A cybercriminal group with the alias ‘John Wick on Thursday said in a tweet that it did not hack <keyword id="4225623" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Paytm-Mall">Paytm Mall</keyword>, even as the group claimed responsibility for briefly hacking the Twitter account linked to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's personal website. <div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="77902203" title="Twitter account of PM Modi's personal website hacked — asks followers for Bitcoin and Ethereum donations" mstype="2" mssubtype="0"></div> "This account is hacked by John Wick (hckindia@tutanota.com), We have not hacked Paytm Mall," John Wick posted after taking over the Twitter account. The authenticity of the claims could not be immediately verified. The development comes after cyber-risk intelligence firm Cyble on August 30 wrote in a blog post that "John Wick" was able to upload a backdoor/Adminer on Paytm Mall application/website. The group gained unrestricted access to the entire databases of Paytm Mall, Cyble said in the blog post. "According to the messages forwarded to us by the source, the perpetrator claimed the hack happened due to an insider at Paytm Mall. The claims, however, are unverified, but possible," Cyble said. Paytm Mall said that the claims are "absolutely false". "We would like to assure that all users, as well as company data, is completely safe and secure. We invest heavily in our data security, as you would expect," a Paytm Mall spokesperson said in a statement. "We have been investigating the claims of a possible hack and data breach, and haven't found any security lapses yet. "We also have a Bug Bounty programme, under which we reward responsible disclosure of any security risks. We extensively work with the security research community and safely resolve security anomalies," the spokesperson said. 'John Wick' hacked PM Modi's Twitter handle to say they didn't hack Paytm Mall

The PM also tweeted about his Chinese social media debut. 
 
Launched in 2009, Weibo means "microblog" in Chinese. Like Twitter, Weibo lets users to post comments, updates, pictures and videos. Western analysts have good words for the microblog, which they feel has given Chinese citizens a platform to engage and interact with other users, often discussing issues and topics outlawed by Beijing's infamous strict censorship.

Huang Xilian, deputy director general of Asian affairs, said Beijing wants India and China to act as a "bridge" for the development of Nepal and Sri Lanka so as to reduce strategic rivalry between the two Asian giants and firm up their strategic influence in the region.

The account, however, was restored later on. The account was restored and posts made by hackers were deleted. "The account @Mib_india has been restored. This is for the information of all the followers," the ministry tweeted. Last month Prime Minister Narendra Modi's <keyword id="6354616" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Twitter" source="Orion">Twitter</keyword> account was compromised for a brief period and a post claiming that India had officially adopted bitcoin as legal tender was tweeted from it. "The Twitter handle of PM @narendramodi was very briefly compromised. The matter was escalated to Twitter and the account has been immediately secured. And right in the evening we got the news that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) has took another step in his Digital India initiative by launching ‘Twitter Samvad’, a service aimed to boost the nation’s e-governance plans by helping government bodies and leaders communicate directly with citizens on a daily basis via tweets and SMSes on their mobile devices.

Through ‘Twitter Samvad’, Government of India will share a set of curated tweets delivered from the government and leaders’ accounts to mobile users across the country as SMS—every day. Updates on government services, policies and activities can be delivered to any user with a mobile device signed up for the service with each of the 16 launch partners. Anyone with a mobile phone, with our without a data plan, can register for the service by giving a missed call to a unique number for each of the partners. 
 
Twitter CEO Dick Costolo, who met Prime Minister Modi to discuss areas of collaboration, said, “Based on Indian technological innovation, Twitter Samvad is dedicated and specially built for the largest democracy of the world. The Lok Sabha election of 2014 was the first-ever Twitter Election in India and we want to continue contributing to the development of digital governance in India. As part of the Prime Minister’s Digital India initiative, this Tweet-powered service enables citizens to be the first to know about the government’s actions by receiving political content in real-time on their mobile devices anywhere in the country.” 
 
The company is demonstrating its commitment to the Indian market by launching Twitter Samvad during the Twitter CEO’s first-ever visit to India. Rishi Jaitly, Twitter’s Market Director for India and Southeast Asia, said, “We are proud to have launched a service here that is for the people and of the people. This can eventually give every political leader and every government organization a mobile microphone to connect with each Indian, whether in Imphal or in Diu or in Leh or in Pudducherry.” 
 
Twitter Samvad is based on the platform provided by ZipDial, an Indian company recently acquired by Twitter, making this the company’s first Indian service launched using indigenous technology.

In his push for innovation through the <keyword id="1929810" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Digital-India">Digital India</keyword> and Make in India initiative, Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> today addressed a gathering of CEOs from <keyword id="6357722" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="silicon-valley">Silicon Valley</keyword>, 
 
"Good evening, everyone," said PM Modi. "If there was ever a gathering under one roof that could take part in shaping the world, it is this. It's a great pleasure to be here in California. It is one of the last places to see the sunset but it is where new ideas see the light of the day," he added. 
 Sundar Pichai of <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword>, Satya Nadella of Microsoft, John Chambers of Cisco and Shantanu Narayan of Adobe flanked the Prime Minister on the stage. The ballroom at Fairmont Hotel was choc-a-bloc with top executives of Silicon valley companies. The event started with a presentation on Digital India. 
 
Talking about the importance of technology, Modi said, "If Facebook was a country, it would be the third most populous. The teacher has turned everyone into a reporter because of Google." 
 
"The status that matters most is not whether you are awake or asleep, but whether you are online or offline. The most fundamental debate between our youth is a choice between Android, iOS and Windows," he said in a lighter vein as the audience applauded and laughed. 
 
"From cleaner energy to better transport, everything is converging around what you do," the PM told the people present there. 
 
Modi then went on to elaborate on how his government has used technology for the better, "Since my government came to power, we have attacked poverty with the power of mobile phones," said the PM. "180 million new bank accounts were opened in a few months, insurance came within the reach of the poorest," he said. 
 
"By using space technology and internet, we have been able to identify 170 applications that will make governance better," he added. 
 
The PM then shared his experience when he met some illiterate tribal women in Gujarat. "They were using cellphones to take photographs. They weren't educated," he said. "I asked them what they would do with these images. They said they would have the images downloaded onto a computer and have them printed out. When I heard the word 'downloaded', I was surprised," Modi said in delight. 
 
He also felt that social media is playing an important part in reducing barriers, "I see technology as a means to empower and a tool that bridges the distance between hope and opportunity,” he said. 
 
"Today, technology is advancing citizen empowerment. Technology is forcing governments to deal with massive amount of data and respond in not 24 hours but 24 minutes," he said. 
 
"Out of this conviction, was born the vision of Digital India. It is an enterpise to transform India in a scale that is unmatched in human history." 
"We will transform governance, making it more transparent and accountable," the PM said. 
 
Stressing on the need to promote digital literacy, Modi said, "We are using technology to empart scale and speed to development. Information, education, skills, healthcare, financial inclusion, opportunities for women, conservation of natural resources and entirely new possibilities have emerged," 
 
But for all this, we must bridge the digital divide and promote digital literacy. We must ensure that technology is accessible and affordable." Modi also said that India already had broadband usage increase by over 60 percent last year. 
 
"We will connect all schools and colleges with broadband. Building I-ways are as important as building highways," said Modi. The PM also said that the government will also use infomation technology to build smart cities. "We want to make our farmers less vulnerable to the whims of weather," he said.

Twitter was quick to respond after <keyword id="2257489" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="PM-Narendra-Modi">PM Narendra Modi</keyword> compared <keyword id="28504" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kerala">Kerala</keyword> with Somalia. 
 
Yes, you read it right. Modi likened Kerala with Somalia while he was addressing an election rally in God’s own country. 
 
Modi said, “The unemployment rate in Kerala is at least three times higher than the national average. Infant mortality rate among the Scheduled Tribe community in Kerala is worse than Somalia. The state can meet only 13 percent of their requirement of agricultural products. 
Even after 70 years of independence, Kerala depends on other states for 70 percent of its power requirements. Similarly, most of the youth in Kerala are forced to leave their home state in search of job. Only through overall development, the state could be brought back to its past glory.” 
 
This not only angered Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who has asked Modi to take back his remarks, but also the entire nation that is standing by Kerala at this hour.
