, it's considered a controversial tradition on <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/what-a-weekend-is-like-yale-student-campus-2023-12">Yale's campus</a>.Here's what it was like for me to rush two organizations during my <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/life-skills-crash-course-child-survive-freshman-year-college-2024-1">freshman year</a>.<h2 id="c39c6134-3013-4ff5-a936-29b4fe0d5227">My rush, thankfully, wasn't too complicated</h2>As a freshman, I decided to rush two clubs: the <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/undergrad-vs-grad-school-pros-cons-cost-specialty-social-life-2024-2">undergraduate</a> moot court team and the Purple Crayon improv group.The moot court team application included space to discuss my interests and some fun questions about seahorses just for kicks; I appreciated the levity. For my in-person tryout, I gave mock arguments in front of <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/work-friends-are-over-remote-jobs-gen-z-relationships-pandemic-2024-6">team members</a>.As for the improv groups, they go above and beyond to make auditioning a fun experience for everyone. After watching them at the improv showcase, I knew I wanted to try out for the Purple Crayon. I had so much fun that when a second group asked me to try out as I was leaving my Crayon audition, I decided to just for fun.At times, it was hard to figure out precisely what was expected of me during the initial audition phases. Of course, I knew what each group did, but since I had never done moot court or improv before the auditions, there were some moments when I made some silly mistakes.Throughout the whole process, I felt fairly relaxed. I knew friends going through <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/pitch-perfect-10th-anniversary-behind-scenes-a-cappella-boot-camp-2022-10">a capella</a> rush and finance club rush who were having way more stressful times, though.Thankfully, all went well for me. I got callbacks to both improv groups and moot court. Each group sent really lovely emails about how excited they were for callbacks. They also included notes on what I needed to improve on.The improv callbacks were just as busy as the initial audition, while the moot callback was another solo argument. I acted on <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-deal-with-giving-constant-feedback-career-development-2021-10">my feedback</a> as much as possible.In the end, I was accepted to all of the groups, but I ultimately had to pick one <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/american-millennial-living-abroad-spain-overcome-loneliness-friends-improv-comedy-2024-10">improv group</a> to join, as you can't be in more than one, so I chose the Purple Crayon.<h2 id="cc0935b7-841d-40b3-ad39-26a65e89eb15">Rush is necessary for clubs to function at Yale</h2>Now, as a sophomore, I've helped run the moot court <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/nfl-cheerleader-audition-process-after-giving-up-dance-2024-2">tryout process</a>, so I've been on both sides of the table.I understand the complaints. I understand how rushing can be stressful and intimidating. I also know that all of this can feel arbitrary, especially with the secrecy that often surrounds the deliberation process. Joining certain groups can feel like either getting or losing a golden ticket.However, overall, the system would be unable to maintain itself without a rush process. There are simply too many Yalies who want to do too many amazing things. Some organizations handle the rush process better than others, but the process is necessary overall.While rush is a chaotic couple of days, I learned it doesn't have to make or break a <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/yale-freshman-long-lasting-friendships-2024-6">Yale experience</a>.

The <keyword id="20055654" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bar-Council-of-India" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Bar Council of India" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Bar Council of India">Bar Council of India</keyword> (<keyword id="20055655" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bci" source="keywords">BCI</keyword>) has directed all <keyword id="22332741" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="State-Bar-Councils" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="State Bar Councils" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="State Bar Councils">State Bar Councils</keyword> to take stringent <keyword id="22258153" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="disciplinary-actions" source="keywords">disciplinary actions</keyword> against <keyword id="21509125" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="advocates" source="keywords">advocates</keyword> found advertising or seeking work through online portals, which is a direct violation of the Bar Council of India rules. The Bar Council of India has issued directives and cease and desist notices in compliance with a judgment pronounced on July 3, 2024 by the <keyword id="19900621" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Madras-High-Court" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Madras High Court" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Madras High Court">Madras High Court</keyword>. The judgment underscores that the legal profession is a noble service to society and not a business driven by profit motives. In this regard, BCI directs the online platform to remove all listings, profiles, and advertisements related to <keyword id="22033472" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="legal-practice" source="keywords">legal practice</keyword>s by advocates immediately and no later than four weeks from the date of the notice. Cease and desist any operations enabling the advertisement or solicitation of legal practice by advocates. Submit a detailed compliance report outlining the actions taken to the BCI by August 10, 2024 Failure to comply with these directives will result in the BCI initiating legal proceedings and seeking appropriate penalties against the non-compliant organizations, stated BCI. All portals, <keyword id="19984289" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="online-platforms" source="keywords">online platforms</keyword>, and advocates found in violation of Rule-36 of the Bar Council of India Rules are hereby issued a public notice to ensure strict compliance with these Rules immediately. Any advertisements contravening the aforementioned Rule must be withdrawn forthwith, stated BCI. Practices of online platforms offering lawyer services were examined and found to be in violation of the <keyword id="22332742" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="BCI-Rules" source="keywords">BCI Rules</keyword>. The permissibility of <keyword id="22332740" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="lawyers-advertising" source="keywords">lawyers advertising</keyword> and soliciting work was scrutinized and deemed inappropriate. The involvement of online intermediaries in facilitating lawyer services was assessed and found to be in breach of professional conduct standards. The court ruled that online platforms cannot seek protection under Section 79 of the Information Technology Act for activities illegal under the Advocates Act and BCI Rules, added Bar Council of India's statement. Recently Madras High Court directed BCI to issue Circulars/Instructions/Guidelines to the State Bar Councils to initiate disciplinary proceedings for misconduct against the Advocate's advertising, soliciting works directly or indirectly, whether by circulars, advertisements, touts, personal communication, interviews not warranted by personal relations, furnishing or inspiring newspaper comments or producing his photographs to be published in connection with the case where he is engaged or concerned.
