However, analysts at Choice Broking believe that the sharp spike in growth last year may be a one-off event triggered by the pandemic and the company may find it difficult to maintain the same pace in the future. “There is a respectable import market for the company to capture and also a huge export opportunity arising from the “China plus one” strategy, in case the globe adopts this strategy in the post-Covid period. Indian markets open lower amid unrest in China over zero-Covid: Paytm, Adani Transmission, Hero MotoCorp in focus

<ul><li><keyword id="6357120" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="paytm" source="Orion">Paytm</keyword>’s IPO has been oversubscribed on the third day of listing, however the response is still underwhelming compared to some recent IPOs.</li><li>Bids have been placed for 9.14 crore shares versus 4.83 crore shares available for sale, as of 5:00 p.m.</li><li>Media reports suggest that Paytm's GMP has fallen from ₹150 to ₹55 in the last one week.</li><li>Paytm has been seeking a valuation of $19.3-19.9 billion with this public issue.</li></ul>The initial public offering (IPO) of Paytm has been fully subscribed on the third pay of the public issue, after receiving an underwhelming response from the institutional investors in the first two days of the issue. The company’s IPO was subscribed only 68% till 1:00 p.m, on Wednesday, according to the data updated on stock exchange. However, the offering was oversubscribed by 1.33 times or 133% by 1:47 p.m. This massive difference was created solely by qualified institutional buyers (QIBs), who have subscribed to the IPO by two times. Notably, the portion reserved for QIBs was only subscribed by 46% till yesterday, November 9. QIBs include foreign institutional investors, banks, financial institutions, insurance companies, mutual funds and others. This is India’s biggest-ever IPO, surpassing Coal India’s public issue of ₹15,000 crore in October 2010. The retail portion of Paytm’s IPO has been subscribed 1.66 times, according to the stock exchange. The portion reserved for Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) has been subscribed 2.79 times and non-institutional investors have been subscribed 24%. The retail portion of Paytm’s IPO has been oversubscribed since day one, whereas the non-institutional portion is still lagging behind. According to media reports citing market observers, Paytm (One 97 Communications) shares premium has slipped in the grey market and is commanding a grey market premium (GMP) of around ₹55 today, November 10. A Mint <a href="https://www.livemint.com/market/ipo/paytm-ipo-latest-gmp-and-subscription-details-on-final-day-of-issue-11636518360648.html">report</a> noted that Paytm’s GMP has fallen from ₹150 to ₹55 in the last one week. Despite being the biggest and the most sought after startup IPO in India, Paytm has received an underwhelming response from the investors. Paytm’s shares are being offered at a price band of ₹2,080-₹2,150, and the lot size has been set at six shares. This means one lot would cost up to ₹12,900 at the upper price band. Paytm — valued at $16 billion — was founded in 2010 and is one of the largest digital payments companies in India. The company is seeking a valuation between $19.3 billion to $19.9 billion with this public issue. The valuation itself has been a point of contention for several stock brokerages. Paytm IPO scrapes through after two days of underwhelming response

This is 9% lower than the issue price of ₹2,150. And, analysts at Macquarie have warned that the stock may go down a lot more before it becomes attractive. Analysts at Macquarie, a global investment bank, have set the target price for Paytm at ₹1,200, that’s 44% below the price at which IPO investors got their shares. Macquarie cited the high price of the IPO and the intense competition from the likes of Amazon, Google and Flipkart for its pessimism around Paytm. “People ask me how do you raise money at such a high price? I say, I don’t raise money on a price but I raise money on a purpose,” said One97 Communications founder and chief executive (CEO) Vijay Shekhar Sharma in his address before the listing ceremony at the BombayStock Exchange. Paytm's shares were trading at ₹1,673 at 12:22 p.m., a discount of nearly 22%. The closing price for November 18 was ₹1564, which is 27% below the issue price. Paytm is still bigger than Britannia, Bajaj Auto and Zomato The Noida-based Paytm listed at a market cap of ₹1,26,737 crore ($17 billion), which is nearly $3 billion lower than the $19.3 billion-$19.9 billion valuation of the public issue. The fear around the price had set in long before the listing. Paytm’s grey market premium (GMP) — a price at which the share prices are being traded at in the grey market — tumbled down from ₹130 on the first day of bidding on November 8 to a negative ₹30 on Wednesday (November 17). This means that the traders in the grey market are willing to buy the shares at ₹2,130, about ₹20 lower than the issue price. Experts ask investors to wait it out before investing in Paytm's shares Fresh investors should not invest in Paytm at the moment but wait for another 15 days for the stock to consolidate, Kranthi Bathini, Director - Equity strategy at WealthMills securities, told Business Insider. “Serious investors need to wait for a couple of earning quarters and not jump into stocks like what happened in Nykaa,” he added. Nykaa — which had a stellar debut on the stock market last week — crossed the ₹1 lakh crore market cap on the first day of listing.
