	Rajnish Kumar, ixigo co-founder and CTO said: “It (ixigo) has always believed in simplifying the lives of travellers and one of the pain areas we wished to solve was to make it easier for them to decide whether they should book a wait-listed berth.”
 

	He added: “Over 50,000 PNR status checks and nearly 200,000 train information requests are done on our app every day. Our machine learning algorithms will keep improving the accuracy of the system with every new train PNR tracked inside our apps. We expect to go from the current 90% to 95% accuracy...”
 

	Apart from PNR prediction, ixigo's app already includes features such as budget hotel bookings, cab bookings, packages, station alarms, platform numbers and coach positions of trains.
 In a significant move, <keyword id="71696" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Micromax">Micromax</keyword> has recently made a strategic investment in ixigo which was launched in 2007 by Aloke Bajpai and Rajnish Kumar.

Your railway coach will soon be cleaned with an online complaint. Indian railways is set to launch the '<keyword id="2886425" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Clean-My-Coach">Clean My Coach</keyword>' mobile app for all long-distance trains. 
 
After successful checks, Central Railways has given the green signal for its long routes. 
 
The online complaint will be looked into within just 15 minutes. It can be filed on the website or the app. Passengers have to just enter their PNR numbers. 
 
After a complaint is lodged, an SMS with coach and berth details will be forwarded to a train attendant. Once the complaint is addressed, the attendant will ask for an acknowledgement of the services offered. 
 
The app will help prompt cleaning of toilets and coaches in long-distance trains that have housekeeping staff. 
 "<keyword id="6364162" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="central-railway">Central Railway</keyword> has developed a good mobile app 'Clean My Coach'. All zonal railways should adopt and adapt it," said a senior railway official to media reporters. 
 
While most long-distance trains have housekeeping staff, passengers can’t often reach them.

In a bid to strengthen its position as the fastest growing <keyword id="34984" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="airline">airline</keyword> in India, the country’s largest low-cost airline <keyword id="6354706" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Indigo">IndiGo</keyword> announced the operation of 500 daily <keyword id="6367662" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="flights">flights</keyword> with launch of four new flights connecting <keyword id="66" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Delhi">Delhi</keyword>, <keyword id="6357972" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Jammu">Jammu</keyword>, <keyword id="2094" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Pune">Pune</keyword> and <keyword id="12864" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Chennai">Chennai</keyword>. 
 
The airline will start a second daily non-stop flight between Delhi and Jammu effective from June 10. IndiGo will also introduce a third daily non-stop flight between Pune and Chennai from June 15. 
 The addition of these new proposed services would take the airline's total number of flights to 502 across 36 destinations in India and neighbouring <keyword id="116674" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="overseas-markets">overseas markets</keyword>, IndiGo said in a release. 
 
Aditya Ghosh, president and executive director of IndiGo, said in the release, "With the launch of 500th daily flight on our network, we feel encouraged by our customer's support that has helped us achieve this distinction in a short period of time.” 
 
“These new flights have been added basis encouraging feedback by our passengers, especially from Jammu and Pune. It is our constant endeavour to provide more flexibility and choice for our customers as IndiGo continues to offer them on time, hassle free and always affordable flying experiences,” he added. 
 The airline last month announced the launch of its '<keyword id="2315815" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Family-Fares">Family Fares</keyword>', which offer discounts up to 25% for a family of four or more travelling together in a single <keyword id="345639" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="PNR">PNR</keyword>, for a maximum of nine passengers, subject to availability. The offer is applicable across all domestic flights and destinations.

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Passengers were able to buy tickets for a flight that didn't exist due to a ticketing mixup. </li><li>They were told at the airport that the airline had stopped serving the route, per the Times of India.</li></ul>A number of airline passengers were left stranded at an Indian airport after they were sold tickets for a flight that didn't exist, according to reports.The passengers only found out that their Go First flight between Hyderabad and New Delhi was no longer running after they arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on October 31, the <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/hyderabad/hyderabad-delhi-flyers-get-tickets-to-a-ghost-flight/articleshow/95240325.cms">Times of India</a> (TOI) reported. The airline had stopped operating on the route about a month prior, per TOI.Despite having valid Passenger Name Record (PNR) numbers that should have enabled them to check in for the flight, airport staff refused to let the travelers board. The staff then told them that the flight no longer existed, TOI reported.Go First, an Indian budget carrier, stopped operating the route on October 1. However, passengers were still able to purchase tickets through third-party ticket website Happyfares up until at least October 27, per TOI. The affected passengers purchased the tickets through a third-party ticket site Happyfares, the outlet reported. Happyfares had been sold the tickets by a sub-agent for the airline called Goflysmart. A representative from Goflysmart told the TOI that the airline sent an email on October 26 informing that the flight had changed. However, this was not updated on Happyfares, per industry publication <a href="https://simpleflying.com/go-first-passengers-booked-on-non-existent-flight/">Simple Flying</a>. Go First also continued to list the PNR on its website, per TOI.After finding out about their flight, some passengers had to pay double for a spot ticket, per the Times of India. Others have called for the country's aviation authority to take action against the airline. Passenger Ram Kumar Thota told the TOI that the airline should pay a heavy penalty "for putting us through such physical and mental agony." Thota said they were still awaiting a response from the airline.Neither Go First, Happyfares nor Goflysmart immediately responded to Insider's request for further comment, which came outside of standard business hours.

Mumbai, Mar 26 () Budget carrier GoAir on Thursday said its all services, including international flights, will remain suspended till April 14 due to the 21-day lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic. The nationwide lockdown is to remain into effect till April 14. The central government has suspended all domestic and international flight operations in India to curb the spread of coronavirus. "GoAir is fully supportive of the initiatives announced by our Prime Minister (Narendra Modi). The airline fully respects the decisive steps being taken by our PM followed by various state and local governments to arrest the spread of COVID-19. "Although these steps will stop air travel until April 14 and impact the very purpose of GoAir's existence, they are essential for the health of our customers, our employees and our nation. Thus, GoAir has temporarily suspended all its flights until April 14," the airline said in a release. The destinations to and from where the flights have been suspended till April 14 are Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Bagdogra, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Jammu, Kochi, Kolkata, Kannur, Leh, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Port Blair, Pune, Ranchi, Srinagar and Varanasi, as well as international destinations namely Phuket, Male, Muscat, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Bangkok, Kuwait, and Dammam. As soon as the situation improves and the government revokes the lockdown, GoAir will start operating its network to the fullest extent, it added. It also said GoAir will protect all the PNRs (passenger reservation numbers) for customers who booked themselves to travel between March 26 and April 14 as part of the 'Protect Your PNR' scheme, wherein customers can reschedule their flights up to April 15, 2021, using the same PNR. Customers can redeem their tickets (booked between March 1, 2020, and April 15, 2020) on any GoAir flight on any date between April 15, 2020, and April 15, 2021, with no charges being levied (fare difference may be applicable), it said. Mumbai, Apr 14 () With the central government extending the lockdown to May 3 and subsequently the suspension of all commercial passenger services also till then, domestic airlines have again decided not to refund the customers in cash for their cancelled flights and instead offer them rescheduling of tickets for a later date without any additional fee.India had imposed a 21-day lockdown from March 25 to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. Consequently, all domestic and international commercial passenger flights were suspended for this time period.However, most of the airlines had been taking bookings except national carrier Air India for domestic flights for the period beyond April 14.After Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the extension of lockdown till May 3, the aviation regulator DGCA issued a circular stating all international as well as domestic flights will remain suspended during the lockdown."Following orders from the Ministry of Civil Aviation issued to all airlines, we have extended the suspension of our operations until May 3, 2020."We are in the process of cancelling the affected bookings and we will offer customers free of charge rescheduling to another date until December 31, 2020," a Vistara spokesperson told in statement.The customer, however, will have to pay the fare difference, if any, at the time of rebooking, the airline said.A GoAir spokesperson said that it has already "factored in" these type of scenario and that the airline will review its earlier scheme of providing rescheduling free of cost at a later date while protecting their existing bookings for one year.The airline had on Monday announced that it was extending the "Protect Your PNR" scheme till April 30, 2020.Aviation consultancy Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation had last week termed the sale of tickets without a clarity on lockdown as "unfair to consumers"."The decision to allow opening of advance bookings from April 14 without a decision on lifting of the lockdown and likely structure of the transition period post the lockdown needs to be immediately reviewed as this is unfair to consumers," Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA) said in a statement.Citing examples of erstwhile Kingfisher Airlines and now-defunct Jet Airways, CAPA said that the closure of these two carriers has "already resulted in massive losses to passengers as refunds couldn't be processed resulting in crores of losses to passengers".It may be mentioned here that the then customers of the erstwhile Kingfisher Airlines and Jet Airways could not recover their money which the two airlines had amassed on account of advance bookings only after their going belly up.CAPA in its March 18 report had stated that amid COVID-19 and in the absence of government support "several Indian airlines may shut down operations by May or June due to a lack of cash."Announcing that all its flights are cancelled till May 3, IndiGo said, it is in the process of cancelling the reservations."Your ticket amount is protected in the form of credit shell in the PNR, which can be utilised within one year of the issued date." Gurugram-based spiceJet also said the amount from the cancelled ticket will be maintained in a credit shell."We are cancelling the reservation of those who booked tickets for travel till May 3, 2020. Upon cancellation your entire amount will be maintained in credit shell and the same may be used for fresh bookings and travel till February 28, 2021, for the same passenger," it said. IAS MR

By Shah Imran Ahmed Mumbai, Mar 24 () Budget carrier IndiGo has assured its employees that it will not make any deduction in their salaries and leaves due to the suspension of domestic flights till March 31 in the wake of coronavirus lockdown.The assurance came a day after the Narendra Modi government issued an advisory to both private and public companies to not lay off employees or cut their salaries, in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.The government's decision to suspend domestic flight till March 31 would come into effect from midnight Tuesday, as part of larger efforts to curb spreading of coronavirus infections.In an e-mail to his employees, IndiGo Chief executive Officer Ronojoy Dutta said the company has "reasonable" level of advanced bookings for April and it was "anxious'' to fly again albeit with a reduced capacity."For those who don't have to be working during this temporary suspension of operations, we will make no deduction of salaries or leaves," Dutta said in the e-mail. has accessed the e-mail.He said that the airline plans to commence the domestic operations from April 1, subject to no further extension of the government order.It may be mentioned here that global aviation consultancy CAPA on Monday said domestic air services are likely to remain suspended beyond March 31 in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Later in a statement, he also said that the airline would not be charging any fee for cancelling tickets that are up to April 30, and it would store the ticket price as credit on that PNR, which can be used for alternative booking up to September 30. According to Dutta, IndiGo has reasonable level of forward bookings for April "so we are anxious to start flying again, although it will be a reduced capacity."Stating that the last few days have been very challenging for the airline, he said "clearly for the next few weeks, our revenues will be well below our costs and we will have to make our efforts to penny-pinch and preserve cash".He also said that as employees "let us also be acutely cognizant of the fact that during this temporary suspension of operations, we will be spending our cash reserves to continue to pay salaries and benefits."Once this crisis is over, the airline will have to redouble its efforts to rebuild these cash reserves, Dutta added.The coronavirus has dealt the airline a 'hands of cards' it neither ask for or anticipate, he said."Now it is all up to us employees to play our cards not just well but superbly to restore the full confidence of our customers and share holders trust in us," the airline chief said. Moreover, Dutta, in the statement also stated that those passengers who are booked to travel till September 30, can change their itinerary at zero change fee, for travel up till September 30.The fare difference would have to be paid by the passenger during the time of alternative booking, he said.
