The first day of IIT-K placements wrapped up grabbing over 450 offers from sectors like analytics, software and consulting among others. During its summer placements, the institute bagged over 500 internship offers, 39 more than last year. On the other hand, IIT Madras received <a href="https://www.google.co.in/amp/s/www.thehindubusinessline.com/news/education/102-job-offers-by-20-companies-on-day-1-of-placement-at-iit-madras/article30130243.ece/amp/">102 offers </a>from top multinationals including Qualcomm. Of these, four students were extended overseas placement opportunity. IIT Kharagpur kicks off placement season with a bang — 5 students bag offers over ₹1 crore

<ul><li>India’s economic slowdown does not seem to affect placements across the country’s premier Indian Institute of Technology (IITs). </li><li>Students across 23 IITs received over 1,200 pre-placement offers ahead of the placement season — which will kick off from December 1. </li><li><keyword id="6361649" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Goldman-Sachs">Goldman Sachs</keyword> alone extended nearly 64 PPOs across 10 IITs including Delhi and Guwahati campuses. </li><li>IIT Delhi scored nearly 164 PPOs within one week — which is more than the offers rolled out last year.</li></ul>There is no slowdown at the country’s premier Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), not if their pre-placement offers are anything to go by. Students across 23 IITs received over 1,200 of such offers ahead of the placement season — which will kick off from December 1. Multinationals such as Goldman Sachs, Adobe, Amazon and Microsoft rolled out the most number of pre-placement offers this season. I-banking major Goldman Sachs alone extended nearly 64 offers across 10 IITs including Delhi and Guwahati. “In 2019, 96 students from these IITs summer interned with us, with approximately 70% receiving pre-placement offers to return,” Vidya Lakshmi, head of Human Capital Management at Goldman Sachs <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/jobs/iits-see-flood-of-early-offers-in-slowdown-season/articleshow/72192914.cms">told</a> ET. IIT Delhi bagged nearly 164 offers within a week — which is more than the offers in the entire placement season last year. The top employers at IIT-D include Yahoo! Y\Japan, Samsung and Qualcomm. On the other hand, IIT’s Madras, Bombay, Roorkee and Guwahati campuses scored 158, 163, 140 and 119 offers respectively. The pre-placement offers almost doubled for IIT Hyderabad students at 37 — up from 19 last year. Two students of the campus bagged overseas offers as well. Industry experts say the spike in pre-placement offers is a result of summer internships. The oldest IIT at Kharagpur bagged over 500 internship offers, 39 more than last year. “Recruiting future employees through internship programmes is a tried and tested technique amongst employers. It provides them with enough time to test the interns’ competencies for the job as well as to see if the candidates are culturally fit for their organisation or not,” online internship platform Internshala said. More than half of the job offers at IIT Kharagpur came from the software and analytics sectors

Startups are unaffected by getting banned and are recruiting top talent at IIT placements this year. Regardless of the fact that many of the startups are being blacklisted by the institutes, many international companies that have just started in India are providing the students great offers and some big recruiters' individual hiring numbers. 
 Many like <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> and <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> are amongst the blacklisted ones, their rival likes <keyword id="18635" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword> and <keyword id="6357120" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="PayTM">Paytm</keyword> are hiring aggressively at several <keyword id="6386086" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Institutes-of-Technology">Indian Institutes of Technology</keyword>, and commanding premium slots in placements along with the likes of logistics startup <keyword id="3932850" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="rivigo-services">Rivigo Services</keyword> and enterprise software developer CodeNation. 
 Amazon is planning to visit 17 <keyword id="49737" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IITs">IITs</keyword> this year and is looking forward to hiring more engineers than last year. It is making its first Jodhpur, Indore and Bhubaneswar IITs. 
 "We firmly believe that as we expand and grow in the country, talented engineers from these institutes will play an instrumental role in driving Amazon's growth in India. We continue to be aggressive in our hiring outlook as we scale up our operations in India,” <keyword id="662878" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Raj-Raghavan">Raj Raghavan</keyword>, HR director for APAC at Amazon, told ET. 
 
Paytm, after being benefited by the government’s demonetisation scheme, is now looking forward to increasing its intake from IITs this year. 
 "Paytm is expanding quickly and we are constantly on the lookout for talent to help us keep the momentum,” <keyword id="214729" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amit-Sinha">Amit Sinha</keyword>, senior VP at Paytm, told ET. 
 
The Noida-based ecommerce and digital payments provider has hired from Guwahati, Roorkee, Madras, Bombay and Varanasi (BHU) IITs this year. Besides these biggies, several smaller startups, too, have joined the rush to attract top talent from the country's premier engineering campuses. 
 
"Startups are far from disappearing from the campus. For us, they hold a good share in the placements this year. Where 55 startups have registered for placements this year, up from 50 last year, and they've already handed out more offers than last year,” NP Padhy, professor-in-charge for training and placement at IIT Roorkee, told ET. 
 
There are many new comers in the placement league and the list includes Smartprix, FlyNava Technologies, Clustr, Hike and Buyhatke. 
 
"There are still many startups coming. While most hire in small numbers, they still find takers, especially among students who have a risk appetite,” a senior person involved in IIT placements, told ET. 
 
The IITs also blacklisted a list of startups over a list of numerous reasons. Despite some startups revoking offers in previous years, several students are still eager to join such firms. 
 "Students are now more aware about the uncertainties associated with startups, and more informed. Many are eager to join them, especially those who want to start something of their own in the future and want to gain the experience,” B Venkatesham, placement-in-charge at <keyword id="922152" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIT-Hyderabad">IIT Hyderabad</keyword>, told ET. 
 
Even in campuses where the number of startup recruiters is less than last year, such firms are among the popular recruiters. IIT Madras has given premium slots to companies such as Amazon, Next Education, CodeNation, Rivigo Services and Paytm in the placement process.

Despite getting blacklisted, startups still rock at IIT placements

If we rewind around four to five years, there was indeed a difference between old and new IITs and many aspirants would always opt for the older, more established ones with glittering salaries. 
 
But gone are those days as new IITs like Hyderabad, Indore, Ropar, Mandi and Gandhinagar are also getting better job offers and the line is diminishing between old and new IITs. 
 
Many companies including Flipkart, eBay, Mahindra &amp; Mahindra are visiting campuses of newer IITs, which are getting even 100 per cent placements. 
 
There is also a rise in average salaries this year. 
 
"At the undergraduate level, most companies don't differentiate between older and newer IITs in terms of salary. So the average salary we get is comparable to that of the older IITs and our numbers are improving year-on-year," B Venkatesham, faculty-in-charge for training and placement cell at IIT Hyderabad, told ET. 
 
"Since last three years, we have been achieving 100 per cent placements. Also since last two years, the gap is narrowing down every year compared to old IITs," Nirmala Menon, assistant professor at IIT Indore, told ET. 
 
Students have become more optimistic and this upward trend will also attract aspirants to new IITs. 
 
Reportedly, the highest package at IIT Hyderabad to date is Rs 35 lakh. 
 
"We will be hiring around 50 graduate engineers from the new IITs compared to 40 from the old IITs. We are offering roles predominantly in R&amp;D, product development &amp; other critical areas," Rajeshwar Tripathi, chief people officer, auto &amp; farm sector, at M&amp;M, told ET.

Old isn’t gold for these companies. They are thronging newer IITs with better job offers, pay packages

<keyword id="10591" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Samsung">Samsung</keyword> is looking forward to hire more than 300 engineers from the country’s most prestigious technology institute-Indian Institutes of Technology (<keyword id="6354859" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="IIT">IIT</keyword>s) and this will lead to making Samsung the top recruiter from IIT campuses this year. 
 
The leader in mobile phone and electronics manufacturing is leading the race in terms of making maximum offers in at least three Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campuses after the first eight days of final placements this year. 
 A <keyword id="107877" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Samsung-India">Samsung India</keyword> spokesperson confirmed that the company plans on hiring over 300 engineers from the <keyword id="49737" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IITs">IITs</keyword> this year for its research and development (R&amp;D) institutes in <keyword id="6354321" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bengaluru">Bengaluru</keyword>, Noida and Delhi. 
 
"IITs offer some of the best engineering talent in India, and these young engineers are well-suited to the innovation mindset at Samsung," the person told ET. 
 
Samsung has made the maximum number of offers at IIT Roorkee, IIT Varanasi and Guwahati, handing out 95 offers in these three campuses. 
 At <keyword id="6364832" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIT-Kharagpur">IIT Kharagpur</keyword>, it is just behind only <keyword id="45383" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Coal-India">Coal India</keyword>. The company is also hiring aggressively from other top IITs such as Delhi, Bombay, Madras, Kanpur and Hyderabad. 
 
"Samsung Bangalore has been the top recruiter at our institute this year with 25 offers," Kaustubha Mohanty, head, centre for career development, IIT Guwahati, told ET. 
 At IIT Roorkee, Samsung made 26 offers, followed by <keyword id="10862" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Wipro">Wipro</keyword> with 23 offers, <keyword id="10387" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Microsoft">Microsoft</keyword> with 17, <keyword id="6355199" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance-Industries">Reliance Industries</keyword> with 16, and <keyword id="1960232" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Citicorp-Services-India">Citicorp Services India</keyword> and EXL with 15 offers each. 
 
Another top recruiter this year is outsourcing and analytics service provider EXL, which has alreaddy visited eight IITs, which includes Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Roorkee, Madras, Guwahati, and BHU this year, and made 127 offers, up from 111last year. 
 "Driven by its growth-induced demand, EXL has been consistently increasing its offers at the campuses primarily due to the quality, aptitude and trainability of the candidates. EXL hires primarily for its consultant role from all the above campuses. Placements at IITs started on December 1 and are still ongoing. The first phase of the process will end later this month, only to pick up again in January," <keyword id="1567562" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vivek-Jetley">Vivek Jetley</keyword>, senior vice-president, <keyword id="3937269" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="exl-analytics">EXL Analytics</keyword>, told ET. 
 Power management company Eaton also recruited in good numbers. It made 11 offers at <keyword id="922152" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIT-Hyderabad">IIT Hyderabad</keyword> to emerge the single largest recruiter there while at IIT BHU it made 10 offers.

IIT placements: Samsung India plans to hire over 300 engineers, to emerge as top recruiter this year

As the first phase of placements at IITs comes to a close, trends highlight a lot about how India's premier institutes fared in this recruitment season. 
 
While several big ticket companies stayed off campuses and international offers took a hit this time, the younger IITs had the last laugh as they fared much better than the older ones in terms of salaries and international offers to students. A lot of other interesting points came out. 
 
Here's all you need to know about the IIT placements that just concluded: 
 
Number of job offers dwindled 
These are mostly the older IITs like Kharagpur and Kanpur which have registered a significant slump in recruitments. At IIT-Kharagpur, the number of offers came down to 1,080 from 1,300 in 2016 while IIT-Kanpur saw the number fall to 725 from 800. IIT Roorkee made an exception - the number of recruiters visiting the campus was up to 243 from last year's 180 while the total number of offers were almost the same as last year, at about 680. The reason for this is being seen as: 
 
Offers per company saw a decline At IIT-Mumbai, Madras and Guwahati, the number of total offers went up, but offers per company were fewer than previous years. Large recruiters like Coal India, <keyword id="10387" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Microsoft">Microsoft</keyword> and <keyword id="6361649" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Goldman-Sachs">Goldman Sachs</keyword> were particularly conservative in handing out letters. At <keyword id="57604" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="iit-delhi">IIT Delhi</keyword>, average number of offers from each recruiter was down by about 15 per cent compared to last year. 
 
Many companies like Boston Consultancy Group, Goldman Sachs and Microsoft, which had hired in huge numbers from the campus last year, radically cut the number of recruits. Several opted for pre-placement offers instead of coming to the campus and holding interviews. Those students who had already joined them as interns were given full-time placement offers. 
 
Top recruiters stayed off IIT campuses At IIT Roorkee, officials blamed the absence of bigtime recruiter <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword> for the total number of offers going down to 700 from 2015's 740. Google chose to hire off-campus. <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>, after its strained relations with IITs for deferring campus offers in the previous placements, was nowhere to be seen this time around. <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> stayed off-campus too. 
 
Top offers not too high Not many croreplus packages were handed out this time. The number fell by more than 50 per cent since 2014. Plunging international offers from US firms and the likes of <keyword id="6354576" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Facebook">Facebook</keyword> and Google going off-campus is being seen as the reason behind this. Moreover, Cost to company among the international offers made by companies like Oracle barely crossed Rs 1.2 crore this year (inclusive of bonuses and stock options) compared to Rs 2 crore-plus in 2014. 
 
Newer IITs had the last laugh Newer IITs saw an increase in top as well as average salaries. <keyword id="666989" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIT-Indore">IIT Indore</keyword>, Ropar and Mandi received their first international offers this year, with salaries touching as high as Rs 40 lakh a year. At IIT Hyderabad, there were 16 offers for international positions. At <keyword id="642435" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIT-Mandi">IIT Mandi</keyword>, four students got international offers from a Japanese company. An IIT student Patna bagged an international offer of Rs 35 lakh. The highest salary at IIT Indore increased from Rs 28 lakh last year to more than Rs 30 lakh, at Hyderabad it increased by Rs 4 lakh to Rs 38 lakh. Also, one of the big recruiters at IITs, Amazon, was seen visiting 17 IITs including the young ones in Indore, Jodhpur and Bhubaneswar this year. 
 
PSUs made a stunning comeback 
Public sector units returned to the IITs post the ban on PSU hiring from campuses was lifted. Companies like Coal India, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, and Bharat Petroleum visited colleges early in the placement season. For the first time, IIT Delhi, Madras and Roorkee gave day 1 slots to PSUs and the companies obliged by offering double digit salaries to students in the first two weeks of placements.

A report has pointed out some shocking results about the state of business education in india, which takes pride in having a huge number of business schools spread across the country. The report says that excluding a handful of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Top-11-MBA-colleges-in-India/articleshow/51356925.cms">top business schools</a> like the IIMs, most Indian B-schools are producing below-quality graduates who are not employable, which makes them earn less than Rs 10,000 a month, just in case they are able to find a job. 
 
As for the reasons behind this, the report counts the lack of quality control and infrastructure, low-paying jobs through campus placement and poor faculty in B-schools. 
 
Talking in numbers, India has at least 5,500 B-schools operational right now, and this is when we don’t include unapproved institutes, says the Assocham report. 
 "Only 7 per cent of MBA graduates from <keyword id="612463" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="indian-business-schools">Indian business schools</keyword>, excluding those from the top 20 schools, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/B-school-students-are-believing-in-Indias-growth-story-andtaking-up-less-offers-overseas/articleshow/51454136.cms">get a job </a>straight after completing their course," it found. 
 
"Around 220 B-schools have shut down in the last two years in Delhi-NCR (National Capital Region), Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Dehradun etc. and at least 120 more are expected to wind up in 2016," it added. "Low education quality coupled with the economic slowdown, from 2014 to 2016, campus recruitments have gone down by a whopping 45 per cent," the study revealed. 
 
Despite this, we are seeing a surge in the number of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/HUL-tops-Indian-B-schools-placements/articleshow/51714351.cms">B-school </a>seats, which has tripled in the last five years. 
 
After spending, on an average, nearly Rs 3-5 lakh on a two-year <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Top-9-international-colleges-where-Indians-are-pursuing-MBA/articleshow/51581562.cms">MBA programme</a>, each student currently draws a meager monthly salary of Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000. 
 
"Even the quality of IIM/IIT students coming out now compared to last 15 years has come down due to the quality of school education. The faculty is also another problem as few people enter the teaching profession due to low salaries and the entire eco-system needs to be revamped," said the report. 
 
Talking of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Startups-plan-over-3-fold-jump-in-recruitments-eye-top-engineering-business-schools/articleshow/49241642.cms">engineers</a>, the fastest growing career choice amongst Indians in recent years, the report observed that out of 15 lakh engineering graduates that India produces in a year, 20 to 30% do not find jobs at par with their technical qualification.

More than 90% students from Indian B-schools earn less than an average peon, study reveals

KOLKATA/MUMBAI: Where is the country’s top engineering talent heading to in a year of subdued hiring? <keyword id="10591" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Samsung">Samsung</keyword>, <keyword id="6355199" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Reliance-Industries">Reliance Industries</keyword> (RIL), <keyword id="43340" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Oracle">Oracle</keyword> and <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> topped the hiring charts for the class of 2014, according to data from the top <keyword id="49737" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="IITs">IITs</keyword> at the end of the first phase of this placement season. 
 With 271 offers, almost a 100 more than the second-largest <keyword id="41007" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="recruiter">recruiter</keyword>, Samsung is the clear winner so far. This number includes 69 pre-placement offers (PPOs) and 28 postings in <keyword id="43918" type="COUNTRY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Korea">Korea</keyword>. 
 
The South Korean conglomerate has ramped up hiring numbers by as much as 71% from 158 last year, emerging as the biggest recruiter at the IITs so far. It had made 23 international offers last year. 
 
“We focused on campus hiring for multiple reasons — strengthening our core competency in embedded computing and building new skills/capabilities in UX design, enterprise software and data analysis,” said a Samsung spokesperson in a written response to ET. Out of 243 candidates selected for India, 211 are <keyword id="821920" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="40" keywordseo="from-software">from software</keyword> engineering and 19 from UX design. 
 RIL, another regular recruiter, made 177 offers, lower than last year’s 202. Students have been taken on in the roles of graduate <keyword id="6369183" type="POSITION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Engineer">engineer</keyword> trainees (GETs). 
 
“Other than some 45 PPOs, RIL has hired 132 students from 8 IITs – Delhi, Bombay, Roorkee, Kharagpur, Guwahati, Madras, Kanpur and IITBHU. In addition to this, Reliance Jio hired 5 GETs, one from IIT-Hyderabad and 4 from IIT-Indore,” said a Reliance Industries spokesperson in a written response. 
 
These numbers reflect hiring at the end of the first phase of the placement season in which roughly 50-60% of the batches have been placed across IITs. The second phase will start in the first week of January and will cover the remaining students. 
 
Tech major Oracle was another big recruiter, taking on close to 135 students across almost all IITs. While its overall campus hiring numbers remained fairly consistent over the last three years, it made a few US-based offers for the first time this year. 
 
“Oracle has a number of different business groups internally and we hire students across a variety of positions. 
 Many students will join Oracle, working in product development roles across our hardware, software or industry-specific based groups,” said a <keyword id="154054" type="POSITION" weightage="40" keywordseo="company-spokesperson">company spokesperson</keyword>. 
 E-commerce major Flipkart, as reported earlier by ET, has been a big draw at the IITs during the first phase of placements. The company increased hiring from around 100 last year to 118. “Campus hiring is strategic for us. It helps us identify and bring new talent,” <keyword id="225032" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Sachin-Bansal">Sachin Bansal</keyword>, co-founder, Flipkart, told ET. 
 
“Past experience has shown us that talent from tier-I colleges like the IITs and IIMs and the way they meet the challenges posed by a high-growth environment like ours has been remarkable -- and a great fit for an organisation like Flipkart that stresses on ownership and innovation,” added Bansal. 
 
Several other companies emerged as strong recruiters, according to hiring data from six of the older IITs at Bombay, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee, Kanpur and Guwahati. 
 Business process outsourcing company <keyword id="369930" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="EXL-Service">EXL Service</keyword>, for instance, made 97 offers across 7 IITs this year compared to just 46 across 5 IITs last placements. The increase in the number of campus hires in the roles of consultants and analysts is to power the company’s analytics business, which has been growing at more than 30% for the last few years.

Samsung, RIL, Oracle and Flipkart top employers of IIT graduates this year

MUMBAI: <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword> has set the placement season at top non-IIT engineering colleges off to a rocking start, offering $2,35,000 (Rs 1.44 crore) to BITS-Pilani students who make the cut for international vacancies, according to campus sources involved in the process. <keyword id="10387" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Microsoft">Microsoft</keyword> is offering Rs 79.51 lakh for jobs at its Redmond headquarters. 
 Last year, Google and Microsoft had offered top salaries of Rs 68.34 lakh and Rs 60 lakh, respectively. Reflecting upbeat business sentiment, aggressive recruiters including <keyword id="18635" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword>, eBay, Flipkart, Schlumberger and lesser-known startups such as CodeNation have hiked pay packets by up to 25 per cent compared with the previous year, mostly for domestic jobs. 
 
They are also stepping up hiring in a big way. “There has been more than 40 per cent growth in the number of recruiters this year and the Goa campus has seen a 100 per cent increase,” said G Balasubramanian, chief placement officer at BITS-Pilani University. 
 
The college has 4 campuses across Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad and Dubai. “Salary packages have gone up by an average of 20 per cent at several companies,” said Samuel Rajkumar, deputy director (placements), VIT University. 
 
Placements at the non-IIT campuses are a precursor to campus hiring at IITs, which kick off in December. Early indications at these institutes suggest that happy days are here again for the job market. 
 Epic Systems with a $1,08,300 (Rs 66.4 lakh) offer and Schlumberger with $1,05,000 (Rs 64.4 lakh) are the other top paymasters soon to arrive on campus during the placement season. According to campus sources, <keyword id="6361649" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Goldman-Sachs">Goldman Sachs</keyword> paid Rs 13 lakh this year for roles in the technological division compared with Rs 11 lakh last year. 
 
 
 
 
For strategy roles, Goldman Sachs has paid up to Rs 35 lakh this year at certain campuses. Amazon has offered Rs 25 lakh to three students of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT), Allahabad, and NIT-Calicut. 
 At NIT-Warangal and NITK-Surathkal, the offers were for Rs 18 lakh. This is for domestic jobs. Rival Flipkart is offering Rs 15 lakh plus benefits across campuses and its subsidiary <keyword id="319719" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Myntra">Myntra</keyword> is picking up students for a similar amount but through a separate process. 
 AT NITK-Surathkal, Flipkart has been given the ‘dream company’ status along with <keyword id="28120" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Linkedin">LinkedIn</keyword>, Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs. All students can sit for interviews at these firms even if they have other offers. 
 
Even lesser-known startups are waging a fierce war for engineering talent. Code-Nation — which develops high-quality enterprise software — is offering Rs 24 lakh across campuses, substantially more than Flipkart. It has hired from NIT-Warangal, VIT-University and will visit NITK-Surathkal in the next few days. It is looking to hire 35-40 students overall, the company has said on its official website. As always, Esops are also in play. 
 
LinkedIn is offering stock options worth $40,000 and a Rs 1.3 lakh bonus over and above a Rs 13 lakh salary. “Our placements started around 10 days ago. Around 50-60 offers have been made by 15-odd companies so far, not including PPOs,” Sumit Mishra, placement coordinator, MNNIT-Allahabad. The college has 800 students. Placements will go on for a few more months.
