The Firefly fleet is a constellation of satellites that Pixxel is aiming to deploy in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) to monitor the planet around the clock. The data it collects will help organisations globally to detect, monitor and predict global phenomena in real-time. “The data from Pixxel’s satellite will be used to solve some of humanity’s most pressing problems today such as flagging pest infestations and crop diseases in time, detecting forest fires early, talking air and water pollution levels, detecting oil spills and gas leaks and mapping large scale geological changes among other things,” said Awais in a statement. The Bengaluru-based satellite imaging startup had joined hands with NewsSpace India Limited (<keyword id="7835598" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="nsil">NSIL</keyword>) — the commercial arm of ISRO — after the Modi administration announced new space reforms in 2020. Indian space startup Pixxel won’t be launching its satellite on February 28

Sriharikota (Andhra Pradesh), The first quarter of 2021 will see Indian space agency's till ringing with the commercial launch of Brazilian satellite Amazonia as well as three Indian satellites, said a top official. "End of February or early March 2021, we will be sending our rocket Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle-C51 (PSLV-C51). The primary payload will be the Brazilian satellite called Amazonia an earth observation satellite," K. Sivan, Chairman, Indian Space Research Organisation (<keyword id="6358064" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="isro">ISRO</keyword>), told IANS. "The PSLV-C51 mission will be a very special mission not only for ISRO but also for India as the rocket will be carrying the earth observation satellite Anand made by an Indian startup called Pixxel (Incorporated as Syzygy Space Technologies Pvt Ltd)," Sivan said. "Within eight months of setting up of Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) after the government announced the opening up of the space sector for private players, ISRO will be launching the first satellite of an Indian startup," Sivan added. He said the Pixxel satellite will be an advanced earth observation satellite. The Bengaluru-based private satellite company Syzygy Space Technologies Pvt Ltd, commonly known as Pixxel, plans to have its constellation of 30 small earth observation satellites up in the sky by the end of 2022. Queried whether ISRO will be offering a bulk rate for Pixxel to launch its satellites, Sivan answered in affirmation. "Pixxel's first satellite is for demonstrating the technology. The company also said they would like to launch their satellites with our rocket," Sivan said. "Our second satellite will be flown by US company SpaceX next year. We have looked at various options, including Russian rocket. We would prefer ISRO as logistically it is convenient for us," Awais Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer, Syzygy Space Technologies, had told IANS. According to Ahmed, the company will also look at ISRO's Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) for future launches as it would work out cheaper. Normally, a rocket company charges a carriage fee between Rs 20,000 and Rs 25,000 per kg. The SSLV may work out cheaper, he had said. Sivan also said the PSLV-C51 rocket will carry a communication satellite built by the students part of city-based Space Kidz India and another satellite built by consortium of three Indian universities. ​​ISRO to kick off 2021 by launching its first Indian start-up passenger into space aboard the PSLV-C51

With more startups getting on board, private sector participation in India's space sector will get further momentum this weekend with the launch of ISRO's PSLV-C54. In addition to ISRO's Earth Observation Satellite - 06 (Oceansat-3), the rocket will carry eight nano-satellites. These nanosatellites include Bengaluru-headquartered space tech startup <keyword id="8279723" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="pixxel" source="Orion">Pixxel</keyword>'s third hyperspectral satellite 'Anand' "More than two years in the making and made with a lot of dedication and effort, the team can't wait for the satellite to finally go to space and beam down some amazing #hyperspectral data", Pixxel said. This is to provide continuity services for Oceansat-2 spacecraft with enhanced payload specifications as well as application areas. The payloads are: Ocean Colour Monitor (OCM-3), Sea Surface Temperature Monitor and Ku-Band Scatterometer (SCAT-3) and 'ARGOS' Mission Objectives are: To ensure the data continuity of ocean colour and wind vector data to sustain the operational applications; to improve the applications, some additional datasets such as sea surface temperature and more number of bands in the Optical region for fluorescence and in Infrared region for atmospheric corrections are accommodated, and to develop/improve related algorithms and data products to serve in well- established application areas and to enhance the mission utility. INS-2B (BhutanSat) will have two payloads -- NanoMx and APRS-Digipeater. NanoMx is a multispectral optical imaging payload developed by Space Applications Centre. APRS-Digipeater payload is jointly developed by the Department of Information Technology and Telecom, Bhutan and the U R Rao Satellite Centre, Bengaluru. 'Anand' satellite is a technology demonstrator to demonstrate the capabilities and commercial applications of a miniaturised earth-observation camera for earth observation using a microsatellite in Low Earth Orbit. The Thybolt spacecraft includes a communication payload to enable rapid technology demonstration and constellation development for multiple users. It also demonstrates Store-and-Forward functionality for authorised users in the amateur frequency band. "The satellites shall be deployed by using Dhruva Space Orbital Deployer to perform the specific mission operations for a minimum lifetime of one year," according to the national space agency. Private sector participation in space sector gaining momentum as more players get onboard

New Delhi, Feb 12 () Space start-ups Pixxel and SatSure on Wednesday said they have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to work on technology to improve crop and water management for agriculture in India. Under the pact, SatSure will use Pixxel satellite imagery for building data products by combining it with agricultural data sets to help in improving the existing crop and water management analytics, according to a joint statement. Apart from the primary payload -- an Earth Observation Satellite (Oceansat) and five other co-passenger satellites -- the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle C54 successfully placed Thybolt-1 and 2 satellites, 'Anand' nano-satellites developed by space startups Hyderabad-based <keyword id="2623423" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="dhruva-space" source="Orion">Dhruva Space</keyword> and Bangalore-based Pixxel, respectively. IN-SPACe is an autonomous body under the Department of Space. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) in a letter sent to Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has said <keyword id="1007503" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="foreign-entities">foreign entities</keyword> like <keyword id="18635" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword> and <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> are hell bent on ruthlessly destroying the Indian retail sector with their deep pockets and expansive lobby of legal experts who will stop at nothing before trampling the lives of over 40 crore Indians. CAIT in a communication sent to Goyal said that FDI in e-commerce section of Press Note No.2 of FDI Policy 2016/2018, the stipulations of which foreign entities like Amazon and Flipkart are hell bent on ruthlessly destroying the Indian retail sector with their deep pockets and expansive lobby of legal experts who will stop at nothing before trampling the lives of over 40 crore Indians. "It is nothing less than a daylight robbery where expressive prohibitions of Press Note No.2 are grossly and blatantly are being violated by such foreign entities derived with their ulterior motives to implement their hidden agenda to control and dominate not only the e-commerce business but also the retail trade of India in a very clandestine manner", it said. CAIT said that instead of complying the stipulations of said Press Note both in letter and spirit to respect the law of the land, these foreign entities are deliberately each and every rule of the Press Note No.2 treating India as a banana republic. Under such a grim situation and particularly in the wake of current highly vitiated e-commerce business, a duty is cast upon the Government to protect sanctity of the law, rules and regulations pertaining to FDI in e-commerce and therefore necessity of a new and fresh Press Note replacing Press Note No.2 of the FDI policy is need of the hour. The loopholes of the present policy are being exploited by foreign e-commerce giants like Amazon and Flipkart so that these loopholes are properly plugged and the policy is implemented as per its original intent. CAIT said that such control allows them do predatory pricing, deep discounting, preferential treatment of sellers with capital dumping through their affiliate sellers at its root. All this is done to gain the market share and make illegitimate financial gains at the expense of livelihood of 8.5 crores small merchants, their dependent families and employees. To circumvent the restriction imposed on the <keyword id="2387771" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="marketplace-model">marketplace model</keyword> of e-commerce, a common practice resorted to by these giant foreign e-commerce entities has been to create affiliate companies as sellers, in such a way that they have full control on their business by the way of equity and/or economic participation through their parent/group companies without strictly falling within the definition of 'Group Company' in FDI policy. To plug these loopholes CAIT has demanded to include vital points for issuance of a new Press Note on FDI policy in e-commerce. In order to clearly demarcate the boundary between "market place model" and "inventory based model", any type of direct/indirect, equity or economic relationship, between "e-commerce marketplace entity" and "seller on its platform" should be prohibited. For this purpose, any type of relationship between "marketplace entity" and "Seller", whether direct or indirect, equity or economic or otherwise should be strictly prohibited. Such prohibited relationship between Marketplace and Seller may include, but not limited to, Group companies, Affiliates, Related Parties, Associate Companies, Beneficial owners or any other person(s)who can exercise such control. It also suggested that marketplace based model of e-commerce would mean provision of an information technology digital platform by an e commerce entity to act as a facilitator between buyer and seller only. Inventory based model of e-commerce would mean an e-commerce activity where inventory of goods and services is owned by e-commerce entity and is sold to the consumers directly. E-commerce market place entity and its Group Companies will not, directly or indirectly, own or control the inventory i.e. goods or services purported to be sold on the marketplace. Such an ownership or control over their inventory will render the business into inventory-based model. Marketplace entity &amp; its Group Companies shall not, directly or indirectly sell inventory of goods or services purported to be sold on the marketplace to the Sellers. If any goods or services which are sold by the Group Companies of marketplace and are resold in the e-commerce platform, then such activity shall be treated as inventory based model of e-commerce, CAIT said. The seller having ownership or control on its inventory by the Group Companies of e-commerce marketplace entity, is not permitted to sell its goods or services on the marketplace. Inventory of a seller on the marketplace will be deemed to be controlled by e-commerce marketplace entity if such seller purchases its inventory purported to be sold on the marketplace directly or indirectly from its Group Companies. Further, each marketplace entity and its affiliates, group companies, associates shall provide all details, information, documents, statements and returns as required by the Government or any Regulator, at prescribed intervals or from time to time for verification of compliance with the provisions of these guidelines, CAIT said. 'Amazon and Flipkart are destroying India's retail sector,' says CAIT, asks government to revise FDI policy in e-commerce

The Minister said this while replying during the Question hour. He also said that internet imperialism was unacceptable in the country and the government will not allow monopoly over it. He also clarified there was no threat of impacting elections in the country as the ministry was working in close association with the <keyword id="40807" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Election-Commission">Election Commission</keyword>. New Delhi, May 16 () Domestic telecom gear makers expect the government to clear their dues pending with state-owned telecom firms and come out with provisions to push home grown equipment in the networks, industry body TEMA said in a statement on Saturday.Telecom Equipment Manufacturers Association - which represents indigenous companies like Vihaan Networks, and Tejas Networks, among others - also requested for clarity on the government push for procurement from domestic vendors through public tender of up to Rs 200 crore.TEMA Chairman Emeritus NK Goyal said that it is beyond doubt that the COVID days have shown that the telecom sector has been at forefront for providing connectivity to all citizens in India.The chairman expects that the next package from Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman may come for the telecom, electronics, and ICT sectors."This sector is looking forward for package tomorrow in terms of specific enforcement of indigenously designed development and manufactured equipment, keeping in view of 'Atma Nirbhar Bharat" mission of our Hon'ble PM," Goyal said.The association expects the government to act for clearing about Rs 20,000 vendor dues pending with BSNL and MTNL as well as other telecom public sector firms."Another issue facing the telecom, ICT sector is large amounts of pending payments from BSNL,MTNL and other telecom PSUs and we hope that soon there will be policy guidelines for release of all pending payments," Goyal said.The body suggested that the telecom sector also looks forward for some relief to telecom service providers in terms of adjusted gross revenue, spectrum charges, licence and other fees and incentives to private operators that can be used for procurement of indigenously designed developed and manufactured telecom equipment."Lastly, while we talk of latest technologies of 4G,5G or may be 6G, but let us also appreciate that substantial part of our India specially in hills, NE, LWE, Aspirational Districts, rural areas etc. still remains uncovered and we hope at least 2G for them urgently," Goyal said.TEMA lauded the government decision to increase FDI in defence sector from 49 to 74 per cent and other reforms announced for Make-in-India for the sector, and level playing field for private companies in satellite launches, space-based services and use of ISRO facilities to the private sector.Indian space startup Pixxel said the government announcement to open up the space sector for private industry can go a long way in saving unnecessary costs and making the industry more competitive."This will also mean that a lot of space grade material manufacturing processes, that are not in the country right now such as multilayer thermal insulations, solar panels and batteries that were majorly procured from abroad will now see localisation due to the emergence of more domestic space firms," Pixxel founder and CEO Awais Ahmed said.He said that the announcement on future projects for planetary exploration is very important towards building India's very own Maxars, SpaceXs and Rocket Labs. However, he believes that “stringent measures by the administration” can control the current wave of COVID-19 infections and the sell-off, in the meantime, may pull down shares to bargain prices. The day started on a positive note as the Federal Reserve seemed less worried about inflation in the US. A rise in inflation in the US would force the American central bank to increase interest rates, making it more attractive for global investors to pull money out of emerging markets like India and invest it in the US. This was the overwhelming fear in the run up to the Fed meet and it had come undone at the end of it. As the Fed Chairperson Jerome Powell downplayed the inflation risk in the US, the dollar weakened against all major currencies. A weaker dollar hurts Indian exporters. That would explain the sharp fall in marquee stocks like Infosys and HCL Tech (where the earnings expectations are still strong) as well as drug exporters like Dr Reddy’s Labs. But the confidence among the bulls wasn’t strong enough to overcome the fear of a resurgent pandemic. ITC was the top gainer among large-cap stocks today followed by Bajaj Auto, Hindalco and Bharti Airtel. The sell-off in the mid and small-cap segments was equally brutal as the large-cap indices Sensex and Nifty50. While the market seems to be fearing another crash in economic activity, the most recent data does not seem to indicate that. The Nomura India Business Resumption Index (NIBRI) picked up to 95.7 for the week ending 14 March. That’s a 4.3 percentage point short of the pre-pandemic normal. Essentially, the report dated March 15 showed that Indians are going about their business as usual, not bothered by the latest wave of infections. And that economic activity is nearly as good as it was before the pandemic. But as far as the share market goes, the bears seem to be in charge of the narrative.
