And while "Scott Pilgrim Takes Off" pays clear homage to its roots — the English voice cast of the series features the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/scott-pilgrim-anime-cast-vs-movie-netflix-2023-11">movie cast reprising their roles</a> — things progress a bit differently in the show. But at the end of the episode, the show blows up its entire premise: Scott doesn't win his fight with Ramona's first evil ex, Matthew Patel. Instead, he gets his ass handed to him, and then disappears.Scott's apparent death throws the story into blissful chaos, and it's Ramona who benefits the most. While "Scott Pilgrim" has always been about unpacking Ramona's past, no matter how much she tries to shy away from it, it's always been through the lens of Scott's own journey. In "Scott Pilgrim Takes Off," Ramona's the one fighting for Scott. It also plays out like a spot of extremely good fanfiction, where characters who barely interacted in previous iterations of the "Scott Pilgrim" story end up becoming best friends, or engaging in sordid movie-set affairs. The series shows no fear of going off the rails, engaging in some very meta movie-within-the-show shenanigans, and an eleventh hour twist that brings Scott Pilgrim himself back to the screen.As a longtime "Scott Pilgrim" fan who also happens to like Science Saru's work, I frankly would have eaten up anything that "Scott Pilgrim Takes Off" served, beat-for-beat recreation included. But while "Scott Pilgrim" certainly bears the wit and humor of its predecessors that make it recognizable, it still manages to feel completely novel. Bringing the focus to Ramona allows not only for the show to explore her character in a new way, but for other members of the cast to shine like never before.Ultimately, it's a good lesson — sometimes, not being too precious about remaining faithful to a story can bring about glorious results. In order to bring "Scott Pilgrim" back to life, O'Malley and co-writer BenDavid Grabinski had to kill him — and "Scott Pilgrim Takes Off" was all the better for it.

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Thanksgiving dates back to the Pilgrims in Massachusetts in 1621, right?</li><li>Wrong, some historians say.</li></ul>You probably grew up hearing the story that the first Thanksgiving happened in Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1621.But a group of Spanish settlers in Florida may have beaten the Pilgrims to the punch by nearly 60 years, some historians say.The story of the Pilgrims' feast — the one behind all those elementary school plays and corny cartoon specials — is based on an actual meal that English settlers shared with the Wampanoag people to celebrate an autumnal harvest in the fall of 1621 in their newly established settlement of Plymouth, Massachusetts.Yet in 1565, Spanish settlers in Florida held a first Thanksgiving-style feast with local Native Americans.Pedro Menéndez de Avilés and 800 Spanish settlers landed in Spanish La Florida on September 8, 1565, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.nps.gov/casa/learn/historyculture/the-first-thanksgiving.htm#:~:text=On%20September%208%2C%201565%2C%20Pedro,celebrated%20a%20Mass%20of%20Thanksgiving">the National Park Service says on its website</a>. Some have described the revelation of the preserved remains of Sister Wilhelmina Lancaster as a "miracle in Missouri."Lancaster, the founder of the Benedictine Sisters of Mary, Queen of Apostles, died in 2019, aged 95. Her body was not embalmed and was buried in a wooden coffin in Gower, Missouri, the <a href="https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/254384/a-miracle-in-missouri-body-of-benedictine-sisters-foundress-thought-to-be-incorrupt">Catholic News Agency reported</a>. Last week — four years after Lancaster's death — the Benedictine Sisters decided to unearth Lancaster's body to move her remains under the altar in their convent's chapel as is customary for founders, according to the Catholic News Agency. The sisters were reportedly stunned when they opened the coffin, which even had a crack down the middle. "We were told by cemetery personnel to expect just bones in the conditions, as Sister Wilhelmina was buried without embalming and in a simple wood coffin," one nun, who was not identified, <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/nuns-decided-dig-remains-shocked-burial-1802454" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told Newsweek</a>. Lancaster's body will be displayed in the sisters' chapel in Gower until May 29 and then will be encased in glass. Typically, without preservation techniques like embalming or mummification, the human body slowly begins to decay the moment a person's heart stops beating, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-human-bodies-decay-2016-11">Insider previously reported</a>. In many cases, the body will decompose until all that's left are the bones.

Tehran, Apr 5 () Indian Ambassador to Iran Gaddam Dharmendra on Sunday visited coronavirus-hit Qom where he met the provincial governor and interacted with the stranded Indian pilgrims at a quarantine facility in the city. The Ministry of External Affairs last month said that over 250 Indians have been infected with coronavirus in Iran and an elderly person aged over 70 years died. "During the visit, the ambassador paid a courtesy call on Dr Bahram Sarmast, the Governor of Qom, and expressed gratitude to him for the support and cooperation extended to all Indian pilgrims presently in Qom, including arrangements for COVID-19 infected pilgrims," the embassy said. Dharmendra, who was accompanied by senior officials of the embassy during the day-long visit, assured the Governor that all efforts will be made for the early return of the remaining pilgrims to India, the mission said in a brief statement. India is currently under 21-day lockdown till April 14 to curb the spread of coronavirus and consequently, all international and domestic commercial passenger flights have been suspended for this period. India earlier evacuated hundreds of pilgrims from Iran. The Indian diplomat later visited a quarantine facility specially set up for Indian pilgrims in Qom, the holy city in Iran where the first coronavirus case emerged in February. "He closely interacted with the pilgrims and enquired about their well being. The pilgrims thanked the government of India and the Embassy for their continued support towards them," the statement added. According to the Iranian officials, 58,226 people have tested positive for the virus and 3,603 people have died in Iran, the worst affected Middle East country by the pandemic which originated in China late last year.
