However, now the company with its training program helps engineers get access to global opportunities at much better salaries. Jaimini along with Sriharsha Majety and Nandan Reddy co-founded Swiggy in 2014 and served as the Chief Technology Officer of the company. Majety, however, shared an interesting <a href="https://blog.swiggy.com/life-at-swiggy/bidding-goodbye-to-rahul-jaimini-friend-co-founder-magician">blog </a>about how he met Jaimini, calling him a magician. Introduced by a common friend on Facebook, Majety pinged Jaimini telling him about his startup – Bundl. However, as luck would have it, Jaimini didn’t respond to the message. But almost a year later, Majety discovered he had messaged the wrong Jaimini. Once the conversation started between Nandan, Majety and the right Jaimini about how to disrupt ultra-fast urban delivery in India, Swiggy was born. “As we scaled from 100 orders daily on a website-only offering to 15k orders daily in 6 months, Rahul and a small missionary team ended up building an entire suite of apps for our customers, delivery partners and restaurant partners,” wrote Majety. Jaimini’s operations – platform Engineering, analytics, IT and labs, will be realigned to Dale Vaz, Head of Engineering and Data Science, who has been withSwiggy for almost two years. “The last 6 years at Swiggy were undoubtedly some of the best years. We set off with a massive goal to disrupt the food delivery industry and change the way the country eats, and this made for an exhilarating experience. Although the time has come to move on and pursue other interesting challenges, I will continue to cheer for Harsha, Nandan and the entire Swiggy team”, Jaimini said on his departure. However, Jaimini will continue to have a seat on the board of the company. Swiggy has come a long way to be a foodtech unicorn in India and is valued at $3.6 billion. Earlier in April 2020, Swiggy announced that it has raised an additional $43 million as part of its ongoing Series I round. The size of the round now stands at $156 million. Along with existing investor Tencent, new investors Ark Impact, Korea Investment Partners, Samsung Ventures and Mirae Asset Capital Markets participated in this round. However, the company has also been hit by the coronavirus pandemic and the company also laid off hundreds of employees. “We are evaluating various means to stay nimble and focused on growth and profitability across our kitchens. These include renegotiating contracts with landlords, relocation of certain kitchens to more optimal locations and discontinuing operations at a few kitchens that have been severely impacted since the lockdown came into effect. New Delhi, May 7 () Food ordering and delivery platform Swiggy on Thursday said its co-founder and CTO Rahul Jaimini will move away from active role in the company during the month to pursue another entrepreneurial venture. Jaimini will be joining Pesto Tech, a career accelerator start-up, as their co-founder, Swiggy said in a statement. He will continue to be a shareholder and board member of Swiggy, it added. Functions currently led by Rahul, including platform engineering, analytics, IT and labs, will be realigned to Dale Vaz, Head of Engineering and Data Science, who has been with the company for close to two years, the statement said. "Technology was crucial to what we set out to build when we started Swiggy. "There are three aspects to our restaurant, as you can see by our name: pizza, wine, and technology," Pizza Vinoteca CEO Ari Malcolm said to Business Insider during a recent trip to the restaurant. "We really try to take the technology and not only make it more useful for operations, but also have it be as user-friendly for guests as possible." 
The food is delicious, too, with interesting combinations like a shrimp pizza topped with green zucchini and yellow squash, and a meatball pizza served with kale pesto. The infrared grill gives the pizza a crunch that's a distinctly modern take on the traditional Italian dish.

Insider has verified her income with documentation. This conversation has been condensed and edited for clarity. For over a decade, I juggled a full-time gig in tech with a flourishing side hustle as a vegan blogger. During that time, I toggled between roles at places like Bloomberg and Conde Nast. I landed at Twitter in 2018. I spent almost five years at Twitter leading partnerships in the US, and then for the whole of North America and Latin America. All the while, I was building my brand: <a href="https://www.chefpriyanka.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chef Priyanka</a>. I grew up vegetarian. Between observing my parents, and experimenting on my own, I learned how to make delicious, plant-based food.Yet, it wasn't until I started working, and going out for lunch, that I realized there weren't many good options for vegans. So, I started putting my culinary ideas out there by blogging. Eventually, I started getting recognition from various food media sites. I began to think: Maybe I'm better than I think I am at this?Twitter gave me flexibility One of the reasons I stayed so long at Twitter was because of the reach and flexibility it gave me to grow Chef Priyanka. I was upfront with the company about my side hustle when I joined. I told them I wouldn't work at a place that didn't support my passion. Though I've been a top performer for my whole career, and it might have been a different story if I wasn't. On many days, I was almost simultaneously working on my blog and carrying out the tasks of my job— which I don't recommend. The cool thing about Twitter was that many of my colleagues were pursuing their passions through side hustles, too. Nothing lasts forever, of course. I was already planning my exit strategy <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-twitter-recruiting-layoffs-staff-workers-firing-employees-workforce-2022-11">when I got laid off last November</a>. I could tell the culture of the company was changing and I didn't want to be part of the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/anonymous-twitter-employee-elon-musk-twitter-culture-war-2022-11">drama of the Musk era</a>. And in some ways, it was the nudge I needed to turn Chef Priyanka into a full-time gig. I had always dreamed of taking my passion full-time. I hesitated, though, wondering if I had enough credibility in the industry to go all-in. I also worried about whether the step would be compatible with my financial goals.<h3>How I earn a six-figure income</h3>I'm on track to make six-figures this year: Some of the money comes from posting on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. Some of it comes from my cookbook, The Modern Tiffin, which I published in 2021 through Simon &amp; Schuster. A significant chunk, though, comes from brand partnerships and activations. Since last April, I've also been writing a column for The Washington Post called <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/newsletters/ecokitchen/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">EcoKitchen</a>. I credit this all to the work I put into my brand over these past 10 years. Aside from developing new recipes and posting videos on social media, I also entered cooking competitions. My name in the industry really started taking off after that. <h3>I'm not obsessed with going viral</h3>One of the ways that I've kept myself grounded— despite having so many irons in the fire— is through a clear brand identity.That wasn't easy by the way. When I first started, people would tell me there wasn't an audience for someone like me— a brown, vegan woman with an atypical path into the culinary world. I confused people and that was frustrating. Over time, though, I developed a clearer sense of myself. I even started taking a "zero-waste" approach to my cooking. Which means I eat watermelon instead of tossing the <a href="https://www.chefpriyanka.com/watermelon-rind-indian-pickle-upinkhai-zero-waste-vegan/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rinds I make a pickle out of them</a>. These days, I'd describe myself as someone who's empowering people to live eco-friendly lives. One of the biggest benefits of having a clear brand is that it takes the pressure off of going viral on social media. I post recipes that I'm proud of instead of worrying about how many viewers they'll attract.It's also hard to predict how anything will perform. I once posted a recipe for an Indian savory snack called chaat using tostones that I thought would go viral— it didn't. My recipe for giant fusilli with spinach jalapeno pesto, though, was my most viral post of 2022. The round was led by venture capital (VC) fund Iron Pillar, with participation from existing investors Y Combinator and Better Capital. In addition, Flipkart cofounder Binny Bansal, former Flipkart executive Sai Krishnamurthy ⁠— who is also the founder of investment firm Xto100X ⁠— and Rashmi Kwatra, founder of Sixteenth Street Capitaljoined as new investors in the round. This is Binny Bansal’s fourth investment in an edtech startup. He has invested in Unacademy, HashLearn and Crejo.Fun, prior to Skill-Lync. Skill-Lync, which was founded by Suryanarayanan Paneerselvam and Sarangarajan V Iyengar in 2018, will use this funding to increase the number of courses it currently offers, build a “strong” management team and expand to international markets. The company currently collaborates with more than 800 industry experts to create their existing course content. It also relies on an in-house team, with experience in companies like Accenture and Samsung, to design such upskilling courses for engineers. A part of the fund will also be used to double down on corporate partnerships and understand requirements for future talents and more, co-founder Sarangarajan V added. Prior to this, the company raised $150K from Y Combinator in 2019. “The rapid adoption of new technologies by industries has also created a need for constant upskilling of engineering professionals. Hence, the need of the hour is to have engineers who have knowledge of both engineering fundamentals and how they can be applied to solve real world engineering problems through engineering design and simulation tools,” Suryanarayanan P, cofounder and CEO of Skill-Lync added. Skill-Lync currently offers two learning models. First, an eight to ten months long masters programme that will focus on providing in-depth industry relevant technical knowledge to students. This would also include several projects, which will help students find relevant jobs. Second, six-month-long programme at physical skill centers, where students will get hands-on practical experiences from industry experts. “Engineering education and upskilling outside of Computer Science have seen very little digital disruption over the last two decades. This, combined with the ever-expanding need for real world interdisciplinary applications of engineering in today’s world creates a unique opportunity to establish a multi billion dollar global company with deep moats in this space,” Anand Prasanna, managing partner at Iron Pillar said. Three-year-old Skill-Lync gets $17.5 million funding from Flipkart founder Binny Bansal and others

<ul><li><keyword id="6670265" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vivek-Sunder">Vivek Sunder</keyword> has over two decades of experience in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) category.</li><li>He joined <keyword id="6358977" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="swiggy">Swiggy</keyword> three years ago in 2018 as the COO and has been holding the position since then.</li><li>CEO Sriharsha Majety added that Sunder has played a pivotal role in expanding Swiggy’s footprint to over 500 cities.</li></ul>Vivek Sunder, the chief operating officer (COO) of Swiggy, has reportedly put in his resignation and will be leaving the food delivery firm by the end of October. He joined Swiggy three years ago in 2018 as the COO and has been holding the position since then. Swiggy’s chief executive officer (CEO) and cofounder Sriharsha Majety is going to take charge of the marketplace business., according to an internal memo sent to employees. Sources aware of the development have confirmed the development. Business Insider has reached out to Swiggy, seeking confirmation of the media report. We will be updating the story if and when we receive a response. In the internal <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/stories/swiggy-coo-resigns-248564/" data-type="tilCustomLink">memo</a>, Majety reportedly praised Sunder for playing a very significant role in the growth story of the food delivery giant. He added, “On the organisational side, Vivek [Sunder] has played a key role in infusing large org[anisation] thinking in the company with a constant focus on scalability. He has also played a pivotal role in laying the seeds of practising deep customer empathy in the way we look at our products and offerings, and leveraging it to come up with simple moves that can drive big gains in consumer perception as opposed to technically complex solutions… Vivek [Sunder] will be missed for his zeal, for always pushing the boundary on consumer thinking and the functional mastery he brought to the table." Majety also noted that Sunder has played a pivotal role in expanding Swiggy’s geographical footprint to over 500 cities and also helped the company continue its on-ground operations during the Covid-induced lockdown. Sunder, an Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C) alumnus, has over 23 years of experience in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) category. He spent over two decades working with American multinational consumer goods corporation Procter &amp; Gamble, where he has been the country manager for Ethiopia, managing director for east/equatorial Africa region, director of commercial operations and more. This is the second big exit at the food delivery business in the last one year. But the recent changes in the National Education Policy might actually increase the chances of an admission into a top university abroad. Grading system, for the win The newly introduced grading system will help students identify their life skills. The new report cards will assess life skills along with giving marks to students. Also, as per the new policy, the 10+2 structure of school curricula is to be replaced with a 5+3+3+4 curricular structure corresponding to age groups 3-8 years, 8-11, 11-14 and 14-18 years respectively. While Nitish Jain, President, SP Jain School of Global Management believes this could be a problem while applying to universities abroad as 12 years of high school is the generally accepted international norm, many others disagree. "Students from over 100 countries apply for admission into top colleges in the US, UK, Australia. Since each country's school education system differs in terms of quality and exam system, admissions into these global institutions are usually on the basis of student scores in broad-based exams like SAT etc. Hence, I do not feel that reducing Indian high school from 12 to 11 years will make much of a difference,” said Dr. Akhil Shahani, Managing Director, Shahani Group. No differentiation between arts and sciences will build a student’s profile Akshay Chaturvedi, co-founder of Leverage Edu, an edutech startup that helps students apply to top colleges abroad, said that the <keyword id="188165" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="NEP">NEP</keyword> has many golden nuggets. “The availability to pick arts and sciences builds the right foundation. Even in the startup world, so many amazing successful founders today don’t necessarily come from an engineering background,” he said. Other founders agree as well. “Especially in the tech world, where the rules of tech change every five years, it is imperative that we don't remain shortsighted in educating tech aspirants,” said Ayush Jaiswal, co-founder and CEO of Pesto Tech which helps companies hire remote engineers from India. Jaiswal added that even allowing <keyword id="1109817" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ivy-League-colleges">Ivy league colleges</keyword> to set up their campuses in India is another advantage. "This is certainly poised to help Indian students have better access to global avenues of learning and opportunities," he said. Meanwhile, Chaturvedi explained that top colleges today look beyond the marks, which is a small percentage of your application, and instead focus a lot on the profile of the student. This focus on the profile will even see universities let go of the 12 years criteria. He said that once the 5-3-3-4 rule becomes official, government bodies like the UK NARIC which is the United Kingdom national agency for the recognition and comparison of international qualifications and skills will be comparing the new curriculum in terms of pedagogy against the previous system. This advice will then be passed on to the UKVI and the government and suitable decisions will be taken, expectedly in favour of the global student. “We have seen in the past when Universities have relaxed 5-7% of their academic entry requirement for Indian UG students in UCAS clearing because they recognise the importance of the Indian market and the value Indian students bring in terms of quality academicians and highly skilled workers. Needless to say, we are the 2nd biggest international student community for all top global study destinations. We are highly confident that the new system will not hold any Indian student at a disadvantage in the study abroad scenario,” he said. Multiple languages – another advantage The NEP pushes for schools to teach in local languages and use them as a medium of instruction till Class 5. This experts believe will also help students as many universities give a little extra attention to applicants who can speak and write in multiple languages. “This again adds to your profile and your profile is the most important part of your overall application,” said Chaturvedi. It aims at initiating conversations that matter to the education and skilling sector, and have the power to foster learning and inspiration. Sprig's business was a high-end meal service, where customers could get anything from a shredded raw zucchini bowl with shrimp and basil-walnut pesto to the ever-popular lemon-Parmesan kale and quinoa salad.It will stop operating on Friday, confirmed a spokesperson. Its 200 employees will receive two months pay and the company will be having a job fair to help them find a new job.
