And here’s why <keyword id="191843" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Tim-Cook">Tim Cook</keyword>, <keyword id="6354630" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Mark-Zuckerberg">Mark Zuckerberg</keyword> and Sundar Pichai are extremely excited about the game and it has nothing to do with playing the game. <br />

<br /> Apple CEO, Tim Cook had big things to say about <keyword id="6369782" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Augmented-reality">Augmented Reality</keyword> and how they are looking at it for the long run. But Cook’s mention of the game seemed almost forced as if somebody told him that this is big and must be mentioned to promote the already popular iPhones. And he did. But went funnily wrong with the pronunciation of the game. This is exactly what he said “So we're investing, and the number one thing is that our products work well with other developers' products, like <keyword id="3506278" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="pokeman">Pokeman</keyword>, and that's why you see so many iPhones in the wild out there chasing Pokemans.” While Cook might not know much about “Pokeman” the game but knows very well that Apple is making big bucks from the game. Apple pockets 30% cut from any in-app purchase and looking at the success of the game it is making Apple more revenue than any other game out there.<br />

Google CEO Sundar Pichai knew exactly how relevant and big Pokemon Go is and a mention in his earning call was a must. So Pichai joked about how he knows that analysts on the call are playing the game during the call, which goes to show that he clearly has no clue about how the game is played. But he is completely aware of how big a business this game is for Google. Apart from owning part of Niantic Labs that created Pokemon Go, just like Apple, Google also gets a good 30% on any in-app purchases. With the kind of downloads Pokemon Go has seen it has been one of the biggest money churners for Google.<br />

While Facebook might not be making money from Pokemon Go as of now (you never know with Facebook), Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg was probably the only one out of the three CEOs who actually tried the game and enjoyed it “like everyone else”. Popularity of Augmented Reality is popularity of Artificial Intelligence as a whole and Facebook has made huge investments in Virtual Reality especially with the kind of money it has put in on VR headset, Oculus Rift. And all this popularity is only going help Facebook in all it’s long-term strategic bets.<br />

Real reason why Pokemon Go got a mention from CEOs of Apple, Google and Facebook this week

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Three <keyword id="11908908" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="twitch" source="Orion">Twitch</keyword> <keyword id="12259053" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="streamers" source="Orion">streamers</keyword> are feuding after Pokemane said she was "harrassed" by JiDion's fans.</li><li>JiDion apologized and denied accusations of misogyny, saying he was unfairly banned by Twitch.</li></ul><p>Three of the biggest <keyword id="11894122" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="influencers" source="Orion">influencers</keyword> on Twitch, the Amazon-owned live-streaming platform, are involved in a bitter and high-profile feud featuring accusations of harassment and misogyny.</p><p>It involves LA-based YouTuber and Twitch streamer Imane Anys, better known as <a href="https://www.twitch.tv/pokimane">Pokimane</a>; YouTube star Jidon "<a href="https://www.youtube.com/c/JiDion">JiDion</a>" Adams who recently joined Twitch; and Twitch's most-followed streamer with almost 17 million followers, Tyler Blevins, who goes by <a href="https://www.twitch.tv/ninja">Ninja</a> and is known for his video-game content.</p><p>The feud began on January 12, when Anys' livestream was flooded with coded comments from people who said they were fans of Adams'. As a result, Adams said he was banned from Twitch for 14 days, but when his ban was made permanent, Blevins got involved, appearing to refer to streamers like Anys as "bitches."</p><p>Now, Anys is calling out misogyny on the platform, and taking on its biggest creator. </p><p>Here's how the dispute played out.</p><h2><strong>Anys' Twitch stream received an influx of comments, which were labeled a 'hate raid'</strong></h2><p><strong></strong></p><div type="image" title="Imane Anys, known as Pokimane on Twitch, is a popular streamer" height="1530" width="2040" msid="89005651" hostid="261"></div><p>On January 12, Anys and a group of other streamers including the hugely popular Rachel Hofstetter, known on YouTube as Valkyrae, were live-streaming a game of Valorant, a team-based shooter video game<strong>, </strong>when they were flooded with an influx of comments reading "L + RATIO." </p><p>On social media, "ratio" refers to a post in which negative replies are more popular than the original content, suggesting the post was poorly received. "L" is internet shorthand for losing or "loser." The comments were broadly understood to be negative, and the incident was interpreted as a "hate raid," which The Verge <a href="https://www.theverge.com/22633874/how-to-stop-a-hate-raid-twitch-safety-tools">describes</a> as occurring "when a user on Twitch sends their viewers to another streamer," leading to their chat becoming "flooded with hateful messages from bot accounts."</p><p>Seemingly confused, Anys asked during the stream, "Do you guys think that's another streamer? Or just bots?" before ending her stream early.</p><p>A number of viewers then began to say the commenters had come from Adams' channel.</p><h2><strong>After Adams said he'd been suspended from Twitch, Anys called out misogyny on the platform</strong></h2><p>On January 13, just a day after being verified on Twitch, Adams — who changed his Twitter picture to a photograph of Anys — <a href="https://twitter.com/Jidion6/status/1481521009530482689">said he was banned from Twitch for 14 days</a>.</p><p>On January 14, Anys tweeted, "the hate that women receive within gaming has become so normalized, but we need to make it clear to our communities &amp; platforms that it is absolutely not okay. huge thank you to everyone who spoke up today (especially other streamers)."</p><blockquote class="twitter-tweet blockquote" data-lang="en" data-cards="" data-conversation="">—pokimane ⚔️ (@pokimanelol) <a href="https://twitter.com/mims/statuses/1481833656729489408">January 14, 2022</a></blockquote><p>Fellow streaming stars including <a href="https://twitter.com/Valkyrae/status/1481780916632444929?s=20">Hofstetter</a>, <a href="https://twitter.com/DisguisedToast/status/1481692459864182785?s=20">Disguised Toast</a>, who has 2.4 million followers, and <a href="https://twitter.com/Myth_/status/1481705743627677697?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1481705743627677697%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dexerto.com%2Fentertainment%2Ftwitch-streamers-support-pokimane-after-sexist-hate-raid-ruins-her-stream-1740093%2F">Myth</a>, who has over 7 million followers, tweeted in support of Anys.</p><p>Adams denied accusations of misogyny, <a href="https://twitter.com/Jidion6/status/1481792752383926277?s=20">tweeting</a>, "My dislike for her has nothing to do with her gender," and <a href="https://twitter.com/Jidion6/status/1482083507543453703?s=20">asking</a> for "a feminist/expert in this field" to help him "become a better person." </p><h2><strong>Adams apologized and said his Twitch ban was made permanent, which he said was 'unfair'</strong></h2><p>On January 17, Adams posted a <a href="https://twitter.com/Jidion6/status/1482852019572518917?s=20">video on Twitter</a> saying that Twitch had changed his ban to permanent after "other people reacted to my ban, and voiced their opinions on it not being severe enough." </p><blockquote class="twitter-tweet blockquote" data-lang="en" data-cards="" data-conversation="">—Dijon (@Jidion6) <a href="https://twitter.com/mims/statuses/1482852019572518917">January 16, 2022</a></blockquote><p>He acknowledged he broke the platform's terms of service and said he deserved the two-week suspension, but added that he felt the permanent ban was "unfair."</p><p>"How am I supposed to do better next time, if I can never get a next time?" he said. Pokie I apologize and boys I'm dropping it so I'm asking you guys to as well. Will be streaming next week on YouTube and love you guys."</p><p>In a YouTube <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Za1TRCwmLdU">video</a> posted on January 18 titled, "Dear Pokie," Adams again apologized to Anys, saying, "I apologize for the Twitch stuff, I wanna apologize for the Twitter stuff. I was wildin' on Twitter, I was." </p><h2><strong>Twitch's most-followed streamer Ninja appeared to support Adams</strong></h2><div type="image" title="Tyle Bevins, aka Ninja on Twitch" height="3585" width="4780" msid="89005652" hostid="261"></div><p>Following Adams' Twitch ban, the platform's most-followed creator, Tyler Blevins, more popularly known as <a href="https://www.twitch.tv/ninja">Ninja</a>, discussed the situation during his own livestream. The original footage is no longer available to view, but some purported segments were captured and re-uploaded by Anys in <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7lA0prkTwI&amp;ab_channel=PokimaneToo">a YouTube video</a> posted on January 19.</p><p>During the clip, Blevins can be heard responding to comments about the suspension, saying he "had a talk" with Adams following the hate raid. </p><p>Blevins initially said there was nothing he could do about Adams' ban, but then added, "I could send a text message to my representative and be like, 'JiDion says he's sorry.' All right, all right, I'll do it." A few moments later, Blevins said, "I sent the text. I don't promise a goddamn thing. At the end of the day what happened happened."</p><p>Appearing to speak directly to Adams, Blevins then said, "I'm going to do whatever I can."</p><p>In her video, Anys asked, "Why would Ninja help someone evade a ban for harassing me? I have no idea." </p><p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4w-Rd1N8yG0&amp;t=1s">Another clip</a> that appears to be from the same stream also circulated online. Blevins can be heard telling Adams, "In the future, nothing negative. No Ls, don't spam." Another purported message read, "And you are making a big mistake."</p><p>"I'm literally going to throw up," she said after showing the purported messages.</p><blockquote class="twitter-tweet blockquote" data-lang="en" data-cards="" data-conversation="">—imane  (@imane) <a href="https://twitter.com/mims/statuses/1483297760015122435">January 18, 2022</a></blockquote><p>In a subsequent tweet that same day, Anys shared a screenshot of a purported direct message from Blevins' wife, Jessica.</p><p>"You are spewing lies to tens of thousands of people," it read. It also appeared to reiterate that Ninja never reached out to Twitch, and accused Anys of "defamation of character" and "bringing harassment" to the Blevinses.</p><p>Anys went on to <a href="https://twitter.com/pokimanelol/status/1483232433495429120?s=20">tweet</a> that she accepts the possibility that Blevins "pretended" to contact Twitch regarding Adams' ban, but said she "just wanted the clip out there to show what happened." </p><h2><strong>Some of the biggest streamers have shown support for Anys</strong></h2><p>A number of fellow streamers replied to Anys' <a href="https://twitter.com/pokimanelol/status/1483232433495429120?s=20">tweets</a> showing the purported messages, with reactions ranging from shock at the level escalation, to <a href="https://twitter.com/peterparkTV/status/1483237059305168896?s=20">lawyer memes</a> and jokes.</p><blockquote class="twitter-tweet blockquote" data-lang="en" data-cards="" data-conversation="">—pokimane ⚔️ (@pokimanelol) <a href="https://twitter.com/mims/statuses/1483232433495429120">January 18, 2022</a></blockquote><p>YouTuber <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYzPXprvl5Y-Sf0g4vX-m6g">Jacksepticeye</a> wrote, "If only they cared about the original harassment to you as much as this." </p><p>Fellow Twitch star Mizkif, who has 1.8 million followers, <a href="https://twitter.com/REALMizkif/status/1481581354747936769?s=20">tweeted</a> in support of Anys, saying, "Sad how Pokimane still has to deal with misogyny and harassment in 2022." </p><p>On January 18, Anys <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vmKfUnn5p0">appeared in a livestream with Mizkif</a>, where she discussed the situation and said she shared the purported messages because it made her feel "not alone and scared."</p><p>"Being able to talk about it publicly and having you guys talk about it and support me however you can, it alleviates my stress so much," she said.</p><p>On January 19, Anys tweeted in response to people "minimizing the harassment" she said she received with a detailed list of accusations against Adams, including making sexual comments about her and telling the streamers to "go to war" with her.</p><blockquote class="twitter-tweet blockquote" data-lang="en" data-cards="" data-conversation="">—pokimane ⚔️ (@pokimanelol) <a href="https://twitter.com/mims/statuses/1483890279052500992">January 19, 2022</a></blockquote><p>Neither Anys, Blevin, nor Adams responded to Insider's request for comment.</p><p>In a statement to Insider, a spokesperson for Twitch said, "Our Community Guidelines are clear that we do not tolerate hateful or harassing behavior, or conduct that encourages or incites hate or harassment in any way. Cook said he hoped that teaching coding to children would become standard in education throughout the United States." /><p class="source"><span>Andrew Burton/Getty</span></p><p class="caption">Tim Cook, CEO of Apple</p></div><p></p></div></div>Apple CEO Tim Cook loves Pokemon, even if he has a funny way of pronouncing it.</p><p>While taking questions about <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-q3-2016-earnings-2016-7">Apple's quarterly earnings</a> on Tuesday, one analyst asked about <span>Pokémon Go</span> - the mobile gaming phenomenon that some analysts believe could boost Apple's sales by <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/pokemon-go-wont-generate-3-billion-for-apple-2016-7">$3 billion</a> per year. </p><p>Turns out, Cook thinks it's "incredible" what <span>Pokémon Go</span> has done in the past three weeks, although he called it "Pokee-man."</p><p>Many Pokemon players joke that "Pokee-man" is what old people call the game - there's even <a href="https://twitter.com/kifleswing/status/758063341596241922">a Twitter bot</a> that corrects erroneous usage on the internet.</p><p>Cook believes that <span>Pokémon Go</span>'s success is somewhat of a reflection of Apple's success with its App Store platform, and that it suggests a bright future for augmented reality. </p><p>Here's what Cook said (bolded for emphasis): </p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">"In terms of AR and the Pokeman phenomenon, it's incredible what's happened there. I think it's a testament to what happens with innovative apps and the whole ecosystem and the power of a developer being able to press a button and offer their product around the word. This certain developer has elected not to go worldwide yet because of the pressure on their servers. [Laughs.] But I'm sure they will over time. It also does show, as you point out, that AR can be really great. We have been and continue to invest a lot in this, we are high on AR in the long run, we think there are great things for customers and a great commercial opportunity. <strong>So we're investing, and the number one thing is that our products work well with other developers' products, like Pokeman, and that's why you see so many iPhones in the wild out there chasing Pokemans.</strong></p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">I know there are people who want to call [AR] a new computing platform and we'll see, I think there's a tendency in this industry to call everything new 'the next computer platform.' However, that said, I do think AR can be huge. So we'll see whether it's the next platform. But regardless, it will be huge."</p><p>Sadly, the analyst on the conference call didn't think to follow-up and ask Cook how many Pokemon he's caught while playing the game. Apple CEO Tim Cook can't pronounce Pokemon but he still thinks it's incredible

We'd play them constantly in the car, at night, and on family vacations. I was so eager to capture and raise all 150 Pokemon.</p><p>Today Pokemon is a multi-billion dollar franchise that is second <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/the-top-50-video-games-of-all-time--ranked-2014-11#4-pokmon-47">only to Mario</a>, at least in terms of its lucrative success.</p><p>But if you're feeling nostalgic for those old experiences - like choosing your first Pokemon from Professor Oak or discovering a Pikachu in the bushes for the first time - you don't need to dig through keepsake boxes in your parents' basement.</p><p>The Pokemon Company on Thursday announced that it's going to re-release the classic "Pokemon" games for the Nintendo 3DS handheld on February 27, 2016, in versions Red, Blue, and Yellow (a special edition of the game).</p><p>By no coincidence, this is exactly 20 years after those games first launched in Japan.</p><p>Nintendo will sell all three titles as digital downloads in the <a href="http://www.nintendo.com/3ds/eshop">3DS eShop</a>.</p><p>Like the original "Pokeman" games, you'll be able to trade Pokemon with friends. Nintendo's original 'Pokemon' games are returning in a huge way after 20 years

It would not exist without our platform, let's be clear," he <a href="http://www.fastcompany.com/3062596/tim-cooks-apple/eddie-cue-and-craig-federighi-open-up-about-learning-from-apples-failures">told Fast Company</a>. </p><p>While Apple only became an indirect investor in Uber <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/what-the-didi-uber-merger-means-for-apple-2016-8">earlier this month</a>, and the Uber app works fine on Android phones, you can kind of see Cue's point. </p><p>When Apple launched the iPhone in 2007 and the iTunes App Store in 2008, it created a new platform for computing. Google's Android didn't launch until September 2008.  Now, it's hard to imagine a world without sophisticated mobile apps. </p><p>Using that logic, Apple could take credit for Snapchat, Shazam, or even Pokémon Go.</p><p>Wait: Apple CEO Tim Cook kind of did take credit for <span>Pokémon Go</span> <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-ceo-tim-cook-talks-pokemon-and-augmented-reality-2016-7">earlier this month</a>. Pokémon Go is "a testament to what happens with innovative apps and the whole ecosystem and the power of a developer being able to press a button and offer their product around the world," Cook said during Apple's earning call.
