As a next step, they have already taken steps to withdraw all oppositions against each other in the trademark registry which will help them to proceed with the registration of their respective marks. BharatPe and PhonePe amicably settle all trademark disputes over 'Pe' suffix

New Delhi, Retail giant <keyword id="80487" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="walmart" source="Orion">Walmart</keyword> has reportedly paid $1.4 billion to acquire VC form <keyword id="526777" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tiger-global" source="Orion">Tiger Global</keyword>'s remaining shares in the e-commerce major. According to a report in Wall Street Journal, <keyword id="80487" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="walmart" source="Orion">Walmart</keyword> has paid the money to boost <keyword id="6354742" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="flipkart" source="Orion">Flipkart</keyword>'s stake. "Purchase of shares from <keyword id="526777" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tiger-global" source="Orion">Tiger Global</keyword> values the Indian e-commerce company at about $35 billion," the report said late on Sunday. Walmart purchased Tiger Global's remaining holding in <keyword id="6354742" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="flipkart" source="Orion">Flipkart</keyword> to further cement its control of the Indian e-commerce giant. Tiger Global made an overall gain of $3.5 billion on an investment of $1.2 billion, reports mentioned. Flipkart was earlier valued at $37.6 billion in a 2021 funding round. Walmart buys Tiger Global's residual Flipkart stake for $1.4 billion

Decacorn fintech firm <keyword id="6357886" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="phonepe" source="Orion">PhonePe</keyword> has received an additional USD 100 million from <keyword id="6375561" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="general-atlantic" source="Orion">General Atlantic</keyword> during its ongoing fundraise round of USD 1 billion at a pre-money valuation of USD 12 billion, the company said on Wednesday. With this fresh funding, the <keyword id="80487" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="walmart" source="Orion">Walmart</keyword> group firm has raised USD 750 million till date. "PhonePe confirms a USD 100 million additional tranche of investment from General <keyword id="44121" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="atlantic" source="Orion">Atlantic</keyword>, a leading global growth equity firm, and its co-investors as part of our ongoing fundraise. General Atlantic initially invested USD 350 million in PhonePe in January 2023," PhonePe said in a statement. PhonePe gets additional USD 100 million fund from General Atlantic

Walmart International, - which includes the company's operations in markets like India, China, Japan, Africa, Canada, the UK, Mexico, Canada and Chile - had posted an 8.3 per cent decline to USD 27.3 billion. This was "negatively affected by government-mandated restrictions in certain markets," said Walmart in its post earning statement. However, in Q1 Walmart International "retained market growth of 5.1 per cent. This was led by strength in Flipkart and Canada" and <keyword id="436047" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ecommerce">eCommerce</keyword>, which contributed 16 per cent of the total net sales of the division. "In India, for the first quarter, Flipkart and PhonePe continue to experience strong growth," said Walmart President and CEO Doug McMillan in first-quarter earnings result call. At Flipkart monthly active users and consumers are key metrics and were performing well, he said. Last month, Walmart-owned Flipkart had announced to acquire 100 per cent of Cleartrip's shareholding of the online travel technology company. This further enhances its investments to strengthen its digital commerce offerings for customers, he said. "Our recent announcement of our intent to acquire clear trip, a leading online travel company underscores our commitment to transform the customers experience through digital commerce," said McMillan. It had also entered into a commercial partnership with the <keyword id="6367820" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="adani-group">Adani Group</keyword> to strengthen logistics and data centre. "We need to continue to add new capabilities including such areas as logistics and data storage. The recently announced partnership with Adani group would help us to do just that," McMillan said. The Bentonville-based company saw its total revenue rising 2.7 per cent to USD 138.3 billion in the fourth quarter. Walmart's net sales in the US, which is its biggest market, was up 5 per cent to USD 93.2 billion in the reported quarter from USD 88.7 billion in the year-ago period. "This was a strong quarter. Every segment performed well, and we're encouraged by traffic and grocery market share trends. Our optimism is higher than it was at the beginning of the year," said Doug McMillan. ASUS ROG ​​launches Zephyrus M16 2022 edition for Indian gamers

As per the report, admins will be able to send messages in these communities and create a collection of groups related to the community. WhatsApp may soon introduce Communities, offer more control to admins

E-Commerce brands were the biggest spenders before and during the IPL, with VIVO and Amazon Prime at the top of the recall hierarchy given their high media spends on the tournament. This was followed by the Durables &amp; Automobile sectors. Food delivery brands like Swiggy also enjoyed a high recall. The frequency of ordering remained high with close to 80% of respondents having ordered food online at least once during the match time. Dream11 was the highest recalled main sponsor, followed by Byju’s and PhonePe. An increase in the number of fantasy gaming apps was observed during the IPL, however, the majority i.e., three-fourths used it for playing fantasy cricket only. The overall impressions went up by 15% in the 1st week of the IPL which dropped back to similar levels during the last week of the IPL. Almost all the top brands saw an increased association with Personal and Collective benefits. Automobile brands such as Hyundai, Renault and Kia witnessed an increased loyalty conversion. Durable brands such as Voltas, Signify (Philips) and Havells also managed to increase loyalty conversions. The research was commissioned between April 2, 2021 to May 7, 2021, during the first leg of IPL 2021. The study encompasses 4500 online respondents across 10 cities in India, which gives a deeper understanding of how a larger-than-life platform like the IPL helps move mind measures. YouGov’s Cube philosophy (people, time and variables) coupled with Havas’ Meaningful Brands framework resulted in this customized quantitative structured questionnaire for an agile, real-time solution, allowing advertisers to track the impact on brand health parameters such as recall, familiarity and perception. HI-CRICKET 2021 not only enables brands to further bolster their meaningful connections with consumers but also identifies the most meaningful campaigns during IPL this year. E-Commerce dominates IPL 2021, followed by durables and automobiles; reveals Havas Media Group’s study

Bengaluru, July 14 (IANS) A Walmart-led investor group on Tuesday pumped in an additional $1.2 billion into the ecommerce platform Flipkart Group to support its marketplace in the wake of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. With the new investment, Flipkart group is now valued at $24.9 billion. The $1.2 billion will be funded in two tranches over the remainder of the fiscal year. "We're grateful for the strong backing of our shareholders as we continue to build our platform and serve the growing needs of Indian consumers during these challenging times," Flipkart CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy said in a statement. Founded in 2007, the Flipkart Group includes Flipkart, digital payments platform PhonePe, fashion specialty site Myntra and eKart. In 2018, Walmart invested $16 billion for a majority stake in the group. "Since Walmart's initial investment in Flipkart, we have greatly expanded our offer through technology, partnerships and new services. We will continue innovating to bring the next 200 million Indian shoppers online," Krishnamurthy said in a statement. With a registered customer base of over 200 million, Flipkart recently surpassed 1.5 billion visits per month and reported 45 per cent growth in monthly active customers and 30 per cent growth in transactions per customer for FY20. Flipkart offers 150 million products across more than 80 categories, and has pioneered customer-centric services such as cash-on-delivery, no-cost EMI and easy returns. PhonePe recently reported annualised total payments value (TPV) of $180 billion on more than 500 million monthly transactions. <ul><li>The international students who enrol in <keyword id="977497" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="online-classes">online classes</keyword> initially for <keyword id="3235921" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="University-courses">university courses</keyword> in the UK will also be eligible for the post study work-visa. </li><li>“International students present in the UK before 6 April 2021 will still be eligible for the two year Graduate route, if you meet the other requirements of the route, even if you begin your course online before travelling to the UK in person,” the UK government said in an open letter. </li><li>The government added that the foreign students will be able to apply for a Tier IV visa soon. </li><li>The graduate route, granting the <keyword id="1013018" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Post-Study-Work">post study work</keyword> visa for two years, applies to all the international students having UK immigration status, who have completed an undergraduate or higher educational degree from any UK university.</li></ul>While many top universities have turned flexible with student intake, and are lowering the selection criteria to increase the number of falling foreign students, the UK government is making it easier for its foreign students to study and find jobs in the country — amid the COVID crisis. Now, the international students who enrol in online classes initially for university courses in the UK will also be eligible for the post study work-visa. In an <a href="https://study-uk.britishcouncil.org/sites/default/files/letter_to_prospective_international_students.pdf">open lette</a>r to international students, the UK Minister of State for Universities, Michelle Donelan MP together with Education Ministers from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, as well as the Minister for Exports at the Department of International Trade, said that “International students present in the UK before 6 April 2021 will still be eligible for the two year Graduate route, if you meet the other requirements of the route, even if you begin your course online before travelling to the UK in person.” The UK government also addressed the concerns around the study visa. The foreign students will be able to apply for a Tier IV visa soon. “Despite some COVID-19 disruptions to visa processes and exam timetables, you can still get started with the process. For example, you can familiarise yourself with UK visa requirements and talk to your chosen universities about evidence you may need to supply for a visa application,” the letter<a href="https://study-uk.britishcouncil.org/sites/default/files/letter_to_prospective_international_students.pdf"> said</a>. This comes after many students who were earlier considering universities abroad now cancelled their plans due to coronavirus. Many universities have shifted to online classes for even full-time courses for the current semester. However, the students are preferring to defer to next year to enroll in the January 2021 batch because they are still unsure of the online model. “The recent changes to post-study work, which will now be available to international graduates for two years, including those who have undertaken part of their studies online due to COVID-19, is a welcome move. These practical changes and this initiative to directly address international students looking to the UK as a study destination will go a long way to reassuring prospective international students that the UK is still the best destination for their studies,” said Emma Lancaster, CEO of <keyword id="307962" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Study-Group">Study Group</keyword>, which prepares foreign students for university degree programmes. It will also help to ensure the sector remains competitive and help the joint International Education Strategy meet its education export target, Lancaster added. WhatsApp has been testing financial transactions on its app for over a year in India in beta mode but only among a million users, as per regulations. A full roll out of the feature would bring the messaging service’s 400 million users onboard WhatsApp Payments. And, it would go head to head against <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/whatsapp-payments-launching-in-india-against-paytm-google-pay-phone-pe-for-1-trillion-opporunity/articleshow/70376672.cms">Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm.</a> WhatsApp is yet to gain full approval of its payments platform from necessary authorities and additional security concerns will only hamper the process. WhatsApp’s vulnerability The recent spyware attack that reportedly encroached on the privacy of 1,400 users worldwide and 21 Indian users. <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/apps/news/whatsapp-confirms-indian-activists-and-journalists-were-hacked-as-nso-claims-its-contractually-prohibited/articleshow/71831583.cms">Two dozen</a> of them were journalists and activists. The hack was allegedly carried out by a Israeli security firm — <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/apps/news/whatsapp-hacker-pegasus-spyware-attacked-100-others/articleshow/71851228.cms">the NSO Group</a>. Facebook is in the process of <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/apps/news/heres-why-facebook-is-suing-the-nso-group-over-the-whatsapp-hack/articleshow/71814518.cms">suing NSO</a> for using their flagship software, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/apps/news/jeff-bezos-intimate-messages-data-from-drug-cartels-adnan-kashoggi-the-many-things-pegasus-is-suspected-of-hacking-before-whatsapp/articleshow/71849602.cms">Pegasus</a>, to install spyware on user’s phones in order to obtain remote control. Pegasus can reportedly give the malware’s owner full control of a phone — including using the microphone and cameras to conduct surveillance. According to WhatsApp, it alerted the government to spyware breaching Indian user security twice — once in May and then again in September. But the IT Ministry has responded saying that the details shared by the messaging mobile app were in inadequate and incomplete. New regulations are coming India’s Supreme Court <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/india-supreme-court-order-on-facebook-twitter-and-whatsapp-misuse/articleshow/71275688.cms">directed the central government</a> to form its rules and regulations to govern social media platforms by January 2020. This will bring more clarity around the obligations of WhatsApp and other mobile apps. It light of recent events, it’s possible that these new regulations will include whether or not social networking platforms are allowed to launch their own payments platform. The new guidelines will also determine whether messaging apps are obligated to reveal to origins of messages.
