Logistics technology platform <keyword id="4178573" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="shiprocket" source="Orion">Shiprocket</keyword> on Wednesday announced it has acquired a majority stake in <keyword id="3244177" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="pickrr" source="Orion">Pickrr</keyword>, an ecommerce software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform for D2C brands and SME e-tailers for around $200 million (nearly Rs 1,560 crore).<br /><br />The cash, stock and earn-out deal will create a single gateway for other enablers and suppliers to service the digital retailer community and strengthen Shiprocket's position as the leading D2C enablement operating system, the company said in a statement.<br /><br />The two platforms process 10 million shipments per month with a substantial customer base of more than 75,000 merchants, including direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands, SME e-tailers, and social commerce sellers.<br /><br />"Shiprocket and Pickrr are uniquely positioned to capture this opportunity by laying the building blocks of this software infrastructure. It has the potential to become a unicorn in the next two years, as per ASK Private Wealth <keyword id="3656834" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="hurun-india" source="Orion">Hurun India</keyword> Future Unicorn Index 2022 report by Hurun.<br /><br />The report defines gazelle as a startup founded after 2000, and has the potential to become a unicorn in two years.<br /><br />A gazelle exhibits high-growth with its revenues growing by at least by 20% yearly for four years or more. Its base revenue must be at least $1 million.<br /><br />The Delhi-based startup faced its biggest challenge in 2020 as the world went into lockdown mode due to Covid-19. Shipments of the company founded in 2017, fell by a whopping 95% in just a few days, according to the Hurun report.<br /><br />However, the startup coped with the losses, and even managed to secure funding during the pandemic.<br /><br />It raised $355 million of funding so far. Combined, the 51 startups in the index have received $10.1 billion of funding,” says the report.<br /><br />The fintech sector has contributed 13 gazelles to the index, followed by SaaS with five, edtech, e-commerce and shared economy with four each.<br /><br />“In just one year, the number of unicorns has increased by 65%, the number of gazelles has increased by 59% to 51. And the number of cheetahs increased by 31% to 71. Probably, the pandemic has accelerated the disruption of traditional businesses and fostered the emergence of start-ups. <ul><li><keyword id="6356755" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIT-Madras" source="Orion">IIT Madras</keyword> clocked in 100% placements, <keyword id="901000" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="iit-jodhpur" source="Orion">IIT Jodhpur</keyword> says that they have successfully placed 97% of BTech, 75% of our MTech and 100% of their MBA students.</li><li>The top recruiters at <keyword id="6354859" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="iit" source="Orion">IIT</keyword> Madras were Amazon, CISCO, Deloitte, ICICI and McKinsey.</li><li>At IIT Jodhpur, companies such as Google, Mahindra &amp; Mahindra, Samsung, L&amp;T, ArcelorMittal, Nippon Steel, and ICICI Bank recruited students across specializations.</li></ul>Tech majors, auto companies, consulting firms and even metal sector companies made a beeline for fresh graduates from IIT Madras and IIT Jodhpur. Their average salaries and best offers swelled too exponentially this year. <br /><br />At IIT Madras, the average salary offered rose 30% to ₹16 lakhs per annum. IIT Jodhpur did not reveal the average salary. It said that the best offer received rose by a whopping 90%, without mentioning the actual salary. <br /><br />Around 16% of the students in Madras got pre-placement offers from companies in which they were working as interns. MTech placements soared by around 158% compared with the preceding year in Jodhpur.<br /><br />While IIT Madras clocked in 100% placements, IIT Jodhpur says that they have successfully placed 97% of BTech, 75% of our MTech and 100% of their MBA students.<br /><br />At IIT Madras, maximum job opportunities were available in the consulting and analytics space. Whereas in Jodhpur, computer science and engineering (CSE) and artificial intelligence (AI) branches saw the maximum placements this year.<br /><br />“The curriculum at IIT Jodhpur and the students' performance are a testament to our grit and gumption during perhaps one of the testing times. The MTech placements have been very promising, with a myriad of industry recruiting from IIT Jodhpur across roles. It is also one of the widely celebrated festivals in India that has turned into the biggest shopping festival. <br /><br />It is also an advertising carnival which brings up an opportunity for brands to reconnect with consumers as the overall market sentiment drastically improves. Brands pour in big monies on television, Out of Home, and digital mediums to reach out to consumers at multiple touchpoints. <br /><br />After a long-dry-spell, brands are making sure that they don’t miss this opportunity to reconnect with consumers and market sentiment has already picked up, as revealed by Axis My India report. Its November net CSI score, calculated by percentage increase minus percentage decrease in sentiment, was recorded at +9, up from +7 last month. The report’s mobility net score reflects a constant improvement over the last four months. 88% of families said that they are going out the same or more on getaways/staycations /malls/restaurants, with travel bans being lifted and double vaccination providing easier movement opportunities. The overall mobility score is at -4, which is an improvement over last month at -5.
