<keyword id="107991" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="petrol-prices">Petrol prices</keyword> across the four metros increased for the fifth consecutive day on Monday, with the fuel being priced over Rs 88 per litre in Mumbai. In the country's <keyword id="499578" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="financial-capital">financial capital</keyword>, petrol was sold for Rs 88.28 per litre on Monday, higher by 12 paise from its previous level of Rs 88.16 per litre. At the current rate, petrol prices could soon be touching unprecedented levels of Rs 100 a litre. Similarly in <keyword id="66" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi">Delhi</keyword>, price of the fuel increased by 13 paise to Rs 81.62 a litre from the previous day price of Rs 81.49 a litre. In <keyword id="6354925" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="kolkata">Kolkata</keyword>, petrol was priced at Rs 83.13, higher by 12 paise from its previous level of Rs 83.01 per litre. The price of the transportation fuel in Chennai was at Rs 84.64 per litre, higher by 12 paise from Rs 84.52 per litre on Sunday. <keyword id="6397171" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="diesel-prices">Diesel prices</keyword> are however, the same across the metros. In the national capital, diesel prices have remained stable since the Delhi government announced a 13.25 per cent reduction in the Value Added Tax on July 30, which had caused the price to fall by Rs 8.36 per litre. Breakup of Petrol and Diesel prices after Indian government raise excise duty by ₹3 per litre

The price of petrol was tonight hiked by Rs 1.39 per litre and diesel by Rs 1.04 a litre in sync with firming international rates, according to PTI news agency. The hike comes on the back of a Rs 4.85 per litre reduction in rates of petrol and Rs 3.41 a litre in diesel effected from April 1. Indian <keyword id="284628" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Oil-Corp">Oil Corp</keyword> (<keyword id="6354733" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="IOC">IOC</keyword>), the nation's largest fuel retailer, said price of petrol is being increased by Rs 1.39 per litre, excluding state levies, and that of diesel by Rs 1.04 (excluding state levies) with effect from midnight tonight. Actual increase in price will be more after taking into account local VAT. Petrol in Delhi currently costs Rs 66.29 a litre while a litre of diesel is priced at Rs 55.61. "The current level of international product prices of petrol and diesel and INR-USD exchange rate warrant increase in selling price of petrol and diesel, the impact of which is being passed on to the consumers with this price revision," IOC said in a statement. The movement of prices in the international oil market and INR-USD exchange rate shall continue to be monitored closely and developing trends of the market will be reflected in future price changes, it said. IOC also said it intends to shortly start daily changes in price of petrol and diesel on pilot basis, in Udaipur, Jamshedpur, Pondicherry, Chandigarh and Vizag.
