<ul class="summary-list"><li>The <keyword id="11896052" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="census" source="Orion">Census</keyword> Bureau published new <keyword id="11920876" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="population" source="Orion">population</keyword> estimates for every county in the US.</li><li>New York County, New York, saw the largest percent decline from July 1, 2020 to July 1, 2021 among large <keyword id="13460132" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="counties" source="Orion">counties</keyword>.</li></ul>Counties grew and shrunk across the US last year, based on new population estimates.The number of residents changed in various counties as some people moved away to other parts of the US, due to the flexibility of remote work and other reasons, or because populations were impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.The Census Bureau published <a href="https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/popest/data/tables.html">population estimates</a> on Thursday for counties, metro areas, and micro areas.According to the Bureau's press release, a large share — more than 73% — of counties saw natural decrease, meaning more deaths than births, in 2021. That's higher than the 55.5% in 2020."In 2021, fewer births, an aging population and increased mortality — intensified by the COVID-19 pandemic — contributed to a rise in natural decrease," the Census Bureau wrote in a <a href="https://www.census.gov/newsroom/press-releases/2022/population-estimates-counties-decrease.html">press release</a>.Insider looked at new population data for the 3,143 counties and county equivalents in the US to see just how populations have changed across the US over a year. The above map shows percent changes in population size from July 1, 2020 to July 1, 2021. You can hover over the map to see what the populations for each county were for these two years and to see how the population size has changed.Four counties in Texas, including Kaufman County, saw the largest percent increases among counties with a population of at least 20,000.Here are the 10 large counties that saw the biggest percent increases over a year:Not all counties saw populations grow between 2020 and 2021. New York County, which encompasses the borough of Manhattan in New York City, has a population of over 1 million and saw a population loss of over 110,000 from July 1, 2020 to July 1, 2021. US population could shrink for first time on record as immigration enforcement and COVID-19 deaths take their toll

<ul><li>The <keyword id="6355833" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="United-Nations" source="Orion">United Nations</keyword> suggest that the global <keyword id="48933" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="population" source="Orion">population</keyword> could grow to around 8.5 billion in 2030, 9.7 billion in 2050 and 10.4 billion in 2100.</li><li>According to the World Population Prospect report, the global population is growing at its slowest rate since 1950.</li><li>It took 12 years to grow from 7 to 8 billion.</li></ul>The world's population is projected to reach 8 billion people on Tuesday, according to the UN estimates, which consider this a milestone in human development. The latest projections by the United Nations suggest that the global population could grow to around 8.5 billion in 2030, 9.7 billion in 2050 and 10.4 billion in 2100. The annual World Population Prospect report, released on Monday to coincide with <keyword id="203146" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="world-population-day" source="Orion">World Population Day</keyword>, also notes that the global population is growing at its slowest rate since 1950, having fallen to less that one per cent in 2020. While it took the global population 12 years to grow from 7 to 8 billion, it will take approximately 15 years--until 2037-- for it to reach 9 billion, a sign that the overall growth rate of the global population is slowing. Disparate growth rates among the world's largest countries will re-order their ranking by size. According to UN estimates, India is projected to surpass China as the world's most populous country during 2023. Population growth is caused in part by declining levels of mortality, as reflected in increased levels of life expectancy at birth. Globally, life expectancy reached 72.8 years in 2019, an increase of almost 9 years since 1990. Further reductions in mortality are projected to result in an average longevity of around 77.2 years globally in 2050. Countries with the highest fertility levels tend to be those with the lowest income per capita. Global population growth has therefore over time become increasingly concentrated among the world's poorest countries, most of which are in sub-Saharan Africa. In these countries, sustained rapid population growth can thwart the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which remain the world's best pathway toward a happy and healthy future. Even though population growth magnifies the environmental impact of economic development, rising per capita incomes are the main driver of unsustainable patterns of production and consumption. The countries with the highest per capita consumption of material resources and emissions of greenhouse gas emissions tend to be those where income per capita is higher, not those where the population is growing rapidly. Meeting the objectives of the Paris Agreement to limit global temperature rise, while achieving the SDGs, critically depends on curbing unsustainable patterns of production and consumption, according to UN. Yet, slower population growth over many decades could help to mitigate the further accumulation of environmental damage in the second half of the current century. World population to hit 8 billion people today

Today is World’s Population Day and everyone around the world is pouring their wisdom and intellect in how we can control population and what are the reasons behind the surge. 
 This <keyword id="203146" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="World-Population-Day">World Population Day</keyword>’s theme is-‘Investing in Teenage Girls’, which is subject of grave concern. 
 
World over, teenage girls face a number of challenges such as early marriage and motherhood. Many teenage girls are forced to drop out of schools and are marginalised. 
 
To bring these challenges to zilch, UNFPA has been running a series of programmes that aim to end child marriage, curb adolescent pregnancy, and to empower girls to make informed choices about their health and lives. 
 
In 2015 alone, UNFPA programmes helped 11.2 million girls between ages 10 and 19 gain access to sexual and reproductive health services and information.

seems to know the real reason behind India’s population-control issues

The world is getting older, developed countries especially. Even in emerging markets like Brazil, the total fertility rate has dropped from <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/deutsche-population-will-peak-in-2055-2013-9">6.2 live births per women to 1.8</a>, below the so-called "replacement rate."
Deutsche Bank global strategist Sanjeev Sanyal recently forecasted that world <keyword id="48933" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="population">population</keyword> <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/deutsche-population-will-peak-in-2055-2013-9">will peak around the year 2055</a> at 8.7 billion before declining to 8 billion by 2100.
Now, thanks to coder <a href="http://multitasked.net/about.html">Martin De Wulf</a> and UN data, we can really visualize these startling changes. De Wulf arranged population figures to make a set of familiar aging visualizations called <a href="http://populationpyramid.net/">population pyramids</a>.
We chose 15 countries and show you the transition from 2000 to 2100 in 10-year intervals.
France's population will double between 1950 and 2100:
